    so helpful! I was passed down a 32 track Soundcraft Spirit from my dad recently, and would not be able to make heads or tails of what was going on with it without these videos. THANK YOU!!!

    Well Dan. You’ve answered me a lot of questions about a recording desk that I would never have been able to ask. I wasn’t sure about the function of the master effect controls on GarageBand iOS but now I know. Things are a lot more basic in GarageBand without all those sliders and busses. 👍✌️

    That Soundcraft is slick. Recently I found similar (slightly bigger) one on auction and almost bought it, because of Your YT channel. I have only 1-2 and 3-4 on my desk and are constantly occupied.

    • @DanBakerMusic

      They’re are good desks, the only trouble being that the insert points can give trouble with old jack plugs. I soldered across mine...

    • @elusivemite
      @elusivemite 4 года назад

      @@DanBakerMusic that desk looks very familiar. I have just put a deck 1882 back into service. Believe they were bought out by soundcraft and it evolved into the spirit
      You mentioned being able to send mono to the buss. Could you elaborate new to hardware and would like to be able to utilise all 8 buss tracks as mono. May not be possible on mine as I can't see a way of doing it

    absolutely insane. i started watching your vids after a 'friend' with a studio started acting wonky about talking with me...as if i were going to 'compete' with him. (no chance)
    I think I lost him as an educational resource so i started looking for info on how to use hybrid setups to best advantage. I found your vids and got a nice educational update on how they can be used with DAW s/w. Great vids BTW, thanks! I only want to record my own stuff and maybe a friend or two.
    Friday I'm picking up the 24ch version of your Spirit Studio from someone local for $250 in great condition. I've done some research and might recap the power supply and later the pre's if I think they need it(only time will tell). Anyway, if it weren't for you this board would not have been on my radar at all. Thanks much and hope to learn more from you in the future.

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  3 года назад

      Cheers Jon! Yea the Soundcraft boards do sound good but beware the insert points on each channel. They can give trouble and cut in and out. I soldered across mine as I never plug anything in the chain.

    • @ruby2thursday
      @ruby2thursday 3 года назад

      @@DanBakerMusic - I'm planning on opening it up and checking continuity at the outputs, possibly flowing new solder onto the connections if needed. I am hoping to experiment with taking the out off the inserts to a half-norm patchbay and sending the second output to try to make a meter bridge and possibly a switchable RTA display. In short, i'm going to get into the guts of it. might end up buying a second board...i really wanted a 32ch but this will be great so no complaints.

    This video explained good concepts to me, but I'm having a catastrophic issue translating projects from ios to Logic, and I assume its all in the routing. There's no email contact to ask you about it, and the Contact Form on your website just gives me error messages.

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  2 года назад

      Hi Matt-sorry that my website mail isn’t working. Translating iOS projects into Logic does certainly raise some issues with routing and general effects, but you could try opening it in GarageBand on the computer, and then saving it to open in Logic.

    Hi Dan I’ve watched so many tutorials on this subject,,still confused, yours however is so easy to understand. Thanks so much. Not DAW specific is great.

      @@DanBakerMusic that’s a shame it was so good. Like Chic,,,Nile Rodgers. Anyway Dan you managed to demystify this seemingly dark art that other tutorials waffle on about making me more confused. You have a calming voice and the pace is just right for me. I can’t thank you enough. 🙏🎼✌️

    BUT i'm still confused.
    I'm here because the fools at Steinberg call EVERY in and out a Buss, and I have NO CLUE how I am supposed to route the Universal Audio Apollo Twin Duo into Nuendo to setup a Control Room properly, which I wouldn't necessarily need, except that I DESPERATELY want to record an artist who is in Canada while i'm here in the U.S. via VST Connect Pro.
    I have the MIDI setup.
    I can find ways to setup the inputs and outputs.
    But, the "Control Room" Confuses the HELL out of me. (How do I route the talkback and monitoring while making the Universal audio software channels link up with the Nuendo channels properly...
    The CONSISTENT PROBLEMS which I run into:
    1.) Control Room Talkback
    2.) Audio Output for remote performer (though the level meters are showing for remote performer... and I used 2 different interfaces for the performer.
    3.) Performer Talkback
