  • Words of wisdom before you build your own exhaust, it is NOT as easy as it looks! First I go over my strategy and welds, next we look at how I cut the tube, then we tour the whole system from underneath, and finally a sound test before and after.
P.S. The engine shown at the end is 100% real, but whether it ends up in the Matrix or something else is still up in the air. Comment if you can guess what engine it is.

I give you credit. There is a reason professionals do Mandrel bend. It's more important for the inside to be smoother than the ouside so it flows better.

Very true, smooth walls to reduce turbulence. Whereas mine has bumpy welded screw holes, pipes fit into each other both ways, a real flow nightmare lol. But it works well, no leaks so far.

How was the mpg after the mod?

Got the new transmission in, I don’t know MPG prior to that. It gets around 30mpg highway now. Probably mid 20s in town. Similar to my corolla with same engine, but stock exhaust, I doubt it made much difference. Sounds nice though lol.
