This video dropped just under 2 weeks ago. But there's no mention of the writer & actor's strikes mentioned. There is no way production will start by end of 2023. Not with no resolution to the strikes in sight.
I noticed the second season of discovery didn't have one single straight white human male as part of the core cast, and very few on the ship at all. Occasionally one would show up to be educated by Michael. But then without Michael we wouldn't have Spock would we seeing as she made him the great person he became. I think in gong to be sick.
You have to wonder after Phillipa Georgeu left via the mysterious "gateway to forever", who is in control of the gateway and does Section 31 have anything to do with it. The Guardian told her it was a test and way for her to sort of atone, a second chance.
Anyone think this would have been better as a series? There is a tremendous amount of unexplored depth to Section 31 and it will be difficult to cram that into a single movie. And more Michelle Yeoh would not be a bad thing either :)

Considering it is an offshoot of Discovery which had to jump to the future because the writers could not cope with the idea of canon. Do you really want a Section 31 series, in a movie they have a few boundaries.
Personly I got the feeling section 31 was responsible for stitching earth back together after the Third World War and its aftermath that are referred to in far point by Q and by Kirk and Spock oh talking of a colonel green and seen in first contact by sections of several intelligence agency’s joining forces and have been secretly Guiding earths development since ( in pretty much the way that the second foundation did in Asimov’s foundation of Empire Trilogy did )
I failed to see how Michelle Yeoh’s character can become part of the Picard timeline. Since the last we saw her she was being sent back in time before the Federation of the empire split.
maybe the guardian of forever can help her jump from any time that she is needed. or like Picard artificial body which can live longer than the normal body, she can have that done to her. the possibility can be creative if you look beyond some of the "facts".

I never had Paramount+ and when I did get it first I watched "Picard" and then all of the Enterprise episodes since I never did see all of those. I'm in the middle of watching "Discovery" and Yeoh is just so damn good. You gotta love to hate her or hate to love her. In this discussion of this series I'd like to see the Phillipa we saw in "Discovery" that 51% badass bitch, 49% not-so-bad smartass bitch works very well. if they cancel SNW's for this, I'm done with Star Trek. SNW's was the first Star Trek in several decades that I had any real interest in watching play out. Section 31 is just too far removed from what Star Trek is, regardless of what DS9 fans might think.

I have no interest in seeing a dark Star Trek Section 31 film! We do not need a DARK Scenario Star Trek Major Film. Paramount did not do this for members of the original or TNG individual cast members like George Takei when he command the USS Excelsior starship or Jonathan Frakes when he commanded the USS Titan. I would rather see Captain Makenzie Calhoun and Commander Selby on the USS Excalibur! Joe Flanagan would be fantastic as Capt. Calhoun. There is a wealth of Books to draw upon to generate stories and plot lines for these characters and possible crossovers to other Star Trek casts.
Section 31, it is amazing how much mileage that Star Trek has gotten out of this part of DS9, and few know its actual origins. I 1986 a new Science Fiction Series was created by a person and over the next several years was being shopped around Hollywood. Paramount optioned it for two years but then decided to pass, but during two years had a access to the series outline and many of this plot lines. One of which was called Bureau 13. Paramount eventually decided not to produce Babylon 5, but then WB did. Bureau only appears in one episode and the sub plot was dropped from the rest of the series. Ironically, there is a Role Playing Game called Bureau 13 created by the same designer who did Fringworthy, the game that was the bases for the Stargate Movie and Series.. JMS met him at Gencon and his first words were "I did not know" and Richard was perfectly OK with that.
Phillipa Georgeu and Section 31 would be a perfect fit. Actually, a frighteningly good and dangerous fit. I suspect they do the movie first to justify a series. Edit: Was just thinking. Am I excited? Not really. I've been a trek fan since the 70s and I like many have found the last few years of trek reinvention sadly lacking. Yes Discovery had potential but it was too different and disrespectful to what had come before. Picard? It was basically passable but again missing on the unbelievable potential. Lower Decks? Amusing but forgettable. Prodigy was the only new Trek I got really curious about. But cancelled? Sadly I have lost interest in the franchise going forward. It seems very much dead in the water for me. Too much has been changed and not enough explanation exists as to why all this rubbish exists.

Yes, been a fan myself since the 70's. Star Trek's a one trick pony, a great one trick pony but...none the less. They should think carefully before spreading it too thin with umpteen spinoff's. A ship's crew exploring space is a concept that can only bear one incarnation at a time. Star Trek is not a multi-layered concept, it's a shootemup in space featuring the occasional morality play with the message, man's future is a positive one. Great! It shouldn't try to be more than it is.
As much as I like the actress and the character as it is, knowing the history of her character, this shouldn't exist in Star Trek. She killed and ate people, how sick is that? This character should not have been allowed to get away with what she did. Keeping the character alive just because it was interesting and the actress was good was one of the most unforgivable mistakes of Discovery.

Yes, the title of this video is very misleading. I do not appreciate that. Don’t say there is a trailer when there isn’t one. This video should’ve been titled “section 31 movie speculation video”. I hate videos like this that mislead people on RUclips.
Am I excited? Not really. I've been a trek fan since the 70s and I like many have found the last few years of trek reinvention sadly lacking. Yes Discovery had potential but it was too different and disrespectful to what had come before. Picard? It was basically passable but again missing on the unbelievable potential. Lower Decks? Amusing but forgettable. Prodigy was the only new Trek I got really curious about. But cancelled? Sadly I have lost interest in the franchise going forward. It seems very much dead in the water for me. Too much has been changed and not enough explanation exists as to why all this rubbish exists.

Yes, been a fan myself since the 70's. Star Trek's a one trick pony, a great one trick pony but...none the less. They should think carefully before spreading it too thin with umpteen spinoff's. A ship's crew exploring space is a concept that can only bear one incarnation at a time. Star Trek is not a multi-layered concept, it's a shootemup in space featuring the occasional morality play with the message, man's future is a positive one. Great! It shouldn't try to be more than it is.
I'm guessing you have never watched Discovery. That's not how she pronounces her name.
As much as I like the actress and the character as it is, knowing the history of her character, this shouldn't exist in Star Trek. She killed and ate people, how sick is that? This character should not have been allowed to get away with what she did. Keeping the character alive just because it was interesting and the actress was good was one of the most unforgivable mistakes of Discovery.

NO interest. I love TOS, TNG, DS9, Voy & ENT. Dicso was terrible. S1 & S2 of Picard were terrible. STW has potential to save ST, but S2 looks bad. Like Disney killing Star Wars (on the Milking Train), Paramount following suit. ST is dying in this "Strange New World" we all live in now. Nobody will go see Section 31 if it's in the theater. Its only chance is for direct to streaming to reach Paramount's (new) target / niche audience. "Fool me THRICE", but Not again. Thank You Disney & Paramount for crapping on my childhood !
Mission: Impossible, I Spy, Man From U.N.C.L.E, 24...Star Trek. Sorry, I just don't see the latter sharing a single theme with spy dramas, much as I've enjoyed some of them in the past. Exploiting the Star Trek name was a mistake.
I know they are making it a movie. Hopefully it is better then what passes for star trek. Hopefully its not tiresome of preaching and handhold of songs of love. Section 31 was the Total opposite of all that. The federation lasted this long because of organizations like section 31, doing the back alley deals and the dirty work of star fleet and the federation.
