I think for emergency disarms brake on stop is actually really useful. If I'm about to crash into a person and know that on disarm the props stop spinning just a few ms later, this is still enough time not to cause any cuts with their inertia. So I'm having this on on all my quads actually.
Would love to see a remake of your 7 month old video 55A ESC Testing, BL32 vs BLS vs BJ vs AM32. Basically at minimum the chapter on responsiveness. With a second or the same Skystars KM55A ESC but with the firmware ESCape32 (you can change firmware allegedly back and forth.). The reason I ask for this. There is a video comparing motor revving between BL32 and ESCape32. And it is amazing. ESCape32 could possibly be the best choice for 3D mode. I also received this Skystars ESC 2 days ago and will try to try ESCape32 next month. But I don't have a measuring lab at the moment to make an objective comparison to show it...
@@cinemoriahFPV You're right. It was developed specifically for vehicles and excavators because the developer was dissatisfied with the responsiveness of BL32 and BLS. You can see this explanation in the comments of the video in question. However, the developer and FPV University (Pawel) also say this, it can also be used for quadcopters. And they claim that quadcopter pilots have apparently already told the developer and Pawel that they think it's better than AM32. Check the FPV University video about ESCape32. As far as I understand, it's an open source project. It could be that 2 forks will develop from this, one firmware that further develops the vehicle area and one that further develops the quadcopter area. If that will even be necessary... I see you have Cine in your nickname. Did you know that the PID controller does its job better when the motor reacts more quickly? That means ESCape32 could also be better for Cinema FPV than AM32. If it is realky true that ESCape32 is faster...

@@senyx0 Ah ok. You already wrote something like that to me in your Motorstartup video. But it's good that you're writing it here too, for the readers. I have a Skystars AM32 KM55A Mini that I'm going to flash to ESCape32 in the near future. As far as I can see, it has STM32F051 and PB4. So I assume it doesn't need a hardware hack. If not, that wouldn't be a problem because I wanted to build an AM32 quad for comparison anyway. But it's good that you mentioned it normally! Because if I really do switch everything to ESCape32 in the future, I'll have to be careful what I buy. Unfortunately, the product descriptions often don't say in the specs exactly which chipset is used. If I find that I like ESCape32 better for 3D mode than others, I will definitely register everywhere to report bugs and make suggestions... How about, for example, writing this hardware hack information as an intro to the target compatibility list. You could also list all known ESCs that require a hardware hack, of course it should be very clear and visible that they require it...
Hello Chris I have started racing at one of my local chapters. Long story short I have a goal to reach to top 200 or maybee 100 in the world at next years IO . I am a huge advocate of your frames and motors including this ESC even before this bl heli32 ordeal. My whole fleet is AOS. That being said i am going to proove to the world that AOS has a place in racing. Thank you for what you have done for us. Take care !
@chra your current limit slider has a bad setting you need to slide the slider back to 0 and them back to full to fix it. changing versions some times corrupts. the settings
Active braking is different to (prop) brake... active braking allows the ESC to somewhat force the motor to slow down if you lower (not cut) the throttle... whereas (prop) will stop the motor when you cut the throttle. You can have the brake enabled, and not have active braking. That's why Chris specially said you want brake enabled on wings, but not quads ;)
Chris, I have a hexsoon650 and I changed the esc's out with holybro tekko am32 esc's. sometimes when I arm the quad one motor gets "stuck" with a squeal. I will have to disarm and rearm and sometimes it will start and sometimes it won't. May take a few attempts to get the prop spinning. Any idea as to why? Start up power is at 100%, should I increase it?
Mehh, if the prop blade points down and you have a hard brake on it, snap! I just let it mill and if the blade points down usually it turns aside keeping the prop in one piece.
I compiled a AM32 firmware for my own test 4 in 1 esc, but I set DEAD TIME incorrectly, thank to DC protector it just goes really hot without blowing up. How should tune the DEAD TIME without really got my ESC DEAD?
AM32 still feels like an unfinished product. On my test bench it behaves in unexpected ways, the configurator site has several obvious bugs, 3D mode doesn't work for me
Anybody have a good recommendation for a am32 20by20mm esc that is less than 30mm in the corners , i don't care how long the part that you wire the power leads is just what fits between the standoffs of the Flywoo Explorer LR 4 v2 frame, I'm also concerned about low weight. I'm going to be using the flywoo 1404 2750kv motors and 4 inch biblade props and a Holybro Kakute H743 mini flight controller for Arducopter. Can anyone please help me?
@@ChrisRosser I think sendorm actually asked about the reverse... AFAIK it's essentially impossible to flash an AM32 ESC to BLHeli32 (even if the ESC originally had BLHeli32 on it) - no-one's managed to "hack" BLHeli32's bootloader.
