This sounds just as good at 55Hz as Tim Folin originally intended. This soundtrack still blows me away at how good it sounds, Tim Folin was a master of what ever system he did music for.
Thanks very much! In the description you say "...he purposely made the soundtrack slower for PAL so NTSC would sound alright" but I think you mean slower for NTSC so PAL would sound alright.
Can never understand the logic of why some European sound developers adjust their music as they intend them to sound on 60Hz equipment and make them sound wrong in their own regions speed WTF? John Burton from Traveller's Tales claimed that all Traveller's Tales games were designed with 60Hz in mind even though they were a UK based developer in a 50Hz region. Makes no sense why they ignore their own region. 'It's like saying ''yeah we're gonna make our games play perfectly on the other side of the world and forget about our own region''. If you're in the U.S. you make them better for 60Hz, if you're in Europe, you should make them play better in 50Hz.
@@Oysterblade84fair point. Ideally all games would have been optimised for 60hz and 50hz. However time and cost is an issue. Catering to the faster refresh rate and two of the three markets is the better than the other way around. Personally I play all games in 60hz save for those few that were optimised for 50hz despite having grown up in a PAL region.
@@MrLazenby007 I disagree with that. For a game developer, I don't think it's wise to cater to something where your product is going to function in a different manner than what it would in your home town and doesn't match your home base criteria. It should be made to work at it's best in the region where the developer developed it but that's just my personal view.
I used the VGM player and set the playback scale to be slightly faster to reach 55hz since I was using the PAL VGM set which is 50hz. The player creates a ROM that can be run on a real console, and this was captured the same way as my other recordings. This way is essentially the same as if the music was programmed for 55hz, and should be higher quality compared to simply increasing the playback speed of the recording.

This game deserved to came out officially, such a shame it didn't.

I added his quote to the description so hopefully it makes more sense

malibu interactive: we need a soundtrack for this game which will never see the light of day
tim follin: (flaming piano meme)
that’s a pretty nice eye
11:58 wow, this riff is sick!
How did you set the playback speed to 55hz? How was this played back/captured?

while I like the way the ntsc version sounds more, this ones also extremely nice. not a huge fan of how the pal version sounds personally.
