Regarding your thumb, can't you just use straps ( figure of 8 preferably, as they don't require you to grip the bard hard) temporarily on pulling exercises? I know it is on your 'under' hand on deadlift, which makes it doubly awkward, but if it reduces pain a bit and helps it recover it might be worth it. With the numb arm, could be a nerve thing, go see a physio. My wife had numbness and pins and needles in her arm, the physio gave her some exercises to do on her upper back/neck, numbness has nearly gone now
