One Keeley Double Tracker review to rule them all. I was so unconvinced by the other reviews that it is nothing more than a Chorusey reverb pedal with super pure signal path. Really liked the much more real life application demo you did there . The eighties trip sealed the deal for me . Rock on
+Mike Barth Thanks so much dude. I was definitely surprised by how much I was able to squeeze out of the pedal. I really try to bring the day-to-day practicality of effects into all my demos; thanks for appreciating the work and I'll keep them coming :)
Love demos that not only show what pedals sound like but alsodifferent ways that they can be applied in a real musical context, so this was awesome! And man-o-man ur playing is phenomenal! \m/
Spectacular Jay! Thanks so much for doing this - the chops kill, the way you're using the device is so helpful. I've got one, but clearly not using it to it's max effectiveness. Now I've got homework! Thanks again!
+Hart Hogan Thanks for watching; there are so many fun settings hidden in this thing... hopefully you can unlock some of them with this video (although I'm sure you already have your pedal really dialed in as well). If you want any extra tips or have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
Thanks dude. I never used a double tracker in my rig before but then I got super addicted to it. Tell me how it works out for you if you ever take the plunge :)
One of my favourite videos of yours. Hope to get some more videos with you using this pedal in the future. Beautiful sound and playing. Really glad how many views this has.
Always appreciate hearing from ya. I actually do sprinkle that pedal all over the place. I think my Tone Specific Jazz Tele review was littered with the 30ms :)
I just purchased the Keeley 30ms Double Tracker, so THANKS Jay for the great demo and explanation of how to use this thing. Your playing is high energy, and you always use cool examples and get great tones whatever you're playing. Thanks again, man!
Extra-special thumbs up for the Cyndi Lauper medley. There are great guitarists, and there are great guitarists who appreciate great music. I love your style, JLJ.
Your tele sounded beautiful. Those clean glassy sounding chords were great.I'm having a problem with Keeley, I want all three workstations but I can only afford one at the moment. I think the one called Mod has the Oxblood and the 1962 pedal combined as well as a ton of other good stuff. Great video Jay.
My favorite demo of this pedal..! Great Job..! Can't wait until my pedal arrives... I also dig your demo of the CB Dirty Little Secret..! Thanks for doing what you do..!
+JayLeonardJ I didn't start to explore the pedal until I watched your review and others. I am running in mono pro mode and prefer the minimal settings, still experimenting. Congrats on 1000 subscribers.
+Rocky Belair Thanks so much! I couldn't have got there without you. Looks like I'm only 19,000 away from my goal; hopefully we will get there in 2016 :)
Your optimism gives you such a clean perspective of music. You described a slapback delay as a "ghostly freaky barnyard feel...a little more strange and awkward like a robot cowboy walking into an Italian saloon for a shootout before a ninja comes in and chops off its head, like a really Tarantino-ey wonderful piece of mess."
Yes the 80's effect on effect off sealed the deal for me. Have you demo'd any of the chase bliss pedals? My recommendation would be spectre and warped vinyl.
+JayLeonardJ I've just bought one on a work trip to the US. Have had a frustrating week of looking at it and having to wait to get it back to my guitars and amps in Australia! Have you had a play with the Katana or Red Dirt before? Again thanks for your videos - wonderful vibe as well as good information.
Pretty cool...as you have a home studio (by the looks...1st time here), it would be great to see what the Abbey Chamber or the 30ms Double Tracker would sound like with an acoustic guitar...hint, hint
For some reason, I feel like I need this? And I never thought Girls Wanna Have Fun would be featured to show off the best of 80s guitar tones. Nicely done.
+mattmasu So true... I guess I was just trying to remind myself that there is more to 80s pop guitar tones than just offshoots of EVH, SRV, the Edge, and Nile Rogers, haha.
Great demo Jay! I have a follow-up question for you. I've been debating whether to get this pedal or not in that I love all of the cool sounds it can make, but I don't want to lug two amps to gigs. It would seem the bulk of the really cool tones come from the Double Tracker Pro mode, but what about the stock mode? You said you're using this pedal at gigs. Are you using a stereo output cable to two amps at gigs, or are you using it in stock mode to one amp? Just curious. I have more that one amp I could take to gigs, but I'm trying to lug less gear. Thoughts? I can see myself using Double Tracker Pro mode at home and in the studio, but does it do enough cool stuff in stock mode to knock my boost pedal off the board and take its place? Again, great video!
+Jesse Gosselin ...Great question! Most people don't realize that you can run the "Tracker Pro" mode in both mono and stereo; one DIP switch engages pro mode and a separate DIP switch toggles between mono and stereo. As a matter of fact, since I already have amp verb, running Pro mode into a single mono amp is how I typically run the pedal live. If memory serves me right, I do run the effect in mono on a few of the rhythm parts of the opening song. Good luck and tell me how it works out for you if you take the plunge :)
JLJ.... MORE PLEASE!!! AWESOME DEMO DUDE! Really enjoyed the "Hi-Gain,Distorted Tones with the Double tracker,In the Intro with the SG,And The ZEPPLIN Riff ! Big Fan of the KEELEY Pedals,And NOW ,a Fan and Subscriber of Yours Brother. Great Vid,and More "Hi-Gain/Modulation/Delay stuff. Oh Yeah,Enjoyed the "Spagehtti Western/Robot Ninja Turtle Bit,..Really Cool and "WEIRD" ..LOL! THANKS JAY! Bob Glendora,NJ
+Bob Malin Thanks for digging the tones! Since you like those high gain tones so much, I'll tell you how I did it in the demo: a 30ms delay running into a JCM800 and AC15 in stereo :)
So much fun. I think if the pedal sucked your smile and energy would still make it rock. The fact you play well is like a bonus. You got a subscriber 8).
+Dennis Mccann Thanks so much for the really kind words and the subscription. I'll keep posting vids for you all, so let me know if there is anything you want to see :)
I really don't understand RUclips... Jay deserves +100k followers ! In depth videos, great playing.. really ?! (I wrote this comment before reaching the end !)
Hey great video keeley makes some awesome pedals! Though i was just wondering what is the song at 8:11 (Subtle Puncher section). That riff has been in my head for the last year but with relentless googling for months now i can not find the song worth my life. All i know is one of the lyrics they say talking about looooooooooooooooooove. (Yes sort of exactly like that) :P anyway if you could save me from my torture and tell me the name of that song I might just subscribe lol.
at first I though.. hmm.. but at the end of the video I really got your sense of humor and loved it! The Led Zep part was really helpful for my own sound
+rolando0572 The PRO MODE changes the roles that the two knobs on the left side performs. In STANDARD MODE, the bottom knob is "Reverb"; and the top knob is "Tuning" (in the Dimension or Slapback setting) or "Modulation" (in the Abbey mode setting). PRO MODE removes the reverb and makes those two knobs act like an expanded version of the Tuning and modulation knobs; the two knobs become either a Flat/Sharp detune control or a rate/speed control. If your amp already has reverb, I highly recommend the PRO MODE. Good luck and tell me how the pedal works out for you :)
+JayLeonardJ jay..hi i used the pedal as you told me...and you are right the best is the pro mode..in Abb mode and dimension are great but in the pro mode the slapback i cant tell the difference...but i use in Abb mode , sound like a chorus but a quite different...thankskudos from panama
+Elijah Coleman Thanks! The blue one is a 2011 custom shop: it is almost exactly like my real 1968 Bigsby (the blonde one in the intro song) only with some custom pups. The sad thing is how much I was able to beat up that thing after only 4 years :(
Dang bro! I thought it was just relic'ed. Personally I think it looks good though. How much does the bigsby effect the tuning? I've been considering putting one on my American standard. Not sure whether to use a vibramate or not haha
+Elijah Coleman I know, I am notorious for my guitar cruelty, that is way I never play carved-topped burst guitars... they are way too pretty to hurt, haha. I might be against the grain, but Bigsby Teles are the only ones I can play. They add a slinkiness to playability, have a much better tuning stability than a floating Strat bridge, and are the only type of floating tremolo I have used that does not majorly detune my guitar when I break a string. However, if you do not need a trem, I highly recommend trying a top loading Tele bridge; they are amazing. Trust me. Tips to master your Bigsby: standard to thicker strings (at least 10s), locking tuners, String Spoiler, and Mastery Bridge. Any person that says a Bigsby kills body and sustain has not tried a Mastery, haha. Good luck and tell me how it goes if you decide to take the plunge.
Thanks for the demo man. I am definitely buying one after this comment. You are a awesome guitar player too. P.s I hooked up my Nintendo cube so when I get the pedal I can be able to put in the cheat code. Thx again
+Christopher Ballew So happy for you. Please tell me how you like it when it comes in. BTW - I thought I was the last man on earth with a Gamecube; I trade you a pack of strings for a copy of the Mega Man 25th Anniversary Collection, hahaha.
+JayLeonardJ Hey jay I was letting you know I have joined the 30 ms to my pedal board and got it dialed in really good for my needs. I really like it man. Thank you for your video.
:)) Really GOOD Demo with humility and humour, I've the same pedal and I play with 2 tubes amp, It's really fantastic! In a local church, when I play, I see the people who are in ecstasy when I play, you can read on their face that they do not want you to stop playing! With this stopbox, it's really like passing the TV black & white to color TV. ( I mix with Neunaber Wet stereo... Amazing! XD) Thank you for this post and thank you to exist JayLeonardJ! ;) (Lol: the fat cat)
Tim, thank you for mentioning the neunaber wet reverb. I have the same setup as you with 2 tube amps. Mono into 30ms and then stereo out to to electronics flashback. Some serious tone. If I were to add the neunaber, sounds like I should connect it to the dry signal coming from the 30ms. Do u concur? And Jay. Another fantastic review and the Lauper stuff was some playing
+xchump I can't even look at myself for 5hrs, haha. Then again, I could definitely kill a whole day playing with the H9... Thanks dude, there are more videos to come
nice work jay!, i have a question about adding this pedal on my rig. if i want to set this pedal to the "Pro mode"on my pedalboard using dual mono/single stereo jack right as u said, how can i connect this padel to another (in the chain) with that type of cable?
You are a fantastic player, and the humor is great. Loved this review of the 30ms. BUT....gotta tellya....on Black Dog, at the end of the riff when you're vamping on Amaj in the 1st position, it goes to Cmaj then back to Amaj (not to Gmaj then back to Amaj, as you played it). Rock on!
you didnt show your signal chain. Live performance: guitar to pedals to amp. Please enlighten me how you would incorperate this to your board and placement of the pedal. thanks
Nice Jay! But if I want the pedal to go to two amps (in a live situation, from the pedalboard to the amps) there's no cable for that. Unless I put them real close together.. it's alwas 1,5 meter with the end plugs close together. Got a solution for that?
Your playing on that 80s Flashback holy shiiiit *__* Another amazing video as always. I think I've asked you before but I don't think I got an answer, do you have any original music available anywhere? A Bandcamp, a CD, anything? I love you
I'm working on a personal album right now; however, I've been working with a few cats for years: Check out Jun Kung's latest album, Sandy Lam 2011 World Tour Live Album, Warren Flandez, Redeye Empire, and The Airtights for starters :)
Brilliant demo. Couldn't be more pleased. Thanks Jay!!! (Now if I couldn't only play tennis as well as you!)
+Robert Keeley Haha, it was all for show... My backhand is absolutely horrendous :)
You didn't tell us it worked on a tennis racket!! I've been playing those for years!!! 😁
How is it possible to not like this guy!
@@JayLeonardJ
I played a mean Voltron sword, jamming arena rock at 9 years old. 😆

wow..now thats a demo. Love seeing how into it you are. Great fretwork too!
Great video, I’ve seen most videos on the Double tracker, but you had a very intresting way of using it. Thank you for that eye opener.
Great demo. Nice knowledge, some fun and some insane playing. Seriously - your playing is inspiring.
Such a great demo! Killer playing & your enthusiasm makes it fun to watch. I’ve had the 30ms for a while, typical high quality Keeley pedal!
Love demos that not only show what pedals sound like but alsodifferent ways that they can be applied in a real musical context, so this was awesome! And man-o-man ur playing is phenomenal! \m/
JLJ, you are a freak of nature! Amazing player and a respectable gent.
thanks so much :)
Great demo vid! Funny, informative - and killer chops! Thanks!
Your shred and your optimism are both awesome!
Never seen your videos till now and I freakin love your stuff man! Great job on quality demos that are informative as well as hilarious!
Thanks so much. I really appreciate it!
Amazing demo! Love your high intensity playing.
Love the enthusiasm and humor.....and informative too. keep it up.
Dude! I love your energy - thanks for the great demo!

Dude I wasn't even thinking about this pedal but you have put it on my wish list for sure! Killer demo looking forward to the next one!
Thanks dude. I never used a double tracker in my rig before but then I got super addicted to it. Tell me how it works out for you if you ever take the plunge :)
Jay - very creative, great chops, mucho informative. Thanks!
First one I've found that really breaks down the stereo and pro mode. Thanks!
Monster demo man.....playing is killer, personality piece is great, just a solid demo all around. Thanks for making it man!
+Chris Kindler Happy you appreciate the work :)
Thanks for the demo. I have the Strymon Deco. They seem similar. Great fun to play around with. Keep the great videos coming!
+Simon Warner Thanks. The Deco does look really cool too. What do you think of it?
I've watched hundreds of pedal demos over the years....or so I thought. This is a whole new level of demo-ing! Rock on!
+Fender66ch Thanks dude! Doing these demos have been a really fun new adventure for me. I'm happy you are digging them :)
MEAN STUFF!! Great job!! Love your demo style, brotha!
+Damon Lauer Thanks dude!
These Cyndi Lauper's riffs are brilliant Jay! Heard you playing Time After Time a couple of times and all the time it's bringing grin to my face :)

Thanks so much
Jay, Your reviews ROCK! Keep up the good work!
This is one of the best, definitely most fun, review/demos I've seen.
Thanks! This one was definitely a blast to make :)
Probably the best review I've seen yet, very fun, makes me want the pedal even more.
+Jonathan Collingridge Thanks so much!!! Tell me how you like it if you ever take the plunge :)
Fantastic demo.

I hope you dig it! It's a lot of fun :)
Really enjoying your videos. I very much appreciate the real world understanding and demonstration. Keep it up buddy.
+Chris Baad Thanks for commenting! I'm glad you like my approach :)
Liked the demo, but LOVED your enthusiasm. Thanks for the suggested settings, this is a versatile pedal with so many unique features. I own it.
+Rocky Belair Thanks dude! Great to hear from a fellow user. Any settings you care to share?
+JayLeonardJ I didn't start to explore the pedal until I watched your review and others. I am running in mono pro mode and prefer the minimal settings, still experimenting. Congrats on 1000 subscribers.
+Rocky Belair Thanks so much! I couldn't have got there without you. Looks like I'm only 19,000 away from my goal; hopefully we will get there in 2016 :)
Robert should hire you to demo all his pedals! Great job, Jay! Amazing how Robert knows what pedals would be useful to working musicians!
Yeah, it's no surprise that, after all these years, he's still up there in the boutique music world.
Great Demo , cool pedal.
Thx Bro.
Love your work dude :)
great demo...congrats
Don't often hear INXS on YT, sweet demo as always. Love Keeley pedals, especially use his Memphis Sun pedal every day. Keep up the great work...

Jay, you keep blowing me away with your functional to the point but oh so groovy guitar playing. In a world of shredders, great clean tone is awesome
Really appreciate it! Thanks :)
Yes the 80's effect on effect off sealed the deal for me. Have you demo'd any of the chase bliss pedals? My recommendation would be spectre and warped vinyl.
+Dustin Seabolt Thanks for the suggestions! Just looked up Chase Bliss and their stuff looks awesome. Hopefully, I could get my hands on one :)
Killer video,!
Killer Chopps!

+Tad Banzuelo Thanks so much :)
Hi Jay. Love your videos. I'm hoping you're going to get your hands soon on Keeley's Tone Workstation. Would love to see you review that.

I can see myself using Double Tracker Pro mode at home and in the studio, but does it do enough cool stuff in stock mode to knock my boost pedal off the board and take its place?

Haha, thanks!
The 1975 intro for the win!! .... And that ending bit. Lol. Keep em coming jay!
+Allen Patangan Yup, it is a toss up between the 1975 and David Bowie for my favourite intro :)
This pedal does sound great. I told my wife i wanted a minifooger chorus for Christmas but i might change my mind 8).
+Dennis Mccann Mini-Fooger vs Keeley... It looks like, no matter which one your wife picks, you are in for an awesome Christmas :)

nice work jay!, i have a question about adding this pedal on my rig. if i want to set this pedal to the "Pro mode"on my pedalboard using dual mono/single stereo jack right as u said, how can i connect this padel to another (in the chain) with that type of cable?
You would either have to use pedals with stereo ins OR create two separate pedal paths for super stereo sweetness.
Rock on!
Great ears :)
Fantastic Demo! What is the song at 6:37?
+Jonathan Thomas it was "Need You Tonight" by INXS
Anyone know if you can get that sound without setting the first dip switch to stereo and still set the second switch to pro mode?
Yup, Stereo and Pro Mode work independently from each other to give you maximum flexibility :)
you didnt show your signal chain. Live performance: guitar to pedals to amp. Please enlighten me how you would incorperate this to your board and placement of the pedal.
thanks
I would put it after my gain pedals :)
Nice Jay! But if I want the pedal to go to two amps (in a live situation, from the pedalboard to the amps) there's no cable for that. Unless I put them real close together.. it's alwas 1,5 meter with the end plugs close together. Got a solution for that?
Try something like this: www.showmecables.com/1-4-in-stereo-plug-to-dual-1-4-in-mono-jack
Thanks Jay, I found a video of unboxing and saw it was included.
Great! What is the song at 9:06?
"I'll Be Watching You" - The Police :)
That's "Every Breath you take", dude...
Anyone know if i can run a trs in from a stereo delay (alter ego x4) to trs out to 2 amps??
haha man you are awsome. I wish I could jam with you. ..it would be a blast
If not made already, we need a video about how you became such a good guitar player :)
Study, how much practice, inspirations anything :D
+Karl-Henrik Arendt Wow, never thought of doing anything like that: great idea.
Thanks! :)
what tuning is that tennis racket in? sounds sweet!
+Michal Hale Haha.
Your a bad man Jay!
Thanks :)
