FINALLY, a video on how to use a mixing board where the audio quality actually sounds like....God forbid someone who knows how to use a sound board.
Right on James. I actually made this video for this reason. Videos about audio gear which have terrible audio? 🤷Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@proclaimav4197 thanks I also wanna get my own mixer to record my drums so I’m watching this as everyone just talks about it but don’t show how to do it like it seems you’re doing it already less than five minutes into the video
@MidnightLight - agreed. As an IT specialist, this is one the best audio mixer tutorial that I've watched. Began with the mixer architecture, explains what each mixer subsection does to channelized incoming signals. Thank you sir.
Everyone learns differently I suppose, my teaching probably reflects my own learning style. Glad it was helpful!
This is one of the “best” online tutorials on mixing boards I’ve seen online -
Wow, thanks!
I agree
As a tech that has been doing live events for 15 years, I can back everything said in this video. Note: he chose a Behringer, and I believe for very good reason. I have the smaller X1832USB, but it still offers compression, sweepable mids and a built in 9-band graphic eq; These are all indispensable functions for live mixing.
Very clear, concise, accurate instruction. Great video all around.
Thanks for your kind words!
Np. You earned it. 🍻
Thank you!! Clear, articulate and a voice I could happily listen to all day. Top work.
Thanks Phill! Glad it was helpful.
Such a great video. Your recommendations on having everything in front of you is exactly where i was at when watching! Highly suggest everyone to do the same. It is a lilttle hard to handle at first but watching a couple times really helps everthing to sink in. Still a lot to figure out but this is an incredible start thank you so much for your time and effort.
Excellent. I find that tinkering is the way I learn things as well. Happy mixing!
This is the best tutorial that you can find on RUclips, thanks a lot and please keep on making more videos like this
More to come!
I haven't finished watching all of this video but I have already learned so much in the first few sections. Thank you for explaining things in easy terms.
Glad it was helpful!
Finally a clear cut, in-depth video on how to use an analog mixer. Because everybody doesn't use digital nowadays.
Right on. I made this video out of frustration since I couldn't find one that I liked. Analog is still a great budget friendly option! 😃
Thank you for this video, really easy to understand
Thanks!
Thank you for good explanation
Very helpful. Thanks! Just picked up a Behringer X1832USB and this video has greatly helped in my understanding. Totally new to this game, so I have basically zero knowledge with mixers, but feeling much more confident now and have a much better understanding of what the board is capable of, and in how to use it.
Great to hear it! That's the goal.
This was great for me as i just ordered the QX2442USB.. awesome rundown
Right on Mike. I really love mine. I've used it a lot during the COVID 19 crisis to do live Drive-In church services. Glad to help!
Thank you for putting this video up. I've never used a mixer, but at least I'll have an idea of what to do when I eventually get one.
Awesome! Hope it helps a lot of people.
Best video I have watched so far on this topic (I explored like 20 different channels) Very clear and comprehensive...Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Appreciate the kind words.
Thank you for doing this!! This is very helpful and you're really good at explaining these concepts in a simple, understandable way :)
You're so welcome!
Hands down the best explanation of this mixer I’ve ever seen. I just purchased This exact mixer last year so we could use it for live set ups basically to send my keyboard/drum programmer stuff through it and then to the main FOH. Thank you so much. ☺️🙏🏾
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent, easy to understand and 100% relevant. Outstanding. Thanks man!
No prob J.
You nailed it man. The video is perfect. It is as easy to understand as possible and was very useful to me.
Thanks!
Thanks a lot Tim! You are very clear in your instructions and very knowledgeable. It was very helpful!
Thanks Don! Glad it was helpful and thanks for checking it out.
Tim, Thanks very much for putting together this awesome video. It really helped me understand my analog mixer. I have the Behringer Xenyx2222usb. Keep up the good work and I will follow all your videos.
Glad it was helpful!
This is one of the most useful videos on RUclips. Thank you very much !!
You're very welcome!
Appreciate you taking the time to explain all this, definitely a big help to me. Keep doin what your doin.
Glad to help. 😀
Dude you were so patient and informative, hope you hit 1k sub soon!
Thanks William! Subs just keep growing everyday so I think I will. Thanks for watching.
Wow. A straight-forward explanation. Thanks for the video.
Glad it was helpful!
Many thanks for this video, planning on buying a Behringer X1622USB soon (my first mixer) so everything you've said is totally relevant
My pleasure!
This was a great watch! I appreciate how you explained everything, also that you tinkered with the knobs and we heard it in real time! That was extremely helpful i started it using an analog board but never understood it in depth!
Awesome, I'm happy to hear that. I tried to make it as "hands on" as possible as I learn best by doing. 😃
Thanks for the video Tim!
I've been muddling through using my Behringer 1832fx for years without really understanding the sub group or Aux mixes.
Great video 👍🏻
Great to hear!
I don't know how much to thank you for this. It's been such a help in learning this. Wow I'm grateful
You are Super welcome!
Thanks! That was very helpful! I’m not a “sound guy”, but I do end up setting up the sound board for the band I’m in. We have a similar mixer, the X1832USB by Behringer. I was always confused by how to route sound to our speakers and monitors. We have 2 mains, and up to 3 monitors. You have helped clear that up a little bit.
Glad it helped clear things up!
Such a good explanation. I've just purchased a qx1832 usb mixer and this has helped me a great deal.
Awesome, glad it was helpful! Thanks for watchin'.
@@proclaimav4197 I just found this video because I was got a x2222usb mixer for a small amount and want to connect it to my umc1820. the latter works great, but on my xenyx only 2 knobs seem to have any impact xD I really hope your vid helps me to understand what I am doing wrong (or if the mixer is just broken) I hope it's my fault.
Excellent video. I have been using a mixer similar to yours for some years. After watching your presentation, I realize, starting tomorrow I have a lot of tweeking to do. Thanks.
Super!
thank you so much i wish this was longer i love you for that i have a pro- dragon -16 mixer thank you
There is a Part 2 of the video for more details. It's tough to hit the balance between thorough and too long... :)
This is a very good video, super overview of an analog mixer! Thanks! 👍🏻👏🏻
My pleasure!
I knew I shouldn't have watched this! Leaves mine seriously lacking! lol Very well explained. Great job. Nice mixer as well. I've had a few Behringer products over the last 10 years and always had good luck with them.
Glad it was helpful! I've had very good luck with the newer Behringer gear. Ever since they open their own factory, they have better control over the quality. Check out "Music Group City."
Thanks a lot this is what I am looking for. This lockdown encourage me to learn mixing I just got a used Behringer SL2443FX-Pro and similarly I can now apply what I have learned from your video. Regards and keep safe.
Nice! Glad I could help your lockdown learning and happy mixing. 😃
Thank you for your saved playlist. Really helped to find what I was looking 👌 for

This is Excellent. Thanks so much. Learned a lot. "Untinkered with" I think is a very appropriate description I think... :)
Yes, I enjoy making up my own words occasionally...😁

No problem Rick, Thanks for watching!
i just got brought on for a theater production that uses a analog board from the 90s that i've never seen before...let's just say I was caught off guard but this video helped me understand a little more and I feel confident going in tomorrow!
Super! Glad it was helpful.

Enjoyed this ..clear explanation and demo as the video goes
Awesome, thank you!
Awesome tutorial!! Articulated well… not boring and stuck on any one point too long! You’re the man!! More please!!
Thanks. That means a lot. I'm not trying to hit any magic length. I personally don't like RUclipsrs who go on and on and on... I understand why they do it but I'm trying to be helpful, not grow a channel. 😁
Very informative, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Bruh... I've gotten myself into streamlining audio video at church...so, building up on my basic working knowledge of AV stuff and trying to help out....I got a LOT of theory from your video which would help me move on constructively.... Thanks again, a ton.....
You got this!

Thank you for this. Just got a XenyX X1222USB which has much less functionality than the Xenyx QX2442 USB, however this video was still very helpful in explaining many of the functions that ARE on the X1222 for this noobie. Thanks again.
Glad I could help!
Drinking from the firehose, yes. But no additional BS, straight to the meat. Excellent video!
You're welcome. I hate it when RUclipsrs go on and on about nothing...😛

Hey Bruh ☺😎 Great Job Giving Them The Basics on an Analog Mixer.. In The Digital Age This is a Much Needed Video for Some.. They Do Need to Have an Understanding of Where it All Began. So Big Ups to You Sir ☺😎👊💯
It's amazing to me how many digital mixer users are completely confuzled by an analog board.

11:45 - Your left was my right and your right was my left - HAS APPLE PANNED MY MACBOOK BACKWARDS?!!? :D
😂 Nope, its all MY fault. Don't call Apple Tech support. 😁
This video is easily the best I’ve found so far to explain the functions of this board. I purchased this same mixer on the advice from some musician friends for my 16 year old son’s garage band. You’ve given me a point of reference to get started and to go back to if I run into any trouble. Now I just need to figure out how to plug everything into the right places so I can start tinkering with it! They will have 3 instrument mics along with the singer’s mic going into the board, and 2 powered mains and 2 powered monitors coming out…plus a 1000w Crown power amp to power this passive mixer. Do you have any videos made to demonstrate connections? Or any website that you’d recommend? Regardless, thanks for this video! It’s sure to help a ton!
Glad it was helpful. I'm assuming you have passive speakers since you have an amplifier? If you have powered speakers (that you have to plug into the wall) you don't need an amp at all. I don't have a setup video for passive speakers and amps. Maybe I should make one...🤔 Audio University has a good video here using powered speakers. ruclips.net/video/Avaa4_702eM/видео.html
No, my son’s band has powered speakers. The guy that recommended this mixer told me I’d need a power amp, but THEIR band might use passive speakers? I assumed the mixer itself was passive…good to know, thanks!
Helpful
Glad to hear that
Great video, thanks for posting . I'm getting a beringer xenyx qx2222 usb and would like to connect it to a looper peddle , in stereo if possible. What would the best way to do this in your opinion ? My thoughts were to go out from the aux sends 1 and 2 into the L R of the looper , then out of the looper L R into the L R of the mixer aux returns. Would be very interested in your thoughts . Thanks
Hi Stephen, (Disclaimer, I have not tried this before.) Here's what I would try. Looper peddles can be tricky since you are coming out and back into the same board. I would set up your source channels both on Main and on Subgroup 1/2. Use the Subgroup 1/2 to feed your looper input. Take the output from the looper and plug into a stereo channel, making sure you do not assign it to Subgroup 1/2. This essentially creates a mix minus. If you have a stereo source for the looper pedal, you may need to use two channels with one panned right and one panned left to preserve the stereo effect and send the channels to Sub1 and Sub2 separately. Hope that helps!
10:14 Nice to see someone else using the same mixing philosophy as me "Cut before you boost"
Yeeesss!
