I’ve been a huge fan of the blueSky in the past, but I think this pedal might be even better. That forte mode is just mental. It sounds like the LOTR soundtrack to my ears.
i have been using the BlueSky for a long time, like you. Preferred it to the BigSky actually because that is much too complex for me. Added the Cloudburst recently and use it as an input for the BlueSky: The Cloudburst is really used as the most versatile reverb for individual instruments, and the blueSky used mostly for mastering.
Valhalla delay and the Strymon big sky plugin is superior because I can finely tune my spatial settings to a far greater degree of complexity, sub harmonics and harmonics ❤
Months ago I completed my pedal boards for the 6- and 12-string acoustics. My duo partner has a full board for her electro-harp. Our sound is established. Now this thing comes along.
@@anthonyfox1436 Update: I bought a Cloudburst & put it on a small board with an expression pedal, a shimmer unit and a rotary pedal. I use it for all amplified gigs and it's always on. It didn't sound as good as you'd expect on the electro-harp but on the guitar it's really something.
I love the Cloud setting on the Big Sky, and I love the idea of a compact stomp box size pedal from Strymon. I hope they make more this size in full stereo.
Your videos are wonderful. I’ve been getting interested in Ambient tones but only have a Flint and the Providence delay. Do you think it’s better to start with the Cloudburst or the Brig delay? I’ve seen you use both successfully.
Oh man watching your videos is so inspiring for me and not so for my poor bank account. Lol I have the Big sky ..do you think there is such a difference that I need to buy this.. because I want to lol. You are a fabulous musician!!
Thank you for all these great Cloudburst vids, would it be worth it to do a comparison with the BlueSky? I have the Blue and Night Sky pedals and have been pondering whether to get a Big Sky.. now the Cloudburst is out I may have to get one instead. (or the old 'why not both' eh?). Any suggestions which would be a nice addition to a BlueSky.
Hello Antoine. Love your videos. I have a question about this video. Is this only the cloudburst I hear, or are you using some other effects in this video?? I am very interested to purchase a cloudburst
2:37 that sounds absolutely crazy. Just sell your mel9s and boss sy 1s and get this Thats what I have been saying for years, strymon must make an instrument\orchestral style pedal with brass, flutes, strings organs and stuff. They would kill it

I have the Big Sky and the Cloud setting is my go to engine for the really ambient stuff. The cloudburst does the cloud and then some. I would seriously consider the cloudburst if that's the sound you're going after. I'm seriously considering putting it on my board possibly replacing the Big Sky.
Never owned a Strymon but always wanted one. Problem with the other Strymon pedals is the price and too many unusable sounds. Bought this one and just bought a bigger board to add it to my HX Stomp, which just can’t do these tones.
I would say nightsky shimmer is the best alternative to shimmer. Just because nightsky sounds so much more real than bigsky and there it excells with shimmer. Instead of bigskies very unnatural shimmer Allthough I must say i am jealous of cloudburst. Which I will not get. Hecause I have Verb with Bigsky nightsky and even volante and since I have volante combined with TL i have become delay dude
Antoine, need help… neunaber immerse mkII or cloudburst? I haven’t got any opportunity to try them. But i’ve got lack of money😅 So i need advice which one to choose 👀
I think the Neunaber Immerse MkII sounds incredible and is more versatile. The Cloudburst is great if you like the sound of the ''Ensemble'' specifically.
Yeah I never fully liked the shimmer on the BigSky. It’s almost too clean or something. I much prefer the Mr. Black eterna for shimmer but it’s only mono 😢
IMO It's very easy for the shimmer to be annoying. Some shimmer effects are simply unusable, i.e. the Atlantic's. If there's no Tone knob, (or better, a Low Pass filter), it's very hard to be good.

My EHX Mel-9 sort of does that if you add reverb after it, and shimmer. But there are a lot of burps and farts, and hey man, it wasn’t me.
How about this plugged into a big sky?
All it is is a filter that cuts out the highs. The Boss RV6 shimmer mode with tone rolled back sounds better IMO. I didn't keep this pedal for long.

How does it sound paired with a distortion or fuzz?
Is it possible to use a similar string esemble function on the big sky aswell?
No, it is what makes the Cloudburst unique. I made the comparison between the two here: ruclips.net/video/z_2rVKei1GY/видео.html
