Perfect timing. I have been thinking of getting a microwave flower press for some time. Have now left a subtle hint to my son should he want to get me anything for my upcoming birthday. Just found your channel so I’m enjoying catching up with past videos. Keep up the good work. X
I've got the child version, different brand. It worked great. Then I got a new microwave, same spec, more efficient, and it burned a hole thru the cotton. It too is square with tiny holes. This one is obviously better, the larger holes will make the difference. Thank you fot sharing this, it's very helpful! Mx

Thanks Evelyn. Glad to say the temperatures have dropped back down to normal. Such a relief as we are just not set up for such extremes. Have a wonderful weekend💕
Thank you SO MUCH for such a detailed, informative vid! I ordered one straight away. Got the 6” from Amazon: only $19.99 USD. Can’t wait to start pressing & nuking! 👍🏼
If I had the Microfluer I would buy or borrow a drill attachment for drilling holes (they come in various sizes) and drill larger holes in the plastic. Even a drill bit could be used to enlarge the holes with a little sanding to smooth the edges.
Thank you ! This is video is so welcome to me! I was pressing my flowers the other day and wondering if anyone was going to do a video on flower pressing! Now I want to see if anyone will be incorporating dried flowers in an cards or journals! ❤️
Hi Judy, I have published several videos in the past showing how to use dried flowers and you will find the link to the playlist in the video description box. Here is a link to a nature journal I made which I hope might also give you some ideas as it’s my most popular dried flower video: ruclips.net/video/UL3jRm8yskI/видео.html 💕🌸🌺
This is a very informative video, Nina. You appear to have given both presses a fair go and then you shared the results along with your experiences of using them. I sometimes microwave flowers and do it between two regular plain white everyday dinner plates with greaseproof paper padded with kitchen towel (to absorb the moisture) above and below. I've found that that works well too. Many thanks.
Thanks Nina. I did order and use the aboofx wooden press and it seems to work just great. This one gives more immediate results which is really nice for impatient people like me.
I had rigged my own system. Things were going ok but then there was some small flamage and I was turned off from that for awhile now. Definitely keep an eye out-while it was working it was great for some but not all flowers. Just my experience! Edit: The smell also became…biological is the only word I can think of. Thank you so much for reviewing this.
The flowers do smell during the drying process I agree. The drying time also varies depending on the type of plant or flower. Think flowers and petals or leaves will dry much quicker than something with a thick stem and stamen. Always dry in short bursts to avoid burning 🌺🌸
Thankyou so much for your review so helpful I am so enjoying my wild flower container to paint press and more the microflower press a bit out of my pocket range. But if I see a secondhand one or family gift me one lol I am well prepared and informed ❤ Thankyou excellent video xxhappy crafting (ps pouring with rain in Cheshire tonight 😅)❤😻
Thanks Penny, glad it was helpful. We still haven’t had anything more than a few spits and spots. Glad to say it’s much cooler now though. Have a fabulous weekend 💕 x
Thank you Nina, what a great video. I found your comparison very interesting. I've never seen daisies that big, they're so pretty. I love your tutorials they're always very inspiring. Have a great weekend (I think the weather is going to be a bit cooler? It always goes downhill when the children break up from school doesn't unfortunately). Take care, Val. xx
Hi Val, the daisy’s are fab aren’t they. Glad to say it is much cooler now, although temperatures are on the rise again this weekend. Thankfully I don’t think it’s going to be as extreme as it was this week, phew! Hope you have a great weekend 🌸🌸🌺💕
Hello nina, like in the UK we felt like the flowers in the microwave the last two days. It was really, really hot. People are so inventive, always looking for new ways to do things. It worked well, anyway one of the presses. Since I have no microwave, I will stick to drying in books. Sometimes I open a book and flowers fall out, very vety dry( ha ha)forgotten flowers...More romantic, but the microwave very effective. Love and hugs lenaxxx
Haha, that happens to me too, as I always used to dry flowers in books and would forget which ones I had dried them in. Lovely memories. Glad to say it’s much cooler today 💕 xxxxx
I ordered the wooden press you reviewed an very happy with it.Microwave looks quick but like the fact on wooden one that I put all my flowers in it an left it for a week an they turned out beautiful. Thanks for both reviews.
Great comparison video Nina, you got stunning results with your flowers. I look forward to seeing more put in your journals. Take care of yourself in the heat and hopefully it will cool off soon.💕
Thanks Debbie. I will definitely be adding some to my journals as I’ve amassed quite a collection in the past few weeks. Hope you have a great weekend 💕🌸🌺🌸
Thanks so much, Nina! Very informative. I think I’ll give it a try. I live in the southern US where summers are HOT and HUMID. Humid does not mean rain, though! We’ve finally had some decent rain and our lawns and gardens are looking happier, at least for now.
Thank you for doing this❣️🇺🇸 I think I will give it a go❣️ I live in North Texas USA and we are in a crippling heatwave ,days of 105 to 111. No rain. Sounds like your part of the world is much the same❤️❤️
Thanks Cathey, I think it’s a great microwave press. Thankfully it has cooled down significantly, although still warm. The ground is exceptionally dry and our grass looks like straw! Have great day 💕🌸🌺🌸
I’ve had the larger microfluer for years and never had a problem with it. It does rotate in my microwave and I use it in short bursts too. I’ll continue to use it but the new one you have does seem like a better option if anyone is shopping for one now. Thanks for all the info!
Thank you so much Nina, I really really enjoyed listening to you and watching you press those flowers. I have the Microfleur press, and I’ve got to agree, one it takes longer and there is the danger of burning the pads etc..I certainly like the look of the Aboo press, and might invest in one. You did a brilliant review of this, no one could have been more honest than you are. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Wow Miss Nina Thanks for this video! I had NO CONFIDENCE that you were going to get smashing dried flowers from a microwave and you showed exactly how to get STUNNING results from the Aboofx microwave flower press! Take the Microfluer one and use the outer side of the two plastic sides for a mark maker on your gel press! ❤️
Hello I loved this video. I've got a bridesmaid bouquet and I want to press and frame some of the flowers so I have one of these on the way as we speak thanks to your video. Can't wait to do them. Can I ask for the link of them stickers you got please I love them!!
Thanks for this. Lovely flowers. Your white ones aren’t cow parsley, they are yarrow, achillea milleflora. Very powerful medicine. If it’s in your garden, you must treasure it. 😊
Thank you so very much for this very specific and informative review! It has helped me immensely. I appreciate you showing a demonstration of how beautifully you used the flowers as well. May I ask if the flowers discolor over time at all? Especially if you notice white flowers? I wasn’t sure if over time they would turn brown. If someone has asked this same question already and it’s been answered, forgive me for not seeing it yet. Thank you in advice for the reply.🙏🏻🙂
Flowers do have a tendency to fade over time, but I find when you cover them with tissue paper using watered down glue, it helps a lot. You can also use alcohol markers to colour faded pressed flowers and bring them back to life. Hope this helps 🌸
I absolutely love my Microfleur and have had no problems with it at all. You do want to use short bursts as well. I think it may need to rotate and just didn't fit in your microwave well. The Microfleur would fit more flowers at a time as it has more room than the aboofx. I do find it interesting that parts of the aboofx manual is word for word with the Microfleur, for example, the priming instructions.
Hello Nina, what a treat to find your channel, I love it. I have a question about the rest times between the microwave bursts. Do you take the press out of the microwave and open it, or just let it sit on the counter, and for how long do you let it rest before the next burst?
Hello Donna. Yes, I do. I take the press out for the first couple of bursts just for a couple of seconds and then open it thereafter to check its progress and let the air get to it to avoid it singing. You need to follow the instructions provided carefully to avoid burning your the pads.
@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia Hello Nina, thank you for the input. Thank you for the excellent reviews. Before I read your reviews, I had mail order 2 of the Microfleur 9 inch devices. Lo and behold, they did not rotate in my small microwave, so I was able to return them before using and got a full refund. Thank you! I dry a few flowers or greenery every morning before work, enjoying it so much. It’s like pulling a ceramic piece out of a kiln, minus the days or weeks of waiting for the transformation.
I’ve got some in an old biscuit tin and and keep others between sheets of paper in a clear wallet. I need to do more projects, I’ve dried a lot of flowers and leaves this year 💕
The since the deli paper video, I have also discovered that a single layer from a napkin works as well and I much prefer it. I thinks I used these ones in junk journals and left them as they were with just a layer of watered down glue to seal them. Hope that helps 💕
I bought a microwave oven from my local thrift shop for $25 dedicated solely to pressing flowers. I had dried some leaves in my regular kitchen microwave and then warmed tea afterward and my tea was bitter! So I thought I’d get a second hand one that I keep on my work bench in the garage.
It depends on what you do with them after you’ve dried them. They tend to keep the colour they are left with after the drying process if they are kept out of direct sunlight. I tend to use mine in journals and they keep their colour pretty well. For those that fade, I use alcohol markers to enhance the colour. If you are planning n selling your work, I would recommend using a UV spray fixative. I hope this helps.
