@@LandonEmmaYeah, i dont buy it. Ive played the game twice, once when i was in middle school and twice a few months ago. The controls are just fine, if you dont know how to incorporate the baby bros in your gameplay, just say that. The battle system is definitely something ive always enjoyed more than Bis's and it sometimes reaches the highs of ss:s for me.
I 100% agree, not only does it have one of the best Mario and Luigi Villains, and how cute the baby bros interactions with their older selves, I would love seeing all of it in the Brothership style.
@@nonsensenimrod well yeah but from an outsider that only played this one and was young I have fond memories and fuelled my childhood imagination greatly . The only flaw came down to never seeing the ending as I could never defeat the final boss. The button mashing was the only thing I genuinely was peeved off at when I played it as a kid
During the first half of the video all your reasons seemed pretty reasonable for a remake, quality of life features and simply giving the game a fresh coat of paint. During the latter half, as you start mentionning all these ideas it became obvious how a remake is probably not what you are looking for. The whole "time travel overhaul," "added Shroob lore" and specially the story improvements are something that would require a rewrite of the whole game. What you want would be better achieved with a sequel. Now, a sequel would be even LESS likely to happen, but when shoving your ideas in THAT context, that's when I start liking them. I never finished or even owned Partners in Time, but it was the first Mario & Luigi game I played, and I also really like the Shroobs, so having a reimagined version of the game is very tempting. A sequel would also allow for expanding upon story and would fittingly be able to emphasize that "past changes the future" idea by having a much more relevant continuity between the games instead of being limited to character cameos. A sequel would probably introduce a million more plot holes, though, but M&L games never took themselves too seriously, which is one of the reasons they are so special. A sequel would also further push the "dark atmosphere" of the original game everyone keeps bringing up, since having important continuity would go nicely with a more serious tone, and it's ironic to say that when I just mentionned how M&L games have always been light-hearted, but I'm sure they could strike a balance as good as they always have. While I don't agree with all of your ideas, I do think they offer an interesting thought experiment that I would definitely like to see one day at least in concept form... whenever I replay and finish Partners in Time. TLDR: Your ideas are more fit for a sequel than for a remake, which is even less likely but still fun to think about. Thanks for the thought experiment; nice job on the video and great thumbnail; my favorite kinds of Shroob the Intern Shroob and Spiny Shroopa.
This is probably the most well-written comment in this comment section. I practically agree with almost everything here despite your disagreements with me. I think either way, something to be made from the groundwork of Partners in Time would be phenomenal, and I really hope to see it come to light in whatever way some day. One thing I will say is I do consider the "remake" concept I have as something akin to Final Fantasy 7 remake, in which that game is VERY different than its original inspiration. While my theoretical remake wouldn't be as wildly different in mechanics, I still think it'd be enough to stand on its own in comparison instead of "replacing" the original game, like I had mentioned in the video, so when you mention the idea of a "sequel", yes, I agree that THAT idea is even less likely, for as awesome as that may be, but I still think this all could be done in a remake form, just as FF7R. Thank you sir for taking the time out of your day to write this comment, I love good discussions like this.
@@batdogduke Thanks for the kind words, and yeah, I completely forgot about that FF7 remake, which I never played, but I have heard some praise for taking so many liberties despite being a remake. I can't remember exactly in which video it was brought up (maybe one day I'll remember and come back to edit this comment), but it did make some great points of having remakes be able to have their own identity, so maybe a Partners in Time remake in that scale could also work very well. Also while reading back my own comment I realized I made a minor spelling mistake at the end... that's unfortunate. Thanks for also taking the time to reply, I'll be keeping an eye out on this channel.
The shroobs were my favorite villains ! I was so disappointed that they skipped partners in time. Sure they appear in Bowser's inside story as a secret battle but... It's just not the same...
The Shroobs will always be some of my favorite Mario characters in general. They're simple yet they scratch this itch of character type I love. Just completely unhinged, goofy, + villain status
the fact that the only complaint i have for partners in time is the minor issue that i didn't like that bros moves were tied to items you buy at a store instead of using bro points says a LOT about how good it was
@@norstrader it sold more than both 3Ds remakes combined or any of the remakes + Paper Jam Bros. It also bearly sold less than SSS onky about 85% worse. Bowsers Inside sold more than double of SSS so if it was just about money they would have remade Bowsers Inside story remake first. You could argue thats cause it wasnt as old at the time, but you can also argue that they hoped the game that sold the most in the franchise would maybe save alphadream from bankrupcy
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a game that uses time travel as a gimmick yet you only ever go to one form of time? That’s weird. There is potential from everything you explained. I’m glad that at least it’s a series that is still alive. So many beloved dead IPs that companies refuse to do anything about.
EXACTLY, and while my ideas are only just theoretical, I hope Brothership brings more people with similar ones / hopes for a remake. Also, even though the flaws exist, I still highly recommend trying Partners in Time out! It's still a fun lil game, trust me.
My best guess for why the time traveling doesn’t impact the present mushroom kingdom is that the developers didn’t want to deal with time paradoxes and such. The past is essentially a parallel universe. Personally it never really bothered me, as the plot of the game is already pretty cool and the small area of peaches castle keeps everything grounded and organized:D Maybe I’m a bit biased though as partners in time was my introduction to rpg’s as a whole:P
About the "The Present is unaffected by the past" part... When I was younger and couldn't read anything, I thought the past was actually the future, mostly because of that. Also, no one *_remembers_* the Shroobs invasion either... for the babies it can be explained, but everyone else in the kingdom should know that this happened. It's more logical that we learn of troubles in the future because of the Time Travel Machine and we take it on ourselves to save Present Princess Peach in the future and save that time period at the same time. As a 6 years old I thought this made more sense than what actually happens. (I also thought the babies were the future children of Mario and Luigi because I thought it was like that)
1. Yeah I just think more sense of acknowledgement of their existence is needed in the overall world in-game (present-wise) 2. LOL SAME at one point while as a kid I do remember thinking it was like a jr. situation
Imagine if they remade that game using a 3D engine; we could finally see our favorite alien mushrooms in HD and 4K, complete with great cutscenes and funny voice acting, which is basically gibberish.
I also think this is gonna work because the progression in both PIT & Bros. is very similar. Both games have a hub from which you can access into the other locations. It's nice that people online still like PIT, because it's also one of my favorite games from M&L series.
Indeed, I'm glad to see so many fellow Shroob enthusiasts such as us. Also, that is good to know, the hub thing maybe means we may see them actually pull off a remake in the future buuuuuuut I won't hold my breath.
5:32 becose the story is selfconsistent, becose you win the war agaist shroobs in the past, the present is never change, you already won that war, and mario and luigi are predestinated to go the past to beat the shroobs, in a way you are already spoiled of the end of the game becose the present isnt a shroob-like nightmare, this is example of Novikov self-consistency principle
@@zachtwilightwindwaker596I always took this to mean that the baby’s grew up into the BIS bros and that PIT are canonically last in the chronological, so they haven’t fought them as adults
@@zachtwilightwindwaker596If I remember correctly, they say something along the lines of “those aliens invaded the kingdom when we were babies and we had to fight them,” which is true whether or not they’ve experienced the invasion as adults. Partners in Time isn’t meant to take place at a later point in the timeline because of Fawful in the present under Peach’s Castle talking about wanting revenge on the Mario Bros, obviously before the events of Bowser’s Inside Story and his death at the end of that game.
Always odd that Partners in Time didn’t get a 3DS, and when Alphadream went bankrupt I assumed it would never happen. With the Mario & Luigi series getting a sudden Switch revival, I now have more hope that a PiT remake is at least feasible.
This game has the coolest premise ever... Basically parasitic alien creatures invade the planet AND utilize time travel to try and take over, with extremely dark depictions of exploiting the land and the creatures living in it. Its like a dark twist not seen in most Mario games, yet they do basically NOTHING with it!
See in regards to the story, the ending makes Partners in Time a stable time loop. That said in a remake, since the Shroobs are supposed to be doing a planetary invasion, what's happening in Sarasland, the DK Isles, etc. We could follow Kylie Koopa in a side adventure like they did with the superstar saga and Bowser's inside story, or see use Kamek and Baby Bowser to see how the world is being effected in past of the mushroom kingdom. Really there are ways to expand on the story without basically killing the stable time loop Partners in Time makes at the end of the game. Also, wish they had actually done something like the Shroob language getting translated in like a new game plus, as a reward for beating the game. Another way to kind of make it so we always understand the shroob language is through the use of E. Gadd having put some fancy translation device in stuffwell.
PiT getting a modern remake would make me reeeeeeeeeally happy! The only tweaks I'd want would be that the bros moves wouldn't be locked to items (because PiT made that weird change for some reason)
I think Shroob castle specifically being barren is fitting. It shows you what the Shroobs do to the places they colonize. Though I think Shroob castle being barren would hit harder if peaches castle wasn’t so barren itself.
See like, I respect what you're going for but I just don't get its barren-ness. What you're saying makes sense, but as the base of operations for an ENTIRE alien species, I would've expected at least a bit more. To each their own though, I suppose. I still like the castle, I just think it could be better.
I think a remake of this game would be the perfect opportunity to turn an absolute blunder into an amazing game! All of the key components for a great Mario & Luigi are there, but they just weren't executed quite right
5:35 they could(and should) make it so that if you enter a time warp after beating the area, that you can go to the future! With some added quests like shroob-extermination to make a good future and bad future scenarios, and really good items to incentivise these endings. This should also lead to 3 ends. If you dont do any of the extra stuff, elder princess shroob lives, and commands her army once more. If you do a min of 30% of them, the shroobs die, but not before leaving a few spores. The time machine also stops working as well, and there will be a small portion of returning to the past castle. The last one is 80% completion where you get the normal ending.
Another thing about the story, a few things actually are How did the Shroobs survive to appear in BIS and furthermore how did they find Bowser's Castle Fawful, for years his character has been shrouded in mystery, and considering he is in a game of Time Travel, it'd be nice to get a glimpse on how he became crazy the way he is, how did he meet Midbus or even how did this Fawful lead up to the Fawful we see in BIS. Perhaps a game mode similar to Minions Quest and Bowser's Jr Journey but more refined
Great video. you made a lot of great points. and how awsome would it be if fawful came back for the third time and teamed up with the shroobs and then everyone would team up to defeat them like you described.
I had the idea to keep princess peach's Castle as the hub world but instead of having portals to the past directly there you can instead go to the present area of one of the areas you visit in the past and then that is where the portal to the past is, but you can go to any area right off the bat but get blocked off from continuing until the point in the story where you have to go to the past area of that place where then that present area will get affected by the past and open a portal to the past Example: you can go to the vim factory forest at any time but a certain area is blocked off until you have to go to the past version of it in which the forest will change almost completely to show the effects of the past on the present where then there would be a portal to the past
These are really cool improvements I never thought about! Except the difficulty thing I kinda love the fact the princesses are insanely difficult. Though Bowser healing himself so much IS very annoying. Contextualizing the areas specially would add sooo much to the invasion vibe of the game! And a traitor shroob would also be soooo cool! This video makes me so hype for something that, knowing Nintendo, prolly won't happen, but we can hope....
I really love all the points you brought up. Havingthe same concerns about this game and I think it's sad they didn't use all it's potential. If they actually overhaul these points in a not port-like but actual remake, that would be soooo good. Just showing this game more love than what we have now would be so good to see.
your whole concept of solving puzzles in the past and impacting the future/present is done flawlessly in Chrono Trigger because you can choose the time periods whenever you want once you get the Epoch/Black Omen appearing
I also feel like Bowser is just out of character in this game, usually, when there's a greater evil that wants to take over the world, he doesn't just stand there and do nothing about it, he has minions he actually cares about, a world to rule, so I think they should've made it so that he also fought the shroobs, potentially along with Mario and Luigi
Perhaps I don't remember that, but either way I feel like a bit of a more in-depth look into their history would be cool. Nothing wrong with a lil more lore, ya know
20:00 or, what if they took the Origami King approach with Bowser's Castle, where you see them battling the enemy shroobs, and you can join their battles to help them out.
as some one who has 5 Mario&Luigi games but doesn't have partners in time ( I am asking for it for Christmas ) I can say for certain that this game needs a remake for other people without a 3Ds
A shroob that dwells into research would be a great character. This shroob can be introduced as a scientist who decided to protect other lifeforms to study them. And would explain why this shroob would be quicker to learn a new language and less aggressive.
I've been saying this ever since Bowser's Inside Story remake was announced, I was actually disappointed it was BIS and not this. Though personally I'm not sure I'd like the developers of Brothership to do it. I was generally pretty heartbroken when AlphaDream filed for bankruptcy.
Completely unrelated thought, as a kid when I played PIT and BIS i always thought that in the series PIT was the last adventure and the oldest they are in the series. That’s why in BIS when they talk about fighting Shroobs they refer to themselves as baby’s as the baby’s in PIT grew into the bros in BIS. And, I think it explains why the bros can double jump on their own and why they need to use items instead of BP, the bros are just old now, they can’t keep up like they used to. That’s my head cannon at the very least
what if as you played the game, Peach's Castle slowly gets more and more distorted the second you return to the present. It starts out small, like say you can find a few hidden Shroob carpets nearby, and other stuff, and as you get closer and closer to the end of the game, the more Peach's castle gets warped into the Shroobs image. The characters realize it, and when you go directly to the past, you are now free to tackle the shroob castle in it's full design. Also... what if you also got to see distorted versions of each location. (This is where Bowser Junior (or another character), with the help of some friends/allies, travels to Shroobified versions of the various locations. Toad Town, Holijolli Village, Vim Woods, Gritzy Desert, Thwomp Volcano, etc... Or heck, what if in this new version of the game, Mario and Luigi get corrupted by some time powers and have to use it on certain places to travel to the present, and possibly the future. (sort of like Sonic CD) You travel to each area, and can travel to the present versions, and you have to defeat a boss in both the past and the bad future. This future would make it look different than normal. For example, Vim's Forest and Vim Factory. In the past you fight against Swiggler, in the present, you get a regular wiggler, and in the future you get a Purple Robotic Wiggler. Maybe what the 4 heroes have to deal with is the Shroobs attacking in the past, and them returning in the future. In a sense, the shroobs were all defeated in the past, and yet their planet is still around. and it's possible there are more out there. What if instead of a remake, we got a sequel, that has the bros, along with Bowser (who plays a secondary protagonist role, as they actually use Bowser's own Airship to storm space, and restore various planets/worlds that have been corrupted by the Shroobs influence. (For conquers... they only targetted the Mushroom Kingdom, I'd think they have taken over many other locations prior to attacking the mushroom kingdom. The shroobs want revenge, so they attack and force the bros and Bowser to escape their homes. As a bonus, Bowser Junior is also there as an ally as well as Kamek. Bowser's Elite Minions (the ones we see in Paper Jam (King Boo, King Bob-omb, Petey Piranha, Koopalings, + Elite Trio get captured and mostly appear on the side mode starring Bowser Junior and Kamek.) The goal of the heroes is to actually rescue Peach, as she was beamed away by the shroobs and taken to their home planet, where their goal is to actually transform her into a Princess Shroob herself, so they can send her back to the mushroom kingdom, and conquer it as one of them. This is where Bowser also makes his own plan. Realizing what needs to be done, he doesn't tell the bros of his plan as he knows they probably won't want to do it. (Bowser's plan is to blow up the Shroob Planet itself, wiping out any Shroobs that are left alive... full on Shroob elimination)
Partners in Time has ALOT of potential to be the BEST M&L game in the series, but they didn't utilize the theme of time travel properly. My first time playing this game made me confused because, why even show a map of the present overworld if the only place that is only accessible is Peach's Castle. I like the concept of past shroobified Mario enemies going through the portal and trying to conquer the present too and it will be the catalyst that will set up for the bros to go to that portal. Also, I want to see a wider class of shroob versions of the Mario enemies, cuz Im amazed and terrified at the same time seeing the shroob version of a Spiney. A huge misopportunity to remake an underrated M&L game fr
I see a remake of M&L: PIT and I wish it gets a remakes, the game has so much potential, and what I would like to see is a Mario & Luigi game that depends on your progress, like for example, if you don't help someone, it can come and bite you in the butt, or if you decide to help someone but do nothing about it, they can ignore you and you'll never get to unlock a new item
@@springgaming5873 u get to choose quite a few things that affect the main story + lots of missable side quests with some characters that if u ignore and progress the story will have consequences like missing an item or some flashbacks and backstory of them. Some even open up to you about themselves
@MrCraigLama ah well alright then, I already wanna get the game but unfortunately I have to wait till El Día De Los Reyes Magos, which is basically second Christmas
I think it would be cool if we got unique shroob characters for the side mode. A story about shroobs who defect to live rather than to sustain a monarchy who sees em as numbers. It would fit the army auto battler as you are fighting hordes of enemies and strategizing before hand. Just something more unique than before.
A side mode with unique shroobs would make me go crazy. Maybe they could make them follow the Shroob Commander? That specific Shroob is like the only other higher-up and he shows up for such little time
I feel like this game needs a remake more that BIS. It felt too short and like it was about half of bowsers inside story or dream team and really feels like an early DS game. To the point where it only uses the touchscreen that much. The reason why is because when it was developed
We do need one, or a sequel of it? There are the frozen shroobs in Bowsers castle in BiS and the one in Fawful theater a little before you fight Midbus. We never knew why or how bowser managed to prison the ENTIRE shroob race in a freezer. (Hope you recover soon)
I remember this game being weirdly dark and loving the evolution of the originals fight mechanics. The ability to combo with the x and y buttons made it almost a fun rhythm game. I dont really care either way if they remaster the game (I'll play it if they do or I'll just play the original if they don't) but a new game with the babies, or other way of making the 4 buttons all involved, would be awesome.
Seeing how Acquire did Brothership's story, a lot of what you said doesn't sound so farfetched and honestly feels like they made it that way just to see if there was interest in people being okay with that kind of story direction... ERGO, WE MIGHT ACTUALLY GET ONE IN 2025! (or whenever, game development ain't peachy.)
I could probably answer as to why you don't go to any of the locations you visit in the past in PiT, it most likely would be because of a paradox. The shroob invasion probably never happened in the original timeline, and thus, after the initial event that kicks off the story, time all around the kingdom is getting altered to weather the bros. Win or the shroobs do, thus creating the game that breaks off into it's own timeline altogether
Bowser's Inside Story was always the wrong call for a remake. It was doomed from the start; it was a remake of the highest selling game in the franchise, but the original game was still playable on then-current-gen hardware natively, which meant that only superfans or people very curious about the bonus content would bother to buy a second copy. Partners in Time, conversely, was an obscure early DS title, which sold wayyyyyy fewer copies; it would've been basically new to most of the series' fans! Even if it had failed, it would've been the smarter play
What if we call the remake Partners Across Time and Space? Then a Fawful Game Mode! Perhaps Fawfuls Furious Adventure? I'll write my ideas and use this video as a reference to do not a remake.... A REMASTER of the game
my favorite game of all time i remember 10 year old me being heart broken knowing that my favorite game wouldnt get a remake i have so many ideas on how to improve drastically so i can only imagine what they can come up with
honestly the 2d art for the games before brothership are timeless but i still want a remake just because finding a portable way to play it on something that is not a ds is annoying.
5:35 | The reason the present and future is not affected, is because the timeline is the exact same. They went back in time, not to an alternative timeline. But there is no denying nor confirming that the adult Mario and Luigi was saved by their future at that time in the past. So take it as a consideration, the game is amazing overall despite the flaws. Spent my entire childhood playing, but even in Bowsers Inside story. Mario tells Starlow that Luigi saved the kingdom for the most part, which is what happened at the end of Partners in Time when luigi sits on top of Shroob princesses older sibling. Other than that, you do bring up some good points on flaws that needs a bit of patching and some reworks of the positive mechanics. The Bro items was definitely a no go for me, but it was also okay because of how cool the bros attacks were at that time. Superstar Saga did a better job with bros attacks, using the bros as the actual attack by simply using eachother as a trampoline or as a whack a mole.
as someone who's played partners in time. If they just overhauled the bros items into bros moves and nerfed some of the item/gear combos, the game could be very good. Right now, as it stands, the game is a mixed bag for me.The early game is fun but challenging, then the mid game dials the difficulty up to 11, enemies deal well over 50% of your health in a single attack, and the enemy tells are very awkward and jarring for some enemies, countering can be completely unforgivable for some enemies, especially from the fact the game doesn't prompt you with what you're using to defend yourself with, AND that hammers and jump are mapped to different buttons, some enemies just feel like slot machines of which button you choose to counter with. Then you get past thomp volcano, grind out beans and go to fawful's shop to buy the most brain dead busted gear since the mush badge, free bro's items stack with the quadruple damage, so one bro can just spam bros items like no tomorrow and bosses also just melt against you. And similarly to bowser's inside story, but waaaaay more pronounced here, the bros items aren't balanced in the slightest, they're wayyyy too good, especially in the late game, which is compounded by the gear you can get, mostly because a lot of them are infinites, which while it gives them a very high skill ceiling, the amount you realistically need to do to reach "good enough" to kill bosses in a few turns isn't that high. Everyone says princess shroob and elder princess shroob are some of the hardest bosses in the franchise, but copy and mix flower allow you to hit the damage cap for a single attack very easily, and can take out the final boss, including both phases, very easily. My other criticism is the bros items themselves, they aren't the most original, 5 of them consist of repeatedly jumping on enemies heads, 2 of them are just infinite versions of other bro's attacks you aquire earlier in the game, and the unique ones are just so quickly outclassed by the infinites, that progression can feel like it's all over the place sometimes. The last two stages, at the star road, were some of the least memorable areas in any mario and luigi game I've played, because I breezed through them so quickly, in constrast to the vibrant and engaging mid section of the game. Unlike bowser's inside story and super star saga where the end portion of the game is so memorable. If the remake just fixed some of these issues, it could probably be about even or better than super star saga
I was hoping for a PiT remake on Switch but alas, we get an original game but maybe in the future we’ll finally get what we want. The same can be said with the first Paper Mario title. Please make them happen, Nintendo, Intelligent Systems, and Acquire!
Y’know what would be a good thing for a remake of PiT to do? The complete removal of Shrowser and his boss fight. Now, I’ve never actually played Partners in Time (my only experience with the Mario & Luigi series is Dream Team), but I’ve seen at least a video or two talking about how Shrowser is an underwhelming final boss and that Elder Princess Shroob should’ve taken the role instead. So with that in mind, I came up with how they could handle it in the remake. Have Elder Princess Shroob be the final boss of the game and when her mushroom gets eaten by Bowser, he starts off boasting about how much stronger he’s gotten from it only to immediately get sick from EPS’s mushroom form’s wretched flavor before quickly vomiting out her essence
Shrowser makes me go nuts, it's the most unnecessary boss but it's also kinda sick how it's kinda like a callback to Cackletta's soul. I like your idea though! It makes a lot of sense
@ It does, doesn’t it? And if they really want to keep the Shrowser fight, then maybe they could make it so that Elder Princess Shroob’s spirit fights alongside him instead of being a glorified attack-telegraphing punching bag. Like have her spectral form use attacks from her fight’s second phase while Shrowser provides assists or maybe have some of their attacks be callbacks to the Bowser & Antasma fight in Dream Team; the possibilities of improving the Shrowser fight are endless! Honestly, if they’re gonna try to improve the fight, they should start by making it so that Shrowser allows you to actually fight him instead of reducing the final boss fight to a counterattack marathon.
I wish there was a proper Time Travel Mario and Luigi. I always saw Partners in Time as a more Alien invasion type story, time travel just happened to be there. Like I don’t want to just explore the present and past, but the future. So yeah Partners in Time was a disappointment in terms of the time travel. But yeah I would like to see Partners in Time in the unreal engine brothership style Maybe they can make a direct sequel to Partners in Time called Partners Across Time and they go to the future and not the past this time. Idk 😅
Ummm akshually they 'Destroy'! They say it all the time! But seriously, a remake fixing all or most of the issues with the pacing would be awesome! But i have a feeling that it would be a Bowser Jr. Adventure type of minigame included with the main game to complement the story
As much as i personally despise the bros items system, this game probably has one of the most interesting and dark stories in the entire franchise, and i never quite understood why they skipped this game back when they remade Bowser's Inside Story (Despite BiS being the more "popular" game), and even worse they didn't even give the Shroob fight in BiS the PiT boss theme, really hope this gets remade but not gonna hold my breath about it
The unfortunate thing is... IF they went and made a remake of this game, I highly doubt they would add much. Nintendo usually keeps the remakes pretty faithful to the original, and any NEW content is added onto it in a side mode or as endgame content instead of genuine changes to the main story.
Here's an idea so far for Mario and Luigi Partners Across Time and Space So the Shroobs are ALIENS... The Space part... Why not some of the rifts actually take you to OTHER PLANETS? Perhaps planets Shroobs colonized and/or taken over! Or with your idea of that one Shroob tired of the war, what if he isolates himself on another planet? In this reboot I'm thinking of making like a Prince Shroob to and he could be the antagonist for Fawful in his game mode. In Fawfuls Game Mode I also wish to add how he met Midbus and the Fitness Friends
I don’t want a remake of PiT in the style of Brothership. Superstar Saga and Bowsers inside story had that Dream Team style of last decade. Brothership looks ew.
I really enjoyed this video. I love how you talked about how much you like the game and how it deserves a remake well also acknowledging its flaws. Also I’m really curious what the story of the side mode for the partners in time remake would’ve been. Bowsers minions and Bowser juniors Journey went way harder on their stories than they had any right to and they were the best Mario stories we had gotten in years. So I’m curious what they would’ve done for partners in time
That's very infortunate but if Nintendo dares give attention to this game, that only will be for a 60 $/€ remaster with no fondamental changes on the game I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am
Call me crazy, but a Partners in Time remake instead of a Bowser’s Inside Story remake might’ve saved AlphaDream. Think about it: It’s a much less ambitious game with much more straightforward mechanics, so it probably would’ve been much quicker, easier and more cost efficient to develop. Plus it would’ve gained WAY more press on the basis of being a remake of a less popular game and more time passing since the original’s release. Sure, they figured Bowser’s Inside Story would sell better cause it’s the more popular sequel but look how that turned out. Time and budget issues aside, I think the real killer of the Bowser’s Inside Story remake was that it was exactly what everyone expected. I think a Partners in Time remake would’ve been such a curveball that it would’ve sold way more. Guess we’ll never know though.
I hope they make the partners in time remake 2D unlike brother ship. Not saying there's anything wrong with brotherships artstyle it just won't be true to it's origin. Also there are problems trying to turn 2d sprites and the 2d world into 3d due to depth, and they'll have to redesign many things. It's probably the reason why the two remakes never included some 3d elements like in dream team and paper jam
Regarding the babies, the will be tweaked, modern mario & Luigi games use x for emergency blocking and y was used in paper jam for the 3rd character (paper Mario in that case). This is an inevitable change because they maintained this changes in the remasters. because of that i purpose that the babies should use the button of their respective adult version while they are over them but add the option for them(both at the same time, not just one of them) to dismount and become a 3rd character that act with y and have slightly different dinamics. Also it would be cool if when a baby levels up, the adult version also gets their base stats altered because technically is them doing it in the past.
I want a remake of Partners in Time so bad😭😭😭
Trust me you don’t… I played it and the button mapping is so bad.
@@LandonEmma Isn't that something a remake could fix though?
@@LandonEmma How so? PiT controls no differently from any other M&L game.
@@LandonEmma sounds exactly like what a PiT hater would say, the controls of this game are great, those are the least of it's concern
I 100% agree, not only does it have one of the best Mario and Luigi Villains, and how cute the baby bros interactions with their older selves, I would love seeing all of it in the Brothership style.
It'd be so fun to just LOOK AT. So much expression and fun interactions could make it literally one of the best in the series if remade well
I grew up with this title and none of the others . Never understood the hate.
Same, in fact, It has been the only m&l game until a couple of days ago when I found and bought dream team at a swamp meet
I don't hate the game, I just know it could've been better. My mind is half obsessed with it and the other half wants it to be so much more
not to be mean, but your perspective is skewed if you haven't played the other ones
@@hued2542 that's great and all, but the hate comes from those who can compare PiT with the other entries in the series
Just completely unhinged, goofy, + villain status
the fact that the only complaint i have for partners in time is the minor issue that i didn't like that bros moves were tied to items you buy at a store instead of using bro points says a LOT about how good it was
A shroob slowly getting closer while telling me health tips was not on my November bingo card
I LOVE PARTNERS IN TIME IT'S MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME RRAAAAAAHHHHHHH 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video!! :D
GRAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WE LOVE SHROOBS HERE GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 (Thank you Metallllll :D )
I think the issue with partners in time for modern nintendo is that the themes are "too" dark.
cowards
Idk i think it'd be fine
Brothership's final few hours was suprisingly messed up, best part of the game
@@bup8671 i havent finished the game yet, i will be happily suprised depending on how it is written.
Or because it was a flop and they rather remake the game that actually got selled
Personally it never really bothered me, as the plot of the game is already pretty cool and the small area of peaches castle keeps everything grounded and organized:D
Maybe I’m a bit biased though as partners in time was my introduction to rpg’s as a whole:P
If they remake Partners in Time after Brothership, it's no coincidence that it can and WILL be peak.
Postgame or some kind of DLC should expand on the whole "Bowser has frozen Shroobs in his basement" thing
(I also thought the babies were the future children of Mario and Luigi because I thought it was like that)
*And the childrens of Peach and Bowser, forgot those 2
@@zachtwilightwindwaker596
Well yeah, but that game wasn't out at the time.
1. Yeah I just think more sense of acknowledgement of their existence is needed in the overall world in-game (present-wise)
2. LOL SAME at one point while as a kid I do remember thinking it was like a jr. situation
This game absolutely scared me as a kid and I hope they make a remake.
Partners in time is objectively the best one in the series, shocked they didnt remake it.
The way you talk about everything it feels more like a reimagining than a remake. Your ideas are really interesting, though. Love them!
Imagine if they remade that game using a 3D engine; we could finally see our favorite alien mushrooms in HD and 4K, complete with great cutscenes and funny voice acting, which is basically gibberish.
If they do bring it back they better make it pixelated
Ngl I really enjoyed fighting the bosses with their massive hp pools
to each their own! I never minded it too much but I find it to be a bit ridiculous
I 100% agree! It’s certainly the most unique out of the Mario and Luigi franchise!
@zachtwilightwindwaker596 theres no split time line, is just that a few where capture before they was destroy by the professor
@@zachtwilightwindwaker596I always took this to mean that the baby’s grew up into the BIS bros and that PIT are canonically last in the chronological, so they haven’t fought them as adults
@zachtwilightwindwaker596 becose was a very long time and babys kinda dont remember it and adults are just too old
@@zachtwilightwindwaker596If I remember correctly, they say something along the lines of “those aliens invaded the kingdom when we were babies and we had to fight them,” which is true whether or not they’ve experienced the invasion as adults.
Oh yeah! This game, for SURE deserves a modern remake!
Another thing about the story, a few things actually are
How did the Shroobs survive to appear in BIS and furthermore how did they find Bowser's Castle
Fawful, for years his character has been shrouded in mystery, and considering he is in a game of Time Travel, it'd be nice to get a glimpse on how he became crazy the way he is, how did he meet Midbus or even how did this Fawful lead up to the Fawful we see in BIS. Perhaps a game mode similar to Minions Quest and Bowser's Jr Journey but more refined
I unbiasedly agree. No bias. None. I think Mario and Luigi Partners in Time should be the only game available to humanity tbh.
I hope this video blows up so Nintendo somehow sees this, great great video lad - keep up the great work and excellent thumbnail!
6:42 So basically, you want the game to be like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Great video. you made a lot of great points. and how awsome would it be if fawful came back for the third time and teamed up with the shroobs and then everyone would team up to defeat them like you described.
I had the idea to keep princess peach's Castle as the hub world but instead of having portals to the past directly there you can instead go to the present area of one of the areas you visit in the past and then that is where the portal to the past is, but you can go to any area right off the bat but get blocked off from continuing until the point in the story where you have to go to the past area of that place where then that present area will get affected by the past and open a portal to the past
Example: you can go to the vim factory forest at any time but a certain area is blocked off until you have to go to the past version of it in which the forest will change almost completely to show the effects of the past on the present where then there would be a portal to the past
I want a Paper Jam Bros Remake was my First Mario and Luigi and i love this Game even tho everyone hates it idc
fair enough tbh
I’m pretty sure it said the shroobs were desperate because their planet was dying due to the fact that it had no star.
Perhaps I don't remember that, but either way I feel like a bit of a more in-depth look into their history would be cool. Nothing wrong with a lil more lore, ya know
20:00 or, what if they took the Origami King approach with Bowser's Castle, where you see them battling the enemy shroobs, and you can join their battles to help them out.
either way works! I just think the castle section is a bit underwhelming. Would've loved to have seen more done with it
I’m actually replaying through partners in time at the moment so I would absolutely love a remake for my first and favourite Mario & Luigi game
Nice!! I gotta replay it again. Thankfully my DS and 3DS still work well so I gotta get on that
I'm extremely tempted to email this video to Nintendo of America.
DO IT. DO IT FOR ALL OF US. (Just a joke, no pressure :D)
as some one who has 5 Mario&Luigi games but doesn't have partners in time ( I am asking for it for Christmas ) I can say for certain that this game needs a remake for other people without a 3Ds
Idc what anyone says- Partners in Time is my favorite of the series.
Chill dude mario and luigi brothership just came out !
Joke aside, partners in time is my favorite M&L game, and my first one too. So i 100 % agree
The game you’re describing, I would buy DAY 1
what if as you played the game, Peach's Castle slowly gets more and more distorted the second you return to the present.
(sort of like Sonic CD)
You travel to each area, and can travel to the present versions, and you have to defeat a boss in both the past and the bad future.
Bowser's Elite Minions (the ones we see in Paper Jam (King Boo, King Bob-omb, Petey Piranha, Koopalings, + Elite Trio get captured and mostly appear on the side mode starring Bowser Junior and Kamek.)
The goal of the heroes is to actually rescue Peach, as she was beamed away by the shroobs and taken to their home planet, where their goal is to actually transform her into a Princess Shroob herself, so they can send her back to the mushroom kingdom, and conquer it as one of them.
Absolutely, this game is fricking awesome
I see a remake of M&L: PIT and I wish it gets a remakes, the game has so much potential, and what I would like to see is a Mario & Luigi game that depends on your progress, like for example, if you don't help someone, it can come and bite you in the butt, or if you decide to help someone but do nothing about it, they can ignore you and you'll never get to unlock a new item
this essentially is what happens in brothership lol
@MrCraigLama wait really? I don't have the game yet so I didn't know
@@springgaming5873 u get to choose quite a few things that affect the main story + lots of missable side quests with some characters that if u ignore and progress the story will have consequences like missing an item or some flashbacks and backstory of them. @MrCraigLama ah well alright then, I already wanna get the game but unfortunately I have to wait till El Día De Los Reyes Magos, which is basically second Christmas

youre so right.... ive been waiting for a remake for this game for years
They should remake the way on how to get bros moves. Like, this is the only game that is item based instead of using bros points
That specific Shroob is like the only other higher-up and he shows up for such little time
It deserved it WAY more than BIS, let’s be honest here. What I wouldn’t have given for a 3DS remake…
The Toads went to Paper Jam dude XD
pffft true
Finally found someone else with the same opinion as me on here. I have hope with Partners In Time remake now with Brithership being released.
The game deserves MORE than a 60 dollar 30fps Demaster
I love partners in time and I definitely didn’t think about it. That would be really good to change the past with the present and vice versa.
I loved your suggestions! I feel like a lot of forst party nintendo games really lack good story
What if we call the remake Partners Across Time and Space? Then a Fawful Game Mode! Perhaps Fawfuls Furious Adventure?
I'll write my ideas and use this video as a reference to do not a remake.... A REMASTER of the game
my favorite game of all time
i remember 10 year old me being heart broken knowing that my favorite game wouldnt get a remake
i have so many ideas on how to improve drastically so i can only imagine what they can come up with
honestly the 2d art for the games before brothership are timeless but i still want a remake just because finding a portable way to play it on something that is not a ds is annoying.
I think I'm the first one to think this. I guess I'm not alone now
5:35 | The reason the present and future is not affected, is because the timeline is the exact same.
I already knew it was partners in time but still watched anyways
i am a proud owner of the game cartridge, I have played several times on my ds and would love a remake
as someone who's played partners in time.
I love it and i love it even more that this is game is released on my exact birthday
You are, in fact, a Shroob
confirmed
I wish there was a proper Time Travel Mario and Luigi. I always saw Partners in Time as a more Alien invasion type story, time travel just happened to be there.
Like I don’t want to just explore the present and past, but the future.
So yeah Partners in Time was a disappointment in terms of the time travel.
But yeah I would like to see Partners in Time in the unreal engine brothership style
Maybe they can make a direct sequel to Partners in Time called Partners Across Time and they go to the future and not the past this time. Idk 😅
A proper or direct sequel to Partners that focusses on the time travel aspect would be wild, at this point I'll take anything lol
@ yeah. I hope we get a proper time travel game with ML7
Ummm akshually they 'Destroy'! They say it all the time!
But seriously, a remake fixing all or most of the issues with the pacing would be awesome!
But i have a feeling that it would be a Bowser Jr. Adventure type of minigame included with the main game to complement the story
As much as i personally despise the bros items system, this game probably has one of the most interesting and dark stories in the entire franchise, and i never quite understood why they skipped this game back when they remade Bowser's Inside Story (Despite BiS being the more "popular" game), and even worse they didn't even give the Shroob fight in BiS the PiT boss theme, really hope this gets remade but not gonna hold my breath about it
Imagine how dark this game would be on the big screen cuz the game itself is pretty effed up
The unfortunate thing is... IF they went and made a remake of this game, I highly doubt they would add much. Nintendo usually keeps the remakes pretty faithful to the original, and any NEW content is added onto it in a side mode or as endgame content instead of genuine changes to the main story.
Here's an idea so far for Mario and Luigi Partners Across Time and Space
So the Shroobs are ALIENS...
Maybe not a remake but maybe a retake on the game from scratch making it a whole new game
I don’t want a remake of PiT in the style of Brothership. Superstar Saga and Bowsers inside story had that Dream Team style of last decade. Brothership looks ew.
I agree that it deserves a remake.
hell yeah
I really enjoyed this video. I love how you talked about how much you like the game and how it deserves a remake well also acknowledging its flaws. Also I’m really curious what the story of the side mode for the partners in time remake would’ve been. Bowsers minions and Bowser juniors Journey went way harder on their stories than they had any right to and they were the best Mario stories we had gotten in years. So I’m curious what they would’ve done for partners in time
I’ll take a collection of all 5 of games tbh
My fav Game of all time
cool video! Just wondered why you choose Superstar Saga gameplay and not Partners in Time?
Easy to record for NSO. I don't have an emulator for DS nor the rom for Partners
That's very infortunate but if Nintendo dares give attention to this game, that only will be for a 60 $/€ remaster with no fondamental changes on the game
I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am
Emergency block can be. L r or l2 or r2
That thumbnail is cool
