from this period on jeffs voice sounds so much better than the way he sang on earlier wilco stuff the band itself is also much tighter and the songs are better as wilcos sound became more experimental-- this has got to be my new favorite band...
I mean, you're kind of right-Jay would have never let Ghost Is Born-Wilco's most challenging work-ever happen, but Jay was basically Wilco in the early days, playing great leads and writing amazing songs.
@breid33 Wilco fans miss Jay because Jay brought so many brilliant hooks and breakthrough musical ideas to the band. While I agree that Nels and Pat are both better musicians (especially live) neither of them have had the profound impact on the songwriting that Jay Bennett had. He was clearly difficult to work with, but that doesn't discount the friendships or the art that came from his time with Wilco. RIP Jay.
jay leaving the band was the best thing that ever happened. they picked up nels and pat sansone and have their most talented live lineup they've ever had. jay was obviously a pain for everyone to work with, like that annoying hippie who has to have everyone's attention. i don't understand how some fans miss his influence on the band.
So many jay Bennett fanatics would try to convince you that he wrote everything. Well, he's great, but those lyrics in addition to some of the composition is all Tweedy.
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
I agree. Mystic, gorgeous, devasting...
RIP, Jay. Thanks for many great years, and many great albums.
one of the best songs ever, jay bennet will be missed, he will be one of my biggest inspirations...
Jay Bennett RIP a legend
Wilco will love you....

Is the cello player improvising? If so, he is insanely talented.
@breid33 the point is that he didn´t left the band , he died. You can´t say that this is the best thing.
really cool, do you have any more videos from these sessions?
@marcsfortaner he left the band long before he died.
Dude, have you heard the actual song? Or anything else off that album?
@morganenosfilms what does that have to do with anything?
I don't hear any cello on the album version...
@breid33 You´re right.
How can I watch this film?
@Gradey3 have you ever listened to the band?
Yonlu
lmao
Whats the song that starts playing at the very end?
I believe it's some version of " I'm the Man Who Loves You "
