All about the prep. U should also heat it up and wipe the flux again. Then soldier . Wait till it solidifies before wiping down. U can see a change in the soldier when its solidified
Flux draws the solder. If you wipe flux all over the copper after soldering while it's still hot, then you'll suck the solder back out of the fitting resulting in a half sealed fitting or a leak
Mediocre solder. FYI your torch is full of solder from holding it under fittings and dripping solder. I can tell by the flared out flame. Use another torch to heat it up and melt it out or buy a new one
The most important copper soldering tip: Wait for the green flame. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then you’re not soldering copper correctly.
@@HomeRepairTutor internally flushing the fitting leads to solder build up in the pipe work.I prefer to flux the pipe only. Also the brass requires alot more heat than the copper for the solder to take
Make sure to wipe off any excess Flux from your fittings afterwards to prevent corrosion. It looks like he did, he just didn't show it.
Yes, he wiped excess
This is way too advanced. I'm good just replacing a toilet lid
Always solder bottom to top on a horizontal or you'll get flux inclusions.
Make sure if you’re working on portable water you use lead free flux and solder
It is bad practice to rapidly cool or shock a joint with flux or water..
Yes it’s bad, why would you think this is ok?
Clothing the pipe not on the fitting
Absolutely......
You had me until you used a brush to remove the solder drip
Dude, lots of plumbers do that...and it's to help clean the joint when finished
Its not to remove the solder drip. It's to clean the copper. Rook.

Nah I’m with you only the noobs do that stuff
Applying more flux doesn't clean ANYTHING. It just adds more of that nasty green corrosion. Use soapy water and a clean rag. ya silly old hacks

Nice did you get that pad at Home Depot?
I ordered it online but I believe you can buy them at home stores, too
@@HomeRepairTutor appreciate it
Grande 👍🏻
it is hard to solder in tight space were in you don’t have an eye in the opposite side unless i have handy mirron farther way from the flame.
They have endoscope these days aswell
DIYer... Armature... like me.
IS. THAT. NUMBER. 9. SOLDER. ?

That joint is trash
Just a burnt brush
