This is a cool era, sure, but Mothers Milk was inferior to the two albums that surrounded it. Uplift Mofo is Hillels breakthrough record & BSSM remains the masterpiece. But for live performance this was indeed a good era.
I agree, I all like their different eras for different reasons but Mothers Milk represents that chaotic energy the best as an album with it being Frusciante's first. I like BSSM the most but nothing beats this album in terms of that chaotic energy.
@@eo_tonhao do you play guitar? As a guitarist I can confidently say that after leaving the band and succumbing to drug addiction and burns JF just wasn't the same technically. He seemed to lose a lot of the attack and power in his playing

They haven't played anything off of Mother's Milk in years. I know that "Stone Cold Bush" wouldn't fly in today's world, but "Knock Me Down"? "Johnny Kick A Hole"? "Higher Ground"? "Pretty Little Ditty?" Lame.
Love all the pre-BSSM work from the peppers. Naturally they had to mellow down and work with a more refined style as they got older but damn, they could rock the fuck out
@@RastaSaiyaman totally agree. Everyone critisized Navarro but he rocked the fuck out and gave the band a raw sound. Not to even mention his ability as a guitarist
When they were looking for a new guitar player my friend Jeff tried out for the band. He made it to the top three and we all thought he was going to get the position and that’s when Dave Navarro stepped in.
I was at this show in the 10th row. I lost my copy of the original concert and can't find a copy. I'd love to see the whole thing again. Thanks for posting.
After a 104 day summer vacation Phineas and Ferb left making big projects and started their careers as musicians Phineas picked up guitar and Ferb bass Anthony was very impressed and let them on the chilli peppers
This band deserves all the success they've had. Man oh man did they do it for me. Suck My Kiss changed rock and perception for me in 91' much ❤️. I can name all my faves, but not enough room here for that. RUclips has-a-plenty
I saw them in '90 on the mother's milk tour in Birmingham alabama. Fetchin Bones opened for them. Flea wore his stuffed animal pants. Anthony in the same Indian shirt. John with hat. It was an eye-opening show for sure haha
John Frusciante before becoming a junkie and then getting reborn into some extraordinarily softer version of himself. RIP hard-hitting shredder version of John Frusciante.
Actually its his potential that kept them going til now - especially when it comes to the developing of the bitter-sweet harmonies ever since Californication.
I would agree for the songs before stadium arcadium. I really think John reached his potential, all the guitar tracks on that one are great. And it’s a double album too
'Stone cold bush' isn't punk. It's far too perfect for that. If anything, it's the 'antithesis' to punk, because it works at furious pelting precision, without being cack. That's not Shitknot. Or the hex pistols. That's the one and only Rachmaninov of bass guitar.
When younger RHCP fans wonder why some of us love the Mothers Milk era the most, I present to them the chaotic energy in this performance.
Gotta agree. My fav era is the mothers milk, bssm era. Although I think my fav song is the other side.
Man. I'm young fan of RHCP. But i like Mother's milk. For this energy.Stone cold bush a Knock me down, my favorites!

Man, Frusciante was a different type of beast at this point. Simply amazing.
Agree
He never seems to have regained this level of ability since rejoining in 98

The bassline in this opens up a portal to an entire aspect of the universe undisclosed to many.
Agreed. Plus the fact that chad smith is a rhythmic monster
This is one of my favorite RHCP songs. Also, Flea is god of the bass.
It's insane😊
