I do not know how to express it, I do it this way: After 31 years of living in the modern world and thinking posing is not a choice for me at all :))) I decided to see at least one video and see what happens. He was smiling all the time cus of your presence :) You have really positive vibe and loved the video , learned some tricks and definitely will try in the future
Actually only about 1-5% is "not photogenic" Most people are just uncomfortable with taking photos If you comfort them while taking the photo, most people will be "photogenic" as well
Thank you so much! This was so helpful. I love the "shift your weight from foot to foot," "caress your hands" and "you can look around". So simple but if you don't say it, your subject won't know what to do!
I use these techniques every weekend when photographing weddings. It doesn't matter what someone looks like, their body shape, etc, by making them feel comfortable you can take a nice photo of anyone :)
@WingsOfTruth You are a person with ONE opinion. The guy in the video is GREAT looking. Body, face, smile, he has it all. You only have one opinion and people have out-voted you. Noah Mills and Sean O'pry are hot male models but this guy is hot in a different way. Some people like nordic features, some like eastern european or darker. Different types for different folks. You may not be into this guy but clearly hundreds and thousands of people like him
I feel like its more a trick for photographer rather then model. I can do all these poses, but if my friend doesnt know when to take a picture, I am doomed.
WOW, just WOW! NOW I see what a portrait photographer is trying to achieve/portray in their shots, I always used to think the chat (feedback) and results were always "dorky" (well, to me at least). This singular video (vs the internet) opened my eyes to what the photographer wants to see vs what the subject thinks they should see and how to coax the subject into submission without them knowing it! BRILLIANT!
Tremendously helpful. I do like the hand tips most of all, however seeing every pointer in action definitely gives perspective to start from anywhere. Loved all the photos. Going to watch once more, it was so effective. Thank-you!
Your channel showed up on my feed. And I highly enjoyed this video. Posing is not that easy especially like how you said if the gentleman is not a model. I’ll use some of these tips for next weekend shoots for Instagram. Thank you ✌🏼👍🏻
Omg! Thank you SO much for this video! I’m starting with photography and my boyfriend is my main model, but i never know how to pose him cause he’s not a model! Thank youuu
Nice tips Julia 👍 Awesome. It's pretty much simplifying the things you should know as answers instead of long confusing explanation from some other professionals. Welldone 👌
I thought Karol did a great job- I could feel his shyness to be in front of the camera. You worked hard in trying to get him to loosen up but he clearly did not have a clue on how to 'play' for the lens. I am glad that even he wanted a few "serious" shots but he certainly has a winning smile! He did seem rather relieved when it was over but he was a great sport! I shall be trying some of your tips, Julia, thanks!
People often confuses the word MODEL as beautiful. Is not the case. This guy for example, is quite handsome but he’s not a model. Is not about the looks, it’s about the attitude, the pose, know how to improve your best angles, knowing your body and all that. As a photographer, I always say is a 50/50 work to make a good photoshoot.
I always very awkward when someone takes polictures of me. I never how to stand or look or anything and my 'photographers' were not that good in giving directions, so this video actually helped me a lot. Thanks for that!!! Beautiful pictures too!!!!
Good looking young man and he started to get comfortable so his poses made him look natural. I like the natural relaxed look better than "posed" and his muscles made these photos look very masculine yet not faked. Good job to the both of you!
When i watching this haha where do my eyes looking is for the pretty photographer or the photogenic and pretty smile of model guy. Haha love your vid sissy keep it up new subds here.
I didn't expect the comments to be so full of man-crush comments haha. I believe the spirit of this video was how to work with someone *who doesn't know how to pose* or carry themselves for photos. I am notorious at taking terrible pictures of people and this video helped me. Photographers can make anyone look their best regardless of where they are beginning. What was fruitful for me is seeing that even some of the more obscure stances you had him take which looked exceedingly awkward at full perspective (from the video camera man's perspective) looked *excellent* from the shooters perspective (yours Julia). Thank you for taking the time and sharing. A couple take aways I learned is that you don't always have to "smile" for the camera and you certainly don't have to look at it. Seems obvious now but not prior. Thanks again.
Thank you! Ahh Dan got me that camera strap from ebay - I've been wanting another one because this one is falling apart but we can't find it anymore 😫 If it ever comes back or we find it again, I will post a link on twitter/IG since everyone always asks me where it's from!

Yeah, the photographer tells you how to pose

Some of these poses look super awkward in real life but the final result is great
