    Hi Sanam
    i think if you use wet cloth or wet paper under your board it will not slip when you stretch your fafda.
    Give it a go and do let me know.

    What is the substitute for papad khar?

  • @Sanamskitchen
    @Sanamskitchen  11 лет назад

    Papad khar is Indian term for alkaline salt or sodium benzoate also used to preserve food. It is same as combining sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate two to one ration in proportion.

    In one other video fafda is shown (uploaded by youtube member tilo126). There the lady says besan is not same as chana flour. That video was from a television program. The anchor in video asked what is difference and lady explained besan has one other dal in small amount. But I could not understand what name she said. My Q to you: where can I buy authentic besan? Here in Toronto grocery stores do not make distinction between besan and chana flour.

      Hi, I just used Besan (chickpea flour) by itself and it turned out awesome, don't really worry about mixing two different flour. In western countries its hard to find specific flour but Besan is widely available in any Indian grocery stores. I just made with besan and it turned out way better than what they sell in Indian restaurants here and the best part is it is homemade! I found one website kissan (.)ca (its in Canada) may be contact them and if they can deliver.

      There is no special flour. Its just a Besan (chana flour) or chickpea flour... chana no lot.
