One of your followers with a great sense of humor said that every time her son walks in the room, he says "Are you watching Nina Ribena again?" and I think of that and laugh every time I watch one of your videos (because, yes, I'm watching Nina Ribena again). I love your videos. They're so satisfying!
Nina, I love the effect you got by using the coloured pencils on top of the white gouache. I always seem to learn something new by watching your videos. Thanks so much for sharing!🥰
Hi Nina… love the gray toned paper and the idea of using stencils to create embellishments. The white gouache really make the colors stand out. I’ll look forward to seeing what you create with them. Take Care and have a great day! 🙂
Ooh I'm off to my stencil stash! These are gorgeous, Nina. What a good idea to work on something other than a white background (which is what I always use) - so now I'm going to experiment with other coloured backgrounds to see what I get! Many thanks as ever!
Good morning nina, how nice that "old things" are giving new inspiration. You are in a spring mood, flowers, birds, bees and colours. This is a nice thechnique. I realise that I have watercolour crayons and never used them, so....... Happy Easter...love and hugs lenaxx
Hello Lena. Happy Easter. I am loving revisiting my old supplies and trying to find new ways of using them. Hope you have a wonderful week. Love and hugs to you too 💕🌸🐇🌷 xxx
I absolutely love this 🥰 it’s like coloring in a coloring book but actually making collage ephemera. I too haven’t used my coloring pencils & crayons in ages. Plus I have hoards of beautiful stencils. This has been very inspiring. You’re brilliant & absolutely awesome ❣️
Your technique in using multiple media is amazing. I love watching you work and hope to recreate your technique with similar results. Thank you for sharing.
Very creative. I’ve ne er thought of using my stencils to just focus on one part of it on a separate paper. I’m sure that’s something lots of other people know, but very inspiring for me! TFS! 😀
Thanks Kay, glad you like them. We spent a couple of days in Plymouth visiting family and it was wonderful. We are all have pink noses and foreheads! Hope you are having a good Easter too 🌸🌷🐇💕 xx
Thank you so much Nina, I really really enjoyed watching you create those different types of embellishments for your stash. They are really really stunning and gorgeous too, I really really love ❤️ the Bee 🐝 And I’m really really looking forward to seeing what you do with them too. Happy Easter 🐣 too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia so, I tried using my Inktense pencils over the gesso but not too much pressure then lightly misted with water and where the Inktense dissolved as such into the gesso grain, it left like a crackle effect. Worth a little mess about with them 👍❤️
Stunning, you have the perfect stencils there, I always seem to buy the wrong ones lol. I love the use of the grey paper and it's held up really well. Happy Easter to you and your family, hope you're getting the sunshine we have here in Lancashire. Tfs xo
Hi Nina, a very Happy Easter to you. Thank you for this beautiful demonstration with your mixed media - they're so lovely. I love the Dina Wakerley masks and stencils. The blue for the bird is absolutely gorgeous. Have a great Easter break. Take care xx
Happy Easter Valerie. We have just got back from a weekend in Plymouth, so it’s been a wonderful Easter. The weather was gorgeous too and we are all looking a tad rosy 💕🌸🌷🐇
I am going to have to buy some gouache, theses are wonderful Nina. I may give it a try with some cheap white watercolors and see if that works too. Happy Easter Nina!
They look awesome. I'm currently building a stash to make a journal, videos like this are so useful. I'm trying not to buy anything so I'll see if I can make a stencil.
Awwwe thank you Claudette. I started doing mixed media about 7 or 8 years ago finding inspiration from the likes of The Frugal Crafter, Roben Marie Smith, Traci Bautista, Cat Hand, Shannon Green ……. Who were all popular RUclipsrs at the time. I had never done any type of art until this point, although I have always been creative. I love experimenting and will try my hand at most things, even if I’m not very good at it, as I think that’s how you learn. Never be afraid to try 💕
Hello Nina, would gouache stop paint or markers bleeding through? I want to do some journaling but don't want the markers to bleed through, the pages are quite thin. I'm new to this lol

I love that you paint and create your own ephemeral pieces. So unique and creative. Thanks for sharing Nina!
Thank you so much 💕
The combination of the mixed media/colors are striking! And the stencil usage with your talents to create are another great avenue to try. Thank you!
Thank you so much 💕

Gorgeous embellishments, I love the Fern leaf 🤗💜🧚♀️
Thanks Purple Fairy 💜
Pretty embellishments. I think the gouache undercoat and the grey toned paper work well 🌸
Thanks Wendy, yes I love that combination. Gouache works well on Kraft too 💕
Love all of these but that little bird was just gorgeous. Great job Nina!
Thanks Alicia. I love that bird stencil. There are two birds in the set, but the chubby one is my favourite 💕

Glad you enjoyed this Susan. It felt good digging my stencils out of hiding 😘💕
What a wonderful technique-the white gauche behind the color is very effective.
Thanks Christie, glad you like it 💕

What a great idea. I think you could also do the technique directly onto an art journal page. Can't wait to try
Thanks Kim, working directly into a journal is a great idea 💕
Those turned out just great! I'm working on butterfly embellishments right now; at the fussy cutting stage.
Butterflies are a great idea 💕

Thanks Kerri. Happy Creating and Happy Easter 💕🌸🌷 x
These are amazing. I'm working on some right now as I watch this. I have gouache that I have never even opened!
I’m so glad this has inspired you to open it. It’s great for splattering too because of its opacity. Can’t wait to see what you’ve created 💕
I will have to try this. They are beautiful.

Thank you so much. You could always paint the design with gouache or gesso and then use pencils or crayons over the top. Happy Creating 💕
I just love you and your work. How long have you been doing mixed media, and how did you get started?
Funnily enough I was wondering the same things myself xx

Oops, that should have been Dina Wakeley - my stupid phone sometimes changes my spelling!! I don't expect you even noticed?!!! xx
Haha, Mine does that too 💕 x
Hello Nina, would gouache stop paint or markers bleeding through? I want to do some journaling but don't want the markers to bleed through, the pages are quite thin. I'm new to this lol
No, it wouldn’t. You would need to use a primer like gesso, which comes in clear, white or black. Hope that helps 💕

great collage pieces, thanks nina!katharina(my brothers account was on)
