@@GothicLoglc Who knows, if they would have still worked with Rick Rubin and recorded at the mansion, he could've convinced Hillel to try something different. People underestimate Hillel's musicality and knowledge on the guitar. In the band What Is This? he played in a different style. Even John wasn't sure (as he has himself said) about trying to bring something different and more melodic with the Chilis at first since they were established as a hardcore funk/punk band, and only did so first on BSSM thanks to Rick encouraging the whole band to try something different.
