My dad used to play Diablo and we would try to play with him. He passed many years ago and I cant help but smile watching this remembering watching him play.
When I was 15, I decided to get all my savings out and buy a brand new Pentium 133 PC. Cost me a fortune, around £1400, and when I picked it up and brought it back, I stopped at a magazine shop and got a copy of PC Zone. On the cover CD was a demo of Diablo. I'd never heard of Diablo. This was also my first Windows 95 PC, my old 486 was running Dos 6.22. I spent the next week playing that Diablo demo over and over. Amazing game for its time.
@@semicharmedlife311 Back when Blizzard were a creative powerhouse. Definitely influential and responsible for cementing a new genre. Nobody saw Diablo coming. From Warcraft : Orcs Vs Humans to Starcraft II : Wings of Liberty, definitely one of the best game developers on Earth. ALL DOWNHILL from there, though! :D
I've definitely put more hours into this demo, the Age of Empires 2 demo, and the Jedi Knight demo than I have a lot of games. Especially AoEII, that was such an incredible demo.
Remember playing the same demo from PC Zone the first thing that struck me about the game was the amazing and haunting music Tristan’s theme and how amazing the game was
@@okee9 Yeah Diablo oozed atmosphere. The 64k colours, directdraw accelerated SVGA graphics, art direction, great soundtrack and sound design ... really showcased what Windows 95 could do in gaming. I liked how the demo was basically infinitely replayable because of the random map algorithm, so you could just play through those first three levels over and over again. I hung on to DOS for a few years, certain titles (Tombraider, Quake, Carmageddon, Screamer 2, etc) were just faster in DOS without the Windows overhead. But you couldn't have done Diablo in DOS. And as more and more developers started to take advantage of DirectX, and as people started getting more RAM for their systems, Windows was the way to go.
I want to like a lot of content creators but many of them make it so difficult. They don't edit their scripts, they mispronounce common words, stumble through sentences, use incorrect language, etc. This video was a real breath of fresh air - clear, confident speech and language with a good flow for storytelling. Great work! You earned a like :))
I actually love Diablo 1. I like the fact that it all takes place in one cathedral that burrows it's way all the way down to hell. It's super claustrophobic which adds to the terror and creepiness.
@@overkill_716 even the much inferior Lord of The Rings : The Two Towers game for the ps2 (which I honestly thoroughly enjoy) has a tower/dungeon level which is by far the best level in the game
@@overkill_716 Yeah, underrated as Hell. Specialy the Game Mechanics and Control Schemes of the Skills. I heard that CAPCOM is working on the DD:DS 2 right after they've finished DMC:V. Hope they release it sooner...
Diablo 1 was a master piece, it wasn't just a arpg hack and slash. It was a forbodding horror, the music created a world of fear.. it was truely a piece of it's time, the likes of which I believe we will never see again.
@@nicholasbailey4524 because after D2 blizzard NORTH split up. The majority of the people responsible for the characteristics, design, music, and overall personality and flavor of the older games (D1/D2, Starcraft/Brood Wae etc) left.
@@abeartheycallFozzy Yes, Diablo was made by Condor Games. Absorbed by Blizzard and renamed Blizzard North. Immediately tasked with implementing Diablo Battlenet. Blizzard was then absorbed by Sierra (who tasked an unrelated subsidiary with the Diablo Hellfire expansion while also putting the core "Condor group" in charge of making Diablo 2. But the time Diablo 3 was in development (and Blizzard had changed hands over and over again, ending up owned by Vivendi), most of the "Condor group" had already abandoned the company. The few who remained became the "do you guys not have phones?" shills, they make presentations intended to appeal to investors instead of to gamers.
Found this today after getting a character to 20 in Diablo 4's beta. I didn't get the chance to grow up with these games, so I really am glad this video exists. Your love for the story really shows through.
@@DarkLOREDash I found it really fun. I played sorcerer on my own and am running a necromancer with my friends, finding the different synergies with the skills is really fun for me. And the loot gremlin in me is incredibly delighted. A lot of my friends have played the other games and the thing I hear most is that everyone is happier with it than they were with 3. (My most similar game played would be Torchlight 2, but it's been a really long while, so this was mostly fresh to me, aside from a single night trying but failing to adjust to Diablo 2's controls)
It's better than anything that's come out in the last decade. Video games have become absolute trash. I doubt Diablo 4 would be much better than 3, which felt completely out of place to 1 & 2.
@@Smutter Haven't played or know anything about either of those games but to hazard a guess I'd rate Diablo 1 & 2 higher than them just based on the fact that they're newer games. I haven't bothered with anything after 2011, games have degraded in almost every single way aside from graphics & production.
Man, I still remember reading and rereading multiple times all the lore for the character classes, weapon and armor classes, and bestiary from the original manual of this game. PC games from that era generally had a lot of creative production in their instruction manuals. It's one thing I truly miss today.
People got dumber, attention spans got shorter, developers got lazier, publishers got greedier. Don't forget, the initiative to turn everything digital, which is more a trojan horse to ensure nobody actually owns their own software.
this stuff is still there, but people realised they could sell this for money. so now you get artbooks with ingame lore and monsters etc in these deluxe/collectors edition's
Holy hell mate, I can't even fathom the amount of work that went into this. You've basically adapted the game into an audio book and I could not have found it more entertaining!! Thank you so much. D3 is nowhere near as good a game as the first two, but I hope a D3 video is coming soon!! Great work!!
You're right it's not as good, it's better. There's so much fun to have in all the different builds and seasons to play. It's a better game with friends. I really can't see how people play the old D1 and D2. There's never anything new.
@@serpent7051 I can’t speak for D1 since I’ve never played it, but 2 still feels infinitely better. I first played it around the time it came out, so some of that is nostalgia, but playing through Resurrected, I’m just being reminded of the quality vs 3. Not to say I haven’t put hundreds of hours into 3 and had a blast, but if has such an arcade feel to it, which doesn’t fit for me.
"Perhaps the man most acquainted with liquid in town: Farnam the Drunk has some words of wisdom on the matter." "YoU drInK WAter?" "Touché." Always makes me laugh.
I love that every encounter is a story, you’ve really outdone yourself with this and thank you for taking all that time to make this amazing lore video!
I really like you included a small adventure with the rogue character in this story recap. Canonically, all three heroes arrived in Tristram at some point I believe, though the warrior was the one to actually slay Diablo. If I remember correctly the wizard didn't arrive until after Diablo was defeated and left the town quickly. The warrior became the Dark Wanderer, the rogue Blood Raven, and the wizard the Summoner. Anyway, wonderful video!
I have no idea why RUclips suddenly started recommending this, but damn im glad it did. Ive played this game for countless hours, and i must say, The amount of work and effort put into this vid is something to applaud. Truly, well done good sir. Well done.
I can remember actually being scared when I first opened Diablo for the first time. It was EVIL in a game...and I LOVED IT! So much fun and nothing ever like it up to that point.
@@DarkLOREDash After watching a few video about diablo 2-3-4 yesterday it recommand me this this morning. I'm planning to watch the entire video at work while I wait for call.
Thanks for the effort, great way to experience Diablo 1 in all it's glory without having to wrestle it myself. Good job on balancing your storytelling and gameplay, was a joy to watch!
This is incredible, a play through, turned into a story, narrated by someone with an obvious knack for storytelling. I’ve never seen anything like this, I never thought anyone would make something like this, for a game like this. Fantastic job man, incredible.
If you want similar videos like this, I can also recommend the channel Tiptoe the Tank (Lady of the Lore). She also narrates game lore like it's a book. Amazing.
As a boy I was playing Diablo 1 with my father. We're german, so our understanding of the game was somewhat basic and I strongly remember how frustrated I was being, because my father couldn't tell me about the story of the game. Thank you for filling that void in my heart!
I can still recite the Wounded Townsman's speech verbatim to this day, 20+ years after I stopped playing D1 with my dad and we started playing D2 together. We had very different personalities and would frequently argue, but when it was time for Diablo we'd always be able to work together on the same team. Good times.
Thank you so much for this! I would sit on my dad's desk pressing his hot keys for him during battle when this came out. I think I was around 7? A few years later when he gave me his old PC, my first computer, this was one of the games he gave me. So many fond memories of this game! Hearing the voice acting really takes me back
So many modern games tempt you with hyper realistic graphics, but D1 is the true testimony of story and atmosphere being the most important aspects of unforgetable game.
I really enjoyed the storytelling aspect of this rather then just a standard play through. I don’t know that it would work for many games. But it worked great here.
Wow. I can't imagine how much time and effort went into this. Your story telling and voice acting is next level. You have taken this classic and breathed new life into it. I love all of the cut quests being included, half of them I didn't even know existed! Seriously, I can't say enough good things about this. I only wish the Diablo sequels could capture the dark and morbid atmosphere of the original.
@@AcornFox Diablo 2 had some genuine scares. Andariel was probably the scariest for me, but nothing like the butcher or diablo himself in diablo 1. It is a shame people don't really speak of diablo 1... D2 overshadows it because it is admittedly overall a much more replayable game, with vastly superior multiplayer.
Every once and awhile, you come across a channel that just absolutely blows you away. Thanks for this one, Dark LORE Dash. The way you tied storylines and gameplay together is impressive and you can literally sense the enjoyment and passion while we listen. Great job! 🤠
"The sanctity of this place has been fouled" Is what I say when I use the bathroom after someone else pooped. Also how many people sat there and made that blue fallen say "You Kill Uglies" over and over again? I know i did.
This is exactly the type of video I always try and find for so many early games in a series. One that shows in game quests and dialog and allows us to experience the entire game without playing it. Albeit it for Diablo 1 I have played it but I wish he did these videos for lots more games.
I think a lot of people either forget or never realized that despite being a fantasy RPG, Diablo 1 was also very much a horror game. It was a brutal, demanding game that would eat you alive (literally) if you charged in unprepared. Sometimes I miss the more methodical nature of the first game compared to the more arcade-like feel of the newer games.
This game scared the hell out of me as a kid. A friend let me try it out, and the first thing I run into is some guy laying outside the cathedral, and I just hear him laugh quietly and go, "Yeah!" The Butcher freaked me out; I hadn't seen that much gore in a game. People thought the game was evil bc of devil imagery (there was still a bit of a satanic panic going on) and rallied against it.
@@TheDrLeviathan the Satanic panic people are dumb. You're literally fighting against evil. That's pretty moral of you. At least, on a very superficial level. And yet they didn't even get that right.
I would play this game with headphones on in the middle of the night in pitch black other than my screen's glow. Every now and then I'd remove my headphones and glance around my room, just in case...
When I was a teenager... seeing any Blizzard cutscenes like this was a profound experience. Back then CGI didn't really look this good in films. So it was truly an amazing experience to see
Yes Diablo Warcraft and starcraft cut scenes were so jaw dropping to me and my friends and siblings. Always would yell for the others to come running and watch when someone got to one lol.

@@TheThreeStorms Indeed. It also shows you can do horror right, without jump scares or anything. D1 and 2 were, for me as a kid, some of the scariest games out there. The pure concept of descending into dark catacombs, fighting horrible monstrosities, it gave me nightmares.
I remember truly being scared to play the game, however the call of the dungeon crawling, and lore made it addictive. It was genuinely creepy. I remember feeling a chill with the drunkards tale. But once the last man out of the cathedral gave me his last words I knew, the butcher must die by my hand. Funny enough, I managed to get him stuck behind the stair case and just nailed him with arrows. Felt good man.
2:56:19 No, what Adria basically said with "Do not let the sands of time confuse your search" is that you should use your head when searching for the treasure and not follow the map zealously because time changes the landscape. The game establishes that the map is not entirely correct. Where a single tree that once marked the path of the treasure could be a forest now.
Damnit, coming back to this game like 25 years later after playing it with 12/13 for the first time, I am amazed how scary, shocking and depressing it actually is. I did not realize it back then...
This game is the best the D saga. The atmosphere, the music, the gothic theme, the writting. Everything is spot on. Such good memories playing this the original D and Hellfire. So sad games like these will never be made again.
This was a wonderfull audiobook on my drive down to my friend. Reminiscing in the memories of this game and feeling a nostalgia again by a really enjoyable way of beeing told the story of the protagonist. You did a great job of filling this old game and tale with life again. Wonderfully done! Great job in narrating the ways of a soon to be corrupted warrior. Loved it! ❤
Now it seems so stiff and odd, but back then I was shooting baddies left and right. Beat Diablo with a bow, he wasn't that hard even. The fun is getting to him. I remember getting that sweet armor from a quest. I kinda liked everyone could use spells, though they become so expensive as you train as a fighter.
Haha I thought I recognized your name... I thought to myself, didn't I watch videos from him when I bought my first motorcycle? Weird that I see you on here haha . I loved this game , it's a bit different in this than when I played...the butcher quest was a bit different. Also I didn't see xp numbers after killing monsters..

I swear you could get a job with Audible and ide sign up just to listen to your stories!
This will happen in the original version if you start a new game. If you play the Belzebub Mod the quest throughout the difficulty-level will be gone. This goes for every quest. You can still enter the realm but you won't get another special item from it.
everyone is worried about the water when they literally have a whole stream of blue water on the way to adria. all the villagers gotta do is walk 20 paces and get clean water lol.
The story for D1 really is unparalleled. It's almost like D1 is the main story and all the sequels are just epilogues to the main events that are D1. I think it has to do with the fact that the cast is so small and you get to know them so well. There are recurring characters in 2-4 for sure, including some who stick with you on your journey, but none of the games connected me with the supporting cast as much as D1 since you have to talk to them so much and they are always the ones helping you out, as opposed to splitting the supporting cast up between acts.
D1 definitely feels like a more self-contained game than it's sequels. The location plays a big part too. If the other games had stayed in one location, rather than exploring several wildernesses/lands, they might have had a similar feeling. But I agree, sometimes when I go back to D1, it seems like the sequels are just epilogues or spin-offs.
I just want to say, thank you for existing. Thank you for doing these videos. They're always so entertaining and well-told. It's wonderful to see someone so passionate about this awesome series. You really are keeping my love for the lore alive
D1 is unbeatable. You can only like d2 more if you weren’t lucky enough to play d1 when it came out ;P (don’t get me wrong, I love d2 too but to this day I still find d1 better in every aspect, it’s so.. Diablo)

Such a beautiful and nostalgic journey back to a happier place for me. Thank you for going through the herculean task of creating such a gem of a video. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
I've watched this a handful of times already. Just got my wisdom teeth out though, and this has been a great listen as I'm here recovering. You've done a great job converting one of my favorite game series into what is essentially a series of audio books, thank you.
D1 has the best atmosphere by far. I get goosebumps recognizing some of these voices and stories of a game I played 20+ years ago. But it's amazing how much of a technological difference is between d1 and d2, not just looks but d2 is a LOT more playable (and i mean even before d2r was playable if you looked past the graphics).
This game was a huge addiction for me back when I had my ps1. Also my granddad had this property that he rented and this guy rented it to run his videogame and arcade store. I had permission to play for free and I would spend most of my time there playing Diablo and the Jackie Chan game. That guy was cool as hell.
I have finally figured out what i love about your videos, you focus only on the roleplay of your character, you do not use any perspective other than that of a visualized narration of your experience, i have even notice your description of game mechanics in those narration, and you do a great and fantastic job making something simple as this feel fantastical in nature, I love this, take, and i would like to see more of it.
the reason i always loved d1 so much in comparison to the other ones is that this one felt more focused on horror and being scary. i know that being an old game and the first one it meant the gameplay was going to be more limited next to the upcoming titles, but i felt that they focused way too much on making a more flashy and fantasy based hack and slash than a more raw scary experience
Ikr. D2 and D3 its just running around and killing everything on sight. D1 forces you to slowpaced gameplay you can see the details in the map, the mobs lurking in the dark. Etc
If you want a "more raw scary experience" go watch a horror movie, not play a game from the 90's or 00's. This game is so old and CGI is so advanced now that this is childs play. it's a game meant to be enjoyed, not a survival horror game like Amnesia or Last of Us.
@@growingoaks not the same genre of game. We are not talking about a "horror" games that only use jump scare. D1 was a rpg that has a rich lore, modern with a lot CGI with life like graphics doesnt make the game good. Idk how old are you but we old gamers saw the evolution of gaming from the beginning and something was lost in the process. Not for all games but for most of them there is very noticeable lack of soul
Yeah D2 kinda fell short on the mood, but made up for it with the bevy of technical upgrades and a longer game with more replay value when compared to d1. Then when D3 came out it was shined up graphically, but felt dumbed down to me and I very quickly lost interest. I bought it but didn't even play through it once.
With the excitement of d2r on the horizon, im scouring to sharpen my appreciation of the series and your content is the pinnacle. Thank you so much for the work that went into this. Unique of course, but absolutely an excellent way to blend story and gameplay to create the true feel of the game as to not deny the strength of games as a story telling medium. Thank you for this and for adding to the preservation of a game I do not foresee doing great as technology moves further ahead from it.
I've already watched this entire video, but I still come back to it because of your story telling. There are no smartass remarks, no dirty jokes, nothing to take away from the experience. I've watched this video and the Diablo 2 video of the lore and everytime you come to a new mission it's taken as if it's from our own perspective. While I don't mind a good joke here and there, you kept the atmosphere perfectly for this story and for that I thank you. It's not easy being able to do that, but I know that between all of the videos that you made to make this 4 hour long work of art, you made me want to find a copy of this game and play if for myself. Now that I'm older and wiser, and understand how the game is supposed to be played. Again, thank you for the wonderful story telling.

Thanks for this. I actually went back and did a play through because of this vid. I hadn't realized that I never played diablo through legit, since the entire online game was flooded with duped hacked items. It was a very enjoyable experience to watch this and actually play the game the way it was meant to be played
Gotta give it to you, the way you told the story made it very enthralling, and that's not even factoring in all the editing. You're one hell of a story teller. Loved this video so much this is my second time back 😂
Appreciate the effort thrown into making this coherent. It's really interesting to see what was cut and what wasn't. Some stuff makes total sense while others I find strange in their removal.
It's interesting to me how the cut content from D1 that ended up being part of D2 don't feel as important and impactful in D2 as they would have in D1 had they been left in. Your storytelling is top notch, by the way.
Love your content this time!:) Letting the dialogs and cutscenes speak for themselves and use your narration to glue the gameplay between it in there was a smart move. Makes it easy to follow along chronologically with the story.
I was a teenager in highschool when I played this game... my dad played the most, while I sucked at it playing as a rogue who always died and dropped all equipment on the floor~😅 I had no idea the story was so scary and sad back then, nor was I aware of how deep the lore and how long the story of Diablo was... now that I look back at it, this game was a masterpiece ahead of its time, the deep story, the voice acting, the whole Diablo universe is so big. Thanks so much for making this video and telling this story!!
This is great, I am lucky enough to remember when the Diablo series released, I was a young kid. I never picked up the series, but now that DII is rereleased I have the opportunity to jump into this crazy world. Now with your amazing walk through of DI, I feel like I'm up to speed, and instantly addicted! Thanks!
What?!?! There's so much story and lore that was cut! Especially those last few quests. The game makes so much more sense now! I always thought there was stuff missing..
Ya same, I played that game for some years as a kid, watched my dad try it when it first came out and when hellfire update came and added the hive. Good video, but there were some differences noted, like the begining in town there is an extra character added and two chests in town that were never there, oh and yes there were quite a few quests left out that add bits to the story and the lore, like what happened to the kings son etc....and the ending hope this doesn't spoil it, where your character puts the soulstone in his own forehead and begins the diablo 2 story sort of. This game is a classic, one of the better looking old-school games, the textures and the artwork for the monsters was awesome, almost felt like they went down a step for number 2 and 3....it just feels more horror and monster movie in the first diablo, so much so ypu forget how slow your character "ran" or the fact that the village has a well that is tainted, but no one mentions that till you ask Cain. Loved Farnham, never really could understand that babling phrase, can't a guy sit and have a drink.
Diablo 1 has an amazing atmosphere and storyline. I still remember literally being scared to move in D1, fearing what would await me at the next dark corner. Diablo 2 lost the darkness, atmosphere and relevance of story, but was a thousand times more deep in terms of gameplay - amazing items, runewords, gems, drops, farming, skill trees, fun builds.... also, amaaazing PvP. Diablo 3... I literally can't think of a single good thing in D3. Maybe that fact that gold was auto-pick up? I'm not even joking, that's the best thing I can think of atm. Neither close at all to D1's atmosphere, nor to D2's amazing complexity of items and builds and gameplay. Blizzard really is just a dead company standing on the shoulders of the geniuses that created games like Diablo, WoW, WC and SC decades ago.
Absolutely fantastic job on everything you do bro, you have a true talent for this that is obviously fueled by your love for these games that some people just dont understand. The legend that is Diablo started for me the day I purchased Starcraft and acquired a demo version of Diablo and the rest as they say.. is legend. Glad to see someone with such love for these games and the lore with them that hold special places in my heart. Been rocking blizzard games since warcraft 1. I remember playing the shareware version of Diablo back in college. Upgrading my parents computer and getting a cable to connect two PCs was one of my first computer build projects. Not only that but my PC was in the basement, in a small guest room, I would power on the game and go back upstairs for snacks only to come down as the Diablo laugh on the launcher was coming on. Since it was a long staircase into a dark basement I would always pause and think, "do I really want to walk down there? With that?" This video was a real trip down memory lane.
when i was really young (like seriously i think i was 7 or 8) my dad showed me this game on his PC and even though i was absolutely terrified of some parts of it, i loved it. recently i remembered it's existence, and wanted to see if what i could remember was true- and to be honest a lot of it holds up to my memory. amazing work!
You are an astouding human being for making this. Not only that, but your voice is perfectly fit to do this narration for this visual audio-book you've created. I'd never been interested in Diablo 1 but now I'm fascinated.
Bro, you are an incredible storyteller, and a gifted writer. I've played this game more than any other game on earth, but you brought such a great perspective on it with an adequate blend of 1st & 3rd person pov. The experience you offered was so immersive, that I can't be the only one that felt like I was playing the game right alongside you. Exemplary orchestration both visually, as well as audibly. I don't like walkthroughs for story because they usually don't talk to every single NPC between events but you did it dude. You actually did it.
For all-time, arguably, as it set the standard for an entire genre of games (action RPGs). Diablo II then redefined that standard.
You know the storytelling is next level when you’re not even watching the screen but the voiceover paints vivid pictures. Great video

I actually love Diablo 1. I like the fact that it all takes place in one cathedral that burrows it's way all the way down to hell. It's super claustrophobic which adds to the terror and creepiness.

Man, I still remember reading and rereading multiple times all the lore for the character classes, weapon and armor classes, and bestiary from the original manual of this game.
I wouldn’t say D1 was a horror game. It’s still very much a dark fantasy rpg. Just a bit more slow and methodical and less action.
This game scared the hell out of me as a kid. A friend let me try it out, and the first thing I run into is some guy laying outside the cathedral, and I just hear him laugh quietly and go, "Yeah!" 2:56:19 No, what Adria basically said with "Do not let the sands of time confuse your search" is that you should use your head when searching for the treasure and not follow the map zealously because time changes the landscape.

This was really amazing to see just how much cut content there was, you just have to wonder how much cut content other games have had.
the reason i always loved d1 so much in comparison to the other ones is that this one felt more focused on horror and being scary. i know that being an old game and the first one it meant the gameplay was going to be more limited next to the upcoming titles, but i felt that they focused way too much on making a more flashy and fantasy based hack and slash than a more raw scary experience
Never before have I found a Diablo lore video that kept me as engaged as this one! Very well done my friend, and I'm excited to watch your videos for Diablo 2 & 3
Thank you so much!
Excellent work, man. This probably took a while to put together, especially with cut content. Thanks :)
As 4-5 years old kid i was very scared of this game... But in the end i overcome my fears until i faced The Butcher... i remember i instantly alt+f4 the game for whole weak... Preparing to face him and when i got the courage to open the game and beat him i felt soo brave and powerful.. Ohh glorious times when Diablo games were actually good!
3 got better immortal sucks but 4 actually looks promising so far iv not seen anything about loot boxes lets hope it stays that way
@@chrisdobbins4436 4 is p2w
@@234234234werrrrrrr your thinking of immortal 4 is not out yet its not a cell title its a pc console only
I was about the same age.. and I remember thinking he was just kinda bad ass.. you sound like you were coddled as a child 😏
@@chrisdobbins4436 yes but if you see what the developpers are saying they are obviously lying by omission because they are afraid explicitly stating so will receive backlash
Probably the best lore video on RUclips so far, does not matter the game itself, this is a real piece of art, a shame indeed that there are not sub for this...
Thanks for this. I actually went back and did a play through because of this vid. I hadn't realized that I never played diablo through legit, since the entire online game was flooded with duped hacked items. It was a very enjoyable experience to watch this and actually play the game the way it was meant to be played
Oh awesome, thank you & glad you enjoyed it!
Gotta give it to you, the way you told the story made it very enthralling, and that's not even factoring in all the editing. You're one hell of a story teller. Loved this video so much this is my second time back 😂
Thank you very much for the kind words!
Appreciate the effort thrown into making this coherent.
It's really interesting to see what was cut and what wasn't. Some stuff makes total sense while others I find strange in their removal.
Awesome job.
Ive played D1 on PSX, back in 1998 or 1999. I am still a Diablo player to this day, 38yo.
This video is something else ... Thank you!!!
It's interesting to me how the cut content from D1 that ended up being part of D2 don't feel as important and impactful in D2 as they would have in D1 had they been left in. Your storytelling is top notch, by the way.
I love the narrative that ties it all together. Great job!
Thank you!
Thanks so much for making this video and telling this story!!
your storytelling throughout this was really what made this so enjoyable. Great job!
My pleasure, thank you!
Wow this was really impressive Dash! Well done!
Thanks man!

Thanks!
After 24 years I decided to see Diablo 1 lore after playing 2 for decades. Love seeing the backstory of items and people! Poor wirt!
Blizzard really is just a dead company standing on the shoulders of the geniuses that created games like Diablo, WoW, WC and SC decades ago.
sad but true
Yup
Absolutely fantastic job on everything you do bro, you have a true talent for this that is obviously fueled by your love for these games that some people just dont understand. The legend that is Diablo started for me the day I purchased Starcraft and acquired a demo version of Diablo and the rest as they say.. is legend. Glad to see someone with such love for these games and the lore with them that hold special places in my heart. Been rocking blizzard games since warcraft 1. Wished they still put such attention to detail like they used to, but that was a different era of majesty. Still have my original books/manuals that came with Diablo, Starcraft, and Warcraft. SUPER thrilled to of found you and this channel last year. Keep the lore alive brother! ..until next time traveler. 😁
Oh my. I don't know for how long i'm subscribe but one thing i know is that i completly missed thoses videos on Diablo.
Great work so far, that brings back memories !
WOW -- just wow! I played this the day it released way back when -- I even setup a LAN for my little brother and me to play together.
_This was as close as I will ever get to reliving those days - Thanks so much for this!_ (subbed)
My pleasure, mate!
I love how that merchant keeps creeping in on your conversations in Tristram, and hovers awkwardly while you're discussing quests. :))
Who is the merchant? I can't remember him in the game
He's added by the Belzebub mod. I think he's meant to be Gheed from Diablo 2. Never tried the mod myself though, so don't quote me on that.
@@vladpandur1274 That is correct. Gheed is the merchant players can gamble items from in Diablo 2. In Diablo 3 Kadala does the same. She is Gheed's daughter.
Enjoying watching through this whole thing, the level of work and dedication this must of taken is outstanding. Well done!
Thank you!
With that?"
This video was a real trip down memory lane.
when i was really young (like seriously i think i was 7 or 8) my dad showed me this game on his PC and even though i was absolutely terrified of some parts of it, i loved it.
recently i remembered it's existence, and wanted to see if what i could remember was true- and to be honest a lot of it holds up to my memory. amazing work!
all diablo 1 players know the horrors of opening a door :)
You deserve alot more traffic.
This is one of those classic videos i come back to watch every now and again. You did a great job on this, thanks brother
