As a seasoned crocheter, I just have to tell you this is the BEST i've ever seen regarding the "chainless foundation"... i have resisted it because everything i've seen does not make it clear where to insert the hook for the next stitch... ... Teaching is an art and you are a beautiful and patient ARTIST! Thank you! Hugs, GB
Agreed! I've been crocheting for more than 20 years and could never get a foundation row to work properly. I finally did it thanks to this great tutorial, and it's SO much nicer to work with for bigger projects like this
I can't tell you how helpful it is for you to show the detail of the first and last stitch of the row more than once...When I make mistakes crocheting 95% of the time it is at the beginning or end of the row!
I know this is late but I'm sorry to hear about your friend Tammy. However I am a 4x cancer survivor. I had major surgery March 2020 and since then I am in remission. I thank God. I am working on the Tammy cancer sweater I've already finished the body ,working on the arms now. It's a beautiful sweater. Thank you so much for your time and skills with this tutorial.
Thank you for this tutorial Christa! I am a 2 time breast cancer survivor and have been clean for over 20 years. I cannot make the sweater right now but intend to make it as soon as I am finished making a number of Christmas blankets. (I already have the yarn.) 😄
You are the best teacher in crochet, thank you so much to share incredible technique of crochet.I am starting my today and so excited to see my project done... thank You again.
You really are, one of the best teachers ever! You make it so simple to follow. I never get frustrated or rage quit a project because of your teaching methods and easy to follow graphs. Thank you for that!
I made this Cardigan in blue and green. The next one will be in pink and I am I two-time breast cancer survivor. The first time in 1994 and the second and last was in Sept of this year. Love the video, well done!
Came across this video by accident for the first time in 2024 would you believe it?! I'm an addicted left handed crocheter for 55years but can follow any pattern by now. I've crocheted various cardigans, ponchos, shawls, and also jackets for my grandchildren. Although i can make clothes off the top of my head, the coloursand style of this gorgeous project caught my eye. Tthis has gotta be the best tutorial I've seen. Your detailed explanations, clear video angle etc. Just wanted to say thank you and I'm heading to the yarn store in the morning.
I started watching your video tutorials just over a year ago to learn how to crochet. You are the BEST teacher! I am a breast cancer survivor, in remission 3 years now :) I can't wait to get yarn for this sweater! Thanks for being here~~~
Thank you so much. I had forgotten about chainless foundation. I’m a 10 year cancer survivor. Colon cancer. Now have ileostomy. Love to crochet. I’m going to make this for my daughter.
I just found this pattern mentioned on another channel in pinks for breast cancer. So glad I found it. Never made something for myself but I like this except for the big sleeves. My just try it in a smaller size but would like longer. I guess making one by directions then changing if I need to on the second one. Hugs and much thanks 😊 🤗
Hi Christa 🌷I was browsing and ran across this tutorial. Am so glad I did because look what I found......this beautiful, easy sweater tutorial 👍 I have never made a sweater before....too chicken 🐔 but will give this a go. As always thank you and see you on the flip side 💕
Wow I've got to agree with all the comments below you are truly the best and clearest teachers I have ever watched. The sleeve and under arm was ABSOLUTELY beautiful. Thanks so much.
I made this sweater for my granddaughter she loves it. It was the first real piece of real clothing I have ever attempted. It came out so well I'm excited about crochet again thank you so much
Tammy when your good your good. You are the best teacher ever and your creative crochet is just what I call pure art. You are fantastic you truly really are. I love you in all you do. And thank you. A true blessing ❤
I love, love, love this sweater. I made one for myself for the first time I actually made myself something and I'm so happy. This sweater is so beautiful. Thank you for teaching and sharing your talent. And Yes, I'm a breast cancer surviver. God Bless and stay safe. Thank you.
Ice yarn has a line called Fantasia, a 4 wt yarn in a rose pink and red color way. It was $7.99 a 4 pk. You would need 3 packs to make this sweater. I am substituting this for the Ambient. Thanks for sharing this tutorial with us!
I've finished my Tammy sweater and I love it. Don't know how to post picture. Thank you very much Christa, you are a wonderful teacher and I love the way you tell us how to do this sweater
I'm a Breast cancer survivor and I think I have to make myself one of these beautiful sweaters! I love how it looks! Thanks so much h for sharing this pattern, I love that there aren't any really visible joins or increses. Its beautiful 😊
Thank you so very much! I’ve crocheted off an on for 25 years. I’ve always considered myself a beginner until now. No other teachers really show HOW to use a stitch marker! They tell you you can use them if you want/need to, but I guess it’s just too much trouble to show? I don’t know, but I’m convinced I can do any project you teach. Thank you so much for saying when and how we can “cheat” if need be. I can’t say how much I appreciate your work!
I've watched alot of your podcasts but this is my first time watching one of your tutorials. I came looking specifically for this one from your recent stack in the back review. Your tutorials are excellent. So clear and easy to follow. 😊
Very clear instructions!! I have made many scarves and shawls, and have been thinking about taking the next step and making a cardigan. I think this is the one!!
@@SecretYarnery I have a question. I hope it makes sense. I was trying to use the foundation sc to eliminate having to go back over the chain row for a pattern, but when I do. It puts the right side of the project in conflict with the pattern. Can I use the sc foundation if it is not in the pattern?
I've been crocheting off and on since I was a teenager (I'm 63) but just recently started trying to make garments! Anyway, I've always avoided the chainless foundation as I couldn't understand the instructions. Your explanation of how to do it is the best I've ever come across! I think I can do it now! I will be making this cardi now! Thank you so very much!!!
It’s a beautiful sweater and knowing it was made for breast cancer is a blessing. I’m battling terminal breast cancer so THANK YOU for your thoughtfulness.
I love this! I didn't even watch the video before getting all my supplies. I worked along with the video leaving everything a mystery and I love the end result. I used rose petal pink for my whole project. Thank you for an easy and amazing beginner friendly video.
Love this! You answered every question I had as a crocheter, every step of the way! You have taught me so much and you did it so very well! Ty and I hope to show you my beautiful sweater very soon!!!
I can't tell you how excited I am to try this. I cant wait to try it! xx
You are an amazing tutor. I’ve been crocheting for years, but I wish you had been around when I first started. You explain everything so well, and easy to follow.
I’m loving the way this sweater is made so nicely and easily. Thank you for the pattern. My step mom just finished a long bout with double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. Her treatments finished a couple months ago and so far so good! She’s asked me to make her a cardigan and of course she wants breast cancer pink colors!! And it so happens my name is Tammie...with an ie. But seems absolutely perfect!! Thanks for sharing!!🧶
I just finished my cardigan, with a couple corrections & do overs (apparently I can’t count😂) & am quite happy with the results! Took me just over a week to finish, the only thing I changed was I made the armholes smaller to make a narrower sleeve. Thankyou for your time in creating such a clear & very well explained process for us visual learners ❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely love this. Been waiting on it. I’m going to make one in honour of a family friend who lost her fight to breast cancer not many days ago. It was her funeral yesterday. It’s such a shame, as she fought with all her might too, but finally lost her battle. 😔

I’m sorry but I can not say this was easy at all. I’ve been crocheting for awhile and have attempted some garments never.really completing just because I get bored so quickly. I watched several times and where you lost me each time was the measurement divided by4. Then you folded I became totally confused. One thing I did learn better than I have ever before was the chain foundation guess you are a better teacher on that because it was easy to do. I’ll put down and come back later. maybe then it’ll be easier to grasp. Sometimes that helps so much. I love it and think it’s really nice for us that want to hide the weight gain on our arms. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for a great tutorial, Christa! Love 💕 that this cardigan pattern is so easy to crochet according to my length using the yarn I have. I'm half finished one using Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable - a single ply variable colour medium weight #4 with a 6mm hook. And I'm starting another in Ice Yarn Mohair Pastel in teal, greens and purple - a 2ply #2 weight mohair/wool/acrylic yarn with halo also using a 6mm hook. This pattern shows off gorgeous yarns with long colour changes. Although I love making shawls and afghans this gives me confidence to finish a garment as a gift. Can't wait to show them off.🥳🤗💖

Hi Christa. I've just found this tutorial for this beautiful sweater. What a lovely sweater. I've been crocheting for 60plus years and have never made anything but blankets! I'm just wondering if I would be able to manage this as it looks so lovely and comfortable to wear! I've saved it anyway. Thank you so much.
It's super easy, Sue Barton! 👍 Go for it!! 🌺🌼🌸
