I happened to stumble upon this channel and I wondered why the uploader stopped uploading videos. Despite not knowing the creator, I felt sad upon knowing about his sudden passing. It's fortunate that he retired early and he was able to enjoy life.
Was with heavy heart to hear of Ronin Blue’s passing.. really enjoyed his vlogs and inspired by your courage to live life to the full.. my condolences to his partner, family and friends. 🙏
Oh boy, first time on his channel.
May he rest in peace and let's ask why so his loss will not be for nothing. Lots of healthy people have been having sudden heart attacks since late 2021. I'm sure there will be an explanation that removes all guilt from certain companies.

I live in Hawaii but it's really bad on the streets a lot of people are moving from California. California is terrible with criminal activity and the police don't care about homeless people

I'm curious, after all the traveling and research you did as a couple trying to find that perfect retirement destination, where you would have chosen to retire based on all the places you actually visited.
I very much relate with your videos, lifestyle, and preferences for safe, clean, affordable places to live with a personal emphasis on nature, walking, peace and quiet (not being bothered by beggars, etc.) and places that make sense from a personal finance / financial independence viewpoint.
I assume wherever you would have chosen is likely to be top of my list, too.
That said, from the places you actually visited, can you share which place would have ultimately won as your chosen retirement destination?
It would be great for you to visit a country in Africa like São Tomé and Principe

Renting a bike, i think most would buy one.
It is expensive to live there on a retiree visa. First the visa cost 1000us dollars in the first year and then 800us yearly. You have to pay taxes on your retirement income. I think it's about 5%. You have to prove them that you are paying for a maid and also pay for health insurance as a basic requirement. Renting a place for a year in advance is also a requirement. This will limit your choices as you want to move around. You get the feeling that they don't really want you there, or just want to use you for your money.

@@RadenWA True, however, the government is not involved as much in other countries as in Indonesia. Asking you to pay 1k per year for visa plus 5% on your retirement income? That's excessive. If you live on 2k per month then you are going to pay 1.2k US per year, add the visa to it, and you are paying over 2 k to the government every year. And that's assuming you got the retirement visa. Compare that to the Philippines, for example.
This 35 dollar was not the norm for some nationals before the pandemic!! I will just wailt until it goes back to the old rules!!

When you dont have the time to make from flour probably you have enough money to buy.
I'd imagine the food there is already so delicious that western dishes like pasta and pizza are really never necessary unless you have some personal obsession for it.

The fruits and vegetables are they locally grown and without pesticide and GMO?
Most are grown locally. I'd imagine some pesticide would be used as it is almost everywhere. Organic produce (local) is available in Bali. GMO obviously has it's advantages so I'd imagine it will be in use somewhere.
Organic meat, fruits and vegetables are also available in a supermarket in Indonesia

Sure in my old age I will be getting a scooter, I have 4 cars in US.
You should try a motorcycle. It's a different experience than sitting in a car. I have a car in Canada but earlier this year I went into the Himalayas first in a car and later on a motorcycle. It was a different experience on a motorcycle; I felt more inline with the environment, as if I'm walking on foot.
Anyways, it's not just about affordability. Motorcycles are significantly more mobile especially in city centers, and driven by all ages.
