Same symptom here - penetrating oil and a little patience with the plugs out and it's back to running well - Thanks!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thank you!
Good to know. My old JD has similar symptoms. Thanks for the sharing!
Nice video man, had a similar thing happen to my mower. Cheap plastic drain plug developed a seep enough to run fairy dry. Wish I had seen this before pulling the engine apart.
Mine didn't last all that long after unfreezing it. I ended up replacing the motor anyway. But that gave me another opportunity to make a couple more videos.
Thanks loads. I had the same problem, oil drain loosened up and engine locked up.
Question: I followed your video... I can turn the flywheel but then it hits a spot where it gets stuck. Can't move it with my screwdriver past that spot, and about to try a crowbar for more leverage. Should I? Or is the engine a lost cause?
Probably a broken rod and time to swap the engine.
@@TwoKeysStudio I was afraid you would say that. I bought the lawn mower brand new 4 years ago and I can't believe it's given up. Always made sure I checked everything every year before running it.
The screwdriver worked after pb blaster and diesel fuel in cylinder for 2 days
Diesel fuel was a great idea!
Mine had a broken compression release on the camshaft but after replacing it the starter still can’t spin the motor, any ideas?
Will it spin by hand? If not, there is probably more internal damage.
Another thought. You may simply need to adjust the valves. When the valve lash gets to be to big, which happens a lot, the compression release mechanism will stay closed so the engine will not turn over. A quick check is to remove the plug and see if it spins correctly. If so, it is a valve issue. ruclips.net/video/97v0tNhyfpE/видео.html
These are notorious for hydrolocking. The needle valve and seat go bad causing fuel to get into the cylinder and crankcase. Take plug out and spin the engine to blow the fuel out. Reinstall plug and try to start. If it does, rebuild the carb or buy a new one. Install fuel shut-off valve to keep from happening again.
Mine spins a tiny bit then all the sudden it stops and it sounds like it's hitting something metal
That sounds like the rod may be broken.
@@TwoKeysStudio well shit lol. Gonna take it apart and dig into it. Just picked it up 3 hours ago since it was free so at least I'm not out anything LOL
Where did you borescope the engine at?
Mine ran fine last year after teplacing the starter motor, solemoid, and battery. Now the starter motor wont even engage.
I hate it when a needed tool isn't working. Check your cables, hopefully you just have a bad connection.
Get a battery hook the positive directly to the starter wire and the ground to any peice of metal on the mower. Should work
Was it hydrolocked from fuel passing the needle and seat?
No, it was oil starved from the drain plug coming loose.
