Double tracking guitar, vocals, keyboards or any other instrument is a fine studio art that yields big rewards. Examples that come to mind are numerous vocal performances by Ozzy and John Lennon, and a ton of guitar work by Randy Rhoads. Double tracking basically requires you to mimic your own performance as closely as possible in order to achieve a wide, chorus-like effect. It sounds great when you've nailed it. Robert Keeley's quite brilliant 30 ms pedal offers a shortcut to this process and is convincing and versatile enough to be used in any studio or stage situation. Along with the Double Tracking Pro mode (selectable via internal dipswitches), the 30 ms gives you 6 modes - all variations on the double tracking process - with which to fatten up your sound. Dimension, Abbey and Slapback modes all offer variations in modulation and tracking delay times and all are eminently useable. The 30 ms can be used in mono or stereo. I've gone stereo here for optimum effect. Watch the video - I hope it tells the tale properly - and imagine how you could employ the Keeley 30 ms in your own music creation.

Great demo, Brett
Had to watch this again to see your beautiful mug and smile! You rock Brett!
I'm convinced that there's no classic rock song you can't play. This is the first video of this pedal I've watched, and Robert Keeley has knocked it out of the park again. I'm probably going to have a full Keeley pedal board real soon.
I just bought this right while watching. I've been comparing double trackers with detuners most of the day. I'm not into classic rock, I actually just want to mess things up and make them eerie. And this "classic rock" maker just fits perfectly. Testament to how good it is to excel both sides of the spectrum. Wonderful video, can't wait to plug it in.
Diary of a madman. Good one Brett!!!
I've never heard pedal sound like this, so I got one today. WOW. On just about every chord change I do, I can hear some old 60's tune in my head. Those studio wonks must have double tracked EVERYTHING! LOL WHEEEEEEEEEEEE this is FUN! Thanks Brett.
You and Mike Hermans are my 'go to' guys whenever I need to learn about a product. Or just hear some fantastic playing. Cheers!
I'm impressed at how cool this Keeley pedal is. I was expecting a one-sound stomp but found a reverb/ambience/ short delay and chorus effects - and sounds really good at all of them.
As good as any demo I've ever seen on RUclips. You are great my man.
Wow. Sold. Another rockin' demo Burgs. Not easy to demo a pedal that does so many different things, but apparently it does them all very well. Cheers!
Thank you, Geoff Emerick (not mentioned) who basically invented a studio version of this for the Beatles when they took their power slide into studio as a canvas: called ADT (automatic dbl tracking). Messrs John and George almost immediately fell for it head first and wanted it on "everything"! "Let's slap some ADT on that ... even if it was an absurd or naïve to think it could always be used. John thought George and Geoff Emerick could work majik [sic; because everytime they threw a problem, Geoff and George they found a solution that blew John's mind.]
Brett - You do a great job! Have had this pedal over 2 years & always discovering new sounds. All beautiful!
Love this!
That stereo with the chorus is INSANE
Burgs does it again (ok and so did Robert Keeley!). What a demo - Randy Rhoads and some Tom Sholtz/Boston magic thrown in for good measure. Wow. That pedal sounds magical!
+choppahead17 I know right?!?!?! Blessed.
Brett, I have watched a lot of your videos, I don't think I have seen you having this much fun!! That in and of itself is quite an endorsement for this pedal. Also, great job on musical choices for showcasing it's features.
Watch his Dsm Humboldt Silver Linings video, it is Awesome too. A real Demo King on RUclips.
Your demonstration once again convinced me of this device, now I will buy it, thank you again and again for your really good presentations of the devices, it's always a lot of fun to see you
You have done this pedal an amazing amount of justice! Sounds amazing. I own a Deco and would stack it right up there with Strymon efforts at a double tracking pedal. Thanks Burgs!
Ive watched lots of your demos and when I saw this I immediately went online and bought the pedal. Ive never seen you have so much fun doing this. I love my pedal amazing my band freaked out. Thanks loved the Boston moment too sucks when thats live on stage been there ha ha
Great demo Brett, official GAS!
Keeley has put out a bunch of new stuff that's very interesting.
More than one on my hitlist.
Great Demo! Especially after 8:50 where we could hear great comparisons in Rock distortion mode. Glad you click around with the pedal while playing.
Brilliant--I have one and love it. Robert Keeley did a great job on this one--excellent demo too!
Robert Keeley and crew--that is!
Yes, My TEAM rocks!! Aaron Tackett, Craighton Hale, Atlee Hickerson all aced it on this.
@Robert Keeley? Is this really you?!?! Cause if so, PLEASE keep this pedal in production!!! Unfortunately I'm a poor idiot and I know it will take me a year (or even more) atleast to purchase one. And I will do that. I have to, because it's the best sounding pedal ever!!! Thank you!
Awesome! I was wondering about the Luxe Detune, but this video (thanks to Brett) has shown me so much, much more!!!
Absolutely love your demos, Brett. With this one as my favorite.
Great demo Brett, thanks for the rundown. Need a double thumbs up button for Boston!
At 9:30 when you were playing the Boston riff, was the signal path gtr -> Oxblood -> Double Tracker -> amp, or were there any other pedals in the signal chain? And do you recall what settings the Oxblood was set at? Thanks, Jeff
Great video demonstration! It is one of the most usable effects pedals i've ever purchased.
Great demo (as usual)! I'm running my 30ms in stereo into a stereo delay, and then into 2 amps! Talk about huge soundstage! Another plus there is that even with both pedals off (pretty rare, but whatever) I still get the benefit of that dual amp sound. This is the pedal I've been searching for, for years!
That is an amazing sounding demo.
To good man! Always enjoyable to listen to you play, and I love that pedal!
Great as usual. Brett's demos are all concerned rapid and effective. Thanks Brett
Those Boston licks sounded neat! Rad demo!
Hi guys! Great demo and must have pedal! I am assuming you get the actual stereo in pro mode by using a TRS Y cable, yes?
Seriously incredible and thorough demo brother, keep it up, would love to see your take on some other double tracking methods/pedals!
Great mix of info and playing on your videos!! Perfect mix!! I just bought this pedal and this bid really got me going on it!! Keep it up!!
Diary of a Rand man. Always a great song to start with!
:FeelsRandMan:
This sounds amazing
Never knew you were a Randy Rhoads fan. :) Good stuff!
zoomosis wish Randy would’ve wrote that , but he didn’t
Excellent. Brought one because of this video.
so glad he played Boston love it
Best demos on youtube man hello Australia from Bonnie Scotland
Very nice!
Love this pedal. Staple on my board and always gets compliments.
Which position u put in signal chain? As it has reverb..
Wow. Must have!
Loved the demo, just brilliant.
I think it's the best sounding chorus unit I've heard so far.
Love that Smitty Tele too.
thanks for this clear eyed demo
Another great demo, thank you!
for me, you make the best demos. the way you use the equipment in the videos lets me picture how i could use it. thanks
Awesome review. Bought one on the back of your demo. Subscribed.
DAMN !!!!! Thats a SHARP LOOKING GUITAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful playing!
When I first heard about this pedal I had absolutely no interest. Now, after hearing it...WOAH!!! It sounds great and I could find all kinds of uses for it.
+David Brown (dbmusicstudio) I think many didn't know what we were offering new to the ADT world. Thank you sir!
just ordered this pedal. can't wait to add it as a stereo detune to my tri-chorus.
I can't get this grin off my face after having watched a great sounding video of my favourite pedal, demonstrated by a guy I've never seen before (sorry, it's a big world), but who can obviously play a mean guitar. And what a guitar! If I ever have a guitar build I'd call Eric. These Smitty guitars are AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I can't afford a Smitty, but I really neeeeeed to find a way to be able buy that 30 ms double tracker. I'm in love with that pedal.
Question: these dip switches, on what settings are they when you buy one. Is it the setting you showed first? Cause that's how I prefer it.
I absolutely loved the video, Brett! You're a joy to watch and you sound amazing. Thank you!
Hi Mario. Thank you for dropping by and for your very kind words. And welcome! There are about 1800 further videos on my channel if you get bored. :D See you around ... And, yes, the Smitty's are the bomb!
Ha! You're going to cost me a lot of time. It's eight o clock in the morning and I haven't slept for a second 'cos of all the video's I've been watching done by you. I fear a lot more long nights coming. I'm a fan already! :-D
TOO COOL! just WOW!
Hey Brett, so glad I suggested you two collaborate sometime on F/book. Awesome demo and awesome product, as usual!
+gbstrat Indeed. Nice work. Thanks! :)
Heck yes! Great call sir!
You need to do a whole vid with these pedals covering Boston!
+Eric sin sinner Haha. Robert Keeley has asked me to do that. And I may as soon as I catch up with some other stuff.
*****
Very cool love your demos and comments on the pedals, just got the 30ms and a Neunaber slate and keeping both but want to add the Oxblood. Thanks again get some sleep, its late there?
Wow... memories, memories... I think I used to play this song you somehow play on my acoustic guitar when I was young, 30 years ago... (Leo Brouwer Study #6)
Damn fine looking and sounding guitar. And I had to pick up this pedal
I'm looking at this pedal and come across your review. Brilliant job, it's given me a great insight into the pedal. Can I ask how you're hooking up to the 2 amps? I know it can take a trs cable, but how then do you then connect to the 2 amps if you don't mind me asking? Many thanks
Nice work and playing!!
Great demo
Randy Rhoads
Excellent Vid. Now I've a better understanding of what my K 30ms can do. thanks
This is a lovely, versatile pedal.
What lick did you screw up at 9:46? Loving your playing and informative demo!
Don't Look Back. Classic Boston jam. Thanks for the kind words!
Cool video
The Boston riffs sounded great
If I didn't mind voiding my warranty, would it be possible to route the Pro mode switch to an external toggle?
I was looking for a reverb pedal. Seems that this can replace my chorus and fulfill my spacious needs at the same time.
I have the Mosaiq 12-string emulator and saw a suggestion to use the Mimiq doubler with a touch of separation to make it more natural/organic. Would this work well for that same use? Seems a lot more complex.
Nice axe man! Nice work. Pedal is cool.
The Chamber Reverb seems to only come out the right speaker. Assuming the reverb is mono.
Hey Brett! Always enjoy your demos and was curious about the 30ms - so I click and what is the first thing I hear? DIARY OF A MADMAN! Woohoo! Great taste there, friend! That is always my go to for testing this type of effect and to hear that right off the bat (see what I did there?) is excellent!
The Abbey Pro Mode was the only one I found usable. I'd like to hear more of that mode. Currently using a tc electronic Mimiq doubler. And that Boston lick? Isn't that one awesome?
It's just a short delay with some reverb, right? Stick with the mimiq for a 'true' doubling effect.
That is about next to Awesome as I have heard in a while. Tom Sholtz in a BOX. Huge sound, loved the Here comes the Sun too. That has got to be the best Lookin Pedal I have ever seen. Model after an old Ampex tape box. Done by One of the Demo Kings on RUclips. Brett Kingman.
Mayhap's my hearing system isn't what it used to be ... but I hear the left side louder than the right side (with phones). Would love to hear the PRO mode at 5 milliseconds, especially in "Dimension".
I would love to play my electric cello through this.
Cool.
Double tracking pro mode 7:00
Is the "dimension" sub-mode inspired by the Boss Dimension C? It does sound similar to my ears at the lower de-tuned settings (non-wobbling chorus). Either way great sounding pedal, this is definitely a game changer for me. I know theres plug-ins that do this really well but the fact that you can also use it in a live setting is where the value is imo.
+LeF11 Yes, more inspired by name than anything, but yes I did take a look at that Boss design.
+Robert Keeley Is the dimension mode un-modulated but rather delayed and detuned like evh used in the 80's?
A useful pedal. USEFUL.
Bloody beautiful... LOL I bought one, works great on bass too.
Do I need another Amp for this pedal for the stereo effect similar to the Mimiq or does the Keeley work with a single
This clip may answer your question: ruclips.net/video/NFjsgHdDYhQ/видео.html
Would it be all wonderful and whatnot through a regular one Amp set up?
I mean, how many folks actually bring two amps for gigging?
Maybe lots, I'd like to know 🤔
Wonderful.
Trying to "somewhat" get a twin guitar sound to play some Judas Priest stuff and Thin Lizzy's Emerald. Don't want to use a looper, want to have a pedal pre-dialed for whatever song then flip it on when needed. Would this pedal do that or would a harmonizer pedal be better?
Well, harmonizer definitely provides more flexibility. Ultimately - they're not the same thing, and aren't really made for the same kind of job. However, there's really no rules in tone creation - if it sounds good IT IS good :)
That is a sweet sounding guitar.
I can't be the only person that's interested to hear what it sounds like with two separate overdriven Amps left and right for a thick double tracked sounding rock sound. Something fairly heavy, some early Alice in Chains or something. Wondering how it would work out for single guitar player rock bands that are missing that two guitar player fullness. If it works I'd buy a spectate rig for it. But it's an expensive thing to do if it doesn't work.
+Paul Hart Of course it will work exactly how you want. It has a dry out and then a wet out that is just a small (30ms or less) delay of the original. Adding gain to it would not be an issue. It's not like you are adding gain after a delay pedal. You simply have two signals that you can consider both dry in fact, if that helps. The delay exists (in Double Tracker Pro Mode) between the channels, not in a single channel. Thanks! rk
Awesome!!!!!
Excellent!!
how come in double trackin pro mode when i run it thru thesplitter- two cords into a stereo channel on my mixer does it only come out one side?
Weird that reverb only seems to come out of the right side in the first part of the demo. However, the sound seems incredibly high quality for a short delay/chorus/tape double tracker sim-type thing.
+Lawrence Gillespie The Reverb only comes out one channel. The mix is Wet or Dry, or Wet/Dry blend and Dry. We wanted to preserve a dry analog output at all times. The "other" effect channel is the double tracker channel. This seems most correct for us.
+Robert Keeley Makes sense. Interesting pedal, for sure.
That Pro mode is fab
What does reverb is "filtered at both ends" mean? reduced low end and high end frequencies?
Yes. Filtered at 600 Hz and 10KHz.
Hey Brett what's the name of that country lick you play at around 6.45 ? plz
I just kind of made it up, like I do with most licks. No name or specific reference, I'm sorry.
I want one so bad now.
What all of these demo "wizards" and even the manufacturer's manual have all failed to mention (bar one blogger) is the fact that if you want to run two amps you need a TRS jack with a splitter cable..... this demo is based utilising two amps.... which is where it shines.
From the manual card which is clear and online. robertkeeley.com/woo/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/30MSLayout1PRINTFINAL.jpg
Was getting ready to slap dough on the Waza Dim D. No point. This pedal gives you a high quality similar tone, and more.
For even more lush goodness pair this with the Abbey Chamber Verb, also by Keeley.
Does anyone experience a volume drop when the pedal is engaged? Or is mine just a fluke? I love the tone but i get a volume drop when i turn the pedal on. :(
+John Sinambal Yes, I get a volume drop when I use it in the effects loop of my EVH 5150 III. If I run it before the amp I don't get the volume drop. But it sounds better in the loop but the volume drop is an issue. Are you using it only in the loop, have you tried it in front of the amp?
bill3lz I'm only using it in front. Robert and his team are actually sending me a new pedal. Great service over there!
+John Sinambal did you get a replacement? Mine had no volume drop!
Yes, I sent the unit in to them and they fixed it and sent it back. They responded to my emails super fast and turned the unit around very quickly. Great customer service from them.
where in the chain do you recomed put it ..if i use a mult fx can i put it after the multi fx ?
+rolando0572 You just have to think about how you want things to sound. Either you want to color the double-tracked signal, or you want to double-track your colored signal. Personally I would default to after your FX because in practice this is what would happen with real double tracking. Your effected signal would be double tracked, not the other way around. If you intend this to be a sort of weird chorus then you might want to consider ditching the multi-fx to have better control over order of effects.
+boonexy thanks i used it as you told me...
