Eric Bro both of those sentences are opinions. I think Hillel is much better than John could’ve ever been, but I’m not trying to “correct” you by telling you that Hillel is better than John. It’s just my opinion.
Hillel is really one of my biggest inspirations for guitar, sadly its hard to study his technique with so little material. Fun fact: I'm from a country called Slovakia, what a cooincidence
Such a grear guitar player, so dirty and clean at the time, perfect for funk, he also do a lot hendrix tricks, maybe that can help you I see him like hendrix playin funk
Whenever Rage is sounding their best at rehearsal it probably sounds like Chili Peppers, but they get self conscious and don't speak of it. Rage would be nothing without the fact that Morrello has years of dedication to making cool sounds
Great kicky beats with Jack tho. Does what the song needs. AK raps to Jack very well. And this is also pre John. Is a different language once those three were at it.
Chad Smith is average at best Mother's Milk ..Taste the Pain Phillip Fish Fisher played drums on the track for Chad lacked the soul groove what is saying for his 1st Album ....as a Pepper
Did anyone else notice Hillel and Flea both broke strings near the beginning? I think they both ended the song with their back ups. I know Hillel did, he switched from Fender to Gibson after that intro dive bomb with the whammy.
Its a tough call to decide who had the worst job... the guitar tech or the chiropractor. Unbelievably awesome... I remember around the year 2000 Hillel's brother James was selling an artwork book of Hillel's on ebay (I still have and cherish that book), I bought the book as well as a vhs tape of Hillel playing live with flea and doing some random stuff on a Hendrix tribute show... a few months later James sold the painting that Hillel died on on Ebay. I could be wrong (it was a long time ago) but if I recall correctly it went for around $600 - $800, I wish I wasn't so poor I would have loved to have owned that painting. I wonder where it is now...
He really sold that painting??? Maaaannnn, wishing the same as you! Not much of a class act to sell that though, but it is ofc too easy to judge. James must be pretty happy this year because RHCP sold part of their catalog, including a lot of Freaky Styley/Uplift Mofo, for 150 million. A fair portion of that will go to Hillels heirs - in this case James and maybe their dad. Would have been nice if their mom would have seen a portion of that before she passed away.
I love Jackie I.’s contributions, but he was never the best choice. Cliff, DH, and Chad fit the sound a lot better. They can all groove with Flea seamlessly.
Hillel was fundametal on Frusciante's development as a guitarist. If you watch some live clips of the Mother's Milk tour you can definetly hear his influence on John's playing, for example all the vibrato bar craziness with his guitar just like Hillel on this performance.
You must have rather unrealistic standards because Hillel was nothing short of awesome. He may have been inspired by many great musicians but he had a unique sound and technique.
I love the Los Faces Uplift Mofo, my favourite album, but Chad along with John brought the Chilis out of a dark dark place. And they made some shit hot albums, maximum respect!!!!!
uh... I read recently that Hillel is a overrated guitarist... and watching this I have to agree... Too much noise, and solos with random notes out of scale.. Not that good...
He was heavy on heroin at this point. He’s was seriously struggling clinging to life and he was pretty much on the brink of death. His previous live shows are a lot better.
You can really tell why Hillel was one of John´s guitar heroes
just a month before Hillel passed😔.
thanks for your beautiful art, Hillel.
💙🎸⚡️🌈
Two months and two days after this gig the world lost Hillel. If you see me getting high....Knock Me DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As much as I love John Frusciante, you just can't beat the original sound of Hillel.
He wasn't better. Both are great players

@@featheryfemme John was a RHCP fan and a fan of Hillel. You cannot compare the 2..
@@greig7455 I don't compare the two. I just prefer Hillel to John. (And my opinion has since changed, anyway.)
Hillel sounds 6000 machine guns unloading onto the atom bomb and detonating a tsunami that engulfs the world
Love Hillel. He was the best !!
Hillel's a fucking beast on this. Sure John's avant garde esque/sex solo was also brilliant, but Hillel's style and attitude is just better for me.
Thank you Hillel for reinventing the wheel! Gone now 30 years, way to soon. R.I.P
4 guys getting out there, playing their stuff exactly the way they enjoy to play.
Hillel best guitarist chilis ever had and that's not a slag against John. He kicks ass!!! But Hillel was the original.
Hillel has soul and a natural groove .......missed
This "fast" version is amazing
let's be honest ... you're watching this video because of Hillel
yes! 💙
Yeh I'm on a kick man. I never knew how cool he was
Yes I am
Hillel was such awesomeness ♥️

Lol most English speaking people know what Slovakia is I think
...and I'm from Hillelia...a hidden country full of hills...what a stupid joke, I know, sorry

Sounds like _Rage_ before they existed.
With Hillel Peppers were very metal-ish
@@Brokenface well mother's milk is prolly their most metal record besides one hot minute so

@@UnremarkableMarx Yeah because Wilk, De la Rocha and Commerford are meh, right ? 😆😆😆
I love it hillel
Jack Irons was definitely a good drummer but I think Chad Smith was a necessary replacement to backbone their massive sound.

@@CP-kb1du Taste The Pain is a great track! I love that snare sound. RHCP got the right drummer for that song.
Hillel sounds just like Hendrix here. Fuck was he good
RIP SLIM
Damn this is prob one of the last times Hillel was still alive on video
it is the last time I think
Last time was on Finland 1988
Yeah, Finland 1988 was the last one, you can still find it on RUclips
4th or 5th final show on the 1988 tour
This is og line up right? Jack Irons is on drums and Hillel is on guitar!
GREAT SHIT BRING IT BACK
Do you know a good necromancer?
no. You?
Can You imagine Josh playing Green heaven?
Johnny no, but I can imagine (don’t have to, since he’s done actually it) John playing Green Heaven.
R.I.P. HILLEL❤
How on earth can 3 people dislike this, do they not realize that this is the original Chili Peppers (The Los Faces). Some people eh!
kids. they prefer Tony’s off key crooning.
Jack Sherman and Hillel Slovak is in this song

The only band that matters.
Eterno Hillel Slovak💔
Para mi que frusciante se influenció de Hillel en la manera de tocar y en el estilo
more than 30y passed and we still dont know wtf hillel did in some parts. Fucking genius
just listen to those names Hillel Slovak and Jack motherfucking Irons
Una pregunta la guitarra que tiene slovak es la misma la que tiene jhon cierto porque son muy parecidas
FLEA!!

Hilel is actually not bad
Of course he’s not!
Of course. He IS the backbone of the band's music up until now, 30 years after his death. Not that I exaggerate but it's true
