@@tannercook2059 nah. If criminals have it then you do need it unless you’re trying to be outgunned by a guy who didn’t pass high school and turned to life of victimizing people. Also what do they have that a law abiding citizen shouldn’t be allowed to own?
ya but IF we even get them back because it would have to go to the senate and there are so many liberal appointed ones they wouldn't allow that to happen
Agreed. I’m just starting to get into hunting, I think it would be much more practical to possess a hand gun for protection against bears or just using blanks as sound bangers. Hand guns give that extra versatility out in the field. A rifle alone is perfect for hunting, but not so great for protection
Also allowing suppressors would be great for hunting. I hear lost of hunters have a hard time finding a catch on open seasons, and a huge factor is the sound signalling wild game to flee. Certain areas have been so over hunted that the deer and elk know what’s up and they migrate elsewhere.
At the very least, merge the Prohibited and Registered categories into one. If I am trusted with a handgun it should not make any difference if the barrel is 3" long or 4.14"+ long!!
@2FLIPS3.5TWISTS That whole "Illegal gun" crap needs to end. Its that type of thinking that has this country in the mess its in. Firearms carry was legal upto 1965, I have seen the expired permits. Thompson SMG's were 100% legal pre 1980, now they're "Illegal" does that make them bad to own. Most won't know this, but downtown Toronto had two gun ranges, one at U of T and the other at Union Station, that one ran for over 60 years when they were shut down sometime in the 80's, and now its "illegal" to have a shooting range in the city. Not one person was ever injured at those gun ranges. If someone put two Glock 17's on the table could you tell the difference between a "Legal" and "illegal" one. See how stupid that is? Canadians are such government boot lickers, this is why things will never change.
I suspect so. Their continued prohibition is nothing but a pain point to an incoming CPC government, and if such a government *needs* to quash the rifle ban to avoid the legion of issues around the "buyback," re-legalizing handguns for licensed owners doesn't feel particularly risky, from a political perspective. TL;DR, there's more upside than downside for the CPC in doing so.
Removal of firearms carry in 1965 was the first sign, then the banning of full auto firearms in 1980. People let this happen. People need to remember, laws don't exist, they're made up rules by some psychopath to control you.
@@busajockey It's the HK33 for me. I'd get a FAL to have a FAL, but the HK guns just get me going on a really weird level. I feel like if I owned an HK33, I'd immediately be able to grow an 80s porno mustache.
When the conservatives get back in power, it would be nice to see that barrel length for NR reduced from 18.5" to 16" and get rid of mag limits. I can wish
I've got my fingers crossed for a simplified classification system. It makes fiscal and practical sense to make it a blanket rule; classify guns by overall length (I've heard 26" cited) and action.
99% of laws are stupid to begin with, they're just made up to steal your money. Can anyone name one law that isn't broken by someone? The majority of the laws are there to punish everyone, not to keep you safe.
In a way, that's exactly what the Liberals are counting on... getting us all lathered up by the next election, so that we appear to be the gun happy hillbillies that they've been telling the Easterners we are. Don't get me wrong - these are STUPID laws - because they are ineffective in solving the problem... the criminals. But that is also what the Liberal Party is counting on, it's simply a Wedge Issue for them.
Problem is they make it so you can only take your restricted guns to the range, makes it hard to explain away why they were in your canoe. But I’d actually throw my guns in the lake before I’d give them to the government
@@james3593 I just want to say if you have collectable guns or ones with a significant personal value to you (handed down, owned by deceased friend, etc) … hide them. If it comes down to facing gov’t enforced taking of your other (eg. replaceable) firearms: Don’t risk your life, don’t get into a shootout with law enforcement (even tho I KNOW most of you are more accurate than they are), let them go for now, and trust in the fact that we (Canadians) can and will fix this situation.
You did a good job explaining things in layman'sterms and not legalese, legislation is convoluted and intertwined. It's hard enough to get your own mind wrapped around Canadian firearms laws let alone explain them to others...thank you.
Fantastic informative video. Thank you. Seeing how well spoken and articulate you are, I believe you would be a true benefit to the CCFR team. Keep well and raise hell. Dave & The Girls.
Respectfully, we practice free speech because of the US Constitution, not in spite of it. That is the First Amendment. The Secend Amendment was adopted to provide "We the people," the means to uphold that right. It's a package deal; the Gov't may not infringe. These two amendments are tied together to enshrine the right of the Gov't to exist and operate by the people and for the people. We in Canada still have a ways to go. I'm not sure we will ever see that here, as these two amendments are greatly under attack in the US. The ideal of this type of Republic is fragile. Benjamin Franklin responded to the question, "What type of Gov't do we have?" ..." A Republic, if we can keep it." It is a high ideal with many pressures against it; to preserve it and to keep it. Our Dominian grants us many freedoms, which are subject to and are at the pleasure of our elected Gov't. The right of the Gov't is preserved over the privilege of the people to exist peacefully under rule. I question the continued existence of our privileges should these two amendments ever be struck down by our southern neighbor.
The second amendment breeds entitlement. We are not the united states, and the last thing we need need here mass paranoia in public like they have down there. What we need is a reasonable system that respects the very real danger of firearms, but also respects trusts trained and licensed individuals to own and use them. Ownership is a privilege here, and Canadians at large have not disrespected it.
the problem in this country regarding gun ownership is we have a national police force that is unelected and unaccountable that sets the rules governing what fire arms citizens can own..irregardless of the Fire arms act..until this banana republic police force is held accountable it doesnt matter what party is in power
Excellent explanation of the situation we face today. Very well summarized and presented. What a waste of money, time and resources….for politics. You just made me a new subscriber.
1. Do away with Concealment laws - You can put a firearm in anything and cops can only search you if they have probable cause; so the concealment thing is moot. 2. Strike down the handgun freeze aka: ban, and allow concealed carry - People can lawfully carry a handgun or other weapon for self defence ie; a vulnerable woman or trans person carrying pepper spray. 3. Pass a law that says the government isn't allowed to call a firearm anything than what the manufacturer has already named it: hunting rifle, sporting rifle, sport shooting rifle etc. As long as the law is on the books, it should - in spirit - prevent a government from calling them something they're not "assault rifle", "weapon of war" as a means to have them banned. 4. And FFS, get rid of the damn magazine cap of 5 rounds for rifles and 10 for handguns.
I really love your videos. They weave together your deep historical knowledge with deep political and practical insight as well. Thank you for the hard work you put into this!
Here’s the thing, who knows what laws we’re breaking until after the fact? There’s some really stupid laws in Canada that citizens don’t even know exist, till it’s too late. I’m all for deporting people for violent crimes- those are unmistakable.
Thank you very much for the thorough explanation. As a "Pro gun" but not a firearms owner, rather, an obscenely over taxed citizen, Knowing the details of the $ $ $ waist is eye opening. Again, Thank you.
Geography on a grand scale. And our well armed nieghbors. Unpapered long guns. Red faced handgun owners. Native hunters. Gun ban=Mission Impossible. Edit: How can anyone even suggest banning a bolt Mauser or the Ruger #1 single shot??
Fantastic video Daniel, clear and concise, 30 minutes of great analysis. I hope this video reaches the right people, not just preaching to the choir :) Thanks again and keep up! We need more people like you.
Thank you for providing so much detail. I can’t wait for conservative government to return to power. You’ve restored some of my hopes of holding on to my legally owned restricted firearms.
Yeah... after we Albertans paid off our debt, Ralph (Klein) put in a law that said the government could not run fiscal deficits again. That lasted until the next Premier. (I miss that man!)
I also hope Pierre gets parliament to pass a bill allowing financial compensation for any pistol owners who died and had their guns confiscated from their grieving family without any financial compensation. The amount of compensation should be the full replacement value for the exact model of pistol that was confiscated by the government after the pistol owner died. The default before the OIC was that deceased pistol owners could inheit their pistols down to their licensed children. The OIC unilaterally took that away resulting in uncompensated confiscation.
I used to have a mini 30 (7.62x39) with a synthetic folding stock, it looked like something out of a sci-fi movie. It always seemed odd that the 14 got so much more attention... I guess we can thank Mr. Lapine for that
I never paid much attention to politics growing up, and would've thought (from what I observed on a cursory level) that my leaning would've been towards the left, but as you grow up and live life in the real world, you realize what a poison that side is, totally deluded and living in some fantasy world where they think their actions/beliefs don't carry wider repercussions. And I'm certainly not far-right- at best, I'm right-leaning, but still prefer to remain neutral in such discussions among friends... Anyways, recently got my PAL after observing the wide-spread degradation of our great nations social and economical fabric, as well as the general state of the world- not to mention, I recently experienced a break-in while at home (thankfully, was able to scare them off just by yelling in a deep, assertive voice- police showed up within six minutes). I was so excited to get the license, which I'd been meaning to prior to the break-in, but am so sad by how restrictive our stupid government is, on a seemingly completely arbitrary level. It's funny you can get things like the Bren 2, APC 223/308, etc., etc., but no AR. No handguns is absurd, obviously. I'd really like to get an APC223, but worry that by the time I'd save up, that not long after it'd be banned.
I'm not a gun owner but I realize I MUST vote conservative to do my part to end this nonsense.

@@tannercook2059 nah. If criminals have it then you do need it unless you’re trying to be outgunned by a guy who didn’t pass high school and turned to life of victimizing people. Also what do they have that a law abiding citizen shouldn’t be allowed to own?
Excellent video, really appreciate the commentary and explanation of the nuances
Hand guns should be non restricted, all this red tape in owning a pistol is all bureaucratic bullshit
ya but IF we even get them back because it would have to go to the senate and there are so many liberal appointed ones they wouldn't allow that to happen
@@mrgoob76 I know, it's just a dream of mine
Thank you for your time Good Work
very informative and well put. yes it's complicated but comprehensible the way you explain it.
thank you for all your research into these facts.👍
Great video, thanks 🙏
Get rid of the Prohibited and Restricted classifications!
You will not likely ever see automatic firearms legalized in Canada.
and legalize carry
At the very least, merge the Prohibited and Registered categories into one. If I am trusted with a handgun it should not make any difference if the barrel is 3" long or 4.14"+ long!!
Then we need to get rid of c68
Unicorns for everyone!
Great video. Appreciate all your thoughts!
Come down here to Texas, we'll take yall with open arms as political refuges.
"You may all go to he'll, and I will go to Texas"
-Davy Crockett
Great video. Make sure everyone vote CONSERVATIVE. We need to wake up people!!
Every gun owner must vote conservative.
YES YES AND YES
@2FLIPS3.5TWISTS thank you
@2FLIPS3.5TWISTS I PERSONALLY THANK YOU
@2FLIPS3.5TWISTS That whole "Illegal gun" crap needs to end.
Yes
Very informative history on the subject in our country and every citizen should take notes ,thankyou
Will we get those handguns back?
I suspect so. Their continued prohibition is nothing but a pain point to an incoming CPC government, and if such a government *needs* to quash the rifle ban to avoid the legion of issues around the "buyback," re-legalizing handguns for licensed owners doesn't feel particularly risky, from a political perspective. TL;DR, there's more upside than downside for the CPC in doing so.
Excellent video, thanks for taking the time to make it.
I enjoyed the dig at the flip-flopping Erin O'Tool.
Ruger 10-22 mag [ over ten ] was the canary in the coal mine . Bring these back first please .
Removal of firearms carry in 1965 was the first sign, then the banning of full auto firearms in 1980. People let this happen. People need to remember, laws don't exist, they're made up rules by some psychopath to control you.
Fuck that, scrap the Firearms Act and give us back our fucking FALs and HK patterns.
@@phuckayumang2381 Would love a FAL .
@@busajockey It's the HK33 for me. I'd get a FAL to have a FAL, but the HK guns just get me going on a really weird level. I feel like if I owned an HK33, I'd immediately be able to grow an 80s porno mustache.
@@phuckayumang2381 never really looked at the HK33 really but just watched a few vids and now I want to grow a 80s porno stash too lolol . cheers .
you are very good at speaking and this video is an excellent explanation as to what is going on in Canada. Thank you.
Canadian have a right to protect canada.
Could have fooled me, Canadians have a right to be a victim of Canada.
We have a duty to protect ourselves, and that is nobody's business!!!!!
As always, you knocked it out of the park. Thank you for the videos, articles, and general awareness.
Miss your videos ! And your insight , thanks for posting.
Great video man, Thanks for the info! Gives me hope.
And thank you for the compliment! I see a lot of reasons to be optimistic, as a gun owner.
@@calibremag that would be cutting it close for a few rifles.
@@ddawg6969so is 4" vs 4 1/4" for handguns, but not to worry no criminal understands how a hacksaw works
OH MY GOODNESS I WOULD BE HAPPIER THAN A PIG IN MUD 😊
What you said 👍
We really appreciate you making this video
Tighten up our borders to control illegal guns, leave us licensed ,law abiding citizens alone ! ( listen to us Prime Minister Poilevere !)
Wow, so much information in one short video.
Thank you!!
Conservatives have said they will repeal all the stupid laws
99% of laws are stupid to begin with, they're just made up to steal your money. Can anyone name one law that isn't broken by someone? The majority of the laws are there to punish everyone, not to keep you safe.
we need American style gun laws but Pierre has no balls@@D33Lux
All the stupid laws ? The Criminal Code of Canada and the tax codes are REALLY thick books ! lol
I hope that that includes 12(6), which made 25ACP derringers prohibited.
Outstanding analysis and presentation. Thank you!
Yes sir. I always thought our geography makes this ludicrous idea virtually impossible. Especially with America literally nearby.
Thank you for this vid clear ,to the point with a glimmer of hope.
It was a hell of a day when my boat sunk with my treasured firearms on board. Thank god I was able to make it to shore .
I see what you did there... and I like it.
It's been a rough 5 years for boating accidents... 3D printer sales are through the roof though. ;)
This guy is amazing at explaining everything !!!!! First time seeing this channel! Immediately subbing and sending this vid to everyone I kno
Thanks
You did a good job explaining things in layman'sterms and not legalese, legislation is convoluted and intertwined. It's hard enough to get your own mind wrapped around Canadian firearms laws let alone explain them to others...thank you.
Fantastic informative video. Thank you. Seeing how well spoken and articulate you are, I believe you would be a true benefit to the CCFR team. Keep well and raise hell. Dave & The Girls.
WHAT A WASTE OF TAX PAYERS MONEY!!! We need a second amendment!!
No, we don’t. We just need a competent government that doesn’t enact useless and pointless measures.
@@barrittstephen2169If the 2nd Amendment gets struck down, you willl just have a civil war. There are more guns in the US than there are civilians.
We need a first amendment so the second has a peaceful alternative to uphold.
Well done
the problem in this country regarding gun ownership is we have a national police force that is unelected and unaccountable that sets the rules governing what fire arms citizens can own..irregardless of the Fire arms act..until this banana republic police force is held accountable it doesnt matter what party is in power
Police don’t make laws, you don’t make much sense
The RCMP do not make the law, Politicians and Lawyers make the Laws (That is the Problem). The RCMP Enforce the Laws.
This was very informative, thanks for putting in the effort to make it for all of us.
Not giving up anything !!!
I agree, trans people should be able to defend themselves how they see fit
good luck with a handgun carry law lol
This is a great wish list - I'd be happy to reverse the hand gun freeze and long gun bans for a start and go from there!
Great breakdown of our current situation. Thank you
I really love your videos. They weave together your deep historical knowledge with deep political and practical insight as well. Thank you for the hard work you put into this!

Thank You for the great vid . A long gun owner 🇨🇦
Put that buy back budget into border security and criminal charges and Keep CRIMINALs IN JAIL... OR DEPORT‼️
Here’s the thing, who knows what laws we’re breaking until after the fact? There’s some really stupid laws in Canada that citizens don’t even know exist, till it’s too late.
I’m all for deporting people for violent crimes- those are unmistakable.
very well put, well researched and completely agree with you

Thank you very much for the thorough explanation. As a "Pro gun" but not a firearms owner, rather, an obscenely over taxed citizen, Knowing the details of the $ $ $ waist is eye opening. Again, Thank you.
5 million on 30 people sitting in office doing fuck all !! lol
Thank you for this video. It was very informative
You are so welcome!
Thank you for providing so much detail. I can’t wait for conservative government to return to power. You’ve restored some of my hopes of holding on to my legally owned restricted firearms.
Electing the CPC is only half of the battle.
I will believe that when I see it!👨🏿🎤🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊
With a majority, I hope we can put in protections so we don't have to worry about this crap every election change.
Conservatives won't
No one really can. Which, gun owners should be pretty happy for, given where we'd be if Trudeau could make irreversible changes...
Yeah... after we Albertans paid off our debt, Ralph (Klein) put in a law that said the government could not run fiscal deficits again. That lasted until the next Premier. (I miss that man!)

@calibremag anytime, my fellow Canadian friend. I support all youtubers, especially Canadian and USA. Thank you for this video.
I'd like the hand gun freeze removed its 100% Unfair and makes zero sense regarding public safety
Amazing analysis and delivery. Thank you! ❤
Good. Thanks.
Than you very much. Aprecheated.
Mini 14 is the gun I really regret selling. Got it for 600 bucks brand new too!
Ooooooof. Yeah - sometimes I think about the VZ58 I sold for about that. Regrets, I have a few!
I used to have a mini 30 (7.62x39) with a synthetic folding stock, it looked like something out of a sci-fi movie. It always seemed odd that the 14 got so much more attention... I guess we can thank Mr. Lapine for that
Great explanations! Thank you
I never paid much attention to politics growing up, and would've thought (from what I observed on a cursory level) that my leaning would've been towards the left, but as you grow up and live life in the real world, you realize what a poison that side is, totally deluded and living in some fantasy world where they think their actions/beliefs don't carry wider repercussions. I'd really like to get an APC223, but worry that by the time I'd save up, that not long after it'd be banned.
very good info, well explained and comprehended on my part. thank you
