I kinda prefer their reactions to the original LadyBaby lineup or maybe Deadlift Lolita... I mean the new lineup for LadyBaby is pretty good and sound better lol, but the reactions to Ladybeard specifically are so great ^_^.
Deadlift Lolita were starting to get pretty good too, I think Ladybeard's regular singing was starting to get pretty decent... Hope they're still working on music, though I expect the two of them have other commitments to work on too..

@@sherwinpagsuyoin59 Band Maid and Babymetal are the product of the same corporate music industry. Jinjer Piisces and Nightwish are a bit more self-directed and "genuine". But there are dozens of other groups that are as good or better. You need to browse some indie groups instead of just the Avex and Sony acts.

Excellent reaction and some sad truths spoken at the end. Lead singer Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) has been singing and dancing on stage since she was 8 and was a child model and actress even before then. Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) did much the same from a similar age.
In 2010 BABYMETAL were formed and have continued to develop around Su-metal (she was 12 at that time, Yui and Moa are 18 months younger and were 11) because of her unusually powerful (for a pop singer) singing voice (she really is better live) and stage presence. They started as a sub-unit of a J-pop group called Sakura Gakuin and, against all the odds, quickly gained some very unexpected popularity - unexpected because nobody thought the idea of fusing metal with J-pop style vocals would ever work, least of all their agency who could see no future or anything in it for them and provided very little or nothing in terms of funding for them at the start.
They became so popular that when it came time for Su-metal to graduate from Sakura Gakuin in 2013 (it is a group for girls aged 11 to 15 and has a school theme) Babymetal split from that group to go with her and to become a separate band in their own right (Yuimetal and Moametal continued to work simultaneously in both bands until they also graduated from SG in 2015).
Since they separated from Sakura Gakuin they have gone from strength to strength. In 2016 their second album ('Karate' was the lead single) was the first by a Japanese act to break into the top 40 of the Billboard charts in 53 years. They released their third album last month and it reached number 13 in the Billboard top 200 charts (the highest ever by a Japanese act singing in Japanese) and achieved number 1 in the hard rock and rock charts - the first ever Asian band to do this.
In 2014 they became the youngest average age female band (Su was 16, Yui and Moa were 14) to headline at The Budokan in Tokyo and sold out two nights before venturing outside of Asia for their first world tour. 2016 they sold out the Tokyo Dome (55,000 people) two nights running and were the first Japanese band to headline at Wembley Arena in London. Just last month they completed a 20 date headlining tour of the US including their first US arena show at the Forum in LA.
Yuimetal sadly left the band a year ago having been absent from their tours and live shows for the previous 12 months because of an undisclosed injury or health problem. Su-metal and Moametal have continued as a duo supported this year by any one of three dancers (known as "Avengers") taking the third spot in turns for live shows. Where Su-metal is the lead singer, Moametal and the chosen 'Avenger' are no less important as they involve and lead the audience in the live shows, when they do certain moves in songs so will the audience and the audience will sing along with Moa's lines.
Since the end of 2013 they have been supported in all live performances by the Kami Band (the musicians you saw here), some of Japan's very best musicians. On the US tour this year the Japanese members of the Kami band were not available (they all have their own projects and bands etc) and they were supported by American musicians who did the Kami Band proud.
You will be hard pressed to find any two of their songs that sound alike, they have songs in virtually all metal genres (thrash, speed, power, black, death, djent, folk, prog and so on) and are not afraid to incorporate other musical genres within those songs (ska, reggae, EDM, dubstep, rap, swing/ragtime and more - most recently they have released a song with strong Indian influences), but they do it all so well that somehow it works.
Some songs lean more towards their pop roots, but the metal is always in there to a greater or lesser degree, others are very much metal. Some of their earlier songs in particular produce a "WTF!" reaction from people seeing them for the first time - and the members know this perfectly well.
Videos of their live performances are where you will really see them at their best (although the official videos are very good) as you could tell from this one. That was the last song of that concert, they'd been singing and dancing like that for and hour/an hour and a half by then and still they had that energy and gave 100%, as they always do in every live show. They were aged 17 and 15 here - and that was a sold out crowd of 20,000, every one of them completely in their control.
At the end of shows they finish with calling out "We are" - "BABYMETAL" and they mean everybody there, them, the band, the audience - everybody is BABYMETAL. They call their fans 'The One' and they mean it - everybody there is The One. As you heard right at the end, until last year they would call out "See you" as they walked off stage, just as a goodbye.
They have choreography for all their songs and their choreographer is one of Japan's best - Mikiko Mizuno is involved in the opening ceremony for the Tokyo Olympics next year and choreographed Japan's part of the Rio Olympics.
I would suggest 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 (it is on RUclips) for your next reaction.
Apologies for the much too long comment, but if you are going to do more BABYMETAL it helps to know what to expect ... and you will still be surprised every time.

God you went stright in with Road of Resistance you never stood a chance welcome to the fox hole. Well Grington give you low down on BabyMetal. BabyMetal gets huge support from not just Japan but every country in the world . They have just finnished another sell out tour of the US finnishing with a stadium show . They doing a European tour from Switzerland right through Europe then four shows in the Uk . Then to Russia for 2 shows . As being said live BabyMetal it is awsome watching them live on video but being in the audience is whole diffrent experience that fans travel thousands of miles to see them . I done a round trip of 500 miles and stood 7 hours in a queue last time in July in London to see and will be doing the same in February . BabyMetal are a force for good singing positve songs and songs that put a big smile on your face no matter how bad a day you have had. Hope you react to another video by them . There break through festival apperance in the UK in 2015 is a bit of BabyMetal lore ." Ijime Dame Zettai "at the Sonisphere metal festival .60.000 hardcore metal fans VS BabyMetal

In case you still need the lyrics, here's the rough translation:
    ROAD OF RESISTANCE
The light of the bonfire that burns the eastern sky red
It’s the sign of the end of dark solitude
    If they beat you down
    , again and again
Burn up the flame in your hearts!
Now is the time (is the time!)
It’s the time (is the time!)
    Now in this moment
It’s the time, is the time
    We live together
(Just now is the time! It’s the time!)
    We sing for your tomorrow
    Now, the time has come
    Resistance! Resistance!
    Wow-wow-wow-wow
    Our hearts are one
If you believe in, just go forward
    Though the road is uncharted
    Forever, forever
    Wow-wow-wow-wow
    Deep in our hearts
    The metal heart is burning
    It is our RESISTANCE!
    [guitar solo]
    [chant]
    [guitar solo]
As far as we are alive
    We will never turn back
    It’s today that makes tomorrow
So our future is on the way
    [Shout: Come on guys!!!!!]
    Resistance! Resistance!
    Stand up and shout
    Justice forever
If you believe in, just go forward
You can find the answer right here
    Forever! Forever!
    Wow-wow-wow-wow
    Deep within our hearts
    The metal heart is burning
    It’s our RESISTANCE!

The thing with Babymetal they didn't used to be that big in Japan. Yes they could get a crowd of 5k in Tokyo, but didn't go out side the city. What helped Babymetal was going overseas and doing a small tour taking in Sonisphere (a UK metal festival) and also supporting Lady GaGa on part of her US tour, something that caught the Japanese music media by suprise and they started to ask who was this unknown Japanese band doing all this. After that they just expoled in Japan to being the 2nd most known metal band, behind X-Japan.
They are also big outside Japan and getting bigger. Last month they played the LA Forum, they have also done Wembely Arena. Watch "Karate live @ UK Download 2016" which was recorded by the festival people so does not have all the extra bits that can be added by offical releases.

The key is that he said we USED to support our bands back in the 80s and 90s. But he is right about modern music. Most big musicians sparkle for 2-5 years, then you never hear them on the radio again. Companies are always looking to replace you instead of investing in an act that can last generations (say Bon Jovi for example).
Babymetal has been going for 9 years now and its been 5 years since their first album. Not a single group I know of sounds or shreds like they do, which is crazy given their success. They are the first Japanese band to make it on the US Billboards top 40, so that should say something. They are only getting bigger as they play at more western festivals it seems.

    • @heavynova
      @heavynova 4 года назад

It's true that Babymetal is not the biggest thing in Japan, they are the biggest internationally FROM Japan. There are many bigger artists Arashi, Utada, AKB48 (which I can't watch they are not selling music). If you like this check out Perfume, they are the big sister group that made Babymetal's choreographer Mikiko famous. Perfumes music is berry different though you might not like it, if you want to get into that group is reccomend starting with the Edge live performance. It's the closest to this in terms of energy and music.

Great react. You had mentioned the reaction of the audience in Japan compared to the US. BabyMetal audiences love them no matter where they play in the world. The reaction is the same. They recently toured the US and the audience reaction was similar. One guy reported that at a concert on the East coast in the song Karate when the girls fall down, the audience took a knee. When they play Road of Resistance anywhere in the world, the audience reaction is similar to what you just saw.
Next I would suggest Legend of 1997 Head Banger and Pa Pa Ya feat. F. Hero.
as for other groups, Band Maid from Japan is good and The Warning Band from Mexico is great especially their two land mark songs, Dust to Dust and The End (Stars Always Seem To Fade).

The t-shirt with "Live Indoor Concert" fits the reaction :-)
Yep, Babymetal little girls with metal music, not your average metal band. ;-) Nobody thought this would work, on paper it shouldn't work.
But as you clearly noticed, they are powerful stuff, dare I say: they are as metal as any other metal artist.
They are like rock legend, bad-ass rock stars, but without the sex, drugs, etc. so they are something for little girls to look up to (well, grown up men too, lot of those could learn something from them).
"whatever they are doing in the moshpit" enjoying themselves with big smiles on their faces !
Babymetal live is best Babymetal, as you can see from this live performance.
I think BTS is K-Pop (so Korean, but Babymetal is from Japan).
Little fact: the guitar parts of this song where written in collaboration with the guitarists from Dragonforce.
I would say Babymetal does & does not represent Asia in the way that you said, Babymetal stage presence & their passion to perform comes from the girls, it's innate I think. Yes, they put in the hours, etc. but without their passion it would not work.
Hope you do more Babymetal reactions ! Also because every song is different, very different indeed.

My theory of Japanese audiences is that it's in their culture It's not surprising that a culture that turns drinking a cup of tea, or putting dirt and rocks in your backyard into a well-corographed ceremony would turn a concert into a ceremony for both musicians and fans ... everyone in the audience knows the band, knows the songs, and knows when and how to react to every part of the song ... that's why I have several 'Japanese Band live in concert in Japan' on my bucket list!! :-)

I have seen them in concert here in the US many times over the years, and the girls get the same response out of the crowds here. Maybe not as enthusiastic, but they're teaching us.
Excellent reaction, Babymetal is very good about not putting anything on record they can't do live. I respect that about them, although as you watch more videos, you realize Su-metal is a very talented and versatile singer. She has been a professional since age 10, when she sang the theme song for an anime. Babymetal is something of a surprise, it debuted in 2010, and always had this effect on the crowd. They were born to this. When Babymetal played Sonisphere in 2014, they thought they had a small crowd, but when they walked out on stage it was 60,000-65,000. They were 15-16 at the time. Su said "now this will be fun." Hard to tech that level of confidence. Gifted young ladies.
You remind me of an interview I saw of Steven Tyler once of Aerosmith. He was discussing a new album that was coming out, and talked a bit about the process. And Steven talked about hitting some high notes on a song, and Joe Perry turned to him and said "you sure you want to do that? Because you'll have to sing it every night on tour." Steven said Joe does that all the time. More artists need a Joe Perry in their corner.
Saw you make a face a couple times on notes. Su can sing an E5 without using falsetto; she sings around the female break and is quite comfortable doing so. Talented band all around.

When this was recorded, the lead singer, Suzuka Nakamoto aka SuMetal had just turned 17 years old. Can you imagine having the stage presence needed to have 20,000 people eating out of your hands like that, at that age?
Sadly, you're absolutely right. Asia is kicking our ass when it comes to the music industry. The rock and metal coming out of Japan and the pop coming put of South Korea is putting most of the artists in America to shame. It's no wonder more and more people in the west are becoming kpop and jrock fans.
    BTS is Korean, btw.
Great reaction. I love seeing peoples' first reaction to Babymetal. As you can imagine, it can go one of three ways. Either they love it, like you did, they hate it or they're simply confused and can't decide if they like it or hate it (or even if it's okay to like it in the first place). After a few songs most of the people on the fence come around. Even some of the haters come around too, which is good. Anyway, keep up the good work. I look forward to more of your reactions.

If you want to see star power and commanding an audience, if you find thier performance at I think its Download in 2016, its incredible. They were meant to be a small stage as they were new, no-one knew them so they were meant to go perform infront of a couple thousand tops, mostly of those that either heard them before or went to smaller stages for the more random bit. They somehow ended up doing the gig on the main stage infront of about 25k. Its a hardcore metal festival full of metal heads expecting blood and death and violence XD. These 3 girls walk out... and the crowd is like, the fuck is this. They proceed to turn that whole crowd around, they have them singing back lyrics in japanese, they are directing mosh pits. It's one the most phenomal pieces of stage craft you'll ever see from a band that none of them were there to see.

Haha, that was a nice reaction, they got you good. :-) BABYMETAL is the No. 1 source of joy on this planet. I love them! A few years ago I would never have believed that Metal could make me smile so much! And live it’s even better!
This was a great performance, but I think this song doesn’t paint a complete picture of their awesomeness. A big part of their uniqueness is the amazingly successful fusion of J-Pop and Metal (and a few other genres alongside way). Since this song is pretty far on the Metal side of the spectrum, I‘d love if you checked out one of their more playful songs as well.
My recommendation would be „Megitsune“. The official video is great, but it tends to get blocked, so I‘d recommend this live version: ruclips.net/video/dU38CYkpBvI/видео.html. As you might guess, you can never go wrong with a live version in their case.

Everything what you have said in this video is so true... I've been into music since years and I have noticed that Japanese people are incredible supportive for music artist, especially at concerts. I remember watching a video on yt with pretty known metalcore band playing on "street scene" and there was like maybe 50 people and those 50 ppl gave more emotional and supportive reactions and enjoyable feedback for the artist than some bigger concerts in different places over the world. I've never seen "bad" japanese concerts or anything. They just enjoy and show those ppl who make the music that its so worth it and not only for what they love to do, but for their reactions too. Amazing reaction and I can easily tell that you're amazing person aswell I found you by accident, but it was worth it :D

Babymetal was built around Su-metal, the main singer, at this concert she is 17. Yui-metal and Moa-metal are 15. All of them have been performing from about 6 yo. You should checkout some of their earlier MV's; I suggest Karate and Headbanger, from there check the 2014 Sonisphere videos. Babymetal is most famous/popular Japanese band internationally that you've never heard of. Welcome to the Foxhole!!

The difference in Japanese versus American or “Western” entertainment industries is that there are no millionaire artists in Japan. They’re usually under contract to one particular management agency or another and are treated more like well paid employees. The money and revenues go primarily to the agencies. So you don’t see the spoiled, obnoxious prima donna behaviors we’re accustomed to here. To make a good living, it’s not unusual for musicians to be in 3 or 4 different bands plus have their own solo projects. Every member of the Kami Band (who you just saw playing behind the girls) are in multiple projects.💪🏻🤘🏻

Thanks for choosing to react to BABYMETAL, they're amazing! As someone who is new to the group, I thought I'd give you and your followers a little background on them.
BABYMETAL is a Japanese Kawaii Metal group consisting of (for the most part) SU-METAL on lead vocals, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL on backing vocals/dancing, or "SCREAM AND DANCE" as they like to call it. I say 'for the most part' as Yui & Moa have a few songs that they do as duets without Su and Su has a few songs she does as solos whilst Yui & Moa take a well deserved break.
They were formed in 2010 as part of the idol group Sakura Gakuin, before touring on their own in 2011 and have gone from strength to strength.
They started singing to backing tracks with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play instruments (known as BABYBONES) but soon incorporated the Kami Band into their concerts, bringing them in full time at the end of 2013. The Kami Band consists of some of Japan's premier musicians on rotation based on availability. The most popular configuration consisting of Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka on guitar with Leda Cygnus as stand-in, BOH on bass and Aoyama Hideki on drums. These are the people you will see most often in videos. Since the untimely passing of Mikio at the end of 2017 they have enlisted the talents of Isao Fujita on guitar. At the end of 2018 YUIMETAL left the band because of health problems and in 2019 there are 3 girls named AVENGERS that will take her place in a rotating manner.
Below is a list of some of their best performances that I hope you will consider for future reactions. Should you decide to do more BABYMETAL reactions in the future, you should be aware that RUclips will block almost all videos that incorporate audio. The best way round this is to mute the video and provide a link that we can open in a new window and sync with yours. Just give us a countdown before you start playing it. The BABYMETAL fandom is very used to this way of doing things.

Good news bud they have gone on world tours.
The first one was in 2014 and they were told that they could get bood off the stage and things thrown at them if the metal heads in other countries did not like them.
So they had taken that information and gave even more energy to the international tours and every one around the world loved BabyMetal that it ended up looking like the Japanese live tours with crowd surfing and mosh pits.
No BabyMetal were harmed during there world tour. :)
And even though I don't know Japanese I know from other "Reaction videos" that the titles of the music might seem shallow like Give Me Chocolate yes it is talking about Chocolate but also talking about yes they want it but also resisting it as they do not want to get fat.

Ok...wow...I subscribed! what a pure and fantastic reaction video!!
The lack of any prejudice (ie the usual "oh those crazy Japanese etc") and your insightful acknowledgement of both what you are seeing in this video, plus the current state of music vs the "Asian" market was spot on!
I was a Prince fanatic most of my life (82-his death) seeing him over 20 times live, plus music of all kinds, but when I discovered the Japanese Idol genre around 2007, I never looked back. I watched these three (Su, Moa and Yui) grow up, since 2010 when they were 11 years old and in the wonderful Idol group Sakura Gakuin. This love of the Idol genre has taken me on amazing music trips to Japan twice where I have seen in upwards of 50 concerts (90% idols).
Babymetal being the one breakout crossover group have toured the world and i have been lucky enough to have seen them now 6 times all here in America, the last time as reecently as two months ago in Chicago.
I appreciate your enthusiasm, passion and intelligence on this and look forward to seeing more from your channel!

Search Sakura Gakuin (Japanese: さくら学院, 'Cherry Blossom Academy') an you will see the years these girls put in from a very young age performing in front of the camera. Same with groups like Blackpink from Y.G Enterprises a Korean-Pop music industry promoter (K-Pop Idol group). J-Pop- Idol Schools such as Sakura Gakuin in Japan and K-Pop Idol companies such as Y.G. in South Korea are very different from the western music industry. Most do not allow any of their Idols to have any romantic involvement (not allowed to date) while they are under contract and Y.G Enterprise will not let any of their idols even drive a car and in most cases go out in public without body guards or some sort of supervised escort. They have pretty strict contracts but understandably they also have a lot of money invested in years of training with their Idols. Image is very important in promotion with these groups.
