This is the best demo of this pedal I've seen so far. For me, this pedal covers enough ground that I could easily work it into the mix of genres I explore on guitar. I'll run my bass guitar and my flute through it as well and see what might be possible. I tend to be endlessly curious to begin with and could see myself spending hours exploring via this pedal. They might have to break down my door and force me to eat and sleep. So be it!
Was on the fence with this pedal and then I watched your review. The pedal arrived yesterday. The sounds are beautiful. The pedal works beautifully with my Magnatone Panoramic Stereo amp.
I saw someone else review this already, the entire time I was distracted thinking, I can not wait to see with Bill at Chords of Orion can do with this! If anyone can do this thing justice it is him!
An easy to dial, plug and play straight out the box reverb, beautiful useable sound. Well done Strymon. I bought a Blackhole, sent it back. This is a simple treat. Oh and a gentle great reveiw as well, but we've come to expect that as standard on this channel.
Thanks for posting, I was “sorta” 1% considering the black hole but now I’m 100% going Strymon! Don’t know WTF I was thinking, I have a “timeline” and love it! ✌️
Just got my cloudburst and mini switch yesterday.. :)17 year old sun plays keys /trumpet loves King Crimson is now finally wanting to play guitar he said that this effect unit is a game changer /I would have to agree :) love it cant wait to use it in sunday mornings worship Thank you Strymon Thank you Sweetwater Thank You Jesus
The first 20 seconds and I get "An Index of Metals" vibe. Wonderful little blue box Bill. Jumped high up on a list of pedals. Now I need to listen to "Evening Star"
Oh, i thought Strymon had done with the little format pedals. So this comes to me as a complete surprise and a kind of shock. The cloudburst seems to contradict as well as compliment my trusted Blue Sky. Sometime, in some future, the Blue Sky will meet a Cloudburst, living together in my effect chain and creating magic. Very professional, informative, and seductive demo Bill, thank you!
I like that you can mellow out the Ensemble tone with the Tone knob. Also, the way the Ensemble feature works is rather interesting. According to Strymon, the input signal is analyzed in 48 separate frequency bands, and each of those bands is independently responsible for generating a harmonic partial in the Ensemble tone. So, not only will the effect respond to your attack and dynamics, but it will respond to differences in your tone/harmonic content too. I'm interested to try this for bass.
This is the fourth or fifth video I've watched on this pedal but you're the only one that really showcased what it can truly do. Thanks, I'm probably buying it soon...😛
Don't forget to adjust the TONE knob when using the two different Ensemble settings... totally changes the sounds from strings-like to horns-like.... Super fun.
I was so happy to see your video pop up on this! I just got mine yesterday- It's pretty awesome! Couple of things - I wouldn't have it be my only reverb in a chain since its specialized - have it along with something more basic. If you have an HX stomp or something like it, I HIGHLY recommend placing it in the FX loop. This way you can add modulations before or after the Cloudburst. For instance, A phaser/filter sound with a slow rate sounds other worldly! I would also recommend playing around with its position in your chain of effects. It's really a reverb/synth hybrid. imagine a Boss slicer chopping those long decay times. It's really an inspiring pedal to have and I think its the most interesting pedal Ive gotten in a long time.
Great demo Sir. This is the first I've seen of your channel, count me as a new subscriber. Love the pedal, it seems like it could be very inspiring. I'll most likely purchase one within the next couple days, sooner if I watch your demo a second time! Thank You
i love your emphasis over the entire demo, i have watched many demo's on this pedal, so far, your video has 'caught me into being the most relaxed, and important straightforward interaction on this pedal, you have earned a subscription. i look forward to viewing many more of your posts!. imagine what dave gilmour could do with this!. thank you for your post, very enjoyable and imformative!.
i have one and i love it playing its with 72 blonde tele into a 1963 Fender Princeton also using tc flashback Ernie Ball Vol pedal mxr dyna comp this pedal wakes everything up its like painting with sound.
How is it for a less affected kinda classic reverb sound? It'd be nice to hear some of the decay, pre-delay, tone and mix settings that are somewhere between zero and half way. I like simplicity and if one unit could do that and then go full ambient on certain things like you DID demonstrate it could be ideal for me. I could get the 3 or 4 sounds I would actually use out of a Big Sky in a much smaller simpler footprint.
Wow, it does have tricks. Even more with MIDI I'd imagine. I could even modulate the "ensemble" switch off and on or any of the knobs with the Morningstar controller. Great video Bill dude.
I subsribed because you got right into it and told me what it was and gave an example in the first 10 seconds. I have such a short attention span these days that when I see people talking a bunch before getting to it I just move on.
LOVELY! Another real gem from Strymon. This one is REALLY right up our alley. The ensemble effect is the real magic here, I think. Long reverbs can be had elsewhere, but bring these all together and I think this is going to be a really useful little box.
Apparently, the way the Mod knob works is that up to 12 o'clock, the depth increases, and then past 12 o'clock, the depth stays high while the rate increases.
Nice pedal. I was looking forward to your demo of it. Danish Pete at Andertons did a Jeff Beck inspired demo of it, combined with a few other pedals, that is truly epic!
Best demo I've heard for this so far. You really let us hear what's going on with the ensemble feature. Also, it's good see you getting back to making lots of vids again. I trust the new basement is treating you well.
Thanks Rachel! Yes - the updated studio is working very well, and I am shooting for 2 videos per week as often as I can. I am however, finishing up my next album, and it's possible that may have a slight impact on video making. But we'll see!
I nearly bought the Fender Reflecting Pool until I heard this today on Adertons Music in the UK - except for the Nuenaber Immerse this is unmatched for sweet ambient as far as I can rememeber hearing. I think I need one!
Definitely getting a Vangelis vibe at the end there! Would be interesting to hear what effect the Tone setting has when using it as a 'guitar synth'. Excellent demo and playing - love the ambient stuff. Love the pedal - I haven't bought a guitar pedal in the last 20 years but I might just have to buy this one. (if there's any left!)
My favourite reverb is the Nightsky but I had to let it go to pay some bills plus I had some pedalboard space issues :) I recently got the cloudburst and it’s perfect for someone who wants a small size pedal with the Strymon reverb sound! I’m more than happy with what it offers.
Sounds fantastic - great demo! You need a second one to put after the delay to add a little bit of the cloud reverb on top of all those delicious delay repeats. 🤣
Loved what you did with the mix knob all the way wet! I actually had a similar idea only kind of the opposite. I think it would be cool to set the pre-delay all the way to a minimum, have your reverb tail pretty lengthy, mix up all the way wet, and then either of the two ensemble settings. low or high intensity. That would make for some beautiful ethereal swells and Long pad/string tones. I’m sure the settings would still be breathtaking even with the ensemble Mode switched to off, but that would probably be more similar to something you could get with the big sky already. That would also (I think,) very much enhance the subtleties of the modulation knob. Thank you so much for this demonstration! It honestly seems a little counterintuitive to purchase after living with a big sky for several years, but it certainly has a character all of its own so who knows, I still might take the plunge. I feel like they would work great in tandem with one another as well. you do some of the best pedal demonstrations on RUclips. thank you.
T-Riffick demo! I ordered my Cloudburst from Strymon direct and in less than 30 minutes received a tracking # as it just left their facility! So excited to get it in two more days! I think I can score my entire next film with this lil bugger!
Yeah… I’ve seen a couple ambient demos for this pedal the last day or two. I’m definitely going to try one. I think I’ll get a lot of use out of the ensemble and the longer reverb times. The infinite function is interesting to me, but I haven’t seen it used in any demos yet. I don’t like the requirement for an external switch to use the function, but it’s not the end of the world. If it makes it on to my pedal board, it’ll probably replace my Meris Mercury 7… but I still need to get my hands on one of these.
I just bought a boss SY-1 to add to my big sky and accomplish the main trick of the cloud burst plus I get some extra tricks. Cloudburst is a great pedal though. Mainly did it this way to save money.
Such a simple pedal and your breakdown and demo is so thorough. Love it. Not sure this would make it on my board and replace my BigSky but a cool little pedal none the less
This is a beautiful sounding pedal. I'm still figuring out the Volante and Nightsky and the biggest reason I've been dragging my feet on that is because I didn't know about the EHX tri parallel mixer.
That synth but sounded so cool. Could you do a video running one of the ehx string/synth pedals threw the cloudburst? Curious to hear how it handles a more complex sound.
Great demo Bill - love the sounds and the form factor. I hope Strymon produce more pedals in this more compact size. I have a Big Sky and a Blue Sky, plus a host of other reverb pedals, so I can't justify buying a Cloudburst. I bet it sells well, though. Another winner from Strymon.
Hey Tim I'm really considering a Blue Sky V2 but I already have a Big Sky on my board. In your opinion do you think it's worth getting one to pair it up with my Big Sky?
Bill - thank you for this demo. It was great. I have been experimenting with reverb recently and would appreciate to hear your opinion on the tradeoffs between using Cloudburst vs. GFI Skylar or even the Neunaber Illumine. Thanks so much!
I dumped the reverb on my Princeton for this little guy and it's great. The other sounds are cool and I may use it sometimes but the reverb is excellent.
Bill…I appreciate your contribution to my musical growth more than I can express
Legend has it that the chord at 3:00 is still going.
It's a year on now, and some say it's beginning to fade.
You are truly the Bob Ross of the audio world... any "happy clouds" for us?
Turn the lights off, sit back and relax 🧘♂️
Are you new to the channel? The Bob Ross comments have been going on for 10 years. The joke is stale.
@@ramencurry6672 Oh thanks mate for your words of encouragement. Such positive vibes for a Saturday morning.
Sounds to me like that pedal is jam packed with happy clouds. 😁
This is the best demo of the new Cloudburst that I have seen so far.
Just came across Bill and Chords of Orion... what a joy!!! Bill is like the Bob Ross of guitar sounds!! :-) Thank you Bill!!
Was on the fence with this pedal and then I watched your review. The pedal arrived yesterday. The sounds are beautiful. The pedal works beautifully with my Magnatone Panoramic Stereo amp.
Magnatone stereo.....lucky you! indeed Cloudburst is a great pedal
I'm going to get one for my own stereo guitar rig. Does it create its own stereo width in the mono-> stereo mode?
Do you still use this pedal?
I saw someone else review this already, the entire time I was distracted thinking, I can not wait to see with Bill at Chords of Orion can do with this! If anyone can do this thing justice it is him!
Got 3/4 thru your demo, paused it, got on Sweetwater and bought one, finished your demo, subscribed... Good Job!!
Do u still use this pedal?
An easy to dial, plug and play straight out the box reverb, beautiful useable sound. Well done Strymon. I bought a Blackhole, sent it back. This is a simple treat. Oh and a gentle great reveiw as well, but we've come to expect that as standard on this channel.

Great playing Bill! Always a pleasure my dude
Just got my cloudburst and mini switch yesterday.. :)17 year old sun plays keys /trumpet loves King Crimson is now finally wanting to play guitar
he said that this effect unit is a game changer /I would have to agree :) love it cant wait to use it in sunday mornings worship Thank you Strymon
Thank you Sweetwater Thank You Jesus
What about me? You didn't thank me...
I've been waiting for your take on this pedal since I saw the other Cloudburst videos this morning. 👌
The first 20 seconds and I get
"An Index of Metals" vibe.
Wonderful little blue box Bill.
Jumped high up on a list of pedals.
Now I need to listen to "Evening Star"
Killer tone Bill, even before the reverb... love it and the strat!
Yeah, I could listen to that tone all day! It would be close to perfect for my needs. I have tone envy …again
Wow. First Strymon pedal in a long time I'm considering saving up for! Wonderful sounds and playing as usual, Mr Chords 😊
What a great guitar tone. And that is one of the best pedals I’ve heard in awhile. 😊
Eric Johnson has entered the chat...
I love ambient pedals. I will always come to your channel first. This seems like a great little pedal. Thanks Bill!
This sounds so grainy and low quality though... probably strymon using up their jfet stock in all their pedals... not good
First, you done great, this is the best cloudburst video on RUclips. The pedal is very interesting for me. Thank you and regards from Germany
I like that you can mellow out the Ensemble tone with the Tone knob.

Mine is on order already! Expected the end of the month. I rarely lose my head over a pedal but I cannot wait! This thing is magical… Thanks Bill

I was looking forward to your inevitable review of this pedal, and as usual you did not disappoint!
The Ensemble modes at 100% mix sound incredible.
Great demo, I’m waiting to get this soon, the sounds are amazing. Love the delayed sound when you hit something then the ambient comes in.
Right now I’m hearing “The Clouds of Orion “ and it’s amazing
Killer! The Ensemble makes it what it is... Super Special. I need one, now!
Great demo Sir.
This is the first I've seen of your channel, count me as a new subscriber.
Love the pedal, it seems like it could be very inspiring.
I'll most likely purchase one within the next couple days, sooner if I watch your demo a second time!
Thank You
Outstanding- I waited for your assessment and as always you delivered!!
got this pedal a couple of weeks ago from Sweetwater Sound. Still exploring the possibilities. Thanks for the inspiration :)
Do you still use this pedal?
yes, it isn't an "on all the time" pedal, but more of a tone sculpting tool. :)@@zenn3339
Strymon make some truly phenomenal pedals...and now both Deco and BigSky are plugins too ! I adore the Cloudburst !!
Thanks, Bill! I was anticipating you demoing this one!
Great presentation, very helpful, and never a stuffy word salad! Thank you....
Loving mine for sure....very happy I bought it
I putting this on my pedal board as soon as I can get one. This pedal is awesome. Thanks for the demo
Great review and explanation of how this pedal works!
i love your emphasis over the entire demo, i have watched many demo's on this pedal, so far, your video has 'caught me into being the most relaxed, and important straightforward interaction on this pedal, you have earned a subscription. i look forward to viewing many more of your posts!. imagine what dave gilmour could do with this!. thank you for your post, very enjoyable and imformative!.

Just picked one of these up. My first Strymon product. Very inspiring pedal, loving it

Best review I’ve seen so far on this unit
I think the development meeting for this was just answers to the question of "what would really float Bill's boat in a new pedal from us?"
Wow, it does have tricks. Even more with MIDI I'd imagine. I could even modulate the "ensemble" switch off and on or any of the knobs with the Morningstar controller. Great video Bill dude.
Very nice, informative review! Thanks for this! Want one of these amazing sounding pedals.
Thanks Bill. The pre-delay control really adds depth to the reverb.
I subsribed because you got right into it and told me what it was and gave an example in the first 10 seconds. I have such a short attention span these days that when I see people talking a bunch before getting to it I just move on.
Good overview of the functions, thanks! Really enjoyed the last segment with the synth-like function and delay setup.. pretty darn cool 👍🏼
That tone actually reminds me of the synthesizer setting on the old GT3 by boss
Ensemble and freeze function was instant buy for me!
Beautiful, I'd expect nothing less from Strymon.
So cool the way you present this...really really Great
Basically, I would like one very much 😊
The best video on YT for this pedal.
Love this Bill! Thank you for this review!
LOVELY! Another real gem from Strymon. This one is REALLY right up our alley.

Fascinating! I’m not sure what to think. Awesome demo, Bill! ✌️😌🎸
Apparently, the way the Mod knob works is that up to 12 o'clock, the depth increases, and then past 12 o'clock, the depth stays high while the rate increases.
You always make wonderful reviews of great pedals.
Thank you!
You are the best! You truly inspire
Amazingly good!
Awesome pedal and equally awesome demonstration 👍🙏
Nice pedal. I was looking forward to your demo of it. Danish Pete at Andertons did a Jeff Beck inspired demo of it, combined with a few other pedals, that is truly epic!
Yeah, he did a good job of showing how epic it can sound, kind of Hans Zimmer guitar soundscape.
Best demo I've heard for this so far. You really let us hear what's going on with the ensemble feature. Also, it's good see you getting back to making lots of vids again. I trust the new basement is treating you well.

Sounds amazing. I want one.

I've been using plugins for my main reverb needs for a long while but this does seem to be worth checking out! Thanks Bill.
11:28 You read my mind. 😀 Perhaps Strymon will develop this ensemble algorithm into a polyphonic pitch shifter or synth pedal? 🤔
Well done
Really amazing sounds 14:03 ✨🙏
This is a beautiful sounding pedal. I'm still figuring out the Volante and Nightsky and the biggest reason I've been dragging my feet on that is because I didn't know about the EHX tri parallel mixer.

Suweeet pedal! WOW might have to break my embargo on buying pedals
Bill, at the end, you sounded like soundtrack to Blade Runner. Good stuff!
I love this pedal!!!!!
Great demo Bill. cheers 😎
Thanks. I like your style and you brought me in some way to abiance guitar.
Bill - thank you for this demo. It was great. I have been experimenting with reverb recently and would appreciate to hear your opinion on the tradeoffs between using Cloudburst vs. GFI Skylar or even the Neunaber Illumine. Thanks so much!
Great pedal, great demo. I just want two things: this pedal and the ability to play like Bill.
Amazing - just got one on pre-order!!
I love your work. :)
I dumped the reverb on my Princeton for this little guy and it's great. The other sounds are cool and I may use it sometimes but the reverb is excellent.
