A Fond Farewell to the 2014 Honda Pilot (and looking forward to a new Ford Explorer)

  • I don't get a new car very often. In this case, the new car will be a company car, which I'll be using for my work as a TV news photographer in Salt Lake City. In just a few days from now I'll be saying good-bye forever to this 2014 Honda Pilot and, instead, I'll be driving a new 2025 Ford Explorer for work. The Pilot has done its job well but, after ten years and over 206,000 miles, it has come to the end of its road. There are some mechanical problems which, if not repaired, will force the car off the road anyway. And it has been determined that it's not worth the expense to repair those problems. So the Honda will be "decommissioned" and the Ford Explorer will take over its duties.
In the coming days and weeks I will get to know this new Explorer and I will share my experiences in new videos too. I expect the new technology in the new vehicle to help me do my work more efficiently. And, as I adapt to driving a vehicle with a decade worth of advanced technology and engineering (compared to the older vehicle) I will share my learning curve insights. Please wish me luck as I endeavor to keep the new vehicle in excellent condition for the foreseeable future.
