    Ive been engineering my own music for over 13 years now. I guess I just stuck with some bad habits and became comfortable with them. I was getting great mixes but I was definitely overloading my CPU not utilizing Busses and Sends. The concept always kinda confused me so I just ignored it. Today I decided to crack down and really try to understand it and this was by far the best explanation Ive seen on youtube. Thank you so much for helping me grow as an engineer!

    Honestly, I've been dabbling with other DAWs while somewhat avoiding Pro Tools over the years mainly due to what I called the tedious learning curve. I wasn't willing to invest the time even while understanding cross-referencing information really translates from one platform to another . I came across your channel and it has been a game changer for me. The Template alone is a valued time saver in and of itself. However, the recording track hack took things to the next level for sure. Much appreciated!!🔥❤🔥

  • @white_turban_hombre

    are aux's parallel channels, that is where the audio is copied through it? Or is it receiving the actual signals from tracks bussed to it? So that it controls all the audio signal like a master fader would?

  • @djjamie9607
    @djjamie9607 Год назад +1

    Excellent video. I'm a bit new to some of the terminology and your explanation cleared up a lot of questions that I had. However, I do have a question for you. In your demo you have 3 vocal tracks and you created a bus track, then moved all the plugins to the bus track. What if you wanted to boost the highs on one of those vocal tracks instead of all 3. wouldn't you still need to have an EQ for example on one of the vocals to do this?

    • @MyAudioAcademy
      @MyAudioAcademy  Год назад

      Excited to hear this cleared some things up for you, as these concepts can easily get confusing 😅
      In that case, yes, you would just add the EQ to that single audio track 👍

I insert my hardware that is mono on the mono lead bus and plugins on the main vox stereo bus.. If that makes since is that a correct way of doing it? I feel like it’s wrong but it works..

  • @95blaze88
    @95blaze88 Год назад +1

    This cleared things up a lot. I have one question though. Say I don’t want as much reverb and delay on the verse as I do on the hook, how would I go about effecting that differently? Would I have to make another aux track?

    • @MyAudioAcademy
      @MyAudioAcademy  Год назад

      Yes 🎯 That would be the easiest way to do it!
      Just be sure to update your input to a new unused Bus Track (ex: Bus 2-3, 3-4).
      Then route relevant audio tracks to this new "Hook"/"Verse" bus.

    What’s the difference between having Autotune on the track vs the vocal bus? Also, does adjusting the reverb send on the vocal bus do the same thing as adjusting on the actual reverb aux track like you did?

    • @MyAudioAcademy
      @MyAudioAcademy  Год назад +1

      1. Auto tune on the vocal bus means your auto tune will try to tune multiple vocal signals at once. This can sometimes be problematic.
      2. In basic terms, yes. We could get super technical about the differences, but they ultimately get you the same result 😎
      Hope this helps!

      @@MyAudioAcademy Thank you! I guess it’s good to have the autotune on the track instead also in case it’s not needed on the bus for a specific song. Avoids touching the vocal bus much 🙏 Lastly, does it matter where the reverb/delay sends go? On the tracks or vocal bus?

    This didn't work for me. I wanted to put fab filter on certain parts of my instrumental. I wanted to automate it.
    My workaround? Also simple. Just duplicate the track and add the fab filter to one of the tracks then either touch, write or even delete parts of the track that didn't have the filter. I think with this style you made, it blends in with the track almost like parallel compression. I didn't want that. In Reason or FL or maybe even Logic, I can actually automate the VST by right clicking and creating an automation lane. That's how I do filtering.
