- How To Increase VRAM On Lenovo Legion GO - Quick Easy Guide
Currently we only have access to 3GB, 4GB & 8GB VRAM options on the Legion GO, the community has requested for more options to be added in a future BIOS Firmware update and all we can do for now is wait for Lenovo to add this in the future.
I use 8GB VRAM for big AAA games such as RDR2, GTA5 & Cyberpunk 2077 although your experience may differ, I hope this quick guide is useful to you alll & let us know in the comments which VRAM choice you prefer at the time of writing for your games!
Depending on your choice, this is the minimum reservation set aside for games as VRAM (Video RAM - Random Access Memory).
Please take note that this is not an increase of your Total VRAM, this is the minimum amount set so that your memory over time is reduced with a higher minimum applied.
Increasing our VRAM exists to prevent the CPU evicting VRAM when the Legion's GPU requires increased allocation.

Can anyone tell me why my legion go screen stays on after being connected with cabel to the tv , I thought it turns off or do I have to change some settings 🤔 can't be right both screens are running
Thanks man following you with my steam deck and now my Lenovo legion 💪🏼😎
Awesome. Thank you! 3gb to 4gb is lovely headroom. Best tweak since that time I downloaded more RAM
Thanks man, straightforward and simple
Once again ,very easy to follow and great for a noob like me who soesnt even know you could or needed to do this !
Straight forward, correct, and easy tutorial! Thank you
Appreciate your videos man you’ve really helped me dial in the most optimal settings to be able to enjoy most games on my Legion Go.
Keep them up!
Tks for the video, bring in more LLG content
Thank you very much ... very useful video.
Thanks. Had to change for Rachet and Clank Rift Apart
Thnx.
3 4 6 8 gb are jow added to the menu for choice. Thanks for this easy to follow tutorial!!!
JOW
I set 8G 💪 Its work
Is there any difference between 4Gb and 8Gb with fan work? And if it is different in games?
Thanks for your tutorials!
What vram size did you choose for Alan Wake 2?
When i do this, the memory inside of directx isn't showing it changed. In fact, it says it's using 2gb of ram even though i set it to 4gb. Help?!
Hey, im about to buy one i just need to know, since i want to use it like a steam deck pro, is 800/900p good looking on the panel? Can you do 40/50hz? Arbitrary framerates and refresh rates? I dont want to push it to high resolutions and framerates since i want good battery life. Thanks!
Yes it oooks and runs good even at 800p. Battery life is muchoooo better than my steam deck. Enjoy, loving mine so far!
I set mine you 8... Probably will have to adjust it again.
When does this man sleep? 🤣 🤣 🤣
Tried to get cold war to run on 4gb of vram it just keeps crashing but on 8gb its fine did the apu driver and integer scaling tried to update amd software but it says theres no amd software on my system eventhough i have access to amd adrenaline.

shouldn't it be better to put it at 8 vram???
What did you type after you hit run?
What happened if i choose 6Gb instead of 4gb ?
What happens if this didn’t fix my ram it’s still sitting at a good 1949?
I hope they add 5 and 6GB options
I had them
@@TheRealist1. Hmm, video shows only 3, 4, and 8GB options in the dropdown.
@@marekkedzierski8237 that's cool and all, but I chose 8.

Ok so ow I know we can change the VRam so what the best configuration for. The vram or is just difference preference for everyone?
Depends on the game 4GB seems to be good for most, I prefer 6GB which you can obtain by installing the new 25WW BIOS, I made a recent video for it here - ruclips.net/video/G5T5Q6uU5eU/видео.html
Why did Lenovo put only 3gb of original vram? I think it can!
where did you get the legion video startup from?
Lenovo updated Legion Space early on to remove that video as the community overwhelmingly did not like it 😆
It did look cool for sure but when you load windows you just want to get in to what you were going to do.
Is it safe to set the vram to 8gigs? Do you recommend going back and lowing the vram when performing less demanding tasks?
Good question. I am wondering the same thing why they choose 4GB only
It will reduce the RAM, only 16Gb in Legion Go, so you should balance it, depend what you looking for
6gig or 4 gig is the best spot.
Windows uses some of your ram to run shit in the background
So if you allocate 6gig to the vram you're left with 10gig and windows will take 2gig leaving you with 8gig of ram to run games
@@Despicable_GamerWindows takes more than 3gb of ram, Windows takes 4 of ram
@@Despicable_Gamer thank you, I bumped it up to 8gigs of vram. Everything seems to be running fine.
I did this earlier this morning and wow what a big change in performance. Forza Horizon 5 runs smooth now. I'm not even sure why they did 3GB in the first place. I was guessing on how to get into the bois and did it after 2 tries. 😊
How many vrams did you put in 4 or 8?
@@MICK458 4. Never use 8.
Why shouldn't you use 8? I'm a novice when it comes to pc optimization.
@@Legendary_Honey cause this iGPU will never push hard enough to need 8. 6 would be the max I would when they make it available. The more VRAM the less system RAM you will have and some games needs a lot of it. Look at Alan Wake 2, it needs 16GB! You will get an error every time when loading it cause devices like this won't have that much available no matter what. This is why I feel like 32GB of RAM is best for iGPU devices so what you could use 8gb of VRAM all the time.
That makes sense. Thanks for the quick response!
Why even have 3G in the first place lenovo? 4G should be the default just like my rog ally. They need to add 6G thats the sweet spot for most games in my opinion.
I don't understand why Lenovo put 3GB of original vram, I find it very weak
Does anybody know if I could change the VRAM after I change the System to "Steam OS"? Is these options to change after doing that?
Yes you can change it fine as normal just access the BIOS 😊
Is the performance noticeable going from 3 to 4GB VRAM?
Yes
Is it bad to change the beam to 8gb ?
6gig or 4 gig is the best spot.
Windows uses some of your ram to run shit in the background
So if you allocate 6gig to the vram you're left with 10gig and windows will take 2gig leaving you with 8gig of ram to run games
Now time to upgrade the 2 modules to 2x8 so you can do full 8G for vram ;P
I selected 8
You can already
Only 3, 4 and 8 GB? 😂 Golden Asus Rog Ally. It has auto VRAM and a choice of 1 to 8 GB.
This will probably happen in future updates
Hi I tried it but it didnt work. When I go to the bios menu it says 4gb, but when I use the diagnos tool it still only shows the default amount. Any Idea why its not updating it?
Make sure you select "save and exit" before you reboot.
@TheRealist1. Hi I did select save and exit and it did not work
@@Eclipse401 it was a suggestion... Mine would keep switching back to 4, and I used the Joycon/mouse to make selections to finally get it done. My BIOS menu was finicky with touch.
@@TheRealist1. Ok. I saw online that theres a glitch that keeps your AMD stuck at 2gb, and when you try to change to 4gb, or 8gb it will not work. They said you have to reflash bios to get it to work again. Haven't tried it yet but will when I get home.
BRO BRO CHILL OUT THE LEGION IS JUST OUT AND THEY ARE CHANGING THE VRAM ALREADY!! THATS CRAZY!!
?
It’s recommended to run at atleast 4gb of vram buffer size to get best performance for the most part
It's not a physical modification dude. It's super simple, needed, and extremely common to do on these handhelds.
i changed it but its still showing that im running at 2gb
Did you ever figure out why it didn't update it?
You doing something wrong
@@Eclipse401???
@@MICK458 ?
I looked online and it says it could be a glitch that keeps it locked at 2gb even tho you change it in bios. I haven't tried it yet cause I'm at work now, but they said to reflash bios and that will fix it.
Why not just set it to AUTO? to let it use as much as it needs
Auto is not an option currently
@@DeckWizardit is now
And what is this suppose to do?

Good question.
So what does it mean in English? Game language!
More is gooder. Too much more is less gooder. Got it? Good
@@ihad2reload then why is there an option to increase vram to begin with? Just set it to max
