What you’ve said is correct. I’ll add that the 54 is an homage to the Tudor diver from 54 which was a more affordable copy of the Rolex, even including some shared parts. For me, I love the vintage aesthetic, history and the legitimate familial tie.

I watch their videos and will continue to watch them but am done with them. I think I have found my perfect watch and will wear it daily till it breaks down.
I got the bb54 and i put the uncle seiko jubilee on it with the oem clasp, it looks amazing next to my date just and it's the perfect mix between classy and casual. Under the radar but once you notice it you can't keep your eyes off it
Tudor is becoming the default enthusiast Choice, there is not an awful lot going on. I tried it on and I thought it was a little bit small for me. The problem is a lot of other watches are a little bit big in terms of the lug lenth.
The first BB54 came with that displacement with the pip. I had to pass. The dealer from the AD told me I was being picky, it was “Normal”… well, not for me paying for a luxury item. I ended buying it from another place
i disagree with your point at 9:09 about introducing more color variants to the bb54, i like the simplicity and lack of options as it makes it super iconic in my eyes and really puts it in its own category within a class of its own. also the faux rivets are absolutely a staple at this point, i think it’s one of those things that puts tudor in its own lane and separates it from the rest. it just wouldn’t feel the same without them at this point. other than that, great video! solid points regarding everything else!
I have the Black Bay 58 Blue, and I absolutely love it. Behind my Black Bay Pro, it's my most worn watch. I even got a Tudor Ranger bracelet and had it refinished so it matches the BB58, and now it's perfect.
I’ve considered getting a Ranger bracelet for mine; I have it on a Forstner “O” right now. I just can’t get a comfortable fit with the Tudor bracelet, even with a “Uncle Strap’s” half-link.
I have a submariner cermit/starbucks, and while I love that watch the BB54 is a more versatile and wearable watch for most people. Its a super cool watch.
I prefer the 58, which is a full spec homage to all the vintage codes in my opinion. However, I can see the desirability in a smaller, cleaner design. I did get the new Explorer in 36mm for the same reason, sometimes less is more. Tudor is releasing so many amazing watches, you can’t go wrong with any of their creations.
If it didn’t have the fake rivets and it had a date… I’d consider it. I’m part of the group that won’t buy a watch without a date. The watch is just a mechanism to change the date for me. When I go to the bank and fill out paperwork, I don’t need the time, when I fill out logs at work, ehhh mostly I don’t need the time, it usually the date that is the most important to me.
I haven't even noticed it doesn't have a date... wtf. I really wanted this, but I also noticed some of the watches don't have that pip at 12 centered which is a total dealbreaker for me.
The size doesn’t put me off as the owner of a Rolex OP 34mm as well as 40mm+ watches. It’s nice but I’d rather keep my 58 over this. I like the seconds hand but that’s about it. The silver on the bezel does not go with the gilt of the markers and hands for me. Much prefer the red triangle as well. Just my opinion.
I’m approaching a year with the 54 and with your encouragement, kept my 58. 58 wears slight better for my 6.5inch wrist. Hard to say why, exactly, since both are visually similar on wrist. That said, both are excellent, historic and NOT trying to be Submariners.
Agreed, they are not trying to be modern submariners. But the clue is in the name. 1954 inspired submariner, for design and proportions. They are vintage submariner homages, with snowflake hands(making it a homage) and a gilt finish to make it look aged. 54 black bay sounds nicer than Rolex submariner 1954 Tudor homage. It’s a lovely watch, based upon an icon of design. Rolex doesn’t look backwards with its designs, it has Tudor to do that for it. If Rolex launched a heritage range, it would leave Tudor with no designs at all.
@@gavinwhite9743Well stated. I’ll add that the 54 is an homage to the Tudor diver from 54 which was a more affordable copy of the Rolex, even including some shared parts. For me, I love the vintage aesthetic, history and the legitimate familial connection.
Had the 58 OG since 2019 and wear with the OEM nato.None of the later iterations have made me think I should have waited and its been warn daily. No quality issues.
Yeah Tudor QC has been awful for me. I bought a BB54 2 weeks ago. The first one had a problem with the movement so the AD took it back and gave me a new one (very nice of them) but the second one then had a physical manufacturing issue with the crown (glue all over the threads and inside it). I’m now left waiting for them to get another BB54 in but when it does I’m going to take a look at the 36 or maybe a different brand as well.
I wanted to buy BB54 few months ago but decided to wait and see what new watches will be released in this year watch and wonder. After seeing all the new watches, the BB54 is still the winner to me and I am set to buy it soon. I already have the BB58 blue and BB41 blue bezel for more than 2 years. I have large wrist and now I have a taste for vintage looking dive watch.
I got my wife one after seeing your review. It really is awesome. I sold a 5513 sub as well and it scratches the vintage itch without the stress. The COSC accuracy is very nice too.
The only thing Tudor needs to do is make half links. Thank goodness for Uncle Seiko for stepping into the void and making them. This watch is awesome - I don’t mind the faux rivets.
Uncle (Seiko) Straps sells an oyster style (with screw links) for the 54. I bought one last year and fitted the T-Fit. The 54 now looks awesome and the bracelet quality is superb!
I have two submariners (Hulk and Starbucks). I was very fortunate to purchase both at retail. The past few years, Tudor has been knocking it out of the park. Dollar for dollar I am giving the nod to Tudor. The bezel lines up better on my Tudor watches than my two Rolex subs. I love my Black Bay watches: black ceramic, Herrods edition, and GMT white dial. I believe Rolex is wanting to shift to the luxury market and they are wanting Tudor to take their place as a very reliable tool watch.
I own a couple Rolex watches, Omega, etc. This was the first watch I purchased new from a boutique and it has gotten 90% of my wrist time since buying. I get freaked out each time I look down and the watch is spot on with my iPhone. The thing I love most about this watch is the t-fit clasp spoiled me so bad that I cannot comfortably own a daily wear watch without a similar feature. This watch literally saved me 30k from buying the Day-Date I had my eye on because I just could not do it without the adjustment. best 4k I ever spent!
Quality micro-adjusts do spoil you. For sure. Of my watches my best micro-adjusts are actually in my Christopher wards. They have a superior design to most watches even the highest of the high end. Tudor does it really well, too.
The BB54 is very heavily vintage inspired, so the rivet style is appropriate for it - like the gilt accents. For a modern look they have the Pelagos 39 or the new BB41.
For me, the faux rivets for the first time just works on the BB54. Don’t like to see them on the other models… but again, it just works on the 54. I suppose because it’s more accurate to the watch it’s inspired by. The 58 and 41 are loosely accurate to the 1958 Tudor Sub.
I went to the AD to buy a 58, but the second I laid eyes on the 54, it was love. I have since steered my collection towards more small watches. Loving them. My BB54 still sits on the throne though.
I went into a shop to try on a Pelagos but ended up falling in love with this as well. Ended up leaving empty handed because I was too conflicted to make a decision then and there 😅
Borrowed this one from a friend and found it a bit delicate feeling. The crown is quite small. Wears more like a field watch. So I put it on a leather nato and then it all made sense! That's where this watch belongs
BB58 has too much gilt - less gilt on the bezel is better imo. The combo of white in the bezel with the gilt on the dial for the 54 works super well 👌🏻
I have learned to appreciate more the Oyster case design after acquiring the BB54 on release. I already own a Sub 41, DJ36, and OP36, but I never put too much attention on the case. I love how the BB54 sits elegant and slim on the wrist ❤ A true nod to the Subs of the past
Great Review im still on the fence on this one trying to decide between BB54, Vulcain Nautique 38mm, Aquastar Model 60 37mm and finally the Benrus Ultra-Deep 36.5mm. So 2 watches with date , 2 without date! A smaller wristed watch wearer never had this problem in the past of having a lot of smaller diver/skin divers to pick from!
As a swimmer, I need this feature (the clicky bezel). Also what seems to be missed often: Despite the 37mm it has 20mm lug width. It works with the proportions and it makes it a strap monster. All the 20 mm natos I already have, fit.
I'm considering it as an alternative to a Rolex Explorer 36 I can't get. Your points about the lightness and "forgetting I have it on" are just very important to me, too. My hope is that in the future, many more manufacturers (I'm thinking of you, Omega) will offer smaller watches that can be true Explorer alternatives. All the best.
This particular watch is special to you. Therefore you can never give anything near a fair review. I’m genuinely glad you have such a special watch, many people don’t. Mine is a black face Seiko 5 and I love it more than my steel/gold Daytona or my Snowflake GS. To me those are far more beautiful watches but the Seiko is a Father’s Day gift that 4 of my 6 kids went in together and bought for me. You Tudor is an awakening to live and how fleeting and precious it is so similar in its own way. That being said, 5 micro adjustments on the fly is almost worth it alone! Women shrink and grow sometimes hourly, and I myself have this issue when I’m working, (construction). I can go up a whole link size at the end of the day and on a strap it’s a new hole. Plus, let’s be honest, it’s got a “sexy” vintage size and look, but it’s just a bit larger and more legible and comes from a solid brand!
Tudor BB heritage was my 1. Watch. I own some divewatches.. actually the BB54 could be my second Tudor. Its the perfect watch and my advice for a one watch collection. I absolutely agree to your review. ❤
Cannot get enough of the 54. Right now, I have the BB Pro and a Speedy Reduced. The 54 and an Explorer 124270 would be my perfect collection. As of now 😂
Well, the Black Bay Pro gets most wrist time. Maybe because it feels more sturdy. If I had a 54 I think it would be the most worn. And the Speedy the least worn still.
Excellent video Britt 😊 I too have a BB54 and it's all I hoped for, living up to the hype. I wear it daily and it's a dream on the bracelet and straps. I agree with you that it's the best, all round dive watch I have tried. When combined with the G-Shock 5000U I have so many scenarios covered 😊
Just got the Black bay Chrono panda. Everything lines up. But as you know there is no rotating bezel or pip. Its a lovely watch though. Couldnt be happier
Me too going on a year with the bb54 and for some reason i love it more than when i first got it! The 54 have perfect proportions n color combinations, even the half gloss dial is perfect lol. I originally bought it on the bracelet now i wear it with the rubber strap and i like this look more! By the way your contents are awesome always so honest 👌🙂
As far as QC goes ... Rolex also have set to way lower QC they used to be ... especially when zooming in on the lume filled parts ... there is aost always not evenly applied lume....or sometimes even a little "over lumed" resulting into "spill"
Ouch! That bike accident. Ooh. Glad you recovered from it and bought that watch. It's a lovely watch. I have sub. I love this BB54's proportions. Yes, more colour options. Absolutely agree re that.
The lume pip on my bb58 blue was off center. They told me it was within Tudor spec and Tudor spec is not the same as Rolex spec (Also a Rolex customer for what that's worth). Also the 6:00 marker was off center and I have seen A LOT of examples with the same issue. It bothered me so much that I sold the watch which was heart breaking because had it not been for those small issues, I would have considered that the perfect daily watch.
I bought this watch in January 2024 after watching zillions of videos on RUclips (including yours). I already own watches from Rolex, Tag Heuer, Grand Seiko, Citizen and horror of horrors Apple. It's become my daily wear (relegated the Apple Watches to a bedside draw). I agree the colour means you can wear it with anything, the simplicity means it doesn't stick out,. I have skinny wrists for a man so this doesn't look like Goliath watch like some of the watches that are 41mm or larger. I have no issues with the faux rivets and Ive not had any issues with the Lum pips or triangle and Im a precision engineer by training and took a magnifying glass with me to the dedicated Tudor store at Westfield, Sheppards Bush just to make sure during my purchase. I have to say the service at the Tudor store at Westfield was equal to that received at Rolex (both owned by Watches of Switzerland) and that makes a difference to how you feel about a brand. For instance spend £ 4K on a Canon camera body as Ive done and the buying experience is rubbish by comparison. Tudor nailed it with this watch, nothing to change & nothing to alter.
I had a B54 and did like it but sole to make room for another watch. I seem to be the only one who has issues with the T-Fit. I had to add an aftermarket 1/2 link to this as well as the BB Pro when I had one. Even with the adjustment, just couldn't get the right fit.
I’m surprised they didn’t do any variations of the BB54 this year. I agree, the proportions of the watch are great! If they had a Pepsi version, I know my wife would want one. I’d wear it too! Last year I got the blue BB58 on the blue leather strap. If they had had a blue BB54, I may have gone for that instead.
Owning a Sub (1680) and a SD (116600), I have to say, that I love my 54! If you but it, because you want it and like the look and dimensions, it‘s a watch you will love. If you but it, because you want a Sub, you will be disappointed.
Great video! If you ever want to experience the 58 with T-Fit, just swap the 54s bracelet onto it, only catch is you have to use the 58s endlinks. Should work!
I am maturing with my scratched up damaged messed up but working Rolex! Sounds weird but if you heard of old men who wear their Rolex everyday before they died I know why! It’s one of those things.
This was the watch that got me interested in Tudor. I prefer it to a modern sub regardless of the price. The only thing that I don't like is the lume is not great. Only lasts 30 to 45 mins and isn't very bright. The winding is also so so but not a deal breaker. Maybe because my watch was early display model.
Yeah the Sub's a better specced watch however the 54's a more vintage inspired piece. It reminds me & draws so much from the 6200 which for me remains the ultimate watch.
Black Bay 54 is not my only watch but it is my favorite watch. perfect proportions for my itty bitty wrist and the look I drooled over as a kid. Solid and well built, been wearing it everyday for over a year
It’s a fantastic watch. Wear it in good health and enjoy it as much as you can.

I was very "meh" about this until I tried it on, as a vintage guy it really spoke to me.
@@napilut thats a bit shocking...
i disagree with your point at 9:09 about introducing more color variants to the bb54, i like the simplicity and lack of options as it makes it super iconic in my eyes and really puts it in its own category within a class of its own. also the faux rivets are absolutely a staple at this point, i think it’s one of those things that puts tudor in its own lane and separates it from the rest. it just wouldn’t feel the same without them at this point. other than that, great video! solid points regarding everything else!
I own this watch. The rivets are a plus, IMO. It makes the bracelet more masculine. In addition, its unique to tudor and identifiable.
@chriscon8463 I say go for it if you still can't get a good fit. The worst part is the $800 price tag
@@BennyLlama I’m thinking that might be the best bet. I could probably offset that by a bit by selling my BB58 bracelet & the Forstner, too.
I have a submariner cermit/starbucks, and while I love that watch the BB54 is a more versatile and wearable watch for most people. Its a super cool watch.
Yes. The BB54 is a lot more versatile than the cermit. Hopefully you were able to get the cermit at retail at your AD
OG BB58= GOAT
And Uncle Seiko is the only company I know that sells a short tropic strap at 65mm x 115mm - good for those with 6.5 inche wrist or smaller.
The BB54 is exactly what I had in mind. Absolutely love mine.
@@RabbitWatchShop the BB 58 also has a vintage look, so the rivets are very fitting. The blue version looks more modern.
Love the review. I actually like the rivets. Each to their own. I also truly like the BB58/54 more than the Rolex Submariner.
Keep up the great work.
I got one today. Loved the review.
Agree with you Brit! BB54 has perfect proportions to me
I went to the AD to buy a 58, but the second I laid eyes on the 54, it was love. I have since steered my collection towards more small watches. Loving them. My BB54 still sits on the throne though.
I went into a shop to try on a Pelagos but ended up falling in love with this as well. Ended up leaving empty handed because I was too conflicted to make a decision then and there 😅
I own It since 1 year and 1/2 year in i was questioning me If it was the right decision. Now i am really Happy with it!
Borrowed this one from a friend and found it a bit delicate feeling. The crown is quite small. Wears more like a field watch. So I put it on a leather nato and then it all made sense! That's where this watch belongs
I have a Tudor royale 41 silver with Diamond dial. Tudor is awsome
I agree with you. I bought my 58 because I wanted a 58. A submariner doesn’t appeal to me in their modern references.
The best choice is BB54 with the oyster bracelet that keeps the tclasp from Uncle straps. They even have the half link!! Perfect!!
What wrong with the original bracelet? Is it the rivets? Doesn't bother me in the least as I don't even notice them.
@@Mench951 after changing for the oyster bracelet, for me, it have became a much better watch.
you did a good job reviewing it! love it!
You're right. Quite often the "boring" watches are timeless. A companion to this watch could be the Rolex OP 36 with silver dial.
The bronze 58 comes with the T-fit clasp, and it’s amazing!
I finally picked up a 58 in blue - I thought it would be my only Tudor - love it so much I’d consider a 54 or that red bezel BB.
I’m a huge fan of the Pelagos 39… what a fabulous watch. And no faux rivets are a plus! I’m glad the BB54 works so well for you Britt!
I have a BB54 with an off-center lime pip. Way off center. But, I still LOVE the watch.
Britt keepin it real as always. Cheers from Idaho USA.
I sold a vintage Rolex Datejust to buy the BB54 the week after it came out - I now rock either this or a G-Shock and couldn’t be happier 🎉
Cannot get enough of the 54. Right now, I have the BB Pro and a Speedy Reduced. The 54 and an Explorer 124270 would be my perfect collection. As of now 😂
I have the 124270 and also very drawn to the BB54, but worried there's too much overlap between them 🤔
@@mazrashid6549, I think preferences over diversity. The heart wants what the heart wants 🤓😊
I have a speedy reduced and looking for 54. How do you feel about both vying for the same wrist time?
Well, the Black Bay Pro gets most wrist time. Maybe because it feels more sturdy. If I had a 54 I think it would be the most worn. And the Speedy the least worn still.
Excellent video Britt 😊
I too have a BB54 and it's all I hoped for, living up to the hype.
My wrist size is 6 inch. I seldom wear my 41mm submariner no date after I got BB54. My favorite watch❤
It’s the best watch!! The BEST!
I also have a baby wrist.
Ouch! That bike accident. Ooh. Glad you recovered from it and bought that watch. It's a lovely watch. I have sub. I love this BB54's proportions. Yes, more colour options. Absolutely agree re that.
I sooooooo nearly bought one of these in Heathrow. Still want one. Thanks for the long term review.
You nailed this review Brit. If anyone had second thoughts on buying a Tudor they wont now .Love my Tudor 41 GMT.
Yes! They always have gold dust on the dial… on both of my 58 and 54
The lume pip on my bb58 blue was off center.
Even with the adjustment, just couldn't get the right fit.
smaller diameter for me is point of strength, it gives the watch the timeless vintage look regardless of the wrest size .
Just picked up a Tudor Ranger 39mm on the bracelet. Super excited to get it in and see what this brand is all about!
Have my BB54 since Christmas and I love the vintage look.
Gringa Saturday 🎉
I totally love the 54, classic size, classic aesthetics, overall just a classy watch.
Hopefully Tudor will make it in more colors.
Hey, detailed and enjoyable video as always. Are you recovered from the surgery completely?
