I really love the pesto idea, I cannot wait to make this. Still missing seeing you and Bridget kidding each other, but Julia you are so engaging. I’m a huge fan.
@@MikehMike01 too bad you didn't try it. Or get the concept that this was a SIMPLE and EASY recipe. And like it or not, the meatballs were actually tasty. And my husband is a meatball purist.
I've made this recipe 4 times since this video was posted. It's definitely become a family favorite. Sometimes I've baked the meatballs instead of frying them just to make things even simpler. (375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes until their internal temperature reads above 160).
Another recipe to love from you Julia, my husband tends to fix jar sauce which to me none match my taste so I searched for a homemade recipe & hit on yours & it is delicious & easy to follow, thanks again!!
I tried this recipe and it’s now my new favorite! Delicious! The pesto made all the difference in making the turkey moist and flavorful. Well done Julia!
Julia, I love the realism and the inclusion of small family details. I've loved watching you for years, and this only adds to the shine! Keep up the inspirational cooking. I have learned so much from you, Bridget and the whole ATK staff.
JULIA. THESE MEATBALLS. OMG. I made a batch of these (using ground turkey) last night and reheated them for dinner. My mom and I both agreed they're among the best meatballs we've ever had. She was shocked when I told her they weren't beef because the taste AND texture were so good. Honestly, I don't see a reason to use any other meatball recipe again. These are just PERFECT as written and were 100 percent done in like 40 minutes. One thing I want to note: Classico brand jarred pesto, in the pasta aisle, is nut-free. That's what I used because I'm allergic to nuts. I don't think the meatballs suffered at all from using the stuff on the shelf. Still had plenty of oil in them, too.
Just made these tonight for dinner...absolutely awesome! The pesto kept the meatballs super flavorful and moist. And not too many ingredients which is great!
Julia ur the best! I’ve made yours since that one particular show so very long ago…Married to IT Master of Pasta, so quick & easy…has his approval. Thank you Madam!
Made this today with my 5 year old grandson, Hayes.. We both loved them! Thanks so much. We used 2 lbs of ground turkey an a little bit more of the Panko crumbs. We watched your video as we cooked. Hayes combined everything with his hands and formed them. He also helped with the sauce, processing the tomatoes and adding the meatballs.
I absolutely just love you and the staff of ATK/CC I cook your recipes all the time. Love’em love the kitchen hacks and ratting products and tasting things for what makes you happy!!! Thank you for the job well done
I loved this episode! Julia seems to be at her absolute most natural. This looks like an almost impossibly easy way to make spaghetti and meatballs. Will definitely have to try
I made meatballs for the first time because of this recipe and they were…A-MA-Zing! I would have made the sauce but I confess that while in the store getting the breadcrumbs (the only item I didn’t already have) I remembered Homemade Rao’s Marinara & used that. The combo was perfect! Truly the easiest & best tasting recipe that will become a staple.
Hi Julia, I love homemade spaghetti and I too use ground turkey but never thought of using store bought pesto; your recipe sounds absolutely delicious and I will try it. Thanks. ☺️
I shared with both my daughter's especially since 1 of the husbands is a spaghetti Disser. I really think he'll enjoy this 1🤞 Love your sense of humor as well.
Omg I love this “regular folk” attitude. This makes it so approachable and relatable and reminds of the usual rush I have on the weekends to cook. Great job, Julia! Oh, and the recipe is the keeper.
I am a big fan of homemade meatballs. I use 2 lbs ground beef, 90%, 1 lb pork and 1 lb turkey. I scoop onto a sheet pan and bake at 375-400 for 30-40 min, on the bottom half of the oven, until brown. I remove 3/4 to cool and bag for the freezer - no Costo meatballs for me. Then I drain the oil and scrape drippings in the skillet for the sauce. Added bonus of Quick meals in the freezer.
"Maybe they'll stay round this time, hehe, no they won't". "Maybe I should start calling them meat poofs". (Hums "Tarantella Napoletana"). "Ian! Just kidding". "Don't ask me why it's 10 seconds". Stream-of-consciousness Julia is the best Julia.
My family fell in love with angel hair pasta (Barilla) almost 20 years ago. 😋 I always use a meat sauce, instead of meatballs..... I'll have to prepare this meatball dish of yours to check it out, & finally change it up some. Have a great week. 👍
Thank you Julia! Great recipe. I can smell it through my computer! I'm going to buy the pesto and ground turkey tomorrow. You and your team are the best~
Loved it. Motivated me to buy ground chicken and prepare this dish. Love easy nutritious meals, without fancy complicated ingredients, using what we normally maintain in our pantry. Thanks.
Made this today. Yes: flavorful meatballs! Thank you, Julia! My go to is the Cook's Country from about 15 years ago, but the pesto is genius and the simplicity of this recipe is irresistible.
these are just perfect. I'd recommend playing around with how much pesto oil you use for the sauce--it may be more basil than you want, depending. I REALLY appreciate all the ways ATK and Julia use their videos to teach technique, such as using nonstick when you want the browning on the food (and you don't need fond for a sauce or soup) or tips like putting a measuring cup in the strainer. I also really appreciate when they mention alternatives (meat, other ingredients in this video). This is a great, great recipe. Thank you!
I have made this about 10 times now. It is my fiancés favorite meal and honestly has converted me to liking meatballs. Just made a double batch for lunch prep for his work week.
I really like your method I literally like you a lot and I just went out and got all the ingredients to make these meatballs cuz I've always wanted to make a really good meatball recipe, so I can't wait to try this and thank you very much.
Food looks so good. Julia explain everything so well plus she’s very entertaining. Love the OXO skillet. I wash it by hand, as per their website, and it looks like new after almost a year of using it.
Last time I made meatballs, it was fresh ground beef only and I kept them small. Didn't even use salt and pepper. Best I ever made. Pesto sounds great. Gotta try it. Thanks, Julia.
Julia! I just can't with you! You are literally one of my favorite people to watch on TV, and RUclips. I'm a Rochester girl too, I must be vibing 😁 Please do more of these "at home" videos. Best ever!
This looks delicious. Then again, everything from Julia is amazing! Love these guys. This is easy enough for a weeknight but the family style platter would be great for guests too!
I love watching you Julia no matter what show I see you on. What a genius idea to use pesto, I will definitely try this, my daughter loves pesto. I love your personality, you and I can hang out together and have so much fun in the kitchen. I can’t wait to make this dish!
Nice recipe variation. As a pro chef, I usually save most of the pasta water to make a minestrone or other soup. I have found too that adding one egg white to each pound of meat results in a really moist texture. Also works for meatloaf and burger patties. Cheers chef.
I've been wanting to make spaghetti and meatballs for a while and today's the day I'm going to do it. What's held me up has been how to make the meatballs taste different than the usual way (one son is used to the way his GM used to make them). I think the pesto is the solution I've been looking for. Can't wait to make this. Thank you Julia!!!!
I never salt my pasta water . Julia talking about not being skinny .Please would we trust her if she was skinny. lol lol I love watching her cook. Thank Julia for another awesome video .
This is great! Panko! Store-bought guacamole! Canned 'maters! "Just a little too much oil, Whoop!" Such a cheat on ATK! I love this sincerely. My type of old bachelor cooking. Big thanks! Smiles...
My DH is having chemo and sometimes it affects his sense of taste so stuff tastes "weird." But stronger flavors taste better so he is asking for spaghetti and meatballs - something he NEVER does! This recipe is wonderful! Also, Julia, please please please turn that skillet handle to the side so you don't run the risk of knocking it off the stove!
This vid made me like you even more( which was a tall order to fill) just in your element.Perfect natural flow ,and the recipe is a GENIUS level time saver for what logically seems like it will be a FANTASTIC meatball. Love you and Bridget immensely for your casual creative and delicious working recipes.
I've been a fan of Julia since the early days of ATK. I just love seeing her at home preparing for her family just like me.
Julia is a god. Love her
I really love the pesto idea, I cannot wait to make this. Still missing seeing you and Bridget kidding each other, but Julia you are so engaging. I’m a huge fan.
But Julia didn't leave ATK, did she? Not sure what you meant.
Watch on tv all the time - like this way!
@@lauraarldt8139 I think she meant since they’re all filming at home (it seems) separately due to quarantine.
pesto is a garbage idea… recipe was over for me at that moment, no point in making it… not cooking with storebought crap

Julia, loves to cook and eat and I am not trying to be mean, I am a big fan of hers and Brigette
