    Hey everyone! In today's video, we are doing portrait photography at the beach with the A7IV and the Zeiss 50mm f1.4. For this photoshoot I wanted to have some environmental portraits that showcase more of the location and very natural posing. I included a lot of the directions and posing prompts I was giving our model Jasmine, hopefully this can give you some ideas on what to say and how to direct your subjects at your next photoshoot. Let me know what other A7IV photoshoots you'd like to see!

    Superb. Wonderful posing and compositions. You make me want to pick up a 50mm (which has not happened since I was shooting the original OM-1 film camera... !).
    Intriguing that when all is said and done, you decided to keep the Zeiss rather than going for the Sony f/1.2. We tend to compare lenses and immediately want the absolute best (G.A.S) but the Zeiss was already getting you amazing photographs so why not continue with it?

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  2 года назад +3

      Thank you, I appreciate it. I still prefer other primes like 35 and 85 for portrait work, but a 50 is great when you want to have a simple one lens set up and still be able to capture a variety of shots.
      Right after my GM 50 1.2 review I did make another video as to why I’m not switching yet. 50 is my least used prime and my Zeiss is definitely still good enough for what I need :) not gonna lie, I do think about getting the 1.2 version here and there. But I just don’t need it!

At least that's the simplest solution that comes to my mind :)

But I swear, every time they ask if we can do it earlier in the day, around 1pm and then I always have to convince them that later in the day is a better time to shoot because of the lightning. Any tips how to convince them better or to bring it a better way? Cause they usually agree to shoot later in the day, but with reluctantce...

  • @chivyp
    @chivyp 2 года назад

    Hi, Julia! Are you constantly moving the flexible spot focus while shooting when the subject is moving around? I find it very hard to multi-task this way and end up using eye-af with wide area focus.

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  2 года назад +1

      Well in this shoot in particular I wanted to see how the A7IV goes with a wide focus area as I mentioned. But for all my other shoots when using a small flexible focus point, yes I am constantly moving it around! I feel like it's pretty second nature as you get used to it though, so I don't really think about it much anymore. You also don't need to move it around AS much as say the Canon 5D series where you needed the focus point in place perfectly. With eye AF, that usually takes over and does a great job by itself so with mirrorless I usually move the small focus point when we have a drastic frame change.

    • @chivyp
      @chivyp 2 года назад

      @@juliatrotti in that case, does that mean you leave your focus mode in flexible spot mode while shooting? I was scared eye af wouldn’t stick if flexible spot focus is say in a random place away from the face. Thank you so much for responding! 💕
