Freaky styley is my fav album, the musicanship and energy is fantastic. It doesn't sound like the modern chilis though which is awesome...you don't get many bands which grow with time and stay fresh.
If you look at Hillel here and at the early rhcp with John Frusciante (around 89/90) you'll see very clear similarities between them both. It almost feels like John is trying to copy Hillel (can't blame him) I would have done the same. But later on John Frusciante develops his own style around 98/99 and makes progress in the Johnny-way which I love. I just needed ventilate that with you guys. All my love to RHCP, their history and what they are doing now. I love how they still are 100% pure.
The band technically had money, but they were by no means wealthy, and the band members at this point had pretty low income, never having more than a couple thousand bucks to their name at this point. I believe each member got about $4000 after this tour (freaky styley). I got this out of Scar Tissue, so yeah, at this point they weren't starving, and this was their day job, but it didn't really pay well.
Still love this tune must have been wicked to have seen it live . Would ve been nine at the time though. RHCP should bring back the funk on next album methinks.
What about songs like Purple Stain, Around the World and Get on Top were a few songs that were pretty much just like their old stuff and it was made on the Californication album.
Hillel Slovak one the top 80s guitar players !!!! Without Hillel - no Chili Peppers .. Peppers are a part of music history thumps up if your the same opinion ....
Well yeah, there's nothing wrong with branching out. By The Way took it a little too far I think though, with all the soft songs that didn't even have much melody. But their latest album had a decent amount of funk. Their next album will really show where they stand I think. I don't want them to keep making BSSM or Freaky Styley over and over, but I don't want to see them lose their unique sound and style either.
Not bad for some rockers.....nice tribute to the Real Kings of Funk. One good thing is maybe all the youngbloods will be turned on to the Meters from listening to these guys.
2 ears + 1 heart + a booty you're not ashamed to shake, for example ? you're damn right when you write "things" for californication... when you know this band for 20 or more years you can qualify "it" as a bloody(not so crappy when you compare with... a long list) THING !
lets face it....Californication was what made them lose their funk. Even One Hot Minute had a LITTLE bit of the remnants of stuff like this. Californication was too mainstream & alternative.
my favourite era from the RHCP, martinez style was so cool
The 1st and my favorite RHCP guitarist Hillel Slovak: I miss you so much. AND George Clinton onstage, the legendary added bonus!
i'm so proud that this israeli man was in my favourite band and was a brother to anthony and flea!

Great to see the old school Peppers with their hero, George Clinton.
Freaky styley is my fav album, the musicanship and energy is fantastic. It doesn't sound like the modern chilis though which is awesome...you don't get many bands which grow with time and stay fresh.
I miss the days when they were funky..
I hear ya… times change sadly. as good as JF is he killed the funk.
Im lovin Anthony's skirt and socks. It doesnt even make him look feminine. Just cool. Hillel is one hell of a Funk guitarist.
Love it when Clinton fails to put his mike back on it's stand, and just doesn't give a dam :D
This is honey for my ears.
I flow with this P-bass sound that comes from Fleas fingers.

Exactly! Bring some real funk and excitement back into the music. They’ve basically been vanilla since ‘91.

hillel slovak was polish/yugoslavian....just to clear that up.
1985 kiedis = high as balls
Not bad for some rockers.....nice tribute to the Real Kings of Funk. One good thing is maybe all the youngbloods will be turned on to the Meters from listening to these guys.
rockers??? at this point RHCP are a bizarre cauldron of punk funk hip hop rock soul
Is Keidis wearing those shorts because Rocky IV came out that same year? Or am I overthinking this too much?
@ManDudeYeah They still are but the alt. rock stlyle is overshadowing it
Look at the turtle go bro
@Fmmarca that would be hitting A string on 7 fret, nothing more ^_^

Qué dirá Anthony al final en alemán?
@Yoshiling He is Rocky. :P

FUNK RULES
i'm not sure, but I thnik it's not Hillel Slovak, but Jack Sherman.
@Yoshiling
Overthinking...
Cullera !
Comprenne qui pourra !
What's happened to their tattoos ???? They have no tattoos in this concert ??? Are their tats actually painted on ?
Crazy Anthony ; ***
Unfortunately this is not : (
But they are my favorite band
The second time he said take me back, the video restarted...
@SENATORPAIN1 i feel the same way hahha
speedball overdose?? you're confusing him with Flea's mate River Pheonix. pure smack for The Messiah.
3:48 Lol.
At some point in time, Lil Jon decided to take the DeLorean back to 1985.
They had money.
A band from LA California, that's performing in Germany clearly has money.
It doesn't really take too long anyway
FLea has a P-Bass?!?!?!?!?
I think Anthony came a little during the scatting
when everyone got sober is when they lost it.
Chad Smith is dressed like Luna Lovegood!!!
that's jack irons
John copied the riff of this song in Hump de bump
audience didnt feel the rhytm
The store owner gave it to him for free!
so many drugs were used in this performance
2 ears + 1 heart + a booty you're not ashamed to shake, for example ?
you're damn right when you write "things" for californication... when you know this band for 20 or more years you can qualify "it" as a bloody(not so crappy when you compare with... a long list) THING !
they're german. what you expected?
lets face it....Californication was what made them lose their funk. Even One Hot Minute had a LITTLE bit of the remnants of stuff like this. Californication was too mainstream & alternative.
