Thank you so much Nina, I really really enjoyed watching you open up the flower press, and what a great 👍 job it’s done. I really really love ❤️ all those flowers. Also I really really enjoyed seeing you put them to good use too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I was in the hospital recently, and sometimes the kitchen would add a small orchid (without the stem) to embellish the plate. I really wanted to keep those petals, so each time I put the pedals into a napkin, folded it up then used some tape to hold it together. When I got home 3 weeks later, I took all of the napkins out of my purse and unwrapped them. I ended up with perfectly dried orchid leaves that I can't wait to use. I remember the bottlecap craze from 10+ years ago. I'd go to a local make-it yourself brewery store and buy 1/2 pound of bottlecaps. Since I could never use that many myself, I shared them with other people. I have some beautiful bottlecap jewelry that I traded for at an art retreat.
Hello Blaiz. Sorry to hear you were in hospital. How lovely that the hospital would sometimes decorate your plate with a flower. Do let me know what you end up making with them. Happy Creating 💕
I used to dry flowers years ago and you've inspired me to do it again. My dad made me a flower press back then and must bring it back into action. The finished embellishments were stunning! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Nina, what a lovely tutorial. You are so clever to think of different things to do with beautiful pressed flowers. I've never thought about metal bottle tops to use as cabachons, superb idea. Thank you for showing us. Have a great weekend. Take care, and looking forward to your next video. xx
The flower press worked really well Nina, I really liked the cabochons, the fuchias look pretty and am looking fwd the next lot of pressed flowers . Njoy your lovely warm weather
The new press certainly is a keeper. I love that the colors were so vibrant. I love what you made today, but especially liked the tip for removing the rubber from inside the bottle cap. TFS. 🙏💞💜💐
Oh, also, I found something called Art Tissue at either Blick or Jerry's here in the US and found that it works much better than deli napkins and the flowers show thru nicely and the tissue won't tear. If interested I'll send a link.
Two pieces sandwiched with pressed flowers made cool book marks. Flowers used haven't faded even though the leftover flowers in my box have faded. I used Mod Podge or pva glue don't remember which.
Hello nina, that worked out very well, the flowers dried beautifully. Loved the bottlecap...Always enjoy how carefully you do handle delicate things.. Love and hugs lenaxxx
Wow, this tutorial was awesome those flowers turned out beautiful and all the ideals where great as well. Excited to see what you do with the next flowers. The flower press is better then using heavy books & waiting forever 🤷🏽♀️plus no molding when I’ve done a reveal then saddened only to toss all my hard work in the trash. Need that flower press ASAP! 🤗. Thanks for sharing wow simple amazing 🥳💕
Nina, thank you for a wonderful and comprehensive video on this subject! I think your ideas on using the dried flowers are fantastic and have saved this video to my favorites so I can refer back. You're the best! Janet 💕
WOW! I will have to invest but no one seems to have any. I will keep my eyes open, Nina. What a stunning result. Well done, you. The foliage was so dry so quickly and looked far more natural than in the screw and wing nut press. Lovely creations as a result, too. Thanks for sharing, you're definitely .... genius! x
Such a GRAND outcome on the new flower press! Thank you ever so much for showing how you do this! The examples at the end were STUNNING, Miss Nina.Thank you for the BRILLIANT ideas! ❤️
These are fabulous ideas, Nina. I am like a child finding an unopened birthday present. I have just found a bunch of dried flowers and leaves from those I pressed having watched the video you made some time ago. I have had such fun pressing more flowers and we are now on the look out for the little containers to display the flowers inside. You are just an inspiration!! Could I pick your creative brain by asking if you have any ideas where to store your dried flowers? I put them between tissue paper inside a book but I'm sure your ideas are better. Thanks for sharing, Nina and sorry to have screwed up the Instagram message! New to it and pretty hopeless so far|! x
Thanks Pam. The containers are called coin capsules and come in different sizes, and the domed cabochons are called adhesive cabochons. I store my flowers in a couple of different ways. I have some of the bulkier ones in an old shortbread biscuit tin, but most are stored in a plastic wallet between sheets of copier paper to keep them flat. Hope that helps 💕 xx
Adorable. I was headed out today to gather lowers and foliage for eco dying, now I’ll have to grab some for pressing! There aren’t enough hours in the day!
Wow, the flowers turned out fantastic! And what a great idea to slightly apply some color if necessary. I will definitely look into this. It sure beats my old phone book I currently dry flowers in :-) The finished embellishments were gorgeous! Thank you for sharing!
Woo they dried great. I will have to get one and go around my friends gardens. I have a couple of old in my son attic. But I don't have the room no more. Just have a small border out side my flat. So I will be giving it ago. Love your 💡 . 😊
Hi Dianna. I did mention the supplies I used as I was using them in the video, but apologies if it was not clear. The tissue was a single ply from a white catering napkin. The glues I used were: Windsor & Newton Galleria Matte Medium, Aleen’s Tacky Glue, Anita’s Tacky Glue, Collall Fabric Glue & E6000. I hope that helps ❤️
It's unlikely you could remember every product every video I think I was just catching on and only so I could have missed it or maybe what I was looking for just wasn't in that particular video I don't remember but nonetheless you give us so much information that's amazing I remember trying to find the press board or something that you use something about the stamps and it's twofold and it helps you place the stamp I remember wanting more information on that because I've never seen one before and haven't seen one since but anyway you're just amazing to watch I could listen to you all day!💕
Just ordered my flower press. Can’t wait. I’ve been using books but I forget what pages I put them in so this will be easier. Yours turned out beautiful. Tyfs
Nina, such a successful project, the flowers are lovely! I’ve used pressed flowers including lavenders as “stamps” and printed with inks which made beautiful background pages! Take care, it’s Covid city in our house all four of us have the lurgies🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️
Your flowers came out absolutely lovely Nina, I love all your ideas for using them too! I am excited to see how those beautiful yellow flowers dry in the next batch. Thanks, you reminded me to check my dictionary for the dried flowers I did about a week ago. Mom is still in isolation until Sunday, but seems to be feeling much better. I lucked out and did NOT get Covid from my exposure, so I am off to spend a couple of hours with her. I hope you are enjoying your warm weather, see you Sunday💕
I’m new to all this and have watched a few of your pressed flower videos with different ways, my question is which one do you like the best and which ones retain the color the best. In gratitude ❣️
Hi Shirley. Most flowers will lose some of their colour as they dry out, but you can brighten then using alcohol markers. I use my finished creations in my journals which are closed most of the time and therefore dark. They retain their colour better this way and are also protected within the journal if I have chosen not to seal the flowers. My favourite projects have been the ones where I have covered the flowers with a layer of napkin as I love the texture this gives especially when I have used burlap as a base. I also love the laminated flowers and the wax seals. I hope this helps, but it really is down to personal preference ❤️
I was happy to see your excellent results. The fuchsia pressed beautifully. Everything is flat with vibrant color. Did those sponge sheets make a difference? I was wondering if you think the plastic bag improved the results. My geranium (pelargonium) flowers and leaves are still sitting under a pile of books. I’ll have to remember to check them tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi Mara, I think the thick padded blotting sheets helped with the drying process and must be very absorbent. I ditched the plastic bag and removed the press from it after a few hours as I just couldn’t get my head around the idea of using it. I was worried the flowers would sweat and go mouldy. Hope this helps 💕
Holy Cow, Nina! I’m definitely going to order this press for the grandkids and will give it as a Christmas gift. Erin, Petra, Tanis, and I will have a blast gathering everything from buttercups and dandelions to pansies. So glad this company sent you one to try. The decanter is an icing tool, correct? Did you get yours online? Love your suggestions for using the dried flowers you pressed.
I was absolutely gobsmacked that they were all dry. I think this would be a great press for kids to use as no nuts and bolts for them to lose or swallow. I’m sure you’ll all have hours of fun 💕
@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia I was thinking the same thing. The flowers dried so quickly, as advertised and I don’t have to worry about little parts getting swallowed or lost. Found it on Amazon, also, which works perfectly for me.
