    Gorgeous dried flowers and a lovely way to display them in your nature book. I, too, am a crazed dried flower collector. Well they are dried once I press them. Back a while ago, I saw your other video on this subject and you used marker pens to colorize some flowers. I love the process and outcome so I've done this myself. I decided to put a small seed I found that looked like a miniature pinecone with a few of the needles still attached (along with a wee bit of sparkle glitter for interest) into a little coin holder. My plan is to use it in my ongoing Forest journal. Not sure if I'll put it in a pocket or glue it on the outside of the pocket. But what fun it is to create with these flowers. When I began looking for weeds and flora, I found myself shocked at the sheer number of them. When I had imagined what might be here to look for, I thought there wouldn't be much. Instead I found all kinds of flowers from wild yellow poppies to seeds of all shapes and sizes. I've gone places in the mountainous woods and found beautiful oak leaves (some were very small and cute, others full size) as well as tiny acorns with little caps still on their heads. Nature is nearly everywhere if we look. This tutorial for my tea bags is wonderful as always, Nina, I feel so inspired and will look in my files for my used ones and then make some more😊🌲🐿🌸🌸🌼🌺🌻Thank you soooo much, M'Lady. XOXOJANE

      Hello Jane. Some flowers just naturally loose their colour during the drying process and alcohol markers are a great way of bringing them back to life. So glad you have tried it. As you say, it’s amazing how many different varieties you can find if you look hard enough. Our garden is slowly starting to come into bloom again, and so I will be taking advantage and drying more of this years specimens, as well as some that I am sure to find whilst out walking Toby. Hope you are having a good week 💕 xo

    The flowers look so lovely preserved in that way. I live in the desert here in Texas so it is very difficult to find the types of flowers small and able to be dried. I will have to put on my thinking cap for ideas- maybe small leaves ( though they are hard to find too!). Thanks for the inspiration!

    This is an awesome idea!!! I’ve done a similar thing using napkins over dried plants on cardstock (which I think was your inspiration originally too), but I love the translucent effect & colours involved by using the teabags. Especially since I tend to have rosehip & hibiscus coloured tea bags (tasty tea too!). But I also bought some empty teabags online, so could use any of my ink sprays/watercolour/Brushos etc to colour them first & give them a unique look. Would never have thought of enhancing the flowers & leaves using alcohol markers either 😱 You are a genius!!!

    Hello Nina. - thanks for this video. I am a big tea drinker and have saved many many bags to learn how to use them. Now I have your ideas to use! What would you use if you didn't have any dried flowers? Also, could you use 'Gel medium' or 'Gloss medium' as well as 'Matte' ? I am very much a beginner in this sort of thing and would love your answers. I do have Modge Podge however. What would be your ratio for mixing it with water? I also love to see you put together your Daphnes Diary pages. Do always use the elastic to create the way you attach the signatures or could you use string, embroidery thread, or cord? Love your procedure for them! Hi from Utah, USA!

    • @NinaRibenaMixedMedia
      @NinaRibenaMixedMedia  Год назад

      Hello Debbie, leaves would also look wonderful with these tea as, even craft skeleton leaves if you have any. How about feathers? You could also use any type of paper ephemera, or even postage stamps. Hope this gives you a few ideas. As for glue. Gel medium will be fine. Gloss medium will just give you a shiny finish instead of matte, but will work just fine. If you are using ModPodge, I would water it down to a 3 parts glue 1 part water ratio as it will be much easier to handle. Here is the link to my latest DD journal as I have used string for the binding. Hope this helps ruclips.net/video/YOcX2O5ArHk/видео.html 💕

      Oh, thanks for answering my silly questions. Like I said, I am such a beginner. - I am more of a scrapbooker, but love what you do. When I look to buy the glues, I get kind of confused. I want to make the DD journals that you do, so need the right stuff. I have years of the magazine, double copies. I guess I love to collect too!
