There is NO FUCKING WAY you cannot get up from bed or some difficult situation by listening to this song. I still listen to it and I still get goosebumps. The RHCP were friggin unstoppable in 89...

+SELMUN TATATAYA Not trying to one up you, but I remember the day Mother's Milk came out!! My friends and I had started listening to their previous album, "Uplift Mofo Party Plan" and we were ready for the new RHCP album to drop. We went to our local mall, yep, bought it on cassette then rode around taking bong hits!! Nah, just kidding about that last part. We didn't drive around taking bong hits. We parked on the banks of the Tennessee River and took bong hits.

SELMUN TATATAYA Thanks. Yeah, you can't help when you were born. I would've liked to have been old enough to see Led Zeppelin but I was born in 1973. I wish I had been old enough to see other bands like Rush and Yes in the 70's. I saw both of those bands in the 90's and a few years ago, but I think it would have been very cool to see them when they were still quite young.

Good Time Boys was the very first song I ever heard from the Chili's. I was around 6, and my uncle's friend had tried to get him into RHCP, I'm assuming from memory. Both of them were teenagers at the time. But my uncle got his friend into slow jams instead.
Resulting in me keeping his friend's Mother's Milk cassette for about 2 weeks.

didn't know that the greek wore spectacles back in the 80's?!!
Another thing...do you notice how Kiedis talks almost exclusively about "anal cavities" in maybe every second sentence when he speaks here? ... wanna know why? took me a while to figure this one out (about 5 minutes)....It's cause he's a greek!!
One last fact: The RHCP are maybe one of only a handful of bands to have ever stuck together throughout 4 decades of pure evolving rich funky music (and a bit of noise - not every song is a winner!).
I bet you couldn't name more than 10 bands to be in this 4 decade category - but still be playing, and touring right this moment like the peppers are???
Just think, in only a smidge over 3 years, they'll be a 5 decader band!!! Now THAT is rare!! Go Boys, I KNOW that you can do it!!!!

You guys, people change. I think that if they would have played the same style of music along the years, they would have lost their touch, their magic. What I like about RHCP is that theyr'e playing through their soul, they play what they feel at the moment. By the time they change, and so as their style. I love them, think they're great. I haven't been dissapointed of any record, in fact- I was so excited any time anew because they're creating new things all the time. A very special band...

Indeed, it may seem that we have strange ways
But we do it with compassion and don't believe in age
Travel 'round the world gettin' naked on the stage
Bustin' people out of their everyday cage
    Oh we like to think
We make a sad man happy
And we like to make proud
    Our mammy and our pappy
Funky young kings, we sing of truth and soul
We're the modern day braves with one strong hold
Through the world of song, our boldness is exposed
I'm talkin' 'bout my buddies, funk it up, Fishbone!

To the minds that are open, it's you we represent
We hope you have enjoyed the time that you have spent
One day the good time boys might just be president
Like a pack of mad hatters
    Who come from outer space
    Our swinging's gonna shatter
    Every stone cold face
Now you may not know the exact reason why
A band commands attention from the mountains and the sky
Makin' more than money, more than money can buy

'Cause his heart is made of glory, his voice is make of gold
He'll tell you in a minute about the men he knows
He'll tell you 'bout the band called Fire Hose
To those of you who doubt
    The nature of our spirit
    We play it out loud
    For everyone to hear it
Building up our brains with the supernatural powers
We take it from the trees and the mighty watts towers
Aim the flame of freedom at the lames and sours
We're the best of the west and the west is ours!!

Mother's Milk & Blood Sugar Sex Magic were peak RHCP. They have had a few good songs before that Era and after but those 2 records were solid all the way through.

Saw the Mothers Milk tour at a little club called the Kawasaki Club, in Kawasaki Japan, in 1989 or 1990 maybe. It was epic. My buddy and I were the only 2 Americans there, and we were right in front of the small stage. Those guys had energy like no other.

I think I have to be the only person to think that the RHCP would have fit perfectly as a Disney Channel band.
You know, if Disney enjoyed getting pumped in the place where the sun doesn't shine.

It’s interesting how Anthony always had a hip hop vibe to him through the 80s and early 90s (not just music how he spoke and mannerisms)
even though none of his friends did. That did go away though.
