Captain Trapp is a Musician’s musician; it’s not about categorizing, it’s about playing the right notes and leaving the mental labeling somewhere else.
The lick you did while you were just messing around at 14:38, it’s so freaking slick man! This is the kind of stuff I come to you for, and you never cease to deliver!

Man I started playing on the shoulder of a Fender Heavy or Ultex 1.0 MM pick like this fine gent about 6 months ago after learning he does it, and holy hell is playing a lot easier, sounding better and just smoother. Wish I would’ve made the switch years ago

Buy a freak of nature I became telephone friends with Danny Gatton years ago he had just gotten off the phone with a major artist star. (If you had the pleasure of knowing Danny, he was a very straightforward, honest person. Danny was quite despondent, because Star wanted Danny and his band to open up for him. The money offered wouldn’t even cover bus fuel. Danny had to say no even though he really needed the work. Yes, he told me the name of the Star. Yes you would know who it is. Yes his band had tons of radio play and record sales. It appears at times musicians take advantage of other musicians.
    Just an FYI
Thank You for your dedication, time and talent.
I question if many people have any idea of the time it takes to master all aspects of music.

It was fantastic seeing you at the Underdog last Monday. And I feel mighty fine gettin' my first RUclips shout out from none other than your esteemed self. You really blew my mind that night and by pure osmosis, and now these lessons....., my playing is getting instantly better. Great big Gracias, brother, for taking us on that fabulous ride to Edge City. I'll see you back in East Nashville again soon.

Hey GT, Thanks for sharing the info about your "streams of revenue." It's really helpful for musicians to know it's important to work on all levels and utilize every means available to those of us trying to make a living out of this thing! Great lesson here, btw. One of my weakest points in this process is knowing how to grab the right scale shape at the right position. Oddly, I can play all over the neck no problem, it's getting the shapes and scales to marry each other - sometimes it's like a shotgun wedding! 😅

Love your tips/lesson Guthrie! But, you are leaving out one thing. You are a hell of a player and most of us living room/bedroom players can only dream of approaching your knowledge and ability with the guitar. But speaking for myself, I will not stop trying to improve my playing, dream or not. Bottom line for me is having fun playing the guitar and interacting with such great players as yourself. Hopefully, one day I'll make my way to the Underdog to see you play. Cheers!

Dude, you are very honest. Promoting the hell out of the services you offer, and then capping off the marketing pitch by mentioning the thing you hope to avoid while you make a living for yourself. "Going on the road with some shitty country that you hate hanging out with". We all gotta eat brother, you are doing a nice job of being real about it.
