- It's October, so you know we're going to hit some horror films. First up this year: The Ring, a generally well-received flick about a ghost that makes a home movie... or something.
Thursday: Recent action sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins do YOU want to see recounted?

Hetro Sp3ktro this sums up CinemaSins for me. They are just joking, and most of the time the sins doesn’t make any sense. Still fun to watch though
It used to bother me that the film got sinned either way. Now I take it as a badge of honor that he needed to make stuff up to find sins.

I actually watched the original Japanese version, and my mom said that the blurred photos of the people’s faces is actually a cultural thing. If someone’s face is blurry in a photo, it means they are dead. So it’s basically a bad omen.
Thats intresting.
Someone's faces for the picture means they are dead so it's basically a bad man omen
But what they are NOT DEAD??
Now what? Most people in pics are living.

@@ronjohnson5248 it might be a foreshadowing thing where they’ll probably be dead later or smth
fun fact: Samara's actor is Lilo from Lilo & stitch & the girl from spirited away
I have this crack theory that Samara is Lilo but Nani died and she lost Stitch somehow. Her adoptive parents abuse and rename her so that's why her evil ghost is coming through t.v's, because she's searching for her family which is why she kills them, because they're not her family

"Well shit. we found these 2 people mangled in a car.

“Fuck. They died in a car. The car has been hit by a car. How did they die?”
These days, if you dump your motorcycle, get impaled by a stop sign and are decapitated they label it 'death by the coof'.

It probably meant that they couldn’t find a reason why the car crashed. Maybe no other cars or trees near by that collided into them. Idk if this makes sense xD but that’s what I took from it anyway
There should be about 100 sins on this just based off the fact that they hear that the girl on the tape kills you when you watch it so WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU WANT TO WATCH IT?!
Because people are understandably skeptical and think it's bullshit. Teenagers and children, man. Some adults too. I mean, _I_ wouldn't watch it because I'm gullible as hell and hate taking risks, but you know.

At 12:45, There is a point in the movie where they DO show the face of the dead guy sitting on the spinning chair. It's when they watch a video of the killer girl being interviewed. In the video, the guy says something like "You don't like to hurt anyone do you?" and then the girl says "But I do." Right when she says that, you'll see quick clips. The first one being the dead girl in the closet and the next one being the guy on the chair with his face in full view. Most people who watched the movie never caught it because his face didn't look as bad as the dead girl in the closet. My opinion :D
I caught it, he was effed up like the girl in the closet.
Minleyx1 in my cinematic analysis class we watched this movie and had to answer some questions. One of the questions was “we never see Noah die, but the movie implies it...blah blah” and I was like yeah we never see Noah die but we definitely saw his dead body so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just “implied”
And the way she answers “but I do...” in the same video is completely different than the way she answers it when Rachel views it at the Morgan house
@@nickcebalo2709 yeah. The first time, it seemed like she meant that she did it accidentally. Like “ but it happens anyway”. The other time, it seems like she answers his question by saying “ but I do” in a “ but I do like hurting people” way. If that makes sense. Sorry. English isn’t my first language. I’m Swedish 😅
@@dracomalfoy4679 yeah, it goes from "but i do hurt people" to "but i do like to"
The scene at 4:29 - I always saw Rachel deleting the message on her answering machine as her way of trying to save Noah from being affected by Samara's curse. Maybe she thinks that if you don't play it, then the curse can't fully affect you.
Good point
Scary Movie did such a funny take on that lmaoo
Say what you want about Samara being evil and all that but you can't deny she is one creative and hardworking ghost. Think about it, the Grudge? She just lies around her attic all day. Beetlejuice? Lazy and incompetent, can't take his job seriously for one second. And some ghosts (I'm not naming names) don't even know they're ghosts for fucks sake. But Samara is not only out there actively haunting people every day, she takes extra care to make sure each haunting is unique, and is always looking for exciting new ways to express herself through film and through murdering. Samara puts all of her creative energy into everything she does, so for her, sucking out someone's soul is not just a fun hobby. It's an art form.
CREEPY
Morgus Schmorgus no it’s a cry for literal help
dat ass is an artform
And at such a young age too! She’s just a little girl but has accomplished more than most of those other slacker ghosts twice her age. 👏 👏
Did I just read a yelp review about a fucking ghost?
I'll always remember in my junior year our school news made a joking video about how close prom was. He got a call saying he will die in 7 days and he asked to make it 8 because he graduates in 7 days and argued with the girl. He finally then said "Okay fine so what do you look like? If you're taking my life I wanna get to know you," and the phone went silent before just giving in saying you have 8 days and he hung up smiling like he just won a fight.
😂😂😂😂😂
Hahha
qeustion is did he live ? he probably did but yeah just curious
TL;DR Read the Ring Cycle books for the whole story.
They took quite a few liberties in the movies. In the book the reasons why become a lot clearer. Samara/Sadako was a strong psychic, stronger than her mother. When her mother got ridiculed at a demonstration with skeptics present, Samara killed them. Everyone believed the mother had. She was shunned and ended up jumping off a cliff with a single tree on it. (A scene from the original video where you see a woman jumping to her death).
Sadako was taken in by a doctor who studied the paranormal. He didn't treat her well. When he got scared of her powers and what she knew (she was abused by him if I remember correctly, she could end his career as a renowned doctor), he threw her in a well to perish and sealed it with a stone slab (the ring you see at the end). In the original you see what you initially think is a lunar eclipse, but it turns out to be the mouth of the well being sealed against a bright sunny sky.
In the video there are black frames in regular intervals, like a person blinking. Sadako didn't die, she survived in the well long enough to project what happened to her onto a video that was in a recorder in a cabin that was built above the well (a decade plus after). As she had been infected with a highly contagious virus during her abuse, she didn't only project her thoughts, but the virus as well. Hence the copy and spread the video bit.
The moving mirror between the mother and the empty room (Sadako as a child in the original) is a test of strength between the two psychics.
Sadako's anger grew with every day she lived in the well (over a decade's worth of burning fury). She decided to kill using her psychic powers as she had done before, to take revenge for what had been done to her. The projection is the manifestation of her psychic powers that escapes the video and climbs out of the TV.
Also in the original, only the phone in the cabin above the well rings. If the infected are not there to pick it up, they won't get the message.
The Ring is a trillogy and pretty bleak to be honest, with the video spreading at ever increasing speed all around the country as more and more are "infected". I can highly recommend the books, they really are incredibly well written and so much more detailed than the films.
It kind of would've been better if the ring was actually a solar eclipse imo. Although the covering of the well was ingenious.
This is so much better and scarier than the ring I like this thanks for sharing
Jeremy doesn't care about the books. His sins are based completely on the movies and the movies alone.

I remember when I worked in a psychiatric hospital in 2003 or so they actually showed this movie one night in the teenagers wing. As long as the movie was not rated R they were allowed to watch whatever they wanted for some reason. The nurse running the unit that night actually brought this movie in and let the teens watch this. The whole night the kids were freaking out, demanding to call their parents at odd hours, we had to restrain and sedate a few of them. The next day that policy changed, no more movies unless the director of the hospital saw them.
Damn...lol

I still posit that the answer to this problem is turning the TV off halfway through her crawling through it, or a large hammer. She's a single zombie ghost child. Find a large hammer at home depot, and ask a priest to wave a book at it while saying words.
I have heard that if you rewatch it after 6 days you can extend it back to 7. And that's how to live forever.
Earl of Destruction She's a small girl. Beat her with a hammer. I don't want to watch her stupid arthouse film every week for the rest of my life. Crack her ghost face open, and devour her magic. THAT'S how you life forever, AND ALSO FLY.
+Earl of Destruction Except that they did rewatch the tape in the film some times, it didn't extend anything. Nice idea though.
+SubAtomic ABomb Nah, the answer is to salt and burn her body. Works every time.

So if you watch the tape every day, you will live forever! :o
But if you think about it, Rachel had seen the tape multiple times while searching for an answer to the mystery, but the day countdown did not reset.
Dylan kalifa yeah that sounds about correct
In the japanese original if you did that the ending would extend itself (actually it happens in the remake as you can see samara's hand merging out)
so basically its samara/sadako slowly merging out of the well and bieng cut until the last day
I stop being scared of The Ring after realizing Japan made a Porno about this ghost and how she still have to go on haunting ppl by placing her video on the internet xD. A ghost still have to make a living by haunting. haha It was so funny.

Sarath Sok really??? What's the name, haha

Sana Khan I meant it in a joking way
I think I saw a Hentai like that.
Samara didn't 'create' the tape, the teenagers from the beginning did it by accident. They were trying to record a football game when they accidentally recorded on a barren frequency. Samara's body was directly beneath them when this happened (this was at the lodge) and she used that barren frequency to try and communicate with them. When the tape stopped recording it had recorded the images Samara would show people.
Yeah. It's clear the movie was going for that angle at the beginning (which matches both the original Japanese movie and the original novel it's based on), but later forgot about it, and went for the "she psychically burned the images onto the tape" angle as soon as Noah is shown the tape. Unless, of course, they are trying to say that recording a psychic TV signal would mess up the timer on the VHS which - it wouldn't happen (they definitely imply that when Rachel copies the tape and the gibberish timer is copied over). To the VCR, it would be a TV signal like any other.
“I don’t breed anymore.” - insert vasectomy humor. 😂😂😂😂

This is my way of watching horror movies I'm too scared to watch.
horror movies aren't even scary.
+swaggerlevel90001 to you...
exactly what I do
+Gabrielle Urbina I saw this in high school, I think I was 15, and it's the only horror film to ever shake me at my very core and leave me almost unbearably unnerved, so much so that even now at the age of 29 I occasionally still have nightmares about it, dead serious. I even got the spooks watching this. The only horror film that came somewhat close to giving me this much fear was Jacob's Ladder which, imo, is a better movie overall, though not quiiiiite as scary for me.
+Jordon Grubic Funny enough, I was about your age, and felt nothing from this movie. I just thought the tape was creepy. The only movie that had ever made him uncomftable, to the point I cant look at the screen in some parts is "Funny Games (2007)". I watched that as an adult, I had to take a moment after it was all done to flush the scary out my system.

I saw this movie while sitting in the front row of a packed theater. There wasn't an empty seat in there. The stranger next to me was so scared he was crying. We snuck in & saw 2 movies that night, The Ring and 8 Mile. 8 Mile was packed as well. My sister was sitting on her boyfriend's lap and I was sitting on the steps of the theater... good times lol
I remember my friend and I watching this and making a pact to call each other in seven days to make sure the other was okay. 😆 We were freaked out.
In the classroom, "I will use my walking feet" just means no running in the classroom, not that they can't sit down.
i thought it means they all had to use the force to levitate or something... ;)
Bonus round. Hollywood fucking copied the original Japanese movie. I'd add 9999999999 sins for that.
Usually the Japanese versions are 300% better... like for the grudge the American version couldn't compare... not sure about the ring though.. the Japanese version wasn't as good as the remake.. although qith the grudge movies they were way better in japanese.

Is this anyone else's favourite horror movie? I watched this when I was young and it left a mark on me.. even though it may not be critically acclaimed or w/e it's still my favourite... I don't think i've ever watched a horror movie which was so immersive and engrossing. And strangely beautiful (especially when she went to the island to investigate), and the cinematography and Zimmer's score was really haunting and evocative. Man I just love this film, it's not even horror anymore, it's just a really beautiful dark and melancholy experience.
This made me want to watch this movie again.
Time to Netflix and chill....
+FlashyNatsu Ofish Nah, do it with the girl from the tape.
Netflix and kill
+Luna Gillian Is this movie even on netflix? I haven't watched it since I watched the first 5 minutes when I was 5, started crying and ran out of the room, because my dad lied to me and told me it wasn't scary. XD
It's not on Netflix. I checked.
0 originality lol
I was obsessed with this movie when I was like 5 or 6 and watched it for about two solid weeks straight (shout out to my parents for their logical thinking) and then I had nightmares for a month and to this day I can't sleep alone without the TV on, and I'm 19. Funny thing is I think my brain repressed my memory of the film itself because I can barely remember anything about it other than the general premise.
fun fact: the actress who played the ghost also played lilo in most of the lilo and stitch francise.
except lilo and stitch 2 stitch has a glitch i think she was played by dakota fanning .
yes THAT dakota
Kaitlyn Axton ME TOO!!! Honestly, there are so many nightmares I’ve had from this movie. Great movie, nonetheless but I also watched it around 5-7 and I’m 19 as well
Kaitlyn Axton me too but then I had a bunch of nightmares
Same here. I'm 24 now but was 9-10 when I first saw it at my brother-in-law's house. Only saw it once, and not even the whole movie.. But I still remember having nightmares for months about the tape itself. The jar of toes, the empty room with the chair, shit like that.
I had like the same thing except I was 10 and i kept watching scp and reading about them. I was obsessed with it and every night for like 2 months i always thought about a scary scp
When she took of the phone ...it world be hilarious if they played : " *I just call - to say - I love you !* "
This movie had such a legendary reputation when I was younger
"Oh damn I forgot this kid existed.... just like his mom did " DAMMNNNNN THE SHAAADDDEEEE
Character in movie: roll credits
Cinemasins: The Ring?
*Ding*
Lmao so clever😂😂
Wow no ones replied to you
I don’t get it
@@sammey3998 Probably because Ring rhymes with Ding.
Samantha S when someone says the title of the movie Cinemasins usually says roll credits, but when the movie said roll credits he said the title lol
time stamp?
I watched both the ring movies when I was 10 and I think that started my love for horror movies, like it was the first horror movie I ever watched and I love it so much.
“Got hit over the head with a THING” hahaha that is hilarious. Am I the only one that caught that?
I only watch these bc I don't wanna watch the real movie 😂
Corny The Dog me to but weirdly my frends like spoilers
Corny The Dog Sameeeee
Corny The Dog me to lol I thought I was the only one
Same Here 😂
Same with me 😂
Kids: why the fuck do we even have them
Everyone was once a kid. Unless you came out as a 26 year old naked man.
And everyone will be a corpse one day. I dont wanna hang out with dead bodies. I assume you don't either. So what is your point?
LunarServant You better thank your lucky star that your parents had kids.
Waffelz Gurl look guys what i was trying to say is that in a lot of the movies i have seen, kids are either there to be a extra worry or a dik
i mean, we need someone normal
LunarServant kk XD I'm to surprised by the fact that u replied to me so quickly on a post from 3 months ago to argue with you
5:52 "Oh Lucky Star was third in 1966 (OR WHENEVER)." That one just killed me.
1:17 it says I will use my walking feet at all times which means they won’t run I had the same rule in all of my elementary days
Why does this movie have a blue filter over it? Like everything has a blue tint, it hurts my eyes...
I think it's green and it's probably to make us feel uneasy kinda like a gloomy feel to it
Agreed
That's how it's been graded and it's for dramatic affect to give it a dark and gloomy look
Obviously they're subliminally supporting Team Mystic. Biased as crap.
Blue tint? reminds me about the pictures taken for a legal dispute.
Hey look, this horror movie that everyone says is good that is actually pretty okay for once.
Also, "Mwuahaha?" I DIED.
I am not convinced that anyone can catch a fly that easily. No f*cking way
Lmfao at the "oh my god" edit when they show the editors note gag 😂😂
"No wonder he draws people buried in the ground all the time." lol
Is it really that scandalous for a mother to walk through her own apartment in underwear (not even naked) in front of her kid?
+keeponrockin Yes. It's inappropriate, and it sets a bad example. Children need to learn modesty. I think it's acceptable in some European countries, but in America where this takes place, it's highly discouraged. That's how I was raised, anyway.
+Kimi FW it's just funny how you mention America and "some European countries". And from that generalization you straight to "That's how I was raised" :) So no, it is indvidual, I have friends in US that it wasn't a big deal in their families and the same thing where I live and grew up in Europe. My family was a bit more strict but undewear doesn't seem to be something to fuss about really. :)
+keeponrockin Apparently it's the end of the world cause ya know, nudity is always bad no matter what. Oh gee Christianity...
+CowsBeFlyin Pretty sure Islam is more strict on it than Christianity...
Frisbee I am fairly certain CinemaSins are largely if not fully stationed in the US. The majority of the US is christian, thus, statistically validated conclusion, not saying you are wrong, just elaborating on my original comment. Clearing things up and all that.
It was the “run bitch” for me 😂😂
when i first started watching this i thought- wait why does this seem familiar about the phone the tape and the pillow fight also the weird kid and the teacher?
then i was like- .... OH WAIT SCARY MOVIE 3! they made the parody off of this! wow
This movie scared the hell out of me as a kid. Rewatching recently was kind of boring
the movie was never scary
Horror movies generally aren't scary anymore once your older than the age of 12
I saw it when it came out and I was in like jr high, well versed in horror movies, and I did think some parts were unsettling but it was never scary, grudge was a little bit creepier.
The dawn of the dead remake & 28 days later were the VIP's of that era, especially since I was already a Romero fan, but they did unintentionally start the zombie craze
Kasey Bunker says the one that probably piss themselves
i watched this when i was 10 thanks to my fucking older friends, and i was fucking traumatized dude, i couldn't sleep for weeks.
Watching this at 12:10 in the night
+Jan Moors its 4am here
+Jan Moors I'm lucky it's 4 pm here
+Jan Moors Good idea
bruh where
4 hours ago it was 6
My mom called Samara “Evil Baby Jessica” after she saw this film, so the clip playing “We’re Sending Our Love Love Down The Well” had me cracking up 😂.
I’d be that guy to be so petty about my fate I’d drive the tape around on a tv attached to a generator in a pick up truck and pay people to watch it.
"when the horse died it saw the ring" lol 😜😂😂
Claudia Laphos then my dog watched the tape 😢
Claudia Laphos but my dog really died but didn't watch the tape
Im pissed that the horse died
NORMIE DETECTED
Edgy_Teen _WithProblems me too
This movie fully fucked me for so long my sister made me/let me watch it when I was young (7 yrs) and I was too scared to even be in the bathroom by myself, I had the worst nightmares of the girl for so long, still haunts me a bit, 10 years later
The Creepsta ya i had nightmares for years
Captain SteveMC I'm sorry
Captain SteveMC Same with me and insidious.
My sister let me watch it when i was seven too, i had so many nightmares and like a month ago i got the same nightmare again for the first time in 6 years
Chuckie was the movie that most scared the shit out of me for some reason. Then Toy Story came out....lol
For those complaining about the length of the video, read the title...
Everything wrong with the Ring in 14 minutes or less!
Jeremy wrapped up the sins portion in 13:24, which IS less than 14 minutes; I'm giving sins to everyone who failed to notice this...*DING!*
To be fair, this is one of the only scary movies that is actually scary. The psychological terror is well done. An old George C Scott movie called The Changeling is like this one. I like the way the movie starts too, you get the impression it's some teen suspense shit, then the movie goes a long way to depict a person who is coming to terms with a reality that is beyond belief. They put real effort into writing real nightmare shit. The scene with the fly was really powerful, and then her reaction was genius! It remains one of my all time favorites.
