God made the rules, going outside to bible is not knowing God and there is a very stern warning about that misleading and consequences.

There was a time I'd get in a dogfight with any and everyone in this comment section, pointing out mistranslations, inconsistently applied standards, and underlying hate. But I've since discovered that there's no sense trying to talk theology with people who don't _have_ a theology. Most of these commenters "know" what the Bible "says" and haven't once questioned it. And if the results confirm their existing prejudices, so be it.
If you don't like what the UMC's leadership decided, don't go to their services. Find yourself a church full of "true believers" that lets you act as judge, jury, and executioner.
Oh boy (or girl/they/them) ... if this sticks, let's see how much things change (not for the better) over the next 10 yrs!

But this is not Christianity it never was. How can you leave something you never had to begin with. Everything about western Christianity has been a perversion of the true faith utilized to subdue and rule the masses. You are correct this was Roman Paganism and the fallacies are being exposed for all to see. But Christs church will be there till the end and was there from the beginning. Study the councils and canonical history of the church and see for yourself where and by whom the truth was reformed gradually through time. And most importantly which church did not conform. There you will find Christianity untouched by the deceiver and many many persecuted Christians still holding the torch. I hope you are blessed and find the wisdom to search and discover and teach what you know.
Christianity isn't growing in the Usa or European countries but it's growing in Latin countries like Mexico, central and south America, China Middle East and Africa. We do have plenty of Christians in the Usa, we are good . They just need to wake up and stand up . Christianity has freewill, so some people will leave .It's part of the process.
Jesus told his disciples that the day would come when "those who kill you will think they're serving God."
The UMC is helping to prove Jesus was right.
