Or is it the trigger cable from the external flash? I am thinking of buying a camera :). Does it handle the backlight so well in the video, or did you use an external flash or reflector? thanks in advance
Love you and your Videos here on youtube. You are the best teacher ever. The part when you walk around the model while filming and simoultainesly showing the video in the frame is great. Best effect to learn. You are such a friendly Person. Best wishes and a great thanx from germany!!!!
thanks for tip about the lens compression! It's basic physics yet somehow I've never thought about it. I'll think about switching to more mms when the background is giving us troubles!!!
Every time I am just amazed by your photography skills, love all the photos shown on the video. You’re definately one of my biggest inspirations what comes to photography, editing etc and no doubt why😊
Excellent video with lots of great tips! My question is what metering mode is the best for such photos, would it be spot or center? How do I achieve so much light in the face of the person with backlit scenes? Thank you 💓
In love with this way of learning the way u explain camera angel while the sun is behind i was literally in found of it and watched over many video but thankfully I'm on the right venue here😄and knoe i get to know what was my mistake while shooting and ehy my subjest went so extremely bad exposure while taking the back light portraits cause i was in lined to the sun and subjest in 180 degrees straight light and the sun damn burn my portrait😐
new to photography and doing it as a hobby. Find myself gravitating towards portraits because I personally find them more dynamic and interesting and colourful. Love your work and videos! They've helped a TONNN. Now to decide what lens to get for this lol Grrrr so many choices
Very informative!! Yes, I would love to see more videos like this. I love the way you show your camera screen so we can see exactly what you’re seeing, and I really like the side by side comparisons. I love your teaching style!! A+ video!!
shutterstock is a black shop I bought a five-picture package from you for US49. I downloaded three pictures for the first time. When I downloaded the second time, you didn't show any price or it was different from the package I bought or prompted to download it, and my credit card was automatically charged. After the second US199, the credit card monthly statement was sent after the discovery. When registering an account, a credit card was naturally bound and different prices were mixed into the package I bought, but I didn’t know the situation and downloaded it, that is to say, your website design is a trap, and you don’t care about goodwill to protect your own interests. Now you send an email to express no. Refund, I suspect you are a black shop.
You seem very confident in your style and it's something some of us would love to have! I'm also glad you are having this channel, because it s informative and helpful. Can't wait to see more. I have a question. Do you use any filter on your lenses to catch light likr this?
When I under expose to preserve the highlights I have a hard time bringing back bringing back skin tone, especially pale skin tones, and making them look natural. They usually tend to look dull and gray. Any tips? Thanks
I usually bring up the brightness, touch highlights just a bit then I do a skin correction to get Rich skin tones not sure what editors your using i use Affinity and luminar neo.
Thank you Julia!! Nice tips! You are the best from the best! I like the way of your explanation, style of presenting, voice and all ). I am waiting for your next video like this.
I love how you explain the topic! This helps me immensely to understand the background and to implement this knowledge in my photos. Thank you so much for this brilliant video ❤️.
Hi Julia, great video. Would you mind mentioning what type of wireless HDMI transmitter system you’re using and how you’re recording it? (If that’s what’s on the side of your camera there) Thanks! 🙌🏻
Thank you so much! I felt inspired from your videos and tried some backlight photography on my dog, but I think the sun was too much behind her so my camera struggled to focus on her and she got a bit blurred out and a "white layer" was plastered all over the photo from the sunlight hehe. I think I need an ND-filter too, I haven't used one before but maybe it will help with such things.
This is very helpful information! Yes I’d love to see more videos using natural light! Thank you !

Hey Julia, I have a question, what are your camera’s settings when you’re doing backlight photography? I mean, specifically when you take the picture underexposed intentionally?
Hi Julia,I love outdoor photography however,I don't know what to do with my photograph..where will I watch a video of your workflow editing from first to finish?
Can you do a video only shooting in landscape orientation? Like tips or sth. I always shoot in portrait (I do like it more), and I want to add variety, but landscape orientation shots never look that good when I do them (except for group photos)
What about those areas where there is no trees like on beech point r any other places such as during landscape photography that backlight passing through edges of the mountains how we can capture these photos

Hii Julia ...love from Durgapur, India🧡....i would like to ask that which lens(es) would be best according to you starting fashion and portrait photography from scratch ...and which camera body would you prefer?
A really attractive model who knows how to project herself on cam can almost always bail you out regardless of your skills (or lack thereof) and natural talentl, it's like in tennis, you are already given a 30-0 advantage every single time 😉..big fan of your channel Julia This is why caucasian models or light skinned people are easy on the sensors and really don't confuse the metering too much
It is easy to shoot when u are using ur monitor comparing to the eye piece mam. Dslr is more harder to shoot compare to Sony and sony is a camera even a know how person can soon learn to shoot because of its lcd style of shooting

Hey Julia, I have a question, what are your camera’s settings when you’re doing backlight photography? I mean, specifically when you take the picture underexposed intentionally?
You can see some values at 7:18. Lens there is Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM

Hi Julia,I love outdoor photography however,I don't know what to do with my photograph..where will I watch a video of your workflow editing from first to finish?
This is sooooo useful, Julia! Love all your tips! I will give it a try on my next photoshoot. Do you like using ND filters for your pictures?
Thanks for this video 🙏🏽😀Julia
What do you use to record the camera screen while shooting?
Amazing video. So well explained thank you 😊
Great video. You also use a reflector to get more light to the face?
Thanks! I personally don't, I don't like how it looks. I prefer using natural reflectors in my location instead.
Do you need a speedlight as a filler when taking these photos or they are not needed at all
Can you do a video only shooting in landscape orientation? Like tips or sth. I always shoot in portrait (I do like it more), and I want to add variety, but landscape orientation shots never look that good when I do them (except for group photos)

I’m struggling with editing photos taken where my subject is surrounded with a lot of greenery. The skin tone just looks awful. How do you avoid that?
Do you shoot in raw?
Did you end up figuring out to balance the green with magenta?
Awesome tips thank you! :)
Very helpful!!
This is such a great video! So helpful!
Thank you!
Yes More Natural Light Please
Are you using a picture profile or log profile even for photos? If not Can you do that?
What about those areas where there is no trees like on beech point r any other places such as during landscape photography that backlight passing through edges of the mountains how we can capture these photos

Thank you for giving very good suggestion❤️
Love from India Julia
Thank you for watching!
Wow
on backlight, do you use only 1.2?
Wow very useful thanks!!!
Very interesting but why don't you use fill flash to add more contrast to the face ?
I don’t want more contrast, I am after that soft look 😊
Hey Julia! Nice informative video. Just wondering, do you ever use bloom/mist filter on you photoshoots?
shutterstock is a black shop

How do you ensure the subject does not get dark in back-lit condition?
Thank you!
I'm just curious how many photos you take in one photo session and how much you actually give to the client? 😁
Great video. Thanks.
What are the lenses in the video? xf33mm f1.4 Is it?
Hii Julia ...love from Durgapur, India🧡....i would like to ask that which lens(es) would be best according to you starting fashion and portrait photography from scratch ...and which camera body would you prefer?
50mm.......she started her career with 50mm..I think
35mm, 50mm and 85mm and any camera but ones with eye detection auto focus is going to be very helpful
Very good video!
you're awesome!
My camera always struggle to get AF on backlit subject, and even if it says it is on it always feel soft...
julia i like this
How can I get your Amali light room preset pack
Amalfi
What photo editor are you using?

Did anyone see the turkey at 8:50???

It is easy to shoot when u are using ur monitor comparing to the eye piece mam. Dslr is more harder to shoot compare to Sony and sony is a camera even a know how person can soon learn to shoot because of its lcd style of shooting
What is your point? Nothing is easy about any of this. Don’t be bitter just because she knows how to take great photos.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😍
