I think it is just amazing how your plant passion and you yourself grew during the last few months due to your move and your new apartment. Remembering the shock of the termination notice of your old place, which seemed like the worst thing possible at the time, you've come a long way and I dare to say everything worked out and unfolded perfectly for you! 🌈 Lots of planty love 🌱💖🌞
As a Canadian going into winter, I miss spring 😭😭😭 I’m so sick of the cold already. It’s dark so early and it’s miserable even without snow yet.. especially considering our summer in Nova Scotia was cold wet and miserable for most of it, and there was wildfires during the other shorter hot part. Our spring was basically summer and summer was awful. So it’s making this fall/winter season even harder. I’ll live vicariously through you until the warm weather is here again 😅
Amazing collection! Thank you for sharing with all of us. I loved your comment, "I can't stop myself from buying things." So much sounds like us. As soon as there is extra money, "What plants can we get?" Anyway, have fun with your barbecue, and the umbrella looks awesome 👌
Hey Jan, for the greenhouse, what you could do is look into something similar to a inkbird ihc 200 (there are ofcourse better options out there, but something of this sort would be good), which is an outlet combined with a humidity meter, and you put your misters into it, and they go on automatically once the reader reads that the humidity drops under a certain amount! that way you dont have to manually adjust the timer!:)
I think what you need is a humidistat! Sorry if you know that already or if it’s not quite right, but a humidistat - I think - allows you to set a ‘goal’ humidity level.
Love seeing all your beauties!! It’s cold up here in Canada (well kind of mild where I am but not the growing season) so I appreciate living vicariously through you in your growing season. Giving me all the inspo for next spring! I’m looking into a greenhouse similar but smaller. Just love your vibes and your collection; and Bradley of course!
Stunning! So enjoyable to see how everyone has adapted/thrived after the move under your TLC and know-how. The greenhouse is perfection, thinking back on the day you assembled it. Be proud! (Bradley looks as if he's thinking "the guy just never shuts up!")
Tks for sharing your beautiful plants with us...unimaginable large big ass leaves on your indoor beauties...you did well with the greenhouse..congratulations.
*sigh*. Everything looks wonderful 😍🤩. The greenhouse is beautiful - like AJ's misty section. Can't believe it's been 8 months already 😵💫 Now you can sit back under the umbrella, enjoy a barbie and mojito, and take pride in the little paradise you created. Cheers🍹 😻🐈💚
Everything looking beautiful! Pest prevention by keeping everyone clean definitely a lofty goal with the size of collection. I use neem oil+ Dr bronners peppermint soap in spray bottle on the worst afflicted babies. 😻
Wow, wow, wow Jan your courtyard is looking lush and very inviting esp now with the addition of the umbrella👌🏼 I envisage many days n nights out there with friends, sipping cocktails and enjoying canapes or a barbie, I'm sure. Good for you....enjoy 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
All of your plants are so healthy looking and beautiful. I always get motivated to do plant chores, rearranging my plants, organizing etc. after watching your videos 😊
I've watched a million plant shows, and your way of doing things is more effective, in my opinion. I just got a monstera clipping, so I am buying a chunky medium and a moss pole straight away as you would say. I may just repot other plants in the same medium. Keep up the good work. I'm in Michigan, US!
Your orchid is a cymbidium. If your outdoor temps stay above 3-4 celsius (40 for me) you will be able to leave it out all winter. The cool nights in fall cause it to set bloom for late winter and early spring. Mine get good light in summer but probably part shade for you to make them bloom. I find the leaves look a bit yellow green in summer when they get enough sun on them. The roots are beefy and they can wedge themselves in a pot so make sure the sides are straight or angled wider at the top. I made that mistake and it took me many hours to get it out of the pot it had been in for many years and i was certain the tale was going to end with a hammer. Anyway, your videos are an inspiration. I started getting tiny alocasias after seeing yours and i just love them! You’ve turned me on to syngoniums, showed me pothos isn’t always boring, showed me about moss poles and given me the courage to grow plants from seeds, corms and stumps. Thank you!!
I live in Denmark and now in winter it´s so dark and wet and cold , I really enjoy seeing your spring content while also being jealous :D you could get a few nice bigger stones or something to put around the maranta or other plants to try to get Brad to not sit on them, just make the spot less comfortable and I´m sure he will sit somewhere else. Do you have merch available already? I like the design on your shirt, or maybe your logo or some of your favorite/most famous plants with bread hiding in between. Your mosspoles inspired me to put my adansonii on one and it´s now one of my favorite plants, it´s just so lush and beautifu. It´s a couple of vines and the leaves are about 20-25cm long, I think for the crappy danish sun that´s alright. It just got it´s first pole extension.
Such a wonderful multitaskable video to have on at work. Thank you for sharing, and not spending time lecturing me on how to properly attach to moss poles every episode :)
Very beautiful and I always learn something from you. I love heliconias. They are very challenging in my temperate climate in Atlanta as I have to bring them inside in the winter. I’m still trying to get my H. rostrata to bloom. It is so cool.
Hi Jan - your plants are looking great i envy you the warmer conditions compared with Auckland but we are finally getting to the warmer weather and seeing the plants respond. A suggestion for your powdery mildew problem - i did some work of this when i was at University for the organic growers. Yes baking soda 1teaspoon per litre (if you got leaf damage maybe it was too concentrated) also add a few drops of dishwashing detergent (not too much) - this was the best treatment i found. I found it was needed almost weekly in humid conditions and did a good job of controlling the powdery mildew. In the greenhouse check under the pots for slugs related to the leaf damage - i had problems with them in my greenhouse. Always enjoying your videos best wishes Pauline
Glad you put the nepenthes at the top of the greenhouse! It's the higher light that induces pitchering in nepenthes not humidity. Rokko can be grown sub 50% humidity just fine as long as you give them bright light! Where you had it before just wasn't bright enough for it. So they just gave you leaves with no pitchers.
This is a AMAZING video!!! Your collection is perfection!! I have a lot of the same ones and some I have to get after seeing your video!!! I love have you keep everything so LUSH don’t want it growing into the bathroom LOL!! Loved that part about the syngonium trail! Now the greenhouse…….. OMG your stuff is out of this world!!! Can’t wait to see what you do next! I’m new to your channel by the way and to growing aroids. So I will be using your knowledge and advice alot! Love your moss poles to!
Try growing a chocolate mint plant, which is a peppermint mutant. It has dark green leaves and burgundy stems. It is not as aggressive as spearmint. Spearmint can be a real beast in the garden. If you boil some chocolate mint leaves with water it will make your home smell like a peppermint patty! a small clump of Roman chamomile would love the conditions you have. Roman chamomile smells like Juicy Fruit gum.
Beautiful collection! my top 5 faves from all your babies: anthurium forgetii x magnificum, philodendron glorious, philodendron melanochrysum, alocasia cuprea and monstera el salvador
Greetings, your plants are looking great! I am a little concerned about your fan in the green house. Is it waterproof? Coz if not, it may result of an electric short circuit and fire.
They're all looking great. Your hot house is coming along nicely. With your love of tropical plants I think you're living in the wrong state tho.. better make the move to Qld 🥰
Your alocasia cupera is beautiful! Mine is small, what type of soil, medium do you grow it in? I've had mine for 7 months and still small with 3 leaves. It get sun from a south facing window. I have not changed the original soil. Advice would be greatly appreciated.
The pappillilaminum hybrid, are you planning on propagating your plant to share/sell cuttings? I’m not anywhere that could currently receive such a cutting (importing plants here is very complex) but it’s a beautiful plant and I am sure many people would be interested.
I have the same lights as you and have wanted to stack mine on top of each other like that...how did you do that? could you send me a video or describe to me how. I dont see how its possible lol. Thank you!
You replied to my comment about crawling philo that the horizontal moss pole would be just a long pot but think how it would look two or three meters on your fence
When your plants become bigger, how do you transfer your plants from the pole that's halfmoon with plastic back to your usual round one? Are you going to transfer it though? I find that I really have difficulties when it becomes tall and I'm just using the halfmoon one.
No i don’t transfer them :) if anything ai do the opposite, transfer the open ones to a plastic backed one when it matures. I have some video on it in my Moss Pole Playlist:)
Hey, i'm trying to find chunky perlite but it seems like it is rather difficult to get here in Sweden. Do you buy your perlite online? Would you mind telling me where if you do? The only perlite i can get here in Sweden is super small and it also contains alot of dust and it also is like 6 liters for 10 euros... Your videoes are really helpful and i really enjoy watching them, thank you!!
It all looks so wonderful! I love your videos! Have you ever noticed that when you cut off an inflow that the plant just gives you another one as if it’s determined? I’ve been noticing that with some of my alocasias 😂 my longiloba is refusing to give me a new leaf until I let it have an inflow
What pots are you using to put your 140mm clear pots into? I am struggling to find something that fits well and has enough weight to support a 140mm clear pot and 180cm of moss poles.

It's been a few months and I haven't seen them again, so hopefully they're gone for good, but I also brought the plant home and had it in my house for several months before noticing the spider mites. I'm going to give it another shower and neem treatment soon, just to kick any possible survivors to the curb.

Just realised. Haven’t seen AJ for so long!!😢❤ miss your goffy personalities shine when you’re together 🌱
Yes it’s been too long :) we’ve both been crazy busy recently :)
You have a beautiful paradise. I am always envious of your glorious. Your orchid is a Cymbidium, which needs a strong chill to produce flowers.

We had a HOT summer in Virginia. The sun was brutal. Hope you have a perfect growing season!!
Thank you:)
You could set up a little "smart home" stuff for the green house: Put a humidity/temperature in it and trigger the humidifier when it goes below x %
Yeah that’s the idea but haven’t found the right equipment yet that all talks to each other

What is that hanging plant inside your green house that looks like braids, on the right corner when you enter.

Hi there, thanks so much for teaching, I am wondering if you get indoor mosquito? Any advice that actually works, I would appreciate 😢
Never had that problem before so can’t give advice sorry
Para evitar la molesta araña roja usa azufre, echalo sobre la planta al aire libre y con eso se acaba la plaga, saludos desde México
Oh my goodness! If my bird of paradise grows half as big as yours I would be so happy! But our weather here in Canada isn't as nice as yours..
It is sold under the name Monstera in Turkey. It has roots. in the pot

those were really nice cymbidium orchids. they like to be dry all the time.

What pots are you using to put your 140mm clear pots into? I am struggling to find something that fits well and has enough weight to support a 140mm clear pot and 180cm of moss poles.
Once I extend to 180cms i usually pot my plants into 20cm pots … bunnings has lots of heavy decorative options in that size :)
I think the Rubrijuvenile is a hybrid in growing. It can do both like maybe the Luxurians.
Spider mites. What has worked well for me is a mixture of dr broners peppermint Castile soap, rubbing alcohol and water.
Also rotate between this and other spider mite spray because they can become immune to treatments if the same treatment is used all the time.
Yes. Agreed. Great spidermite treatment
Great tip, thanks :)
Would you say a Gloriosum like more of a moister soil than most philos or dryer?
Given gloriosum is a crawler they would usually like a more water retentive mix compared to epiphytes
Jan, you have far more than 150 plants already, haven't you???😉
What if you tried mixing the crystallinum with the Bosworth Beauty?
Your orchid looks like a Cymbidium. If so, it should be able to enjoy outdoor conditions as long as it doesn't get frosty.
Acequinocyle works really well for spider mites in experience. There are different brands and different product names with that ingredient out there... at least in Europe.
Woah, what is the name of the maranta at 58:15? I've never seen one with so much black!
it's a maranta kerchoveana, just exposed to a lot of sun which brings out the dark colors :)

Question for you, if you fertilize first and then soak your plants, aren’t you washing most of that fertilizer away?
Yeah, ideally do it the other way around :D
