miguel when i was young my father died at age 48 and when i played this album by Yes he hated it and did'nt understand why i listen to this music . He was a beautiful human being its somtimes the way i feel about some music today. this video blowes me away. how you play the bass is a gift from God. not to interject God into your talent if you don't believe. i love music drohegda.
Not only great playing, but outstanding attention to detail on how this song was orchestrated. You sir, are a diamond in the rough. You may never be discovered, but you have what it takes. The most popular musicians are not always the best musicians. You go beyond playing, you LISTEN to the music. ....OUTSTANDING JOB!
Hi Miguel. You've blown me away. My buddy had a Rickenbacker in '76. I saw an interview of Chris Squire dated about 2009. I hope he's still ok. I want him to visit me in Melbourne Australia. I'll cook for him and there's a whole bunch of bars and venues where I live. The people here would love him to bits. And you too.
But seriously too - I hope you do post it because I think what counts is that you love what you're doing and share it with us - None of us is Chris but our statements of appreciation for his music should be spoken out! Pass the message!
I really wasn't aware this song was a hit for Yes in the first place. What HIT me was the bass playing, and in this sense, it turned me into Yes. I am sure I wasn't the only one. Thanks for watching!
Hi Robert. I got it from ebay. She's a 1978 beauty. I figured you would find it amusing - me on a 6-string :))) Somehow I manage to fit my fingers there, I am used to so much space :)) Thanks as always for being here and wish you all good inspiration for your next clips!
My life was also changed by Mr. Squire. My first Ric was a 4001 bought in '74. (year I graduated HS) You playing is dead on and thanks for the additional bass lines. I always knew there was something much more going on. I don't know if you are aware of a band named "Starcastle", but if not, go to you tube and enter "lady of the Lake", by them. I met Gary (bassist) in the late 80's. Incredible bassist and a dedicated Ric player.!
omg.... amazing....i am still blown away.... like Steve Harris said, Rick Squire is the best Bass Player EVER!!! my congratulations: you did a really great job!!!!!
Really impressive ! I'm not a bass player, but I recognize your talent, thank you ! And this is a great song ! :D And RIP Chris Squire, one of the most greatest bass player, as for me of course...
Great job man. You trurely due him honor. I've been a huge fan of YES since 1971. They changed my life as a musician and as a person. I've seen every tour since 72. The biggest impression the first time here in NYC was Squier. They were all great but he was exceptional. GOD Bless YES!
Amazing how you're able to mimic the bass in the song perfectly, one of the hardest songs to play on bass and it seems you mastered it, amazing skills.
Holy shit! Excellent bass playing! I have to say that this is the best bass cover I have seen in years...honestly. Your attack on the bass is 100% dead on! Simply awesome!!!!!
Thank you very much! I think the sound quality deserved better though, but that's how YT deals with audio right now. Actually as I write this, it became worse. Thanks again for being here!
Miguel, you look like you're having fun on this classic tune. Roundabout turned me on to Yes at the time it came out. The bass was unlike anything I had ever heard before. Clearly, one of the reasons why Yes music is among the most sophisticated in pop music.
I've played this video a few dozen times. Usually I get carried away listening but this time I paid attention from 8:02 on and saw how much thought you put into shooting this video. To be able to do those 3 tracks on bass and then look at the camera on cue for the final notes is really impressive. Bravo Miguel !!!
The best bass cover for Roundabout I have seen on youtube. It's obvious you put a lot of effort into it. Sound quality is awesome and the informational bits are good as well. Thanks for an awesome video.
We tried to play this song for our high school talent show (when this was still a new song) but we wound up aiming a little lower! Man, you got this sound down sooooo good!
Brilliant!!! My favorite bass line(s) of all time. Back then I wanted a Ric so bad but due to parental control and input from a friend of my Dad's, I ended up with a P-Bass.
@miguelbass I don´t miss nothing in this piece of art. Roundabout has everything a song should have. Harmonies, rythm, great performance, great vocals, great instrument solos. Fragile is a great rock album, from the individual solos(principally Mood for a day and The fish) to the great epics (South side, long distance, and Heart of the sunrise). For me is with Close to the edge, the pinnacle in Yes career and one of the most talented lineups in rock history.
No one could rock this song like Rick Fuller (d. 5/96) back in the day, (right-handed but playing with left hand) - hestill sends this one out to the universe quite ethereally and sweet; I miss him, specially the last part..
You already know you're an amazing bass player, but i love this song so much, and your cover is so superior to any other attempt i've heard yet, that i figured its worth adding ONE more compliment to your clip.
My idea was to make a big mix of Fragile basslines in that spot but then to transpose them all to E... didn't work for me, so I stuck with some of The Fish's and decided to make a bit of fun in the end :) Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it.
Hi - There are two basslines going on but just at the middle section of the song. The way it was originally mixed - the secondary bassline is not very audible, just at the end, on the higher register. Live, Chris plays something from both lines.
well...I've been playing a bit longer than that guy.But I can honestly say that you are a great bassist. We can always learn from and be inspired by others.I am lucky enough to have just done both and I can't thank you enough! Yes is the soundtrack of my life basically!
Good sir, As an aspiring bass player and loyal disciple of Squire's bass playing from 69-80, I must say BRAVO to your exemplary work here. Are you in a Yes cover band? If not, you should be!
Your face really shows in this clip what an absolute blast it must be to play this! Chris had a quantum leap in Roundabout in scales, tone, the odd little one and two note hooks and transitions, all the things that would characterize his sound from then on. Miguel, as always a great lesson and example of how it's done!
Glad you enjoyed it, Wes. I tried to add a little extra-work for the video result, so I learned this PiP trick on-the-fly really! It was a really cool thing to do. Oh yes, and "The Fish" wink ;) Thanks!
You're an incredibly talented musician. Just got an original rick myself, trying to master those Yes songs I've always loved. There is no bassist better than Squire :)
I have combed over a few of these cover videos and Miguel I have to admit yours is the best. Hands down, there are some other great covers, but I have to say to me yours is the best I have witnessed. Nice job man, great stuff.
You are honestly one of the best things that I have seen on RUclips. Such clarity in your playing. I haven't played bass in some time (I own a Ric 4003) but you have inspired me to get some playing in. Good job!:-D
Thank you very much for this important contribution to more appreciate this piece of musical art. It´s remarkable your dedication and generous initiative. I will keep a copy of this video to share with my friends and gransons in order that know how real music was made in the 70´s. Thanks again.
You are very kind!! Yes, you guessed - that was a wink to that classic Ram videoclip. It really wasn't planned, it came to me as I was doing it :) Thank you very much for your words.
Ok...one of the best openning songs of any rock act ever...probably not the most complex bassline , but the way it moves like a snake supporting the whole orchestra( Yes , Yes is an orchestra) is unbeatable....kuddos!!
This has got to be, hands down, the best cover of Roundabout in the whole Internet. Hats off, Miguel. What a tribute.
Thanks again. Luis! All the best to you!
Did the great man justice , superb cover
Hey, I saw Yes too last December! Hope you had a great time! Thanks for watching my clip.
Yes, I got my bass certificate signed by him. That was really nice of Chris :)
a new Rick !! Time to start Yes-jamming!! Thank you for watching!
I feel that I have a personal connection with it, glad that it shows. Fragile is a very special work-of-art.
miguel when i was young my father died at age 48 and when i played this album by Yes he hated it and did'nt understand why i listen to this music . Thank you for your very kind words! It makes me happy to know you enjoyed the videos. All the best.
I was sure I wasn't alone :) Thanks for coming by!
I love bass players... They have so much groove and funk.
Thanks for watching, and for the compliment :) All the best
+missmya3972 Not quite sure if let's say Iron Maiden's Steve Harris has a lot of "funk" :0)
+missmya3972 We wish there were more girls like you who think that same way.
missmya3972 on a different note, where was your profile photo header taken? Hawaii? Looks beautiful
The way Chris makes it less busy to privilege Wakeman's keyboard solo is wonderfully respectfully. (5:50)
indeed - the space between the notes!
You nailed it! As a fellow Rickenbacker player, my fondest memories are of playing Roundabout over and over until I drove everyone nuts. Well done.
Again, Thank you very much for watching and for your enthusiasm about my work!
Hey, thanks for watching!
The groove of the song is so contagiously cool... maybe I caught it :) Glad you enjoyed it, my friend. Thanks
Completely mesmerized. Just watching how the fingers make the sound happen. I love it.
+EE Mazmo Thank you!
chris squire was such a incredible bassist
Thank you very much for watching!
Hi Marisa, it's pretty complex to start with. It gets easier after many years listening to it, the bassline starts to reside in my brain :))
That was FREAKING EXCELLENT !!!!
Hi Robert. I got it from ebay. She's a 1978 beauty. I figured you would find it amusing - me on a 6-string :))) Somehow I manage to fit my fingers there, I am used to so much space :)) Thanks as always for being here and wish you all good inspiration for your next clips!
So sad today Miguel. Been thinking too about how you must also be feeling. RIP Chris Squire.
+maccafan10 Thank you. Sorry for the late reply here. We still miss him and so we will....

Grazie :) Let me know when you'll upload, you did a great job with GG!
omg.... amazing....i am still blown away.... like Steve Harris said, Rick Squire is the best Bass Player EVER!!!
my congratulations: you did a really great job!!!!!
This is the best cover I have seen ever. You are a pro! Very informative and entertaining. Thanks much.
Hard to chose among so many Chris' basslines! But seriously I agree with you that this one has put a stamp in Music history (Rock at least). Thanks
Really impressive ! I'm not a bass player, but I recognize your talent, thank you !
And this is a great song ! :D
And RIP Chris Squire, one of the most greatest bass player, as for me of course...
+Daust YTP thank you very much!

Very professional and
accurate playing.
Very inspiring stream.
And you look very cool,too.
My pleasure.. glad you liked it! Thanks.
Amazing how you're able to mimic the bass in the song perfectly, one of the hardest songs to play on bass and it seems you mastered it, amazing skills.
Thank you very much! Merry Xmas

My thoughts!
Holy shit! Excellent bass playing! I have to say that this is the best bass cover I have seen in years...honestly. Your attack on the bass is 100% dead on! Simply awesome!!!!!
Great job, I never realised the additional bass lines were there. As for me, I was released just one day before Fragile!
Thank you very much :)
We're close on birth date then ;)
Thank you very much for the re-visit :)
to be continued
for sure! Thanks for watching!
I hope I didn't miss by many, but yes that was the purpose :)) Happy to know you liked it - thanks.
Thank you very much! I think the sound quality deserved better though, but that's how YT deals with audio right now. Actually as I write this, it became worse. Thanks again for being here!

Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it too!
The best bass cover for Roundabout I have seen on youtube. It's obvious you put a lot of effort into it. Sound quality is awesome and the informational bits are good as well. Thanks for an awesome video.
Your tone is almost identical to Squire's, it's simply insane. Bravo!!
You really do shine while playing this song. Now that's the power of music right there.
Shine on brother!
Bravo. Chris Squire es único.
YES has been my favorite band since 1974.
those were brand new roundwound strings , gauge 45-105. Treble pickup only with 100% volume and tone, IIRC. Welcome!
We tried to play this song for our high school talent show (when this was still a new song) but we wound up aiming a little lower! Man, you got this sound down sooooo good!
Hello, I do try with all my Heart. Thank you for your words, and I will be posting more of my music meanwhile. Thanks!
No doubt, on of Wakey's most shining moments!
Brilliant!!! My favorite bass line(s) of all time. Back then I wanted a Ric so bad but due to parental control and input from a friend of my Dad's, I ended up with a P-Bass.

You already know you're an amazing bass player, but i love this song so much, and your cover is so superior to any other attempt i've heard yet, that i figured its worth adding ONE more compliment to your clip.
I LOVE Chris Squires bass tone! Very well done sir!

Incredible.......
+Gary Wilson Thank you very much Gary. Greetings.
Thank you very much. I do remember, but after years of listening, fortunately some of the passages are easier to extract. Glad you enjoy it!
That has to be a unique experience at that stage of their carreer! Thank you very much for your words about my work.
Muchas gracias Roberto por tus comentários. Saludos.
Thanks for watching, Helen.
well...I've been playing a bit longer than that guy.But I can honestly say that you are a great bassist. We can always learn from and be inspired by others.I am lucky enough to have just done both and I can't thank you enough! Yes is the soundtrack of my life basically!
i've watched this video at least 100x in the last 6mos. dude...you're insane!
Yes, cookie he does! Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much, Phil. Welcome back!
Good sir,
As an aspiring bass player and loyal disciple of Squire's bass playing from 69-80, I must say BRAVO to your exemplary work here. Are you in a Yes cover band? If not, you should be!

Miguel, as always a great lesson and example of how it's done!
Thank you for the kind words :)
Holy crap! You are SMOKIN' on this song! Keep up the great playing!
Glad you enjoyed it, Wes. I tried to add a little extra-work for the video result, so I learned this PiP trick on-the-fly really! It was a really cool thing to do. Oh yes, and "The Fish" wink ;) Thanks!
Wow, what a bassline! Thanks for showing me!
I always thought there must have been a bass overdub on Roundabout, nice to have that confirmed.
HOLY SHIT man. I mean, seriously I could have mistaken it with the original one! Awesome job.
What a talent...congratulations,bro.!
+Johan Naranjo thank you Johan!
Thank you very much for watching :)
I was wondering who would be the first to mention the "Ram" wink. Spot on, Alex :)) A sweet moment I borrowed from Steve Howe.
You are honestly one of the best things that I have seen on RUclips. Such clarity in your playing. I haven't played bass in some time (I own a Ric 4003) but you have inspired me to get some playing in.
Good job!:-D
Thank you very much, Mike. All the best.
Hi Jason. Thank you for dropping by!
That was a fantastic bass cover. The bass is one of the reasons why I really love this song. It's catchy.
Obrigado Miguel. Bom trocar comentários em português. Vindo ao Rio de Janeiro, não deixe de avisar. Abraços.
I googled for it and couldn't find what it means, but thanks for watching!
Thank you very much for this important contribution to more appreciate this piece of musical art. It´s remarkable your dedication and generous initiative. I will keep a copy of this video to share with my friends and gransons in order that know how real music was made in the 70´s. Thanks again.
There's always something good in using one more technique, it's nice to know that you enjoyed that. Thanks!
You are very kind!! Yes, you guessed - that was a wink to that classic Ram videoclip. It really wasn't planned, it came to me as I was doing it :) Thank you very much for your words.
You're very welcome - thank you for watching!
Wow this is just incredible. I started playing bass about a year ago. I hope one day I can play my favourite Yes songs as well as you can!
This is dope, it's my funeral soundtrack. Play it to a child in 2023 and it will shake the house. thanks for this one miguelbass.
Ok...one of the best openning songs of any rock act ever...probably not the most complex bassline , but the way it moves like a snake supporting the whole orchestra( Yes , Yes is an orchestra) is unbeatable....kuddos!!
Yes Geddy Lee does play on Rickenbacker, Fender and Steinbergers bass. Seen Rush in concert three time.
Thanks, and so great to hear you speak out your love for Chris' playing.
