Banger! I don't think Emppu is ever angry. He's the joker in the pack. I think he was trying to smile with a guitar pick between his teeth. If you want to see Kai, as well as being introduced to multi-instrumentalist Troy Donockley, react to one of my favourites, "Seven Days to the Wolves" live at Wembley Arena. You're a fun reactor.
Thanks for that compliment :). And i just love Emppu. I have noticed the fact that he is the joker/prankster of the group. I want my tears back is next as I really wanted to see Troy and Kai next. Your requests are on my list to react to soon. It shall happen!
@@VikingReacts Make sure you do the live version of I Want My Tears back in Buenos Aires 2018 (I believe)..such amazing crowd energy and Floor is dancing! Not to mention during that concert..Floor and I think some of the band were just getting over the flu.
@@VikingReacts It is a shame that his continuing desperate insomnia became unmanageable and he had to step aside, but he is much better and operates as the band CEO in effect, he does occasionally make a guest appearance though. ruclips.net/video/3W7TJcuuYgQ/видео.html
@@VikingReacts You're doing alright as you do now. Keep that going. Though I really love Rancid Jane's comment and I fully agree with her, there are some 'whiners' that wil downvote you if they feel you pause too much.
@@VikingReacts Also Mr. Viking, it is your channel and you do as you please, we are not paying you directly to spend the time and effort making these videos, which is greatly appreciated by me at least.
Great reaction Mr Viking!!! Been watching ur videos since the start and I'm a big Nightwish fan too. You said or asked in Romanticide "When this covid is over we will go see them and who is with me?" Well you might know but the concert in Holland is planned on 22 and 23 of November in the Ziggo Dome!! So buckle up coz when covids lets us Im part of it. Hope to see you there.............Greetingsfrom Holland
I registered on Ticket Swap to get a ticket for that. You can't be sure if it will ever result in an actual ticket...but we'll see indeed! Greetings from Amsterdam!
Synchronized windmilling, pure joy on your face, loving Emmpu, appreciation of Jukka....this reaction has everything I want! Can't wait for more! Subbed :)
Who could be mad at a viking playing Nightwish and Storytime yet. I like your format with a full screen for the video. Yes, there just seems to be something about Jukka on the drums. I can only describe Floor as glorious.
This entire concert is outstanding. To think Floor hadnt even been with them for a year yet. I still think all the smiles among the band are them thinking Oh hell YES this team works baby!
Ah, from one of the greatest nations on the planet! The land producing my favourite alcoholic beverage. The noble Whisky that will put hair and you chest and chin! Thanks for stopping by and leaving both a sub and a comment!
All Hail The Valkery Goddess, Queen of the Windmill, high notes and sheer Badassness. 👑🤘This is my favorite song so thank you for the Amazing reaction absolutely loved it. Your channel is one of my favorites. Please react to Nightwish Yours Is An Empty Hope ( Floor is the one growling in this song not Marco) and Devil And The Deep Dark Ocean Buenos Aires 2018🤘😁🤘💜
Storytime never fails to put a smile on my face. If you like Jukka and his drumstick twirling, then check out the song Amaranth also from Wacken 2013. In the chorus he repeatedly twirls his drumstick in-between hitting the cymbals. Stay safe 🤘✌
And there are so many :). That is a huge compliment my friend. By the way... your name is German if I am not mistaken. And you are in Holland? There must be a story to this ;)
I saw a comment during the video that you ‘never fell in love with a band this fast.’ It only took two songs for me: the first one I heard was Amaranth. Then came Wish I Had an Angel and I was hooked. 🤘😝🤘
im so happy i found this channel u do great job on reacting and u also look like band members like is he mad what is happening etc and it shows u generally enjoy music =) keep up uber work best wishes from finland
Thank you so much for this comment. Music is a powerful force. I have always found great help during hard times and strong emotions when listening to music performed by true artists. It has to be something that others feel too. Might as well take you along on the ride ;)
I don't mind the pausing. That makes me like your reaction more! To watch you get excited and surprised is the reaction I love to see! I'm excited to see you every Friday now! Rock on!
Good to know! Just trying to keep the non-paused comments short and the pauses for actual valuable reactions. It seems I am doing ok ;) Thanks for your comment!
New sub here from Sweden! What great reactions you have! Just love Nightwish and Sabaton! Looking forward to more of this on your channel. Keep up with the Wacken show when it comes to Nightwish and explore Sabaton´s live shows from Woodstock or their The great tour. For a new Vikning inspired bans check out Brothers of Metal. ;)
Great job again! OK, time for a little Troy! "I Want My Tears Back", live from Buenos Aires 2019 is a very fun, Celtic feel song where you will get your first glimpse of another member of the band, Troy! Such a feel good party song, I think you will love it too. Cheers!
@@VikingReacts Well either we are two great minds thinking alike or I am just getting lucky! As for other bands you might check out, try The HU, "Wolf Totem", "Yuve Yuve Yu", and/or "Star Wars - Jedi Fallen Order". Mongolian throat singing at it finest! From my home country, Canuckistan, Unleash The Archers "Awakening" is quite the slayer. Again, perhaps you already know or have done them. Haven't had a chance to look. Cheers! Chat with you later mate.
Jukka keeps rocking back and forth to help keep in sync with the click track in his monitors. Effective way to do it. Actually, spinning a stick that way is really easy with a bit of practice. Nice reaction - keep going. You make us Vikings proud!
Yeah, i understood as much. I just love that he is ALWAYS into his craft. All of them show passion for what they do and I love it. And thanks for the compliment!
I love your reactions man! The Nightwish Army welcomes you, when Floor sings and people react like we all do to her powerful and beautiful voice, we smile, like yep, I get that! This whole band is freaking awesome! Tuomas is a genius poet composer.
Thank you very much for the compliment and the welcome amongst your ranks :). I find it a very pleasant place filled with good music and awesome people!
Emppu is a jokester in this band 🥰 If you want to see Jukka spinning stick every 2min, watch "Nemo" from the same concert. 😄 and Kai is our octopus! He have 8 limbs on that drums! 😀🐙 Awesome reaction!! 🤟 cant't wait for more
I'll check it out! It is kinda cool to watch all of these performers. There is so much fuss about Floor (rightfully so by the way) but all of them bring their all to the party. Epic
Great reaction from you 👍 In my opinion, the only info you actually need about the Poet and the Pendulum are: It's a suicidal depression, illustrated or rather performed in music, in a way that are unmatched by anyone else. The composition of the music are a mirror of the thoughts running loose, emotions overwhelmed by sad and depressive thoughts, the surroundings - nature and people . The way Floor and Marko are able to use their voices to express emotions are unbelievable. The background story is the "not well handled departure of Tarja" - but the song will fit into other scenarios as well, that leads into a deep depression. All the personal guessing and who did what, are not important to understand the meaning of the song. Floor and Tuomas said in an interview, that they were proud of how they managed to get those emotions in it - because it is personal. (Tuomas actually gets the technicians to kill Floor's voice in his earplugs, to keep concentrated)
Damn... it does sound very heavy indeed. It warrants proper prep work I am sure. I really want to do this justice. People already told me this is a work of art... But him having to kill the vocals... wow.
@@VikingReacts The only advice is to not feel obligated on doing NW reaction when you don't feel like. We all have a life to stand in the way of fun, sometimes we aren't in the mood and things could be forced. Not that you did that. And enjoy the ride, this band is actually worth it.
Great and fun reaction, go back as many times you want, I don't mind. Plenty of time to do some Nightwish songs before the concert in November 2021, hope to see you there.
They are right about the backstory, those songs are outstanding to react to on their own, but there is a lot happening during those songs/performances, knowing the backstory will help you follow along and enhance your enjoyment 10 fold..
You can certainly expect to see us all next Friday - you've certainly caught the joy of Nightwish. "There isn't a bad song in the Wacken show" - you don't know how right you are . . . but you will know soon. Great reaction.
Didn't mention "this is my favorite song" so my earlier prediction failed :) Best part you'll have these awesome songs for every Friday for the rest of the year at least.
You have to listen (and maybe react) to: -The whole Wembley concert (for the newer songs) -The whole Buenos Aires concert (for the old Tarja songs, but with Floor)
I do have some of those in the list of songs to react to. Eventually I want to do live watch party streams where we react to entire concerts. How about that ;)
Another fun reaction to a band having so much fun! If the energy could be harnessed from Nightwish gigs, they could power a large city! Don't worry about pausing. As some one else already posted, your reactions aren't dull, and what you have to say is relevant. I'm subscribed (although I didn't receive a notification for this reaction?), so I am looking forward to when you 'graduate' to the Poet and The Pendulum.
Hmm, youtube is always a bit weird when it comes to notifying people. But you got here anyways :). I had a very lengthy comment explaining the backstory earlier today... Damn... That is some heavy stuff... And in regards to the pausing...it is a fine line between pausing too much and too little ;)
Our Queen, our Valkerie came down from Asgard to sing to the most beautiful fans of all, The Nightwish Army. great reaction thanx for that, the suggestion for doing the whole gig without pause......LET'S DO IT. greets from the netherlands.( tot de volgende clip, kan niet wachten. topper).
Yes you choose one of my top favorites of them to react to next! :D Rock on, my friend! ;) I love, love, love, love this song and performance! 8D Lovely to see your hyperness, it really is a mirror to my own :D
A new set of eyes reveal other things I suppose ;). And yes... I actually had the same thought. She is indeed very sexy in this performance (other as well obviously) but there is something about her in this song... Glad you share that thought!
I feel bad, I have "known" about Nightwish for several years, but never listened to them until very recently, Floor has easily become my favorite singer of all time, and Nightwish as a whole is one of my favorite bands. Thanks for your reactions!
Don't feel bad! I've actually met Floor once when she was still in After Forever and I never kept track of her after that... Imagine how stupid i feel now :P
Nightwish army UK 🇬🇧 reporting for duty.... I'm liking your reaction style sir.... Mostly the respect you show the artist by using "mini me" mode... Lol...props to you for that, you may stop / talk over, but its usually interesting or fun or both and then go back a little.👍👍 If I want a clean video I'll watch the original... I'm here to see your reactions. Keep on doing what you're doing. Enjoy your nightwish journey viking 🤘🤘
It is a fine balance in making sure you see as much of me as you need to vs enjoying the actual subject of the video ;). Personally... i never understand why some reactors have a really tiny window with the actual video. Same as having the audio all wrong. Video low and their own voices much louder. Especially Nightwish needs to be blasted out of those speakers! But hey, I am happy you like it! Thanks for the compliment, the feedback and you following my journey!
I love it when she comes with her open arms and starts singing those high notes.. I will not mind if she will come to take my soul when I will die, it doesn't matter where she takes me😁 great reaction, I enjoy how much fun you have with them. For me another fun band is Powerwolf, you can try the song "sanctified with dynamite". Can wait for next Friday. Stay safe🤘😁🤘
Don't be sorry for talking and pausing. That's what we like! You want some not-so-highly requested Nightwish songs? Several of my favourites are rarely (if ever) reacted to: * Angels Fall First (Very beautiful oldie with Tarja) * The Riddler (A fast-paced oldie with Tarja) * Meadows of Heaven (My favourite with Anette. Best option is a fan made video with landscape imagery). * Dead to the World (Super catchy chorus. Marko is great in this. I think there are live versions with Tarja as well as with Floor.) * Pharaoh Sails to Orion (The song that got me hooked on Nightwish back around 2000. There is a live video with the mighty Tapio Wilska as guest vocalist (the guy who sang on the album version))
yess ! a good one ! If yo want more Floor's belt, try "devil and the deep dark ocean - live Buenos Aires" or "dead boy's poem live Buenos Aires" ;). more heavy metal ? again from Buenos Aires: "slaying the dreamer".
Floor was introduced as the new singer of the band to those 82 thousand people there. I assume that those back and forth between Marco and Floor could be a kind of support from Marco to Floor. And the smiling face of Tuomas is because he realized that they reach the perfect formula of perfection with Floor. I'm assuming everything. The fact is that things were too difficult before this show: a lot of work and inversion to make a great tour, heath problems of the previous singer, etc. They almost canceled the tour. Floor was their life float, she took the risk without having enough time to think about it, learned the set of songs in few hours, faced the Nightwish public without knowing their reactions, etc. They had a lot of reasons to be happy that night!
As you mention Kai, you should actually react to another band he very known from, Wintersun and the perfect song would be "Sons of winter and stars" Live rehearsal version. Man that is an epic song and. also consider: unleash the archers - awakening Ayeron - The Day that the world Breaks Down and everybody dies
Jukka is moving while not drumming because he is keeping time with a click track in his ear monitor. He’s responsible for keeping the beat. Later you will want to catch Floor’s solo performances on Beste Zangers 2019 and several covers from 2020 and 2021 that she created in her home studio. It shows she is the absolute master of all genres. 😄🤘
Yeah, i understood that much. I didn't mean to say he isn't doing anything. What I meant was that he is so into his craft that he keeps the motion even though he isn't slamming the drums :)
Yes, do The Greatest Show on Earth (live @Tampere). The lyrics and the title is quite important. So yes, a bit of research is recommended ^^. Also watch it to the very end.
I know I am late finding your channel but ... Welcome to the phenomenon that is the genre of Symhonic metal and welcome to the Nightwish Army!! This was the Wacken Open Air Festival Concert back in 2013, and there were over 82,000 people at this concert. the current singer is from the Netherlands, and a majority of the band members are from Finland, although the woodwinds player is from England. FYI - keep reading because when this concert was recorded Floor was only a FILL IN for this tour! She wasnt invited to be a full time member until a few months later! SO WHAT STYLE OF MUSIC ACTUALLY IS BAND NIGHTWISH? Nightwish is actually one of the groups credited with the CREATION of the Metal Sub-genre of Symphonic Metal (according to Wikipedia!). Symphonic Metal in general only borrows the hard driving double kick drums, and the hard grungy style guitars and bass from Metal. However, in SYMPHONIC METAL the guitar is not the primary focal point, it is in fact the keyboards and their movie-scorish sounding orchestral sound. The keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen (first name pronounced as Too-oh-mas) is the composer of all of the music arrangements and is the leader of the group. He is a personal huge lover of movie scores, which is where a lot of the movie-scorish style sound of the keyboards comes from (which is the primary focal point of ALL of Nightwish’s music instrumentally). In Symphonic Metal 90-95% of all Symphonic Metal bands are all female fronted. Currently only Kamelot, Serenity, and a hand full of other Symphonic Metal bands even have male singers, and they are normally referred to as Symphonic Power Metal. The female fronted bands are the ones usually referred to over in Europe as ‘Symphonic Metal’. The most popular Symphonic Metal bands are Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica, and Kamelot. When Symphonic Metal first started the female lead singers used an operatic style of singing, but as the Genre has evolved over the last 20+ years in the UK since Nightwish came long in 1996, they have adopted more of a contemporary style of singing like Floor uses currently. Floor Jansen is the 3rd and current Lead Singer since Nightwish released its first album in 1996, and she is from the Netherlands. Keep in mind when Floor did this concert (Wacken Open Air in 2013), she had not been with Nightwish for very long, she was actually a FILL-IN for this particular tour. Nightwish was in the middle of the Imaginearum World Tour when they parted ways with their SECOND Lead Singer Anette Olzen (from Sweden), and Tuomas (pronounced as Too-oh-mas) called Floor and asked her if she could learn their entire set list in 48 hours and then fill-in for them for the rest of the tour. Within the next few short months, the band posted their first Official Live Performance video since they fired their first lead singer Tarja Turunen at the end of November 2005. During Anette's entire tenure with the band, Nightwish did not post ONE single solitary live performance video on their official RUclips channel. Hmmm? Curious? At the end of this Imaginearum World Tour (just a few months later!), (As Floor tells the story in an interview) the Band pulled both Floor Jansen and Troy Donokley aside and asked them to be official members of the band. Floor said both her and Troy both had tears in their eyes. Troy had been a guest musician with the band on such official videos like The Islander, but never an official member of the band. The rest as they say ... is history. CURRENT BAND MEMBERS • Tuomas Holopainen - keyboards, piano, is the primary musical composer for all arrangements Is also who formed the band, and is the leader of the group. • Emppu Vuorinen - All guitars (been with the band since its inception) - (His name is pronounced Ehm-poo) • Marko Hietala - bass, male vocals, acoustic guitar (very recently this year retired from public life) • Troy Donockley - uilleann pipes, tin whistle, low whistle, guitars, bouzouki, bodhrán, backing vocals • Floor Jansen - lead vocals (Floor is Nightwish current and THIRD Lead Singer) • Kai Hahto - drums (NOT APART OF THE BAND YET WHEN THIS CONCERT WAS FILMED - Kai was hand picked by the groups original drummer Jukka Nevalainen to replace him when he had to stepped down for medical reasons listed below. Kai is a personal friend of Jukka’s, as well as was Jukka's drum teacher) FORMER BAND MEMBERS SEEN IN THIS CONCERT AT THE WACKEN OPEN AIR FESTIVAL FROM THE YEAR 2013: • Jukka Nevalainen - drums ( original drummer from 1997-2014 and is who you see playing drums in this concert at the Wacken Open Air Festioval Show from 2013. He had to step down for severe medial reasons, and handpicked his replacement. Jukka nearly died from a period of 2 straight years of severe insomnia, and had to be hospitalized because of it. Even though he stepped down as drummer, according to Toumas, he is the CEO of the Nightwish Corporation now. So he is still very much a part of Nightwish.) Other Former Band Members NOT seen in this video: • Sami Vänskä - bass (1998-2001) • Tarja Turunen - vocals (Nightwish FIRST Singer for the first 10 years of Nightwish existence from 1996-2005) • Anette Olzon - vocals (Nightwish SECOND singer, from Sweden, from 2007-2012) These are songs I would recommend to listen to: 1. Poet And The Pendulum - This is one of the corner stone songs for this band. I would RESEARCH THIS SONG BEFORE REACTING TO IT. I would also not do this one right away, I would build up to this and get a few Nightwish songs under your belt before doing it. As stated above Floor Jansen is their THIRD Singer. Their first singer sang entirely in the operatic syle and was named Tarja Terunen. She was Nightwish Singer for TEN YEARS. Her last concert was THE END OF AN ERA concert filmed the end of November of 2005. Immediately after the conclusion of the END OF AN ERA concert Tarja received a letter called "The Open Letter" from the band telling her they were parting ways with her. Poet And the Pendulum is about the emotional heart wrenching experience of events that lead up to that decision, and the backlash from fans after ward. SO this song is extremely INTENSELY emotional. Doing your reseach into this before hand will help you understand why the song is so emotional and why it was written in 5 acts like it was. Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/iEzZRMthhXU/видео.html 2. Greatest Show On Earth - I would RESEARCH THIS SONG BEFORE REACTING TO IT. I would also not do this one right away, I would build up to this and get a few Nightwish songs under your belt before doing it. This song is about the creation of the universe, the big bang, and evolution. Be ready because this is a 20 min thrill ride that only feels like 3 or 4 minutes long. This one in particular will show off both her dynamic range and ability to change styles in a song, like Ghost Love Score. I think you might want to look for the Tampere Finland Show because it has FIREWORKS coordinated with the music. Also, I think its a good idea to look for the Tampere Finland show with lyrics, so you can follow along with the lyrics, as there is a lot to take in for this one. Look for the one with Lyrics and Fireworks both. Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/bl6lUfIMkGM/видео.html 3. Ever Dream - my absolute all-time favorite Nightwish song. The most high energy song they’ve ever done in my opinion. I think Wembley Arena show is the best one. Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/1Xi4n8dJcF8/видео.html 4. Romanticide - Be prepared because this is one of their heavier songs, and Floor and Marko both do some singing in this, and this one is an amazing thrill ride of a song. Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/видео.html 5. Elan - (this is an extremely up beat high energy song that just leaves you feeling good). Again Wembley Arena is a great one to react to. Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/XcwrwRKPaEg/видео.html 6. Alpenglow - (this is JUST a feel good song. And again, this was such a fun song in the Wembley Arena Show). Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/FrJvKZNEh7g/видео.html 7. Nemo (Nemo is from a Latin word which means no one or nobody. It is about a time in Toumas life when he felt his direction in life was aimless, and without real direction. It’s an awesome song and a HUGE favorite of long time fans. This song was originally written during the Tarja Era). Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/dR1gH5aQWBU/видео.html 8. Stargazers (this one is an OLD Nightwish song, and is sung almost entirely in an Operatic style, so if you wanna hear Floor sing Opera in a Metal song, this is the one to listen to. I would do this from the DECADES TOUR). Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/NhEuAPYm_Ug/видео.html 9. Yours Is An Empty Hope (Maybe do this one from the Tampere Finland Show. Be prepared because behind Marcos vocals on the chorus, is Floor growling. You read it correctly, yes she really CAN do everything!!). Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/XtXqUNB8zrU/видео.html 10. 10th Man Down (this is from the singers era, but Floor nails it perfectly.) Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/Px1YJ0EdNAI/видео.html 11. Last Ride Of The Day - I would do this from the Wembley Arena Show . This song was the second to the last song for the Wembley Arena Show from the Vehicle Of Spirit Blu-ray/DVD. It is simply one kick ass song. Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/CdfhJmkZRbU/видео.html 12. 7 Days To The Wolves - This is another kick ass song, and I would do this from the Wembley Arena Show. Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/XvsfwAPbWXc/видео.html
Awesome, a lot of info and links. You are making it easier for me to pick and use the right versions. This way it is easier to do the songs and the bands history justice! And late? Nah, this channel is a month old. No worries !
So few people react to Alpenglow and it makes me wonder why, it's legit one of my favourite songs. Just find the official live one they posted not terribly long ago. It's such a happy get you in a good mood song. Also The Islander - Live at Tampere really shows off Marko's singing ability if you wanna check that one out too~
To get ready for Poet and the Pendulum check out a bit more from Tarja and maybe a few from Anette, to understand the change in the band that happened and to what the fans and media reacted to. Then if you read about the open letter, media reaction (in Finland in particular) and Tuomas's interviews regarding the 2005 events and the album Dark Passion Play which all of those events lead into (where the Poet at the Pendulum is from)
My friend, you do a great windmill! The whole show would be great. It is wonderful beginning to end. Save PNP and TGSOE until a little later. They are both special and unique songs which require a little background to full appreciate at first listen. Love it Viking! 🎶🎶🎶🤘🤘🤘☝
If you enjoy Toumas’ facial expressions you should watch “She’s my Sin” from the same show. He really shows his emotions and how he is feeling about the music. You can also see how much he admires Floor and what she does. When you hear these songs with Floor you are hearing them the way Toumas envisioned when they were created. You can see that in his face. He has said in an interview that he has been a long time fan of Floor. Also... if you want to see Jukka spin his sticks while playing check out “Amaranth” and I think he does it in “Nemo” as well. Just some fun facts. Keep it rocking and keep it heavy. 🤘🤘
I think i've seen that look in his face indeed. Something like a proud brother having a blast :P. It must be a hell of a feeling to be a part of that group! Those songs you mentioned are indeed on my list to react to :).
@@VikingReacts I understand, I would apologise too, if only out of reflex :). It is better to be more insightful than to be rude. And you are quite welcome.
Great reaction man! You have a long list of songs to continue your journey. Try Shudder Before the Beautiful, Last Ride of the Day and the Greatest Show on Earth, from the concert at Tampere. Also from the concert at Wacken, Ever Dream, I Want My Tears Back (also the Buenos Aires version is good). From Wembley react to Poet and the Pendulum and Yours is an Empty Hope. From Bogota Elvenjig & Elvenpath, and from Buenos Aires Dead Boy's Poem. Enjoy your Nightwish journey. And for sure leave for last Poet and the Pendulum and the Greatest Show on Earth for sure. Do look into the story of Poet and the Pendulum before reacting to that one. I will follow your journey for sure.
All these songs are on the list and are highly requested. They have to be good :) I listen to your guys's advice as you know best. The power of the Nightwish army ;)
Hi Vikey, Kai is an eight-armed monster behind what we in the business call "cans". I've seen how drummers doing Kai drumcam reactions start to struggle for breath and gradually lose all confidence in their own abilities in the face of Kai's inhuman precision. It's not a pretty sight.
@@VikingReacts Then you'll need to check Kai out with Wintersun doing "Sons of Winter and Stars (TIME 1 Live Rehearsals At Sonic Pump Studios)" . An amazing band.
Great! I love your enthusiasm, For other bands I still reccommend After Forever (Monolith of doubt at the Kopspijkers show 2002) and I reccommend Ayreon, "The day that the world breaks down, with comments of Arjen Anthony Lucassen during the video. Skoll my friend!
Very nice reaction, Viking! Fyi about ‘The Poet and the Pendulum': 'The White Lands of Empathica' is a place in the book 'The Dark Tower' by Stephen King and the title of the song refers to a short story by Edgar Allen Poe 'The Pit and the Pendulum'. You could do some research about that to😅. The Wembley version with lyrics is the one to look for🤘🏼
Yo that in sync windmill with Floor was flawless my dude!!!
I actually laughed out loud when I spotted it myself :P
I don't mind the pauses and going back to watch again moments of interest. At least your reactions are not dull!!!
Well... i try to keep the flow going and react as well without messing with the experience of the actual song. It seems to work :P
YESS; THIS!!! ^
Good one, there is only one Floor. Everyone smiles when Floor sings.
Amen!
@@VikingReacts everyone before the goddess opens her mouth.
It's nice to see a reactor get as excited about Jukka as i do!
How can you not get excited :P. Jukka is very entertaining to watch. He enjoys himself so much :)
@@VikingReacts It is a shame that his continuing desperate insomnia became unmanageable and he had to step aside, but he is much better and operates as the band CEO in effect, he does occasionally make a guest appearance though.

Do not apologize for pausing and/or backing up this is a reaction. If we wanted uninterrupted video we would just go watch it on its own.
Which is true for almost ALL of you :). I just want to make sure you get the best experience. This is me trying to figure out "reacting" :P

Jukka is the "Disturbed" version of Kai. LOL
I will find out soon enough. I NEED to check out Kai!
@@VikingReacts If you want to see Kai going absolutely beast mode on the drums, you should check out something from his other band, Wintersun.
@@SnibediSnabs I requested "Sons of Winter and Stars" the other day. He said it's on the list.
That's a great way to describe him.

Thanks for a great video! Finally someone else saw Emppu's reaction.😁😁😁🙏🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hahaha, I am very aware of Emppu whenever he's in view. He is too funny to not watch him :P
@@VikingReacts You can also just order them from the ziggodome page or ticked master its not sold out ;)
@@mystical1976 GOT EM! Thanks for mentioning this! I have a ticket :)
@@VikingReacts Ur welcome! Let's hope this covid madness is getting better soon coz I really miss those concerts. Hope to see you there
@@mystical1976 I'll probably talk about this on Instagram. People should be able to find me and say hello ;)
Synchronized windmilling, pure joy on your face, loving Emmpu, appreciation of Jukka....this reaction has everything I want! Can't wait for more! Subbed :)
Wow, thank you! But how can one not do all these things :P
@@VikingReacts I have no idea but apparently straw hat man can! Even my 2yr old windmills like a demon to this song!
Who could be mad at a viking playing Nightwish and Storytime yet. I like your format with a full screen for the video. Yes, there just seems to be something about Jukka on the drums. I can only describe Floor as glorious.
Well... it seems we agree on all fronts :P
You make this old Viking smile. Thank you.
And these are the comments that matter the most :). You are very welcome!
Love your reactions, I’ll follow your Nightwish journey. So much fun when you know what’s coming 😄
Haha, i think people are really guiding me towards something they love now. I am just a passenger now :P
YES! Nighwish Army, New Mexico Division checking in! Love the reactions!
Well hello there New Mexico! Thanks for the comment / compliment!
Nightwish - The Best Symphonic Metal ever!! Floor is unique and mind blowing!
I'll take your word for it! So far... they do not disappoint :)
This entire concert is outstanding. To think Floor hadnt even been with them for a year yet. I still think all the smiles among the band are them thinking Oh hell YES this team works baby!
Best reaction ever . You Point out how much fun they have. Great reacting
you've earned yourself another sub my friend! excited to see you continue your nightwish journey. greetings from Scotland!
Ah, from one of the greatest nations on the planet! The land producing my favourite alcoholic beverage. The noble Whisky that will put hair and you chest and chin! Thanks for stopping by and leaving both a sub and a comment!
I really enjoy your reactions. You have a great sense of humor.
I appreciate that :P. It may just be my natural goofiness... or bad genes...who knows
SKOL and good reaction again Viking! Nightwish songs + Floor = Musical perfection.
Amen! And thanks for the compliment :)
Soon.... very soon. I want my tears back is first though ;)
@@VikingReacts that is another one of my favorite songs so I am 100%behind that one please consider doing the Buenos Aires 2018 one. 💜😁
Storytime never fails to put a smile on my face. If you like Jukka and his drumstick twirling, then check out the song Amaranth also from Wacken 2013. In the chorus he repeatedly twirls his drumstick in-between hitting the cymbals. Stay safe 🤘✌
On the list ;). It shall happen!
You are on your way to becoming my fave nightwish reactor sir! And not only because you are dutch. Just keep m coming!! Greetings from holland :)
And there are so many :). That is a huge compliment my friend. By the way... your name is German if I am not mistaken. And you are in Holland? There must be a story to this ;)
Storytime is an awesome song. Thanks.
well... you are welcome :)
That made me very happy. Thanks!
I'm glad! It was quite literally my pleasure :P
one of the best drummers EVER!!!!!
Remember. Floor Jansen does not walk on stage, she prowls
Sorry I haven't understood your comment. I know it's a joke but what do you mean?
That is what the big cats do for example when they hunt... They way they move is called a prowl ;)
I agree!
I just got one second premature floorgasm in anticipation of that last note she sang. ❤️
That is the only acceptable "gasm" to be premature! :P
@@VikingReacts 😂😂😂
Tuomas has reached the pinnacle of his composition, seeing Floor perform the songs to greatest level that he had hoped for. That is why he is smiling!
For a new Vikning inspired bans check out Brothers of Metal. ;)
Thanks for the sub! All of this is indeed on the list to react to. It shall happen. All of you guys seem to agree what is best. I love it :)
Great job again! OK, time for a little Troy!
"I Want My Tears Back", live from Buenos Aires 2019 is a very fun, Celtic feel song where you will get your first glimpse of another member of the band, Troy! Such a feel good party song, I think you will love it too.
Cheers!
That is indeed the next Nightwish react ;)
Good song for seeing Kai in full action: Devil and the deep dark ocean live in buenos aires!!!! EPIIIIIIIIIIIIIC!
It shall happen. There is another one first though :P
yeaaaaa this is one of my favorites because you can see how much fun their having! Always makes me smile :) Also sick work with the beard dude!
Just that short clip with Tuomas smiling made my day :) Thanks for the compliment!
Great reaction. Time for a "cold shower from the Ghost River". Also from the same Wacken show. Time for a little growl.
That too is on the list :). But there is another coming first ;)
He Had ONE of the best drumsound EVER!!!!!
Emppu is a jokester in this band 🥰
If you want to see Jukka spinning stick every 2min, watch "Nemo" from the same concert. 😄 and Kai is our octopus! He have 8 limbs on that drums! 😀🐙
Awesome reaction!! 🤟 cant't wait for more
I'll check it out! It is kinda cool to watch all of these performers. There is so much fuss about Floor (rightfully so by the way) but all of them bring their all to the party. Epic
Your reactions are very entertaining! Emppu always seems like he is having fun on stage, he is pretty much the prankster of the band! x)
So I have noticed. I love that guy :P And thank you for the compliment even though it is just me...being me ;)
Great reaction from you 👍
In my opinion, the only info you actually need about the Poet and the Pendulum are:
It's a suicidal depression, illustrated or rather performed in music, in a way that are unmatched by anyone else.
But him having to kill the vocals... wow.
Awesome! Great song pick and you are so entertaining!
Glad you enjoyed it! Definitely a great song :)
That synchronised windmilling alone is worth a like. The rest of reaction is also great. You're on a right track with your channel.
Much appreciated! And if ever you have anything to improve...mention it as well! I am just glad you like it so far!
Oh and I am going to that very concert indeed. I am so excited!
They are right about the backstory, those songs are outstanding to react to on their own, but there is a lot happening during those songs/performances, knowing the backstory will help you follow along and enhance your enjoyment 10 fold..
And thus I respect the wishes and advice from the Nightwish army ;)
You can certainly expect to see us all next Friday - you've certainly caught the joy of Nightwish. "There isn't a bad song in the Wacken show" - you don't know how right you are . . . but you will know soon. Great reaction.
Oh but the next is one from Buenos Aires ;). Thanks for the compliment!
Didn't mention "this is my favorite song" so my earlier prediction failed :)
Best part you'll have these awesome songs for every Friday for the rest of the year at least.
Haha, yup. What i said earlier...still counts :P. But who knows...
You have to listen (and maybe react) to:
-The whole Wembley concert (for the newer songs)
-The whole Buenos Aires concert (for the old Tarja songs, but with Floor)
I do have some of those in the list of songs to react to. Eventually I want to do live watch party streams where we react to entire concerts. How about that ;)
@@VikingReacts sounds nice
I love Emppu, he is always going to see how his mates are doing. And always smiling

Me too :). I kinda just want to listen to everything in my own time but I have to wait a week every time myself :P
I love seeing people getting floored, great vid 😎
Well... Nightwish is sure to help with that effect :P
I suggest "Ghost River" or "Dark Chest of Wonders" next from Wacken...
Both are on my list. Next up is "I want my tears back" though ;)
And in regards to the pausing...it is a fine line between pausing too much and too little ;)
Our Queen, our Valkerie came down from Asgard to sing to the most beautiful fans of all, The Nightwish Army. great reaction thanx for that, the suggestion for doing the whole gig without pause......LET'S DO IT. greets from the netherlands.( tot de volgende clip, kan niet wachten. topper).
It has to be done! When the songs are reacted to... we'll do a watch party ;). En dank je wel voor je comment :P

Welcome to Nightwish rabbit hole, my friend! It's cosy here:) Greets from Finland!
Hello there :). So far...it's seems like a very nice place indeed !
@@VikingReacts That is really dope, I am jealous!
There's absolutely no bad song on this set list, but I really love this song ❤
I'll be sure to find out ;)
Nightwish army UK 🇬🇧 reporting for duty....
Skol: I hated that brand of beer: always got me headaches lol. Great reaction!
Simple... drink mead! I am brewing my own now :P

Don't be sorry for talking and pausing. That's what we like!
You want some not-so-highly requested Nightwish songs? Several of my favourites are rarely (if ever) reacted to:
* Angels Fall First (Very beautiful oldie with Tarja)
* The Riddler (A fast-paced oldie with Tarja)
* Meadows of Heaven (My favourite with Anette. Best option is a fan made video with landscape imagery).
* Dead to the World (Super catchy chorus. Marko is great in this. I think there are live versions with Tarja as well as with Floor.)
* Pharaoh Sails to Orion (The song that got me hooked on Nightwish back around 2000.
All on the list! In good time ;)
@@VikingReacts for a teaser of what do Rammstein, let's watch: "ruclips.net/video/9bJP7Qe41Fk/видео.html". Sure you'll want see more ;) !
6:40...7:15 there is the prerecorded backtrack support. It makes the incredible sound. Credits Pip Williams & Tuomas in addition to Floor.
Yeah, i've heard it not just there but in other songs as well. It really adds to the experience!
Jukka did the spinning even in middle while he was playing. Should have a dedicated turn to have an eye on this :-)
Full on metal drum lord :)
So I can imagine. I've watched the documentary "learn the set list in 48 hours" and that was indeed one hell of a ride for all of them...
"Everything is highly requested" we don't call ourselves the Nightwish Army for nothing
We are going to finish it again fuck it haha I am with you on that. This is an amazing performance. Thank you for the video.
Good music... just listen it again...and again... and again... ah you get my point :P
Oh happy happy tijd. Grote glimlach hele nummer.
Ik gok wij beiden? :P
As you mention Kai, you should actually react to another band he very known from, Wintersun and the perfect song would be "Sons of winter and stars" Live rehearsal version. Man that is an epic song and.
also consider:
unleash the archers - awakening
Ayeron - The Day that the world Breaks Down and everybody dies
Sons of winter and stars... soon... very soon ;)
This song is just so god damn catchy! :D
AAAAAmazing!!!!!
Talking about yourself again? ;)
The lyrics of this are quite simply a Declaration of all that is Floor. She is the voice of never never land ......
Netherland ;)
But yes... i agree!
Two Dutch Windmills 🤘🤩
The rest as they say ... is history.
CURRENT BAND MEMBERS
• Tuomas Holopainen - keyboards, piano, is the primary musical composer for all arrangements Is also who formed the band, and is the leader of the group.
• Emppu Vuorinen - All guitars (been with the band since its inception) - (His name is pronounced Ehm-poo)
• Marko Hietala - bass, male vocals, acoustic guitar (very recently this year retired from public life)
• Troy Donockley - uilleann pipes, tin whistle, low whistle, guitars, bouzouki, bodhrán, backing vocals
• Floor Jansen - lead vocals (Floor is Nightwish current and THIRD Lead Singer)
• Kai Hahto - drums (NOT APART OF THE BAND YET WHEN THIS CONCERT WAS FILMED - Kai was hand picked by the groups original drummer Jukka Nevalainen to replace him when he had to stepped down for medical reasons listed below. Kai is a personal friend of Jukka’s, as well as was Jukka's drum teacher)
FORMER BAND MEMBERS SEEN IN THIS CONCERT AT THE WACKEN OPEN AIR FESTIVAL FROM THE YEAR 2013:
• Jukka Nevalainen - drums ( original drummer from 1997-2014 and is who you see playing drums in this concert at the Wacken Open Air Festioval Show from 2013. So he is still very much a part of Nightwish.)
Other Former Band Members
NOT seen in this video:
• Sami Vänskä - bass (1998-2001)
• Tarja Turunen - vocals (Nightwish FIRST Singer for the first 10 years of Nightwish existence from 1996-2005)
• Anette Olzon - vocals (Nightwish SECOND singer, from Sweden, from 2007-2012)
These are songs I would recommend to listen to:
Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/iEzZRMthhXU/видео.html
Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/bl6lUfIMkGM/видео.html
3. Ever Dream - my absolute all-time favorite Nightwish song. The most high energy song they’ve ever done in my opinion. I think Wembley Arena show is the best one.
Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/1Xi4n8dJcF8/видео.html
4. Romanticide - Be prepared because this is one of their heavier songs, and Floor and Marko both do some singing in this, and this one is an amazing thrill ride of a song.
Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/видео.html
5. Elan - (this is an extremely up beat high energy song that just leaves you feeling good). Again Wembley Arena is a great one to react to.
Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/XcwrwRKPaEg/видео.html
6. Alpenglow - (this is JUST a feel good song. And again, this was such a fun song in the Wembley Arena Show).
Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/FrJvKZNEh7g/видео.html
7. Nemo (Nemo is from a Latin word which means no one or nobody. It is about a time in Toumas life when he felt his direction in life was aimless, and without real direction. It’s an awesome song and a HUGE favorite of long time fans. This song was originally written during the Tarja Era).
Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/dR1gH5aQWBU/видео.html
8. Stargazers (this one is an OLD Nightwish song, and is sung almost entirely in an Operatic style, so if you wanna hear Floor sing Opera in a Metal song, this is the one to listen to. I would do this from the DECADES TOUR).
Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/NhEuAPYm_Ug/видео.html
9. Yours Is An Empty Hope (Maybe do this one from the Tampere Finland Show. Be prepared because behind Marcos vocals on the chorus, is Floor growling. You read it correctly, yes she really CAN do everything!!).
Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/XtXqUNB8zrU/видео.html
10. 10th Man Down (this is from the singers era, but Floor nails it perfectly.)
Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/Px1YJ0EdNAI/видео.html
11. Last Ride Of The Day - I would do this from the Wembley Arena Show . This song was the second to the last song for the Wembley Arena Show from the Vehicle Of Spirit Blu-ray/DVD. It is simply one kick ass song.
Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/CdfhJmkZRbU/видео.html
12. 7 Days To The Wolves - This is another kick ass song, and I would do this from the Wembley Arena Show.

Also The Islander - Live at Tampere really shows off Marko's singing ability if you wanna check that one out too~
I've added Alpenglow to the list! Every Nightwish song deserves to be checked out!

To get ready for Poet and the Pendulum check out a bit more from Tarja and maybe a few from Anette, to understand the change in the band that happened and to what the fans and media reacted to.
Then if you read about the open letter, media reaction (in Finland in particular) and Tuomas's interviews regarding the 2005 events and the album Dark Passion Play which all of those events lead into (where the Poet at the Pendulum is from)
I wanna do it all justice. Be assured that I will not takes this on lightly :)
My friend, you do a great windmill! The whole show would be great. It is wonderful beginning to end. Save PNP and TGSOE until a little later. They are both special and unique songs which require a little background to full appreciate at first listen. Love it Viking! 🎶🎶🎶🤘🤘🤘☝
That's the plan :). I want to respect all of your wishes and respect your advice. You guys know best!
Those songs you mentioned are indeed on my list to react to :).
we gonna finish it again fuck it now that is appreciation for good music subscribed
I know right! Just listen to it again and again and again :P
BIG FAN
Please don't excuse your talking trough it, that's the charme of it and your exitment is infectious. Amazing beard and lovely greetings from Germany.
Thank you kindly! And those apologies are more of a stop word now I guess. I am trying to leave them out but it happens :P Thanks for the compliment!
Yep, my Happy song since late 2011 :-D
So you are a happy Gate now?
@@VikingReacts Sure. As long as I get my daily dose of Nightwish and the new Therion and Epica I can stand Halsema cs 😀
Ouch :P. I need to find out real soon.... I think i'll check him out next friday
I copied this comment to my list of all songs to react to ;). Skål!
Zo blij dat je een nightwish Friday gaat doen!
Ik ook, er zijn zoveel verzoeken dat ik of een Nightwish only kanaal ben voor de eerste maanden... of ik besteed er een vaste dag aan :P
@@VikingReacts 😂
Awesome reaction, you crack me up every time. I agree with you jukka is super animated as fuck, jeez I miss jukka. Kai is awesome by his own right
I still love Jukka his style, more agressive and theatrical, he is still my favorit.
The Wembley version with lyrics is the one to look for🤘🏼
Thanks for this info... I am indeed starting to gather some info in preparation to this song. I want to do it justice...
@@VikingReacts Right! Btw notice the 'three minutes and counting...'!
Haha, love it mate.
Glad you enjoyed :)
