@MidnightLight - agreed. As an IT specialist, this is one the best audio mixer tutorial that I've watched. Began with the mixer architecture, explains what each mixer subsection does to channelized incoming signals. Thank you sir.
As a tech that has been doing live events for 15 years, I can back everything said in this video. Note: he chose a Behringer, and I believe for very good reason. I have the smaller X1832USB, but it still offers compression, sweepable mids and a built in 9-band graphic eq; These are all indispensable functions for live mixing. Very clear, concise, accurate instruction. Great video all around.

Great video, I have Behringer Xenyx X2442USB. I just picked up an EV Subwoofer, How can I connect my EV-ELX200-12PS active Subwoofer to the Behringer. Thank you.
Excellent! shouldn't be a problem. There are a couple ways you could do this. If you have an available post fader aux mix, you can use it to feed a sub. The good part of this is that you only need to send channels to the sub that have low frequencies. This is generally called "Aux fed Subwoofer." The other way is use the subgroup output. This will let you assign just the channels you want. Don't forget to the use the assignment button on those channels to send it to right subgroup.
Thanks. That means a lot. I'm not trying to hit any magic length. I personally don't like RUclipsrs who go on and on and on... I understand why they do it but I'm trying to be helpful, not grow a channel. 😁
Okay. The dude with the Taylor up on the platform: DI into Channel X. He's also got a pedal board. And a looper pedal going into a strum-drum pedal. Aux 1 in a loop for the pedal board. Aux 2 for the loop from the Looper and SDrum. Pre- or Post Fader? Return jacks or burn a "stereo" channel with line ins? The Looper/SDrum must have a clean "dry" input so it cannot be in the same path as the pedal board but the pedal board needs to be as prominent in the mix as the looped part with a rhythm generated. And we hope that the drummer can keep up with a click track...........
Whoa that's a neat application. I would lean pre-fader on this as it gives me the most control. If any added FX are in stereo, I would thing a stereo channel would sound best. Happy Looping!
Thanks! That was very helpful! I’m not a “sound guy”, but I do end up setting up the sound board for the band I’m in. We have a similar mixer, the X1832USB by Behringer. I was always confused by how to route sound to our speakers and monitors. We have 2 mains, and up to 3 monitors. You have helped clear that up a little bit.

Excellent video! I do have one question. We are using 2 monitor mixes and I would like to send reverb to one of them. I can get the reverb on the mains with no problem but I can’t seem to get it on the monitor.
Talk back from the stage or the from the mix position just require you to use an additional input channel on the mixer. Simply use the controls to route the mic where you want it. (Keeping the Main Fader down of course.) You can use PFL to listen from headphones or use a pre-fader aux mix to talk back on monitors for example.

Hey Bruh ☺😎 Great Job Giving Them The Basics on an Analog Mixer.. In The Digital Age This is a Much Needed Video for Some.. They Do Need to Have an Understanding of Where it All Began. So Big Ups to You Sir ☺😎👊💯
Question on LEds indicator. Do this lights Indictators indicate just decibels levels or do they also indicate volume levels, let's say if I have 2 instruments on 2 different channels , if both leds indicate 4 ,do they also mean they are at the same level control ?
Indeed it does. I use my meters to set my gain, so I have roughly the same level for everything. Then, I use my faders to set the final levels (because sometimes you will want less cowbell in your speakers.) 😉
I bought the same mixer and found it had an manfucturing error as the current for led bulbs is audible with audio signal - this can only be heard by good set of headphones only. I then returned and got another brand. Thanks for the video it is very informative.
Great video! I use an iPhone into a mixer for backing tracks. I have heard source/phone should be at 100%. I back it off one click to 95%. I PFL until red clipping and back it off until red disappears. Is this correct? I called Souncraft tech support and this was their suggestion.
Yes, that's a good method. Phones can be tricky since they all have variable output levels. Mine keeps turning itself down because it thinks I'm damaging my hearing at the high volumes I need to drive a mixer. 😛
For high impedance instruments like a guitar you'll want a direct box. For electronic instruments you can use a mono or stereo line level input. This mixer doesn't have instrument combo inputs like some interfaces or mixers. Hope that helps!
Where is your PFL buttons or aren't there any..can't see them there. Some units have them at the top, others down near the slider. I use the PFL all the time. I never rely on the previous gig's settings. They are approximate, but then you move to a new venue and have to redo it all anyway...lol. Great vid by the way.
This video is easily the best I’ve found so far to explain the functions of this board. I purchased this same mixer on the advice from some musician friends for my 16 year old son’s garage band. You’ve given me a point of reference to get started and to go back to if I run into any trouble. Now I just need to figure out how to plug everything into the right places so I can start tinkering with it! They will have 3 instrument mics along with the singer’s mic going into the board, and 2 powered mains and 2 powered monitors coming out…plus a 1000w Crown power amp to power this passive mixer. Do you have any videos made to demonstrate connections? Or any website that you’d recommend? Regardless, thanks for this video! It’s sure to help a ton!
Glad it was helpful. I'm assuming you have passive speakers since you have an amplifier? If you have powered speakers (that you have to plug into the wall) you don't need an amp at all. I don't have a setup video for passive speakers and amps. Maybe I should make one...🤔 Audio University has a good video here using powered speakers. ruclips.net/video/Avaa4_702eM/видео.html
No, my son’s band has powered speakers. The guy that recommended this mixer told me I’d need a power amp, but THEIR band might use passive speakers? I assumed the mixer itself was passive…good to know, thanks!
Awesome video. I am looking to add an in ear monitor. Where would I add that so that the pastor only hears the output from a specific mic (like on the board)?

For the most part, it's used for outboard compressors, reverbs or effects units. Most pedals are used between the guitar and the amp or direct box.
