    Their pensionado program is amazing. Financially, my wife and I are in a good position, but I could still see myself buying property in Panama for retirement.

    -Health care is scarce ,local hospitals are not close ,a docotrs visit is easy when you can find their location and sfter waiting hours to see him or her.
    But surgery is much cheaper as well as dental work (about half what you would pay in the USA)
    -Electricity is decent in the city and iffy at best outside of it.
    -The beach is not close and gets very packed quickly.
    -Good luck finding parking if you dont own or rent a house.
    -Cable is not cheap and what they call fast we call average.
    - police officers are not very helpfull more on the rude side.
    -btw if you need a master lock key re keyed make sure you have the paperwork for it(crazy)
    - as for food itsonly boring if you dont know what to get, they have lots of fish potatoe and pasta salads. As well as goat and other meats and lots of soups.
    -Many dont use AC because its expensive to them.
    Traffic is crazzy in the city and in populated towns,
    - living outside the city is a different world in itself some are very lax and some are very noisy depending on the youth. And they have lots of bars so they have lots of drunks at night as well.
    - the overhead train is cheap but it gets super packed...think asain style at times.
    - if you love shopping the cities are the place to be they have malls afyer malls after malls all near each other.
    Dont get me wrong its a great place but its not exactly how this video states.

    You can, it is possible, to live fairly economically in Panama, but you probably would have to live as a Panamanian and you wouldn't like it very much if you have certain specific needs for comfort or luxuries. As with any other city, cheaper locations are extremely noisy and congested, even potentially hazardous due to crime or the conditions such as open sewer or excavations, missing barrier or hand rails etc. Stairs and raps are normally uneven or steep, so for those with mobility issues, its a big no go.

    Here in Germany I have my own house. Have to pay much für gasoline and was happy to see that the prized in Panama is much less than in Germany. The most i must spend in Germany is for not getting frozen - as the costs for beeing heated is horribly. most time we need to heat up to not starve from freezing.... Oil, Wood is very expensive- specially after the CO2 Taxes... In Panama i bougt a house and no costs for heating up the house as the climate is much better in Panama. So i have only the living costs. And fruits, meat, veggies in Panama was also less expensive than in Europe but with better quality...

    I'd love to know more about Panama City and the expats and foreigners that live there. Like are they mostly on business trip or have they relocated. Also, if you can discuss the many different ethnic and nationalities that live there as in which countries of foreigners are you most likely to see in the city. As always thank you

    For the sake of validity, I would suggest your seek the correct pronunciation of Boquete (middle syllable). Also, I would suggest you not link Boquete with Coronado; Coronado is more closely aligned with Panama City. Otherwise, a good video.

    • @Surfbird11
      @Surfbird11 3 года назад +1

      They aren’t even close to each other. Coronado is on the ocean west of Panama City while Boquete is in the mountains north of David. Not even the same province. They are both full of wealthy American expats though so they have that in common.

    Many of the prices sound like rural Ohio or the state of Wyoming or Nevada unless you reduce your standard of living. Of course there are no high heating bills so probably a little cheaper than the mentioned states.

    Panama is expensive

  • @madelynreusser1588
    @madelynreusser1588 2 года назад +4

    You mention great health care. While going to the dr, or getting an operation may be less expensive than in the US, I could find NOTHING about infrastructure for the elderly. NO organized retirement communities, NO assisted living facilities, NO nursing homes. Those are pretty important systems to have in place if you’re moving to a country to live out the rest of your life…
    Oh, and shall we talk about food? Yes it’s cheaper than in the US, but it’s also not very good! It’s OK if you like rice and beans, and I mean three meals a day, and chicken or fish that’s breaded and fried within an inch of its life in God knows what kind of oil. And if you’re lucky perhaps a limp vegetable. When I was there, I was amazed that even though I kept hearing about the fabulous vegetables grown in Panama, I surely couldn’t find them! Granted, I’m a West Coast girl and I’m used to a wide variety of fresh produce, but I was amazed at the lack of exactly that in a tropical country! Other than that, it’s a pretty cool place, think Costa Rica 30 years ago, with lousier beaches.

    • @Leonardo-1
      @Leonardo-1 2 года назад +1

      Ms. MADELYN ....
      Those are very valid and on point observation you made. Correct about finding vegetables but perhaps knowing were to go shopping, like the locals do to find healthy choices in nutrition, is what is missing.
      No organize assisted facilities is another situation that one has to look into if planning to stay long term. So where do the locals go when that time comes? Do their own families handle that? Good points you have made.
      ONE LOVE !

      @@Leonardo-1 I am from Panama...in the part of the nursing homes, there are, I did some community service there as a requeriment for graduation from highschool and university, but the elderly in Panama stay mainly with their family or nearby of them, Panamanians are very family oriented and some of them even see the need of retired homes as bad, because you should care for your family.
