Been telling people this my entire life, and everyone has fought me tooth and nail.. until it happens to them. I find myself praying for rain, because people are never happier than when they are unprepared, suddenly fighting the current together.
These **flashes** between catastrophes are ultimately fleeting **because** in the time it takes the people involved to catch their breath, they have already begun acting like they had before the catastrophe. Their **true nature** is what they demonstrate in these flashes; in this deep yearning for connection-- but because they are accustomed to a life where this behavior is reprimanded, they will abandon it in favor of the usual lies and excuses the moment equilibrium begins to balance the situation out again.
In truth, these "flashes" are the only moments in which the human race are truly honest with themselves.
Maybe "safety" is not the god civilization thinks it is.
I had heard back during the floods in Katrina that thier was widespread crime during that time butt instead of punish8ng the criminals the government at the time sent the national guard house to house to take guns from families who where minding their own business and defending their communities perfectly legally and where doing just fine and then the government came to mess it up further hurting the people they failed to protect in the first place 😢

Be careful how you define anarchy. The modern usage has corrupted the original meaning of the Greek word, which translates literally to “having no ruler.” Not chaos or destruction. The examples you presented perfectly illustrate anarchy in its truest sense: solidarity, care for each other, and human organization, without the need for and indeed _despite_ the failure of ‘government’. In fact the evidence shows repeatedly that, most of the time, the ‘officials’ and ‘leaders’ make the situation worse, sometimes catastrophically as in the case of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Robert Evans of the podcast _Behind the Bastards_ calls the phenomenon “elite panic”. Those who ‘rule’ are inherently detached from the people they supposedly ‘rule’, which results in horrible leadership. We don’t need this. We can do better without.
