    I'd say it's important to remember to enjoy your musicians whilst you still can, no matter which lineup you'd prefered since they are unfortunately not going to be able to stay with us for too much longer as age and illness or even death will eventually catch up with them.

    I understand Steve H's desire to keep going, but this a 'Yes tribute band'. It's nice that Yes's music has enough people appreciating it that this band can keep it going. But despite how great Steve is, I don't think I would have been listening to Yes music for 50+ years if this was the line-up in 1972. I could only watch a couple of minutes of this.

      Agreed 100%! I’ve seen Jon Anderson three times. The first two times were when he formed ARW with Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman, and then again last year with The Band Geeks. All three shows were amazing! That was more YES sounding than whatever this is. It’s NOT YES without Jon Anderson, and everyone knows it. Geoff Downes is no Rick Wakeman and should’ve stayed with Asia. This “YES” makes my heart sad and my ears bleed. If you haven’t heard, Jon Anderson is releasing a new album this Summer with the Band Geeks and I’m so excited! Can’t wait! Go see Jon with the Band Geeks! They rock!

    I love that they are still at it. The musicianship is still there, and they would not be out there if it sucked because these guys truly care about the music. I love it. It's a small venue, but they're still bringing it, regardless. They do it because they love it.

    • @jamesmuir5262
      @jamesmuir5262 5 месяцев назад +1

      @j.schmittler4905 I 100% agree with you there my friend. I think the new keyboard sounds, different bass tone, new drum style and different singing timbre have honestly made this an incredible feel good group to watch or listen to in the 2020s. The small venues is more conducive to the lack of star power, and Steve Howe was never one to actively want extreme fame. He has said time and time again such things as, "I just wanted to be like Chet Atkins and fiddle in the back of the band [...] If I have to take a leader role I will do so because the situation demands it!"
      I think the current mindset of the band is just to keep going. Just like Chris and Alan wanted them to, just like Tony and Bill give them permission to, just like Trevor Horn wants them to. There are far more people close to the YES world who are keen for the band to continue than not. As for the fandom, well I think they are attracted a new generation of fans with the new music and new members. I am certainly one of them, and I think their 3 live albums with participations from Alan, as well as their 2 studio albums have proved well enough that the band still has the soul and meaning it always had. The musicianship is not the only thing - the fact that these musicians are so unwavered in their commitment to it brings tears to my eyes weekly when I listen to them. The emotion behind the lineup we have now is why I listen to them, not whether or not Steve can play as well as he did at 27 as he can at 77. Hell, I hope he has a good 10 years left in him with the band, and I couldn't care less if they slow everything down even more!

  • @justaskin8523
    @justaskin8523 6 месяцев назад +34

    My God, the judgy I'm reading in the comments below. Some of the commenters here should be ashamed. Many of these musicians won't be with us anymore, in as little as 10 years...or even 5. No grace. No appreciation. And no grateful attitudes of any kind. What is wrong with us? Just passing our judgy on as if it really matters what we think, imagine the hubris.
    These people actually played their instruments. And they actually sang with their own voices, in an era when very few young artists take the time and trouble to develop the skills and do that anymore. Really, it's amazing that anybody even bothers! I liked the song. It would have been nice to hear it live, and I've been to Yes shows, so I know what I'm talking about. This performance was good enough because it was shipshape enough. It is Yes. It might not be your favorite Yes, but seriously, anybody who says it isn't Yes is just being mean and crusty. We've learned nothing about the messages of love and kindness that earlier versions of this band and many others crafted a half-century or more ago. Concert's over with, now everybody please leave politely, and don't leave any trash in the parking lot! 🤨

No band can duplicate the era when they were making it all up in their 20’s. I haven’t enjoyed a concert so much in years .. and they didn’t play a note from my favourite album .. Close to the Edge. 😀 The new singer did a great job with notoriously difficult vocal gymnastics.

    Everyone of the guys on that stage is great and does a great job. I just do not get the same feelings from that first concert my parents took me to in 98 when I was only eight years old. I have to agree this is Steve Howe's Yes cover band doing a damn good job I have to add.

      Yes today has 0% members from their beginnings, actually. Steve Howe joined in at their 3rd album.
      Their very first line-up have been Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Bill Bruford, Tony Kaye and Peter Banks (latter one who was replaced by Steve).

Enjoy him!!!!(and the rest of the band as well; of course I miss Alan, Rick, Jon and, above all, Chris... but, whatever name, whatever members, they still are great. Just my thoughts, huh??).

    A band is something that grows naturally. You can't copy something like that, you can't do it with the Beatles, you can't do it with Queen and you can't do it with YES. If Keith Richard and other musicians tried to imitate the Stones, he too would fail. A rhythm section can be replaced like an engine in a car, the soul of a music group cannot be replaced.

    • @WolfgangvonBoyen
      @WolfgangvonBoyen 6 месяцев назад

      @@nickolaskentala9583 Keith Richards' phrasing is so unique that no one can copy it. There are individual skills like Mick Jagger's voice that you can't copy. Do a test with AL and try to have Mick Jagger sing "Love Me Do" by the Beatles - it won't work! Artificial intelligence also has natural limits, just like all of us. I'm 74 years old and to this day I play all of my music live and with the first take. I never repeat myself and no one can copy me.

    I agree with all the rest of the comments. This is definitely NOT Yes ! Like others have said, this band should be touring as “ Steve Howe and Friends “ rather than Yes as they just don’t cut it. Most songs are played too slow and Davison’s vocals don’t hold a candle to Jon Anderson. Geoff Downes’ keyboards are plain amateurish. Sorry.

    Technically, none of them are original members, Steve Howe is the second guitar player.
    There have been many variations and lineups through the decades, and at one point, there were 2 different versions going at the same time.
    Steve Howe is the definitive guitar player, though, and you could make the argument that "Owner of a Lonely Heart" wasn't Yes, either.
    Or anything with Alan White wasn't Yes.
    I listened to some of the new album, and it sounds like a Yes record to me,
