Can definitely relate about the ear. I’m deaf in the same one and it’s asymmetrical due to a surgery I had when I was a kid. I’ve actually always thought it was cool that Colbert’s ear was the same as mine. I’m a musician and whenever anyone talks shit about my ears I can point to Colbert and say ‘that guy has a career in TV and musical theater’ to get them to shut up.

I never really paid attention to Stephen’s ear until he pointed it out tonight. It simply isn’t important. His skill as a comedian, late night host, and overall great human being are the things that really matter.

I've been watching a family of raccoons for about 20 years and they have several Generations hanging out together. They live for 25 to 40 years so they undoubtedly have family relationship, they travel together eat together and the only thing I haven't seen them do is groom together.

I've ben watching the Colbert show for years and I have never ONCE noticed the ear until now XD. The ear isn't who you are Stephen, your wit and creative vocabulary and nerdy knowledge are why we watch and keep watching.
I'm 75 and a mmj patient and to date our stoners are too busy trying to act straight.
In southeast Asian countries, the older you are the bigger your birthday party is supposed to be. It's an acknowledgement of how you managed to still remain healthy enough to be alive and kicking despite being older than dirt. It also speaks to how much life experiences you've accumulated and how you're supposed to be a treasure trove of life lessons and guidance for the inexperienced young folks.
So why shouldn't they throw Grampa Joe a birthday bash? He managed to remain alive and healthy at 80 AND holding the toughest job in the country! Give him his party, dammit!
