      MaxSpeed i would not worry about that. I’m sure they are well built. Remember this is the engine from the new Ford GT which costs $500K. It’s well built. Turbo engines are usually built stronger than regular naturally aspirated engines, so as long as they are maintained properly, they'll run for a long time. Consider the new Ford Ranger Ecoboost, even it comes with forged internals from the factory. I’m sure the engine in this truck and the GT has even more enhancements.

    I bought my 2019 Raptor 2 weeks ago with for $50,775. Its an 800a base truck with cloth seats but it is still a raptor. I don't have the heated and cool seats, the recaros, or any of the fancy driving assist this truck has but i do have the same engine/tranny, same rear end, same Fox live valve shocks, and the same badass styling of the 802a trucks. You CAN get a raptor for a good bargain, if, you can live without all the extras this truck offers. As far as the ecoboost, I have a 2013 mustang coyote with long tubes if I want to hear a v8, this 3.5 eco is smooth and has a lot of power

It'd be a great second vehicle, but being annoyed ever time I go anywhere with a busy parking lot would get old really fast. And I legitimately need something that can at least fit down your average desert trail, and I'm worried this just won't.

    Does the extra width make the Raptor a handful or is the F150 just a cumbersome truck? I'm on the fence between the F150 and Tacoma, I know its apples and oranges but you've driven both recently.

    • @AkioWasRight
      @AkioWasRight 5 лет назад +5

      If you're looking for a grocery getter, yes. It easily fills up a space and sometimes part of another. When you're out on the road, you have to keep focus on not clipping curbs and keeping in lane. The thing is just so wide. Still, it's not impossible to live with, it's just something you'll have to get used to.
      As for the Tacoma, the automatic in the Tacoma sucks. If you're interested in one, ask to test drive one on the highway and find out what I'm talking before you make a decision. But, if you're into manual transmissions, then the Tacoma is a riot, especially the TRD Pro. If I'm looking for an off-road toy, that would be what I would get.

    • @MattMaranMotoring
      @MattMaranMotoring  5 лет назад +2

      It’s the Raptor’s extra width that makes it tough. A regular F-150 isn’t cumbersome. Tacoma is a great truck but the automatic in it annoys me still. Between the two I prefer the regular F-150. But the new RAM is the best truck on the market currently in my opinion.

    • @dlovesboost72
      @dlovesboost72 5 лет назад

      @@AkioWasRight no matter which I choose it would be an automatic (I'll leave the manual for my sports car) I'm just wondering if the F150 in standard crew cab 4x4 is really that much more of a PITA to drive and park than the Tacoma

    • @AkioWasRight
      @AkioWasRight 5 лет назад +6

      @Frank Crooker No at all. Rams are heavily incentivized, but they hold their value well after sale. My Ram is 6 years old and around 100,000 miles, and it's still worth most of I paid for it. As for reliability, I mean, yeah, it's not a Toyota, but so what... I've only had one issue with a front diff leak cause by a bad pinion seal. All was cover by warranty. Other than that, it's not had any problems. If I had known that before buying, I would gladly do it all over again. Of course, that's just my experience, but, really, people make too much of a fuss about reliability. Even the lesser reliable vehicles these days are not problematic.

    From all your testing. You should know that the V8 will be reduced to hit government regulations. That's why the Raptor has a 3.5, 450 horsepower Ecoboost to continue developing the EcoBoost. The basis of this engine is already proven. That's why the F-150 is reducing the 5.0 because the EcoBoost is what customers are buying. Hyundai Genesis just announced they are dropping the V8 from their luxury line up. I'm a big fan of the V8 engine but the future isn't V8 engines. Without the Hemi. The Charger would be just an average sedan. I can't imagine not hearing the rumble of a 5 0 Coyote Mustang GT or a 5.2 GT350. But the future Is EV and hybrids. I really doubt that the V8 will ever make it back in the Raptor or that Ford will ever produce a performance pickup truck like the Lightning at least with a V8 engine. You are testing an off road vehicle, not a Shelby. the Raptor isn't designed to go around curves it's designed to go over things found off-road. Your Compairing the Raptor to a similar priced luxury vehicle. That's Apple and oranges. The Raptor can be optioned as a luxury truck, but can do things a regular luxury truck could never do. From what you had to say. It appears your not a Raptor fan. A lot of negatives while recommending purchasing an extended warranty.. You know it not for everyone, but for those that own them. They love them. Would I purchase a Raptor? As great as it is. It's not on my purchase list. Do I like the Raptor? Of course. I think it's a fantastic well-designed monster of a truck. But for me. It's Just to much truck for my daily driver.

      To me, a raptor is my dream car/truck. Over anything else you could throw my way, from audi, to porsche/ferrari to bugatti. I have no interest in fancy supercars (2019 m5 competition may be a look in though lol), i want to drive a vehicle, that where i live in southern Italy will soak up the shit roads, has room for 5 comfortably, or throw my dogs in the rear seats, some gear in the bed and go to the mountains. Considering what i drive now, this is the epitome of luxury lol. People complain over v6 vs v8, i'm english, if it goes, and faster than what you currently drive then it's a winner. Waiting for that lottery win though as these in the UK are pushing $110,000 when converted currency. And regarding the looks, i think as far as trucks go, it looks clean as hell. Not over done SQUARE wheel arches ( whats the deal with that), no weird hoods that look completely out of place with the rest of the truck, as far as proportions go, it's bang on in my opinion.
