It is also the only alternative ar cartridge that only requires a barrel swap, and nothing else. It is a versatile round, but 300 yards is its max effective range unless you are used to operating a howitzer. You’re basically right. Once a bullet is shot it’ll start dropping, and the zero is basically at what distance the reticle lines up with that drop. If your zero is 100 yards, and you aim at the direct center of the target at 100 yards your bullet will hit the center (if there is no wind). Same as if you were zeroed at 300 yards, aim direct center, you hit direct center if your target is 300 yards away. As such if you have a 100 yard zero but are shooting at 300 yards it’ll drop 20 inches and you need to aim 20 inches high.

Is it where the bullet is at it's most accurate on the scope from a distance?
You’re basically right. Once a bullet is shot it’ll start dropping, and the zero is basically at what distance the reticle lines up with that drop. If your zero is 100 yards, and you aim at the direct center of the target at 100 yards your bullet will hit the center (if there is no wind). Same as if you were zeroed at 300 yards, aim direct center, you hit direct center if your target is 300 yards away. As such if you have a 100 yard zero but are shooting at 300 yards it’ll drop 20 inches and you need to aim 20 inches high.

.270 and .308 ammo with money and glad I did that. With Russian ammunition gone that put a huge strain on the market.
O Wow... You mean a .417BC BTSP is better in the wind then Flat Nose bullet??..
Ok Ron even though I like the little round that could I have to question your data. You’re showing a 150 grain 300 blackout moving at 2100 fps and any factory ammunition that I can find is going 1950 fps at best. Now according to the Hornady loading manual you can push a 150 grain pill 2050 fps with accurate 1680 thats close but still no cigar can you please tell us what ammunition you are referring to for your tale of the tape? I know most certainly that its not the Nosler Varmageddon you had on your desk thats my choice for home defense and it will hit 2100fps but its a 110 grain pill. The devil is in the details
Tale of the tape? The scotch tape you use to hold on that cookie duster you call a moosetash.
Meh it's about the same as 7.62x 39mm . Neither have room to catch up in the Eastern whitetail woods. Good Bullet choice and shot placement however make It more than able to drop your venison supper.
Powder charge? Are you promoting the 300 for some reason?
I don't see either one being a 300 yarder.
your comparing ammo from the early 1800s vs ammo from the 2000s
I'd love to see you compare .300 HAM'R to the good ol 30-30, Mr. Spomer. The speed of the bullet of the HAM'R is the same you get from a 30-30. I've heard of some folks saying that it doesn't do much of anything. I tell them to remember that the .300 is using high BC bullets which buck the wind better and allow more kinetic energy on target. 30-30 will drop anything in North America within 100 yards or so the old saying goes. Can the same be said for the .300 HAM'R since it's traveling at the same velocities?? There's only one man I know who can find out in detail, and it's you boss.
I have both of these rounds at 300yrd I’ll take iron sight 30-30 all day
I live in Montana and really just use 2 guns 30/06 and 30-30 but I have always killed my elk with a 30-30 haha I’m out hunting for deer and see a elk well got to work with it but yea 200 yard with the 3030 is no problem I have a awesome scope and am zeroed at 100.. 250 I just hame a soda can up and boom I use 170 g btw
Ha. Shooting a 30 30 or blackout at 300 yards what a joke.
I’ve shot 22lr at 200 yards, just because it’s not easy doesn’t mean it’s impossible or even that hard with practice, hell guys with bows are making 200 yard shots
@@imperialwhovian3461 In the video I see a comparison between the newer blackout and old standard 30 30 regarding their use in big game or deer hunting. Shoot them at whatever yardage you feel comfortable with but I would certainly not use them to harvest a deer over 100 to 200 yards. Due to the comparable low energy and terrible drop and wind deflection of these two cartridges
I'll keep my 30-30 to 200 yards, thank you.
I had to listen to this too many times, because I SWEAR Tom Selleck is seriously trying to embody this guy as his character type!!!!
Hmmm guess ill save my 300blk bbl
So 300 Blackout is basically 30-30 win.. LoL 🤣
35 Remington puts them both to shame
The .350 legend is far better than the .300 blk for deer 🦌 if you must have an AR 15 platform
Lol
@@RepublicofTX so don't you agree with that?? or are you one of those who think the .300 blk is superior to ANY known round that exist today?? including the.50 BMG!!
@@Sarge2112 did I say that? I’m laughing at your choice of cartridge over anything else. I would never even buy a 350 legend, why? I don’t have gay, straight wall cartridge laws in my beautiful state. Even if I did buy a gun in that pointless round (it’s absolutely pointless in my state) and I had to choose between it or my 300 blk. I would 1000% grab my 300 blk, simply because it’s one of the quietest rounds through suppressors, and I run suppressed on all my guns. I also only grab that 300 blk for hunting my 100 yard blinds on my property behind my house. When I go to my ranch, I’m grabbing either my .308 or 6.5 creed so I can put shots on game and feel comfortable out to 600-800 yards. If I really wanna go big and take 1,000 yard shots at my ranch (we do all the time) then I’m grabbing that 6.5x284 Norma 💪. I’m in Texas ole son, we have big fucking ranches around here and that 350 legend ain’t shit in the mountains. You’ll be beer bitch if you bring that hunk of shit out to the ranch.
@@RepublicofTX well everything is bigger in Texas like you don't have a use for .350 legend I don't see any use for a .300 BLK I don't own either but here in Kentucky in the woods you'll be lucky to get a shot longer than 150 yds that's why I said the .350 is superior to the.300 BLK in the woods and I gotta ask why you a suppressor fan? Don't see the need for it especially at the price they cost tax stamp and permission bullshit besides that I love to hear weapons discharge it's the sound of freedom let it BOOM 💥💥💥 would love to come to Texas and shoot pigs from a helicopter 🚁 I'd bring my beloved FAL for that but never ever ever with a suppressor it takes half the fun out of shooting without the boom c'mon that's a rush hearing them BOOM why muffler it??
I think we're talking long range shooting with a low velocity round, or we're talking about the rifle platforms available in 300blk. The 30/30 is a simply a more powerful round and better for general hunting.
The 300blk was designed for subsonic use with heavy bullets.
It's all down to the .300blk's superior BC.
35rem
Isn't 7.62/39 closely match to 300 BO? Just wanna throw a curve ball... Lol
This shit is like brain food. Allot of good information here.
I still favor a 7.62x39 over the .300AAC, it is ballistically superior, and extremely common
300 hamr is even more ballistically superior over x39
@@rboyett I’ll grant you that, but for me, I prefer a balance of cartridge commonality with power. I.E., choosing a .308 over say .300 Savage, .45 ACP vs .45 GAP, 9mm vs .357 SIG. But that’s my personal philosophy. I have a hard enough time trying to find .303 Brit😂
Make mine a 30-30
100 fps is how superior dr fan boy they will perform similarly when the bullet weight is the same and I assure you that your target isn’t going to know the difference.
@@1metalg0d So where’s the cutoff line when “the target isn’t going to know the difference” ?
200 fps? 300fps? Thing is stuff like that does make a difference.. maybe not most of the time but some of the time that little bit extra can make the difference.
Killed a big herd bull this season with 300 black at 210 yards he only ran 20 feet then dropped
What I find fascinating is the cartridges developed 50-100 years ago are the benchmark of todays new cartridges. Nothing really revolutionary to date. Although I believe the 6.5 C design is going to make some changes when those brainy engineer types start saying howzabout we do this...
The 7.62x54r is over 120 years old and Russia still uses it. Wild
They don't look like much but pack as big a punch as MMA fighter khabib😂
Handload 30-30. Use 140 hpbt 30-06 bullets . Single shoot them. Blow 300 crackout out of the water. Btw 30-30 is over 100 years old. 300blk is a joke 🤣
🐉🐺🐉🇺🇸🌟🌟🌟🇺🇸
Why do I want to show this video to every European I know?
I like your videos but these shorts are the same but just pieces of the original. Kind of sucks when I'm expecting something new
“No way this little guy can keep up” HEHEHEHE
300 Blackout is a absolute useless round..
Is a little bit of funny business going on here you got a better BC bullet on one and I have a 30-30 and then it shoots a little faster than that more like $2,500 feet per second to 2700 ft per second take your numbers are way off
"Theres no way this little guy can keep up" thats what she said.
18 inch drop at 300 🤣
